Finally got this done! So sorry for the long break! Life was busy and, while I knew what I wanted to write, how I wanted to write it eluded me. So I hope you enjoy this interesting piece of the story. Introducing: The Host Club! Enjoy!
Disclaimer: I wish I owned this, but I'm not Japanese, so I can't be Rumiko Takahashi nor Bisco Hatori.
Kagome never thought she would find herself in this situation.
Then again, she'd never even thought of a situation like this ever actually happening.
She had never given it much thought, figuring that Haruhi would be more inclined to studying in the library, loud as they all were, rather than finding the student in this… place.
"Welcome," As soon as the chorus of voices rang out in the third Music Room, Kagome was prepared to shut the door and run when she had spotted the crossdresser amongst the group of men.
"Haruhi-kun? What- I- you- why?" Was all the miko seemed to be able to stutter out.
"Ah, Kagome!" The name-without-honorifics felt odd on the crossdresser's tongue, mainly because she still didn't know the odd newcomer and because it was a less common name to begin with. But, the female student insisted, so Haruhi didn't argue. It took
a moment for the scholarship student to realise the confused looks between the host club members and the girl's faces were because of her.
"Hey, isn't this the new girl from our class?"
"Yeah, why is she here?" The questions among the twins were brought to Kyouya's attention.
"So you're Taisho Kagome, correct?" Startled by the direct attention, the girl nodded.
"Y-yes, I,um… sit next to Haruhi-kun," Kagome was nearly squirming under the cool host's piercing gaze.
"Well, Taisho-chan-"
"Please, just Kagome, I don't really care for formalities," 'Well, if you call periodically living in the Feudal Era where surnames only exist for the noblesand habitually calling people by their first names not caring for formalities…' She knew
it was probably a bold move to make -the glare she received for interrupting him hinted at it- but she did not like being referred to as Taisho at all. The familiarity with the name and the feeling of dread that wouldn't settle shook her whenever
she heard it.
"Fine then, Kagome…" Eyes taking a quick glare at his notebook and back to the girl, he asked. "Have you come to see Haruhi, then?"
"Yeah… I was wondering if, after you're done with everything here, we could talk?" Kagome turned toward Haruhi, meaningful look on her face, referring to the 'help' she was asking about before.
"Sure, it'll be a while, so do you wanna hang around for a bit, or…?"
"I-" The first five seconds of 'Searching for the Sacred Jewel' rang on repeat throughout the room. Kagome took her phone out of her pocket, signalled for the group to give her a minute, and walked away to answer the call. "Moshi moshi," She smiled towards
the group apologetically holding up one finger againto signal to wait for a minute. An unrecognizable voice that chilled her to the bone responded.
*"So you're 'igurashi Kagome, huh? 'was expectin' more from ya, given the tales m' boss's told me, but ya seem t'be nothin' short 'ordinary, dearie," The girl visibly tensed, slightly concerning the rest who couldn't hear the voice.
"And who do I have the pleasure of speaking to? You're not my mother, so who are you?" Kagome bristled quietly, resting her hand on her hip.
"'There others 'round? 'd watch your tongue, , who knows wha' could 'appen to that little entourage o' yours," Kagome stiffened, noticeably to the hosts standing the closest to her. Unfortunately, even the closest ones
were just barely out of perfect eavesdrooping range. "You are bein' watch'd, now. Can't 'ave our little Muffet try t' run 'way, now can we? Their presence 's un'tectable, so don't bother tryin', miko," Kagome made a sound of agreement, nodding
hesitantly. "Now, make up an excuse t' leave the room. Then after, head righ'till ya reach the third lib'ry. Further 'structions'll be disclosed aft'wards,"
"Wait-!" The call ended abruptly, leaving the teenager weary. 'Who was that?' She thought.
"Ne, Gome-chan, who was that?" Honey voiced her thoughts, sounding innocently curious enough to mask the underlying dangerous suspicion from what little he heard.
"It was an unknown caller ID. They had the wrong number," 'Yikes, that was a bad lie,' Kagome though, internally wincing, as she looked to see only a few of the hosts actually believed her. "Haruhi-kun, you know, maybe we could talk another time?
I just remembered I had something to do this evening, and can't wait for you to finish… Whatever this club does, so I'll talk to you some other time, okay?" Kagome hurriedly turned around, exiting the room.
"O...kay?" The scholarship student wasn't entirely sure what to make of what just happened. First, the female student seemed annoyed, then horrified, and was nowsuddenly leavingthe room in a hurry. Something wasn't right with what was
going on, and Haruhi just couldn't figure out what it was.
Apparently it was obvious to the less oblivious hosts. "Tama-chan?" Honey's voice lowered just slightly, a sign that things were really serious.
"What is it, Honey-senpai?" A princelyvoice rang out, tone slightly nervous and a bit confused at the lack of playfulness normally in the senior's demeanor.
"I think Gome-chan's in trouble," And like that, the light confusion in the air dissipatedas everyone began to pay attention. Tamaki's expression hardened as the nervousness shifted into that of determination.
"Thereseems to be another princess in distress,"
"And what do you propose we do, King?" Kyouya questioned, pushing up his glasses and knowing exactly what his friend would say next.
"We're going to find out why and save her, of course,"
This was the direct opposite of what Haruhi had in mind. She should've known by now that the club members weren't just going to ask about it later. Looking disdainfully at the professionalcommunicator on her hip, she couldn't help but think she
was a five year old on a 'mission'.
"Yo, boss, we've spotted her. She's in the third library,"
"Good job, you two. Let Kaoru know we'll be heading to your position right now. Did you hear that, everyone?" The crossdresser wanted to groan in frustration. Of course everyone could hear him. Aside from the twins, everyone had their own device (where
did they even get these and how did they get them so quickly? Damn rich people) and was spread out around the high school end of the academy.
"Got it," The twins were searching the libraries, and the offices, seemingly lucky enough to find the mysterious girl who was supposedly in trouble.
"Understood," Kyouya was checking the classrooms, specifically the ones which weren't being used during after school club activities (which was only a surprising few. Apparently, rich kids had a club for every single activity they could come up with).
"Hn," Mori headed toward the courtyard, not that it couldn't be seen from the hallways, but he claimed to know of certain nooks and crannies that were out of sight from any courtyard windows (how? Well, it is Mori. He probably found them during
breaks between class. He does seem like the type of guy who likes peace and quiet at times).
"Okay!" Honey was checking out the cafeteria and the club-specific rooms (again, supercilious rich people using their money for entertainment over practicality) in case Kagome was in trouble there.
Meanwhile, Haruhi was scouring the halls they weren't already checking. Nothing eventful was happening where she was, but the feeling of being watched didn't go away no matter how much she tried to shake it off and blame it on the paranoia of being alone
in the halls of the school.
"-ruhi? Haruhi!" Finally shaken out of her stupor, the scholarship student answered back.
"What? Sorry. Yeah, I'll head over. See you in a sec," Haruhi rushed over to the third library, finding the doors closed, possibly locked. The Host Club members were surrounding the doors, trying to figure out what to do. "Are Hikaru and Kaoru inside?"
Tamaki nodded.
"We'd want to contact them, but Kyouya said that Kagome-san inside may hear the noise, and would run. They said themselves they would contact us if anything was happening," At that moment, Kaoru's voice hissed from the communicator.
"Hey, Boss, we're in a bit of a… weird situation. Not sure how weird yet, but I'd say don't come in, no matter what. We're fine, haven't been spotted, but…" There was a pause. "Well, I'll let Hikaru explain what's going on," Another pause, and then Hikaru's
voice began to whisper from the device.
Kagome entered the third library, doing a once over of the library to make sure no one else was inside. Not sensing anything, she turned and looked around, as if trying to see something that wasn't there. "Okay, I'm here. Now, whoever or whatever you
are, hurry up and show yourself. I don't have all day to be wasting my time like this,"
"Ara, ara. Feisty, aren't we? No wonder why he likes ya so much," The teenage girl gasped, turning around to gaze up at the female snake youkai, sitting, legs crossed, atop a tall bookshelf. "'m almos' tempted t'kill ya right here an' now," Kagome
subconsciously fell into a position that signified she was either ready to fight or ready to bolt from the room with all her strength. "But, alas, m'boss denies me the pleasure. But 'does 'llow me t'make sure ya won't go lookin' int'is ident'y anymore.
So don't, an' life'll b'easier'n ya,"
"And if I do?" Kagome queried, keeping her guard up as the demoness gracefully landed, wavy curls bouncing with the sudden jolt of landing.
"And then the strange, black haired woman threatened Kagome-san, and they're both in a sort of stand off right now. Kagome isn't looking too happy right now, and the lady is saying something about her boss and Kagome being old friends, and the conversation
is getting pretty heated. The tension-"
"Oi! What're you guys still doing in school? It's beenover for a while now,so go home already. You too, Fujioka, it's not safe to walk during late hours," Haruhi's homeroom teacher, rushed over to the group and overheard the conversation on
the communicators.
"-I don't like the looks of this, Boss. The lady doesn't seem to be too happy with Kagome right- Kuso!" A crash came from the other side of the door. The others looked in panickedconfusionat the door, and the teacher looked horrified.
"'sider this your warnin', nex't's yours an' anyone that eve'knows of your 'xistence's lives," Unheard by all but three, a voice that would send chills down anyone's spine.
"Move!" The teacher shoved the club members aside and rammed his shoulder into the door. All shared confused, worried glances until Kaoru came in on the device.
"Guys, a bookshelf just randomly landed on Kagome-san! We don't know if she's dead or not, but we can't move to check! The lady's still here! I suggest coming in now would really help!" And with that incentive, The entire host club helped slam open the
library doors and entered the scene. Everything was described just as the twins claimed, aside from one thing; the woman was gone.
Ahhh, cliffhangers. Hate to read 'em, Love to write 'em. So, for those who didn't understand that messy jumble of slurring done by this mysterious new character, here is a translation:
"So, you're Higurashi Kagome, huh? I was expecting more from you, given the tales my boss has told me, but you seem to be nothing short of ordinary, dearie...Are there others around? I'd watch you're tongue, Mikosan. Otherwise, who knows
what could happen to that little entourage of yours... You're being watched, now. Can't have our little Muffet try to run away, now can we? Their presence is undetectable, so don't bother trying, miko... Now, make up an excuse to leave the room. Then
after, head right until you reach the third library. Further instructions will be disclosed afterwards... I'm almost tempted to kill you right here and now... But, alas, my boss denies me the pleasure. But 'does allow me to make sure you won't go
looking into his identity anymore. So don't, and life will be easier on you... Consider this your warning, next it's yours and anyone that even knows of your existence's lives,"
Now, the thing I've noticed when people write in snake like characters is that the 's's are always pronounced, so I thought instead to make a character who more often than not slithers from one word to the next. It makes an interesting character, I think!
:D
Well, Looking Forward to the next update? See you then! Oh! And Review! I do love hearing everyone's thoughts!
