Chapter 10
"P-PAPA…!?"
"Yeah it's me."
"W-what are you doing here!? Your supposed to be in jail!?"
"I broke out and now I'm here to kill you just like I did Medusa and your Mother."
"W-WHAT!? Y-You killed mama!? I thought she died in a car accident!?"
"I lied to you."
"B-But why papa!? Why would you do that to mama!?"
"It's simple your mother was only coming to take you away from me and I couldn't let her take my punching bag away from me. So I killed her and now I'm going to kill you the same way I did to her."
Spirit laughs evilly. Soul stares at spirit in shock. He had just heard every word that just came out of that BASTURDS mouth. Soul watched Maka. She was crying so hard that the tears coming out looked like a waterfall. She stood there frozen trembling like crazy.
"Are you ready to die Maka? No one would even care that your dead. Your just a worthless piece of shit!" Spirit spat.
Maka stayed quiet she didn't say a word she just kept on crying. She couldn't keep her eyes open that how much she was crying.
Spirit raised the knife that was in his left hand and charged at Maka. Souls eyes widened and he ran as fast as he could over to Maka.
"MAKA WATCH OUT!"
Maka said nothing she just stayed the same. Spirit was about to slice Maka but the blow didn't come. Maka stopped crying enough and looked up. She saw Soul standing infront of her. He fell backwards into Maka's arms.
"SOUL!" Maka screamed.
Just as Spirit was about to strike again he was shot to the ground and killed by the policemen and women surrounding them. He fell to the ground in his own puddle of blood.
"Miss are you okay?" One of the police officers asked.
Maka didn't answer she was to focused on the bloodied body in her arms.
"SOUL! Please don't die on me! Please! I need you…please Soul…don't die…"
"Miss we need you to step away now."
"No…"
"Miss pleas-"
"I SAID NO!" Maka screamed loudly while pulling Soul even close to her.
"Please miss."
"NO! NO! NO!"
Maka continued to scream so loud that Black*Star,Tsubaki,Kid,Liz,and Patty could hear her as they ran through the woods. As they got to where Maka was they saw all the policemen surrounding her. They saw Maka father on the ground in a puddle of his own blood.
They walked up to the officers and saw that they were trying to get Maka away from Souls body but she kept refusing.
Black*Star took it upon his self to push through the officers and walk over to Maka. He wrapped his arms around her and picked her up off the ground and away from Souls body. Black*Star held on tightly as Maka thrashed around in his grip.
"BLACK*STAR! PUT ME DOWN!"
"No way Maka."
Black*Star held on to Maka even tighter as the officers picked Souls body up off the ground.
As they walked out of the woods the gang saw the officers put Soul into a ambulance. He was soon rushed off to the hospital.
After the police officers left Black*Star let Maka go. She fell to the ground and cried heavily.
"Maka it's going to he okay you just need to relax." Tsubaki said trying to calm Maka down.
"NO IT'S NOT! IT'S ALL MY FAULT SOUL GOT HURT IN THE FIRST PLACE! HE RISKED HIS OWN LIFE TO SAVE ME WHEN I WAS FROZEN IN PLACE! MY FATHER WAS ABOUT TO KILL ME AND ALL I DID WAS STAND THERE!"
"Maka please calm down."
"I CAN'T TSUBAKI! MY BESTFRIEND WAS ALMOST KILLED BECAUSE OF ME! IT'S ALL MY FAULT! WHAT IF HE DIED ON THE WAY TO THE HOSPITAL!?"
"Maka it's not your fault! If you want to see is alive then get your ass moving and go to the hospital!" Black*Star screamed.
"Yeah Maka lets go to the hospital and see if Soul is okay or not. But first you need to get cleaned up. You are covered in blood, you have no shoes on,and your dress is ripped. Your a complete mess."
"B-but Tsubaki I have to get to the hospital now. I can't waste time cleaning up when I could be at the hospital waiting to see if Soul is okay."
"Maka you are not going to the hospital like that. Even if Liz,Patty and I have to clean you ourselves then we will."
"F-Fine."
The gang walked Maka back to Souls house. Thank god he gave her a key to the house. She opening the door and walked in followed by Black*Star,Tsubaki,Kid,Liz,and Patty. Maka ran to here room and grabbed a clean pair of clothes then ran back into the bathroom.
Not before telling the girls that if they want to they could change into the their clothes that they left in her bedroom from earlier when they were getting ready for the dance.
The girls decided to change into they're normal clothes. They went to Maka's room to change leaving the two guys there in awkward silents.
Maka came out of the bathroom 15 minutes later dressed and ready to go. Soon after Tsubaki,Liz and Patty came out of Maka's room in their normal clothes.
"Are you girls ready to go?" Kid asked.
"Yep." The girls said at the same time.
Thank god Kid had a car cause they got to the hospital in five minutes.
As soon as Kid parked the car Maka rushed into the hospital as fast as she could. When Maka got inside she asked the women at the front desk where Soul was.
She said that he was still in surgery and won't be out for a while. She told Maka that the doctor would come and get her when he's out of surgery. Maka nodded and walked over to the waiting room. Just as she was about to sit down her friends came running in and over to her asking questions.
"Maka what did they say!? Your god needs to know!"
"Yeah Maka what did they say." Tsubaki and the rest of her friends asked.
"They said that he's still in the operating room and won't be out for awhile. The doctor is going to come and get me once Soul gets out of operation. But for now I have to wait."
"Oh okay. We'll wait with you." Black*Star said giving Maka a big smile.
"Thanks you guys."
"No problem Maka!"
They all waited for hours. They waited so long that everyone had fallen asleep except for Maka. She was way to worried about what's going on with Soul.
She looked over at her friends and smiled.
Tsubaki fell asleep against Black*Stars shoulder,Black*Star fell asleep with his arm wrapped around her and his head resting on hers. Patty fell asleep on two chairs, Liz had fell asleep in Kids lap and Kid fell asleep with his head leaning backing against the chair.
She had tried falling asleep but just couldn't. She just kept thinking about Soul. That's all she did. So she sat in her chair with her knees to her chest and stared at the door where the doctor would come out for her. Her eyes were pink and puff from all the crying.
Maka couldn't take it anymore even though he didn't want to go to sleep she couldn't help it. The exhaustion was taking over. Her eyes started to close. She was almost asleep when the doctor came through the door and over to her. She jumped up off the chair she was sitting on.
As the doctor came over to Maka she realized who it was.
"S-Stein!? Your the doctor?"
"Yes, I was called in for a emergency operation. I was surprised to see it was Soul that I'd be operating on."
"SOUL!? Prof. Stein how is Soul!?"
"He's fine. He lost a lot of blood so he's weak but he'll be fine in a couple weeks."
Maka breathed a sigh of relief.
"Souls okay…he's okay. Thank you Pro. Stein! Thank you so much!"
"Sure thing Maka."
"Um…would it be okay if I can see him now?"
"Yes, of course. He's in room 42."
Maka nodded and looked over at her friends that were now awake.
They got up and walked over to her. They walked down the hall and to room 42. As they arrived Maka froze in front of the door. She was afraid to see what Soul looked like.
"Maka what are you waiting for? Go in!" Black*Star said pushing Maka into the room.
Knowing Maka she tripped on her own feet as she was pushed in. Thankfully Black*Star caught her before she could hit the floor.
"T-Thanks Black*Star."
Maka started to walk over to Soul. As she got closer she could see the bandages that were wrapped around Souls chest and part of his waist. He looked lifeless. Maka covered her mouth and sobbed. Maka sat down in a chair that was right next to Souls hospital bed. She took one of Souls hands in hers an held it tightly.
Black*Star,Tsubaki,Kid,Liz,and Patty all went home for the night leaving Maka all alone in Souls hospital room. No matter how much she tried she couldn't stop thinking about Soul being in his condition because of her.
"Soul I'm so sorry. This is all my fault. You got hurt because of me. If I just moved when you told me too you wouldn't be here in this hospital…" Maka started to sob.
"T-this I-is a-all m-my f-fault…" Maka choked out through her sobs.
Everything went quiet except for the sobs that were coming out of Maka's mouth. Maka continued to cry until she feel something move. She looked down at her hand that was holding Souls an saw that his hand was tightening its grip on hers. She looked up and saw Soul staring at her.
"S-Soul…?"
"M-Maka…it's not your fault…I choose to step infront of that knife."
"Y-You heard me?"
"Yep,everything you just said. It's not your fault Maka so stop thinking it is."
"I can't Soul…it's my fault your in here like that."
Tears started to fall faster from Maka's eyes. They hit Soul and Maka's hand. Soul noticed and used his free hand to wipe the tears away.
"Come on Maka. Stop crying its not cool seeing my best friend crying."
Maka rolled her eyes and wiped the rest of the tears away.
"So what happened to your father? Soul asked.
"He was shot an killed after you passed out."
"Oh…I'm sorry."
"It's okay, he got what he should have gotten a long time ago. But I'm wondering how the police got there just in time?"
"Oh I called them as soon as I saw your father. After you ran out of the dance I told the gang what had happened and they agreed to help find you. I found your shoes leading into the woods so I ran into the woods as fast as I could. I could hear your sobs as I got closer to you. When I found you I hid behind a tree and watched you cry. I texted the gang telling them I had found you and to meet me in the woods. And that's when I heard someone call out your name. I looked to the source of the voice and saw your father. I called 9-1-1 as fast as I could and told them where we were."
"That's explains that. But why did you come looking for me…? You were to busy kissing Blair…"
"Maka she was kissing me. After you left to get food she came over to me and attacked my lips with hers. I would never in a million years kiss Blair. I rather kiss someone I love. But why did you run out when you saw Blair kissing me? What do you have a crush on me?"
"W-What n-no w-way." Maka said blushing beet red.
"It was only a joke Maka." Soul said laughing.
"You jerk!"
"I know I'm a jerk. But I'm your jerk." Soul said with a toothy grin.
