You've been far away too long
"Lord Katen I am currently too busy in political affairs for this marriage proposal of his" Lord Dorkabutt was actually Lord DoucheADick to my eyes. He walked in with a stride that seem to show off as pompous, as an asshole, as the biggest asshat in all of history.
He even dared to call me some sort of servant. Me. A servant, I respect all those who serve under Mirana really but to call me a servant was just going too far. Even the actual maids gasped at his words but none felt they were in the position to correct his 'mistake' as the fucking champion.
"Your majesty...what other proper time than now to marry? It has been years since your sister has been taken off the throne, the anniversary of the death of the jabberwocky is coming soon, and it's simply proper for a Queen to find a King" he stared at Mirana with complete disbelief in his eyes that she had turned him down.
His hair was grossly slicked back, his face was clear of any acne but I could see the grease from Mirana's throne, his teeth were 'perfectly' aligned but becoming an ugly yellow from too much tea. Everything about him just screamed disgusting.
"Do you dare question my motives?" his mouth shuts in response to the Queen's sudden tone "I am Mirana of Marmoreal, I am the Queen of not just Marmoreal but of ALL of Underland...you do NOT question anything I do..." the room became slightly darker with her tone.
"I am not my sister so I will not harm anyone here...but I am making this clear...Lord Katen...that you do NOT question me, I do not wish to marry you and that is final. I do not need a reason, although I have one, but that is for me to know and for you to stay out of. Question me once more and I'll see to it that you are removed from your throne and replaced immediately."
At this moment I put on my helmet to prepare not only for a possible battle with the man but to hide the smile on my face. The entire room remained silent for a few minutes before she spoke again "now...where were we?" the room instantly became brighter as a smile appeared on her face.
"I just can't understand as to why so many people believe that I need a King?" Mirana sat on a chair as a maid did her hair "they believe that women aren't capable of power, that women are meant for nothing more than being a wife and cooking for their lazy selves. That women aren't strong enough for something like a throne or standing up for themselves."
I stood in the back simply watching and commenting, the Queen smiled as I spoke "well I guess in a way I have a King..." I removed my helmet as it was starting to bother my hair "and who would that be?" I was utterly confused.
"You're last name is Kingsleigh is it not my love?" Mirana giggled and even the maid shared a laugh "oh...yeah..." my Queen stared out her window and sighed "You haven't made any comments about the wedding so far love..." a bird flew by.
I shrugged and put my helmet onto a small round table nearby "I've never been into that sort of stuff, I figured you'd be more interested in decorations, food, and all that. I just want to make sure that our friends are invited my Queen" a bird perched itself on the windowsill.
"Also for as long as I've been in Underland so far I still don't know anything about the menu, your food is quite different from mine, I don't know half of the people on the list, also I've never planned a wedding before. Especially not by myself" I whistled to the bird who flew towards my hand. He was light and looked like a fluffy ball that chirped happily.
"You don't have to do everything alone...but I do understand your situation, I'll let you work on the easy things such as decorations. Just don't have Chess as the main attraction and you should do fine." I laughed at the idea of Chess being on a pedestal with the most ridiculous pose and smile on his face as everyone stares in either disgust, question, or awe of the cat.
The poor bird did not enjoy my laughing fit and flew outside leaving a single feather behind, carefully I picked up the feather and inspected it "beautiful isn't it?" I placed the feather on the table "even the plants and animals here are just so different from home..."
The maid finished brushing Mirana's hair and left the room, closing the door behind her, my Queen rose from her chair and took my hands into hers "do you miss home?" I looked down at her hands and sighed "not really..." I looked up to find Mirana's eyes seemed a bit red. As if she was about to cry.
"You can return any time Alice..." I removed my right hand from her grasp and placed a finger on her lips "I don't miss home" a single tear fell from her dark brown eyes as she kissed my gauntlet. I smiled at the action.
"What do you miss then?" deciding that I was done wearing my armour I slowly removed each piece "my dad...I miss my dad...but he's dead" Mirana helped me with my chest piece and placing the armour on it's stand. We took a few steps back and stared at it, it was a beautiful set of armour and I wouldn't trade any other piece of equipment for it.
Slowly we interlocked hands and everything within me felt a bit more at peace knowing that she was here "He'd be happy for me though, happy I finally found someone to love, someplace that I feel like I belong, someplace just as strange as me. Even if he were alive...he'd be happy knowing I found this place."
Mirana simply listened as I spoke to her, no words, no interruptions...just listened "he used to tell me the funniest thing when I was little, every time I thought I had a dream of coming here...I'd ask him if I was mad..." I chuckled at the memory of me as nothing more than a little girl.
It would always feel like sweat was pouring down my body after each visit to Underland, sometimes the visits were scary, exhausting, or simply too much to handle...but always wonderful. "He'd check my temperature and tell me: 'I'm afraid so...you're entirely mad. Bonkers...off your head...but I'll tell you a secret...all of the best people are..."
"He was always supportive of anything I did no matter how insane..." I guided her to our bedroom "you know one time as a kid I tried to jump off my roof.." Mirana smiled as we sat down on the bed. I ran my thumb over her knuckles "my house back home was smaller than your castle my love but jumping off the roof of a mansion isn't the best idea."
My Queen held a hand to her mouth to hide her smile and laugh but her eyes shined beautifully to express her emotion, she was happy to hear about my childhood, to hear about my father, to hear another silly story from me.
"I was fine because he caught me halfway...the man just looked out the window as I announced loudly: 'I'm going to hell', saying such things always bothered my mother and I enjoyed doing that greatly. He laughed as he held out his hands from a story below. I don't know how but he just caught me without falling with me..."
I stared at my lover, my story was finished, our moment would soon be over as she would have to return to her political duties as Queen of Underland/ Marmoreal. I would have to soon return to sword practice, to finding ways to keep myself busy until the night came where the two of us would have hours alone.
Hours we always spent wisely.
"I love you and your silly stories Alice...even if they are true" her lips met mine and as with every kiss we've had before, I felt complete "I love you too Mirana you're my everything" she smiled as we sat in silence with her head on my shoulder, her body on mine, our arms wrapped around each other and everything feeling like a finished puzzle piece.
Nothing could go wrong...could it?
I've been having a lot of moments where instead of sleeping or even taking a nap my mind decides to think of wonderful fanfic ideas. Then I just have to get up and type them. Let me know what you think about this chapter or about the entire story so far, is everything confusing? Should I fix any errors? Let me know in the comments and I'll try to fix anything, until then
