WG: And now, because I'm STILL awake and delusional, another fluff-shot!

Puggsy: *is on his third cup of coffee* Don't you ever sleep, anymore...?

WG: ...Apparently, not tonight.

Puggsy: *head-desk* 93 more to go... God give me strength...

Disclaimer: WG owns herself, Puggsy is owned by Ruby-Spears.

Note: These fluffs will be in the categories of hurt/comfort, friendship, and stuff like that... but no romance or death... we're also trying hard not to swear.

[It's getting REALLY difficult, though...]

Shut up and drink your damn coffee.

Setting: Alternate Universe.

"I swear I'm never going to have children..." Puggsy said to himself as he walked down the streets.

It was dusk, and the short teen was walking home from work, tired from too long of a day...

A long day that started too early, as WG- the young 10-year-old girl the gang had taken in- teamed up with Fangs' 13-year-old daughter, Liz, to pull a prank on him, which involved the small blonde girl to leap down on a bungee-cord over his bed... but the cord turned out to be too long, and she ended up falling on him, causing him to fall out bed in shock, and she high-tailed it out of the room... the bungee-cord still attached to her, causing her to spring back, slam into him, and pin him into the wall.

...Yeah. Not a fun way to wake up in the mornings.

Brielle and Kassy both scolded the two young girls for their prank, grounding them both for the week... though Puggsy wished he could use the belt on WG, as she was always the mastermind behind the pranks. But, it wasn't his authority- the girl came from reality, her parents being the only ones to discipline her. Instead, he just told her that if she didn't cut it out, she could stay in reality.

Not that it would be carried out, since her sister was giving her trouble by pushing her around, causing her to have run away to the toon-world in the first place, alongside Fangs' younger cousin, FF2, who was hanging out with their other cousin, Kite, for the week.

It wasn't that he didn't like kids. He just always had a problem with the 3 kids they had to look after now- namely because they were always picking on him, WG being the main antagonist.

And because of her prank that morning, he had been in a bad mood all day, making his work seem to take longer, and all he wanted to do was sleep... if the hyperactive little blonde didn't disturb him this time. Maybe he and Brielle could buy their own place and not tell the kid where they were living...

"Puggsy!"

He turned, seeing Liz running down the street, towards him. "Liz? What are you doing out this late?" he asked her.

"Looking for WG. We ordered a pizza, and she went to go pick it up 20 minutes ago- the parlor's only up the street, about three blocks... but she's nowhere in sight. Dad and I came out to look for her,"

Dammit... Puggsy thought bitterly. "Alright, where's your dad?" he asked.

"He's down the street, checking around the corners to see if she went the wrong way. Mom's at home, waiting around in case she turns up... I hope nothing happened to her..."

Puggsy sighed. "Go meet up with your dad, I'll go up to the parlor- maybe she had to wait longer for the pizza to get done,"

Liz nodded, running back down the street.

Puggsy walked the other way, trudging along. That girl just can't do something simple without causing trouble, can she? he thought, aggravated. Just go get a pizza, and get home before it got too dark... she had better have a good reason for...

*Crash!*

He stopped, hearing a sound coming from an alley up ahead, followed by voices. Curiously, he walked over, cautiously looking around the corner...

Seeing some street-thug kicking at someone. "Teach you to back-talk, you little bitch!" he was snarling, kicking his victim, making them grunt in pain.

"HEY!" Puggsy shouted, running down the alley. "Back off!"

"Ah, get lost, half-pint! This don't concern you!" The thug sneered, turning and throwing a punch...

Puggsy caught his fist, twisting the thug's arm behind his back, and slamming him face-first onto the ground. "I said... Back. OFF."

"Ow! Lay off, assho- OW!"

Puggsy twisted his arm. "Unless you want your arm broken, you'd better shut up and get out of here!"

"C-C'mon, man... I'm just trying to do my job! Some bitch hired me to throttle that kid!"

Kid?!

Puggsy twisted his arm further. "You're going to forget that job. You're going to get out of here... and so help me, if I catch you around here again, you're going to be begging for death!"

The thug choked out a sob, and Puggsy released him, yanking him back to his feet and shoving him out of the alley, watching him run off as quick as he could. He then heard a moan, and looked over at the kid, who was curled up in a ball, their back towards him...

A couple feet away there was a pizza-box...

Oh no... he thought, walking over, looking at the beaten kid, thinking the worst...

His thinking turned to reality.

It was WG.

She was walking back from the pizza parlor, carrying the box while looking up at the sky, watching as it went from orange-pink to dark-blue purple.

She didn't see the thug run at her until it was too late, the goon yanking her into an alley, throwing her into the wall, causing her to drop the pizza. "Nothng personal, kid... some bitch just wants me to beat the hell out of you," he grunted, turning her and preparing to punch her.

She acted fast, kicking him where it hurt, then trying to run- but he grabbed her by the hair, yanking her back. She tried to fight, cussing him out, trying to sound tough. She wasn't strong enough... with one punch, her lights went out, yet she could still feel pain as the thug tried to beat her to death...

"Wherever Girl... speak to me, kid... say something..."

She opened her eyes, her vision dark and blurry. Her eyes felt sore... swollen and black, she figured. Once her vision cleared, she made out Puggsy's face- filled with concern. Weird, she never thought she'd see that look on his face, ever.

"Pugs...?" she whispered. It hurt to speak. She tried to stand... but her whole body was sore from the beating she took.

"Easy, kid..." Puggsy said, speaking gently... she never heard him speak like that, before. Not to her, at least. He held out his hands, taking hers and slowly helping her stand up.

She steadied herself, making sure not to fall and hurt herself... or was there a chance Puggsy would catch her? She didn't know... from all she had done to him, he'd probably let her hit the ground.

She tried to stay calm, too... but that was harder than standing. That thug had been hired to kill her... but who would want her dead? She didn't make any enemies since coming to the toon-world...

Except...

"She... she tried to have me... killed..." WG gasped, tears forming in her eyes as she began to tremble.

It affected her balance.

She fell...

Puggsy shot his arms out, catching WG just in time. "I said easy!" he said, moving his hands onto her shoulders... feeling them shaking uncontrollably, noticing she was crying.

"Jennifer... she hired him... to..." WG said in short breaths, staring at the ground, her eyes wide with shock. Fear.

Puggsy wasn't used to seeing her like this. The only time he saw her so scared was when they first met her sister...

...the same sister who hired someone to kill WG.

He scowled. He knew Jennifer was a total brat who liked to push WG over the brink... but trying to have her killed? What did WG do to piss her off that much? he questioned mentally. He remembered WG's stories about her sister always forcing her to do stuff, and how mad she was that her little sister ran off to the toon-world, making friends who stood up for her... Was that her problem? Did Jennifer hate the idea of WG coming to the toon-world so much, that she'd hire some thug to beat the life out of her and make the world her tomb? Next time I see that bitch, I'm gonna-

His bitter thoughts were interrupted when he felt WG press against him, burying her face in his chest as she clung onto his shirt, sobbing. He looked around, a bit stunned. He never saw her break down like this before.

Carefully, Puggsy wrapped his arms around her, gently enough so not to put any pressure on her bruises. "It's... it's going to be alright, WG," he tried to assure her.

"No it's not..." WG sobbed. "She... she hates me... why does she hate me?! I... I never did anything to her...!"

"Calm down, Wherever-"

"I can't... I just can't...!" she struggled to get out of his grip now. "She won't leave me alone... she never leaves me alone... unless I die...!"

"Watch your mouth!" His tone was harsh... and startled. He didn't like what he just heard from her... and since that day he prayed he would never hear that kind of talk from her again.

She was still, probably shocked that he snapped at her like that.

Sighing, he gently cupped her chin in his palm, having her look up at him. "She's not here now, WG... and if she's stupid enough to come here, after pulling an act like that..." he shut his eyes, shaking his head, anger getting to him. "...She'd better not come around here again."

WG sniffled. "She'll... she'll be waiting for me at home..."

"Then don't go home. We'll tell your parents what she did... and God willing she'll get life in prison,"

"They... they won't believe it... she might tell them..."

"Tell them what? That some random goon just-"

"She might tell them you did it!"

Puggsy froze, looking at her in shock. "...What?"

WG began to tremble again. "She... she knows about the pranks I pulled on you... she might tell my parents that you got sick of them, and..." she kept shedding tears. "She's a liar... and she hates you... all of you... she'll blame you..."

He looked at her for a moment, once again angry- not at WG... oh, no. Despite the aggravation the young girl caused him, it was nothing compared to the rage he was feeling against Jennifer. "They won't believe her."

"But..."

Puggsy cupped her cheek with his hand, locking his gaze with hers. "Do you think that your parents would believe... that you would stick around with me if I abused you? Do you really think they'd believe I'd do that to you?"

She winced. "...you wouldn't?"

He looked at her, stunned. "What?"

"I mean... I pull a lot of pranks on you... and you always get so mad... this morning I thought you were going to hit me..."

Puggsy stood there, thinking back to that morning. He had chased WG after they slammed into the wall, and he managed to catch her, dragging her back to the room, lashing out at her... for a second, he had raised his hand... but he had stopped himself, after seeing her flinch.

Tears ran down her face, and he used his thumb to wipe them away. "I'll never hit you... maybe swat you with my hat if you get too cocky, but that's it. What your sister had that thug do... I would never do that," he wrapped his arms around her again. "And I promise... I'll make sure it doesn't happen again- and if she tries anything... so help me..."

"I'm... I'm sorry..."

"Huh?"

WG took a deep breath, trying to control her sobs. "I'm sorry... for always picking on you. I was just having fun... Fangface makes it look fun... but... I'm sorry... sorry..." she buried her face in his shirt again, staining it with tears.

Puggsy sighed, then rubbed her back, resting his head on top of hers. "It's okay... everything will be okay. I promise,"

There were footsteps, and Puggsy looked out the corner of his eye, seeing Fangs and Liz were rushing over. "What... what happened?" Liz gasped, seeing her friend in a beaten state, and held onto her father, who held her close.

"Someone hired some goon to throttle WG," Puggsy said, his tone bitter as he thought about it. "I'll tell you everything later... right now, we'd better get home,"

"Are you okay, WG?" Fangs asked.

WG nodded, then tried to walk, stumbling a bit...

"Here," Puggsy whispered, hooking one arm around her legs while the other wrapped around her shoulders, carrying her.

She tensed a bit, but after a few steps she relaxed, resting her head on his shoulder, still gripping onto his shirt.

"Fangs... better transform. Three blocks is a long way in the city."

Fangs nodded, as he and Liz looked up at the moon, turning into Fangface and Tracker. The werewolf overcame the urge to attack his best friend, namely because the short teen was holding WG. Tracker looked around, keeping an eye out for any more thugs, hoping Puggsy would identify the one who pummeled her friend, just so she could hunt him down.

WG had fallen unconcious once they got home, and Kassy immediately called the family doctor, Sarah (Baby Fangs' mother), to come over quickly and tend to the young girl. After an examination, and applying some bandages, the woman sighed. "She should be fine... she took quite the beating, but nothing's broken." she said. "She'll be sore for a while, I suggest having her rest, and make sure she doesn't do any radical stunts,"

"Thank you, Sarah," Kassy said, giving her in-law a hug on the way out the door. She turned back to her husband, both of them looking at WG, asleep on the couch.

"So... her sister hired some thug, huh?" Brielle asked Pugsy, her tone dark- just as his had been when he told them about it. "That bitch is just begging for a dagger between the eyes..."

"Get in line," Tracker said.

"I'm going to call WG's parents and tell them about this... and if they haven't sent that brat to prison after this, they'd better plan on buying her a tombstone,"

"Calm down, guys. We have to think clearly. Lets tell her parents what happened, and what WG told us." Kassy said.

"Right. First, lets get some rest... it's been a hard night," Puggsy suggested, and everyone agreed, heading to their rooms... though he stayed behind, Brielle at his side, linking her arm with his, both of them looking down at the young girl.

Just hours ago, she had been a high-spirited girl with a knack for pulling jokes and having fun with her friends... but now she lay before them, a startled look remaining on her face as she slept, paranoia welling up inside.

Puggsy sighed, bowing his head, trying to clear his mind. Brielle rubbed his back. "C'mon, lets turn in," she whispered to him.

"You go ahead... I'll stay out here, in case she wakes up." he told her.

Brielle nodded, resting her head on his shoulder. "You know... I never thought you cared so much about her. It's a good thing she found a friend like you." she gave him a kiss on the cheek.

He gave a small smile. "Yeah, well, she was friends with you first... she just got stuck with me by accident," he gave her a kiss back, hugging her. "Go get some rest, Brie... we've got a long day ahead of us,"

Brielle walked to their room, lying down to sleep.

Puggsy stayed by the couch. For some reason, despite how tired he was, he couldn't bring himself to leave WG's side... not after the ordeal she just went through.

Something brushed against his hand. It was her hand. "Uhn... huh? Where am I?" she whispered.

He sat down beside her, holding her hand. "You're safe, don't worry," he assured her, stroking her head. "Go back to sleep,"

WG gripped his hand tightly, shutting her eyes and drifting back to sleep.

Puggsy held onto her hand, not letting go, even when he fell asleep.

Brielle wasn't able to get to sleep so quick. How could anyone sleep after knowing a child/friend of theirs had been beaten? She got out of bed, deciding she would sleep out in the living room by WG, as extra support.

She saw Puggsy sitting beside the couch, his head resting on one arm, while his other hand held WG's hand. She smiled, grabbing a blanket and draping it around him, sitting beside him and resting her head on his shoulder.

And people still think you're a jerk... she thought, chuckling at the thought. She then fell asleep, herself.
