Merely an Attraction

Chapter 7

I was confused by his action. Was he in love with me? No, because the next day he started talking to me like nothing happened. Was he attracted to me? I don't know, maybe. But then he would've done more than that, no? Is he a player? I should ask one of his friends about that.

"Erza, is Natsu a player?" Mira and I were sitting in Erza's room, playing dress up. She had tons of clothes. They both looked at me, then at each other. Finally their answer was a no. "I wouldn't think that he is a player. Since he was young, he was so nice to everyone." I should maybe ask a guy friend about it. "Why do you ask", Mira said. "He just seems like the type of guy. You know fooling around all the time, never being serious, coming back late at night, and so on."

I put on a dress and started walking around the room. "You can keep it." Erza said. "Are you serious? This dress must be hella expensive!" I yelled. She just laughed at my comment. "I got it as a free sample when designing it. And it looks better on you anyway." I thanked her and plopped down on the couch. I took a sip from my juice. "Did you find a new job?" Mira then asked.

Because of that I almost choked on the juice. However I still spilled some on the dress. Great. "How did you-" "I work in the same company. They told me that you were replaced by someone else."

"Who knows about this?" I asked panicking. The dress didn't matter at the moment. "Only me and Erza." Okay, if it's these two they won't tell anyone. "I'm trying to get a new one, but it's pretty hard to get one in Magnolia."

That evening we, so basically me, Natsu, Erza, Levy, Gajeel, Gray, Juvia, Wendy and Cana, wanted all to go out again but the once snow free winter suddenly prepared a blizzard for us. Even the power went down. So we decided to hang out in my apartment and play some games.

I entered the kitchen to get the cards and Natsu followed me.

"It hasn't snowed for a while in Magnolia." He said. "Maybe." I just said while searching through the drawers. "Are you mad at me?" Natsu asked then as he saw that I sounded a bit annoyed.

I didn't answer.

"Is it because of the kiss?" That moment the flashlight fell out of my hands. I was a bit surprised that he would ask so straightforward.

"No that's not the case. It's just that I don't feel quite well." I said, which was also partly true. I had a headache since morning.

"Ah okay. And here I thought that it might have bothered you. I mean it's just a kiss, right?"

I turned towards him and smiled, "Nothing special."

"How come you're so good at this, Lucy?"

"This is the reason why people called me Lucky Lucy."

"Lucky Lucy as in the daughter of the founder of the Heartfilia Concern?"

"No, Lucky Lucy as in a girl who always won in card games." I said with a wink.

"You won every game. Let's play something else", Gray said.

Gajeel laughed, "Somebody here is a sour loser." We started giggling as the two began arguing. Levy then suggested that we should play 'Have you ever' with shots.

"I'm writing down cause I'm not going to drink", said Wendy while taking out paper and pen. "Why don't you want to drink?" Juvia asked.

"Because I'm not really god with alcohol. I get drunk but only one shot." She answered.

"Okay then Wendy. Ask the first question."

"My turn. Have you ever been in jail?" Gajeel, Cana, Natsu, and I drank a shot. "What the hell were you doing in jail?!" Erza asked.

"I didn't do anything wrong! It was just that I was on the wrong place at the wrong time." I said, which was true. My "friends" back then called me out at night and even though my aunt didn't approve, I sneaked out of the house. The police came later on and took us to jail, because the guys started vandalizing the cars.

"Let's just continue. Have you ever been attracted to your neighbor?"

Surprisingly everybody drank a shot. "Now I really want to know every story behind that."

"Including you, Erza. Tell me more about that person." She flushed red, definitely not because of the whiskey.

"Next question!" She then yelled.

"No wait. Answer me first!"

After an hour of playing and drinking, we were wasted. Everybody fell asleep, some on my couch others on the floor. Because I'm such a nice person I brought blankets and cushions.

"Lucy?" It was Natsu. "Hey listen. I'm sorry for earlier. I didn't mean it like that. I just-"

"It's okay. Like I said, just a kiss and I'm okay with it."

"No, you're not! You've been feeling uncomfortable for the whole evening. And I'm sorry. "

"You shouldn't be cause I kinda liked it." I didn't know what else to say and I didn't want him to feel bad because of that.

He raised his brow. And now he thinks I'm weird. First i don't like it, feel uncomfortable and then I suddenly like it. Yep, he definitely thinks I'm weird. He shakes his head. He seemed like he didn't understand anything at the moment and that he wouldn't care less about it.

"While playing 'have you ever', you drank a shot for 'been attracted to your neighbor'. Who did you mean by that?" Natsu asked me shortly after that.

He got me there. I could tell him that it was him, but I don't have the guts for that. But maybe he was thinking about me too when he drank the shot.

"Who did you mean?" I asked him back in a playful tone.

"I thought about a girl who lived here. But she moved out. Now you." Natsu answered. So it wasn't me...

"Someone from the place I lived before I came here..." I said to him, leaning on the couch and closing my eyes.

I felt bad for lying to him. But what would have done the truth? I wanted to stand up and take him in my arms, telling him that I should've been honest with him. I wanted to, but I couldn't. Because I know that it won't work out between us.

Because this is merely an attraction.
