Summary: Sami Parker already has one adopted "daughter" and she's a handful as both a daughter and a sidekick. So, one more out of place girl in her care wouldn't hurt, right? Right?

Middleton, Pennsylvania (Parker Residence)(Next Morning)...

"Sami! Time to get up!" Bloom hollered up the stairs.

Groggily, Sami sat up in her bed. She stretched out her limbs in order to wake them up before sitting up. She didn't even bother glancing down at the clock as she got herself out of bed entirely. After a trip to the bathroom, Sami threw on her bra, a black t-shirt, and a pair of jeans. She didn't bother with her hair or makeup. Wearily rubbing at her eyes, she decided to head downstairs and join the rest of her family for breakfast. Her descent down the stairs was a quiet one, until the sound of little girls giggling broke through the air. This sound caused her to give a look of confusion, listening for the noise again. Sure enough, there were little girls giggling somewhere within the house.

'What the hell?' she thought.

There was no way in hell Mindy, or Esther, would be giggling at what the other said or did. Unless the other was severely injured in some shape or form. For fear of Mindy's safety, Sami rushed down the remaining stairs to investigate. The giggling got louder as a little girl's muffled voice spoke, sounding as if they were telling a story. When she reached the bottom of the steps, Sami peaked her head around the corner. Her eyes widened at what she saw.

Mindy was indeed the one giggling, and luckily, Esther was no where to be seen. That is not why Sami was shocked. No, she was shocked at the fact that Gohan was visiting and had the little girl from the giant Ice Tomb with him. Samantha was telling Mindy a story about a little boy named Eddie and something about his money jar. The story caused Mindy to laugh in response to "Eddie's" misfortune. The blond stopped once she saw Sami, but smiled and waved,

"Morning Sami!" Mindy said, causing everyone to shift their attention to her.

Sami offered a shy smile in response. The little ice girl stared at Sami in bewilderment, before curtsying, "Hello, Sami." Samantha said.

"Isn't she just precious?" Sami's mother, Bloom asked in amusement.

The older brunette nodded, giving the little girl a wave back, before observing her attire. She was dressed in a Victorian Era school dress, much like in her photo from the old time newspaper. She eerily reminded Sami of Esther, but pushed the thought aside. This little girl gave off more of a pleasant air, unlike Esther who practically gave off a deceitful impression the second she came through the door.

Speak of the Devil, Esther had just descended down the stairs. The girl was awake and dressed in school-girl garb, as usual. She gave the room a once over, dark eyes stopping to analyze Samantha. The expression on her face was, more or less, a mix of disgust and disapproval. It soon evolved into a look of fake interest as soon as Bloom, Peter and Gohan turned to greet her. Mindy only glared at Esther, silently wishing that the raven-haired girl would just go back to where she came from.

"Esther! Come over here and meet our guest!" Bloom said in an excited manner.

Esther "humphed" in response, but approached the young brunette. She curtsied, to which the unknown girl returned with a shy smile, "Hello! My name is Samantha Parkington. You're Esther?" Samantha asked in wonder.

Esther nodded, looking at Samantha with a look of annoyance. Samantha looked hurt at the expression, not understanding what she had done or said to cause such a reaction. This caused Mindy to give a semi-growl to the raven. Esther took that as her cue to grab her book from the counter and headed into the living-room, bumping her shoulder hard on to Mindy's as she passed her.

Sami snorted and shook her head at that while her parents tried to figure out what had just happened. Gohan's reaction was the same as Sami's, knowing what had just happened. It was blatantly obvious that Mindy and Esther hated each other with a passion. Unfortunately, Bloom and Peter were unaware of such hatred, often mistaking it for jealousy. The older brunette decided that she was going to sit at the table, but nearly stumbled when Samantha wrapped her arms around her hips and hugged her. Sami stood frozen in place, surprised at the sudden action. She looked down at the seemingly tiny brunette and hesitantly hugged her back, patting at the soft brown hair.

The sound of her mother saying "aw!" forced a blush on to Sami's face. Samantha's buried her face into Sami's stomach, a muffled "You're warm." could be heard, causing Mindy and Gohan to chuckle in amusement. Mindy then got up and hugged Sami from behind, causing everyone to laugh at the scene,

"I want a hug!" Ben's voice called from upstairs.

The sound of running could be heard from the floor above and then came from the steps. It then could briefly be heard on the hardwood floor of the dining room before Sami released an "oof!" as Ben nearly tackled her. Luckily, Mindy and Samantha jumped out of the way in order to avoid getting hit by the fourteen year-old boy. He squeezed Sami, causing her to release a grunt of pain.

"Oh, I wish I had my camera!" Bloom said.

Peter whipped out his phone and took a picture with it, promising to send it to his wife later. Sami shimmied her arms out of Ben's hold and whacked at his head repeatedly. He backed off slightly, whacking at her back. Peter put his phone on the counter before putting both Sami and Ben into headlocks. He then turned his attention back to Gohan as the two brunettes tried to escape their father's grasp.

"So, Han," he began casually, "what's with the surprise visit? You usually call beforehand."

The Asian male ushered Mindy and Samantha into the Living-Room before turning back to his adoptive parents, clearing his throat, "Samantha can't stay with us."

Bloom and Peter exchanged worried looks, before looking back at him,

"Why not?" Peter asked.

With a sigh, Gohan gave them both a said look, "Videl said that she's not ready for a child. She doesn't think she can handle it." he explained.

"She can't handle it?" Bloom began, a little angered, "Gohan! You're sister just adopted Mindy last year, and she's seventeen!"

"...Yeah." Sami agreed hesitantly.

"Understandable, but..."

"But nothing!" Peter interjected, "What are you going to do with that little girl? You can't just abandon her!"

"That's why I'm here." Gohan said.

The room became silent. Samantha and Mindy peaked their heads up over the couch to see what was going on. Ben and Sami were released from Peter's grasp, looking between their parents and Gohan. Sami caught Mindy and Samantha looking, signaling with her head that Mindy should take Samantha upstairs. With a nod, Mindy lead Samantha up to her room. Once they heard the door close, Peter and Bloom released their breath.

Peter huffed and looked back at Gohan, "You're leaving her here." Peter concluded. Gohan nodded.

Bloom huffed as well, "Gohan, this isn't a foster care service. You're father and I are very busy. He has SHIELD and Avengers work, not to mention working with the Daily Bugle. I have to help Aunt Stella and the girls manage the Pet Shop in Gardenia Square and teach classes at Alfea."

"What about Bruce Wayne?"

"The Batcave is crowded enough." Sami added.

"Then what about you?" Gohan asked, motioning toward Sami.

The brunette froze for the second time in shock, but then relaxed as she thought about it. Their parents gave him a look of disappointment before looking at her, waiting for her response. Ben stood, waiting as well. She looked up at them all, a look of uncertainty on her face. Could she handle looking after another child? Mindy was already a handful herself, but she already proved to be independent enough to look after herself from time-to-time. The difference between Mindy and Samantha was that they were from completely different time periods...literally. She couldn't look after herself like Mindy could.

Sami was unaware that her parents had voiced against Gohan for her. Her mother explained that she was already looking after Mindy and that she could not handle it. Peter added that Sami was still young herself and had a life of her own. That the last thing she needed was another little girl to look after. Gohan argued that Sami had watched the Kid Heroes thousands of times and loved kids, believing her to be more than capable enough to take care of another girl. Ben asked Sami why Gohan had not approached their older sister Tru about the idea.

There was just too many things happening at once, causing Sami to become very anxious at this point. Her parents didn't think it was a good idea for her to take in Samantha, Gohan thought it was absolutely genius, Ben wanted to know why Tru was not approached about this. Sami could not take it any longer, too overwhelmed and unable to handle anymore of this.

"Jesus Christ, enough!" she blurted out, quickly covering her mouth after.

The commotion ceased, all eyes now on her as they were surprised at her reaction. Esther had even turned her attention away from her book to stare at Sami. The brunette took her hand off of her mouth and breathed, face becoming neutral once more. She looked at all of them carefully, figuring out just what to say. She first reminded Ben that the reason Tru had not been involved was because she was laying low in New York City and did not need anymore distractions. That, and her and Gohan did not get along (thanks to Videl). Ben nodded in response.

Blue eyes turned toward her parents, "Mom, Dad. Gohan's right. I could handle the Kid Heroes, I can handle Samantha. She's just one little girl. Besides, I'm sure Mindy's sick of hanging around Ben and Dick and could use a girl around here who's around her age."

Ben glared at Sami, "Hey..."

She waved him off, turning to look at Gohan, "As for you. Yes, I'm a little disappointed in you and Videl...well, mainly Videl, because you at least work at Oscorp all day. I don't think she's not ready, but more likely she doesn't want to be ready for a child. She's not mature enough to take care of herself, let alone a child." Gohan gave her an incredulous look.

Sami nodded, rolling her eyes, "I know, "isn't that the pot calling the kettle black?" No, unlike Vid, I don't spend my free time partying or hanging out in local taverns. Not my style. I prefer to hang out with friends here or at their houses. And yes, I do bring Mindy along." she explained, causing Gohan to shut his mouth.

No one said anything in response to her side of things, so she took that as a sign that they were all on board. She asked Gohan if he had brought anything, if there was anything, of Samantha's that he needed her to bring into the house. He nodded, saying that his friend who worked in an old Victorian Museum, bring him clothes from Samantha's former home. Sami raised a brow, silently asking him how he had managed that on short notice. He smiled, telling her that he had hooked up with the girl back in college. The brunette made a face, not really wanting to know and/or imagine that.

"How did your friend know which house was hers?" Sami asked.

"Research." he simply said with a proud smile.

The teen rolled her eyes and followed her brother outside to his car. She could see through the windows the suitcases full of clothes sitting on the backseat. He unlocked the vehicle and allowed Sami to take out one suitcase while he grabbed the other. After they were in the house, they decided to take the bags up to Mindy's room. Peter went out to Gohan's car to grab the remaining bag from the trunk, Gohan thanking him for doing so.

Mindy and Samantha looked up at them curiously. Samantha turned her focus away from the doll collection that Mindy was showing onto the bags the trio carried in from outside. She immediately felt a mix of happiness and sadness. She was happy that she got to stay here, but sad because Gohan didn't want her at his house. His fiance sounded pretty angry that she was at their house last night into this morning. She remembered Videl constantly telling Gohan over and over again that she didn't want a child unless it came out of her, whatever that meant.

Nonetheless, Samantha gave them all a small smile as she turned toward them. She glanced down between the bags and Sami and Gohan. With a nervous cough, Gohan got down on one knee and placed his hands on Samantha's shoulders,

"Samantha, you're going to stay here now. Sami," he motioned to the older brunette, "is going to take good care of you. She 's very nice and loves kids."

"I know." Samantha said quietly, hugging Gohan.

Tears brimmed in her blue eyes. Gohan sniffled and hugged the girl back. She hadn't known him long, but she didn't want him to go. Something inside her told her that everything would be okay, that Sami and her family would take care of her. Gohan, meanwhile, promised her that everything would be okay and not to worry. She was in good hands. After a bit, they released each other from their embrace. Gohan planted a kiss on Samantha's forehead before heading back downstairs with Peter in tow. Sami stayed in the doorway, watching the young girl's expression.

Samantha looked up at Sami for a couple of minutes. Sami crouched down in front of the girl, asking her if she was okay. Then, Samantha wrapped her arms around the older brunette's neck and buried her face into the other's neck. She cried softly, quietly asking what she did wrong. Sami hugged her tightly back, telling the little girl that she did nothing wrong and that everything was going to be okay.

She promised that she wouldn't let anything happen to her.
