Ultear

I sat at the corner on an old leather stool, staring at my Ipod while people milled around, carrying makeup bags and lighting equipment. I could hear people hurriedly shouting orders the shuffle of feet, the occasional click of a pair of heels. It was two minutes to going live again after the break, and everyone was rushing to get things in check before the cameras started rolling. I tried to read the words on my timeline on Facebook, but really, it was a blur.

"Ultear, come on, its time," I could hear Lucy say. I looked up, to see her dressed in her black leather skater skirt and a Nirvana muscle tee, tucked in, with a pair of Doc Martens. Her eyes were lined and she had some dark eyeshadow on, her hair free and flowing down her shoulders. She smiled at me. I frowned, wondering why she was acting weird until I looked down. My knees were shaking. I had not realised that I was that nervous. Well, out performance was right after this break.

"Yeah, I've come under the attack of the butterflies," I say sounding like a movie trailer. Lucy laughed, pointing at herself. "So am I. This is our first time on TV, I'm scared that...well you know, my parents," she said, sighing.

"Lucy, you didn't come till this point for nothing. So let's suck it up and get out there," I said, suddenly finding a little confidence. "I'm sure Erza, Juvia and Wendy are waiting for us. Let's get outta here," I said, taking her hand. Lucy seemed a little surprised by my sudden confidence, but nevertheless, she smirked. "Yep, you're right."

We headed out towards the set. There were two stages. One small one where the hosts would speak, and another where we would perform, right in front of the judges. Kind of like a talk show. On the small stage, the curtains covered our set, but I could hear the din of the crowd. I could see Erza readjusting her microphone stand, her guitar slung around her. Juvia was tuning her bass, while a technician was helping Wendy with her keyboard. Erza looked up, her red hair long and luscious looking. She wore a red skirt with a black leather jacket, zipped down a little to show a little cleavage. "Finally. Where were you guys?" she asked, hands on her hips. Lucy headed over to her drum set, which had already been setup for her. The drum set was pretty cool, and it had out band logo on it, the words 'CRUSH' in black and pink letters. "Oh you know, just the nerves," Lucy replied, settling down and raising her drumsticks.

I walked over to where my guitar laid on its case, already connected to the speaker systems. I was offered to change my guitars with the better ones the people on set had offered, but no way was I changing it. I had started off playing with this one, and it was sort of a good luck charm to me. It was electric blue, with black and white finishes. I played some chords, adjusting the tuning.

"Well, we haven't got time to be nervous. We need to rock," Erza said firmly, nodding her head at Lucy and me. Lucy snorted. "Don't act macho Erza, I can practically see you peeing your pants- Oh, I mean miniskirt," Lucy said evilly. Juvia burst into laughter, nodding in agreement. Even Wendy managed a small smile. Erza went red, not as red as her hair though. "Pfft," she said, flipping her hair. Just then, an announcement blared on the speakers. "30 seconds to live!"

Wendy flinched, her face going red. I went over and patted her on the shoulder. "We can do this. You, me, we, are all gonna rock this stage," I said, smiling and pumping my fist in the air. She smiled a little, before following suit, pumping her fists in the air.

"Is this going to be our new routine," Lucy said, laughing and pumping her fist in the air too. Erza and Juvia did the same too.

"10...9...8," she announcer went.

"Yes, it is," I said. "Let's do it again, together."

"7...6...5!"

"What are we?" I yelled.

"4...3...2..."

"CRUSH!" we all yelled, pumping our fists in the air.

"1...0." The theme tune of the show rang out, as the crowd burst into applause.

"Let's do this guys," Lucy said, crossing her sticks over each other.

Erza

"Welcome back from the break. Onto the competition, we have our potential stars, who wowed the judges during their auditions," the host said. I could hear our small video montage of the auditions being played on the screen.

"We're just so into music, we want to make and produce songs that people can sing along to, and relate to," I could hear Lucy saying in the video. I turned around at her and smiled. She returned the smile, awkwardly.

"As you can see, they're passionate about their music. The question is, can they wow the judges and deem themselves worthy? Let's welcome, girl band Crush!" The host yelled, while the audience went into a resounding applause. The curtains started to lift, and I started to see the smiling judges and the crowd. The cameras swung into our direction. Juvia and Ultear lifted their guitars, as did I.

"Time to do this," I muttered under my breath.

Juvia started up our opening tune with Wendy on the keyboard. I started up too.

"Met a boy at seventeen

Thought he meant the world to me,

So I gave him everything,

He turned out to be a cheat

Said he'd been thinking for a long time

And he found somebody new

I've been thinking that this whole time

Lucy started up her drums, and Ultear on the bass, as I continued:

WellI never thought you'd stay

That's okay

I hope she takes your filthy heart

And then she throws you away someday

Before you go, there's one thing you oughta know,

Juvia, Ultear and Wendy held as Lucy and I continued:

"If you can't hang then, there's the door baby

If you can't hang then, there's the door baby

If you can't hang then, there's the door baby

If you can't hang then, there's the door

We all went in, as I started the chorus:

I don't wanna take your precious time

'Cause you're such a pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty face

But you turned into a pretty big waste of my time

I don't wanna take up all your time

'Cause you're such a pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty face

But you turned into a pretty big waste of my time

As I played and sang, I couldn't help but think back to last year, when I was so sure Jellal was the one. I could never forget his piercing eyes, his blue locks that my fingers love to get tangled in, his sweet lips and that ridiculous tattoo under his eye. Everytime I tried to fall asleep, all I could picture was him, and only him.

Until now, I blame myself, for not being enough for him, for not doing the best for him. I think and think what I ever did, for him to dump my ass for some model. Weren't we perfect? We that picture perfect couple. He completed me. He was there for me when no one else was. I was so in love with him.

And I still am.

These thoughts flowed in my mind, and I could feel my eyes get teary as I sang the last part:

Would you please stay and come inside, baby

Would you please stay and please be mine, baby

Would you please stay and come inside, baby

Would you please stay and please be mine?

The audience burst into applause, with some ever giving us a standing ovation. I could feel Juvia's arms around me, holding my shoulders. I had no idea why she was doing that. Then I felt a tear slid down my already wet cheeks.

I had no idea I was crying.

"Give it up for CRUSHHHH! What a performance!" the host praised, clapping his hands.

As the applause died down the first judge, Jenny took her microphone. She was a previous member of the now defunct pop group, Blue Pegasus. "I don't even know what to say...that was so emotional...Erza you killed it," she said, as the crowd burst into another round of applause and cheers. The second judge, Chappati Lola nodded in agreement before saying, "That was perfect coordination which each other, especially Lucy on the drums. I have to applaud Wendy too, that tune was very addicting, aided with the keyboard. Considering you're a new band, I'm very impressed," he said. Lucy's jaw fell slack, as Wendy was shocked. Ultear and Juvia grinned.

"And now, the scores from the judges," the host announced.

Jenny smiled at us, as the audience were on their toes in anticipation. We came forward. Juvia closed her eyes, as if bracing herself.

Jenny pressed a button. The score was displayed on the big screen.

" A 9! That's the highest Jenny has given so far today!" the host announced.

Then it was Chappati's turn. He pressed a button.

"A 10! A ten it is folks! The highest score ever given today, and for a first time performance in the history of this show! Give it up for CRUSH people!" the host yelled, clearly excited.

I jumped around, hugging everyone, fresh tears forming in my eyes. We did it! Our first performance was a success. As I faced the crowd again, I noticed something at the back.

There was a few bodyguards standing at the back near the doors. To their far right stood someone, a hoodie covering his hair. However, I could clearly see his dark blue hair falling over his face. He turned, in my direction. I froze. Our eyes connected. His eyes were soft, apologetic even. He smiled and nodded, as if congratulating me, his lips parted.

Jellal. He was here.

I felt someone tugging on my arm. I turned, to see Ultear staring at me. Her face was emotionless. "We gotta get off the stage. Come on," she said, probably a little coldly. I saw Lucy looking at me funny. I turned to him again, but he was gone. The last bodyguard was closing the doors.

I followed the band backstage.

So, what did you think of the band's first performance on Project Superstar? And Erza's feelings for Jellal? What about Jellal's surprise apperance? What do you think he was doing there? Stay tuned for the next chapter! :D And of course, do review!!
