Sorry about the long wait guys, I'm taking Calculus this semester and it's seriously kicking my butt :( I haven't had time to do much of anything. Thanks for sticking around and waiting as long as ya'll have and I promise to keep writing when I have a few spare moments! XOXO

Disclaimer: I do not own Transformers, as much as I wish it were true. Amy and Kayla are MINE! :)

On with the show!

The sun on this planet really sucks. It's too bright and very hot, not even trees live out this way. Why would Optimus want to make a base in a region that resembled Charr?

"Well, this is the place." He sighed.

The red mech slowly made his way up the short sand dunes and to the hangars Optimus had told him about. He shook his pedes lightly and sand filtered out of his speakers. 'Gross...'

His mind was elsewhere, listening to the rich new music Earth had to offer. He didn't even hear his green travel buddy yelp for him to stop when he came close a certain area of the base.

His gaze flicked to the open hangar doors in passing. His eyes widened momentarily and his pedes stopped moving on their own accord. Maybe he shouldn't have stared, maybe he should have looked away and pretended not to see. He knew for certain that he should have kept walking rather than announce himself.

"Hey! There's a party goin on in here and I'm not invited? What a load of crap!" He regretted opening his big mouth as soon as Jazz's gaze was upon him.

Oh brother.

I squealed in shock, all the boys were suppose to be locked up!

My optics locked onto the Nissan and my body transformed on it's own accord. It felt funny, not painful as I had imagined. I felt more stable on four wheels but my only problem was I couldn't move. Which was partially good because I really didn't want to.

If anyone asked at this time I would deny the nervous clenching of my stomach and the deep blush that was undoubtedly there. Thankfully, everyone's attention was on the newcomer and not on my shivering form.

Jazz's helm had whipped around rather quickly and his armor had raised lightly. His lips had twitched into a slight frown that was hard to see, but picked up as soon as he made optic contact.

"Hey Blastah! Nice ta see ya again but, would ya mind..." His stance changed and he stalked towards the mech in question "GETTIN THE FRAG OUT?!"

Blaster backed up slightly, hands raised as he nervously looked around for an escape "Aight, no need to get rust in your aftplates. Which way do I need to go?"

Kayla decided to make her appearance known then "Um, I think it's too late Jazz. She's already taken her new alt mode."

All optics turned to my alt form and I inwardly cringed. I was hoping the attention would be off of me for a while longer. Alas, it was not to be. I could 'see' everyone staring at me curiously as Elita-1 smiled proudly "I knew you'd have the sense to pick mine! A nice first alt mode won't last."

I couldn't speak just yet, the overwhelming sense of embarrassment overriding my normally happy self. If I could have I probably still wouldn't have told her I had planned on picking the Porsche. As I got to thinking about it, I wondered how badly she expected me to damage my first alt mode. Would if be similar to a new driver?

A knock on the hangar door caught our attention. A forest green mech stood at the door with his back facing inwards. His servo waved in front of his frame as he shook his head "I won't even ask how much damage you did to Blaster. Which way to Optimus?"

Jazz's armor had finally returned to it's normal state as he sighed in defeat "Two buildin' s ovah. Take this Glitch wit ya an we'll catch up later."

The green mech pat his leg armor "Thanks. C'mon Blaster. Stop embarrassing the new femme."

Blaster sighed, shoulders slumped as he turned around and headed to the door "Aight Hound." Just as they turned the corner, Blaster looked back with a slag eating grin "By the way, nice engine!"

Jazz's face lit up in horror momentarily as he turned and rocketed after the two mechs "Imma kill ya!"

We were finally alone in the hangar, the way it should have been in the first place. I groaned and sunk on my axels in defeat "Why me?"

A crash resounded outside as Blaster's voice squealed "Fraggin Primus, Jazz! That fraggin hurts!"

Elita-1 sighed Blaster could be seen further outside as he ran from Jazz, dodging missiles as he waved his hands around in the air. "I'd better get Optimus out here..." She headed for the door, an easy glare set on the mechs.

Kayla set her hand on my hood and smiled "I like the new look girl. I'm a bit surprised you picked the Nissan over the bike, though."

I grumbled lowly "I hadn't meant to. I wanted the Porsche."

Kalya laughed "I'm sure you can change, right? It's not too late?"

Chromia set a servo to her hip "No, she can change only once every solar cycle."

Arcee nodded "I suggest getting used to shifting between forms and driving before you focus on getting a nicer alt mode."

"Alright," I muttered "How do I change back?"

"Just imagine your robot form," Arcee prodded "Remember the feeling of moving your servos, of walking."

Kayla took a step back as I attempted to shift back. My hood popped up slightly and the doors of my alt mode started to fold before shaking and falling back into place. I grunted from the strain and tried again, feeling the muscle like wires and gears struggling to complete the motion.

I groaned "Give me a bit girls, I may need to just rest... starting to feel tired."

They looked in between themselves before Arcee pet my hood "Okay. I'm sure the transfer from Human to Cybertronian has taken a lot from you... as well as the interfacing."

I sputtered "Huh-wah? No!"

Chromia and Kayla looked to me, shocked. It was Kayla who voiced her opinion "Excuse me? Aren't you two suppose to-"

Chromia hushed the woman "Hush, both of you out."

Arcee and Kayla looked to her pleadingly "Noooo..."

Chromia just glared "Go. I must speak with Amy alone."

The two other femmes hung their heads and left with a muttered "Okay..."

Once they cleared the hangar doors, Arcee and Kayla started back to the rec room. If they looked to the right they could see Optimus talking to Blaster and Hound with Jazz glaring at Blaster, his servos in fists. Not a moment later Optimus turned from the trio and back to the waiting Elita. Jazz split himself from the group and started back to the hangar.

Kayla raised a finger to him "Did you get him?"

Jazz gave her a look, but didn't stop as he passed her "Of course! Fragger dared comment on her engine..." He grumbled.

Arcee snickered "Poor Amy, that's probably the most embarrassing thing for a femme and her mech... Well, besides having a spark mate that isn't compatible."

"That can happen?" Kayla wondered, looking up to the pink bot as they walked slowly to the rec building "How does it happen? Do the sparks still merge?"

Arcee smiled at the human's interest "No, they won't merge." She balled her servos and pressed them together to demonstrate "They would remain separate, even the energy that surrounds the spark will reject the other."

She looked sad as she continued "The bots could never reproduce or spark merge. Only true spark mates can merge their sparks." She smiled to Kayla "That's why you must always follow your spark to the right mech."

As they parted ways Kayla took her words to heart, literally. She frowned as she thought about how Ratchet could never spark merge with her ordinary heart. Doomed to have a less intimate bonding than what is expected for his race. She didn't want that for him, she couldn't imagine a relationship without certain intimacies that's normal for a human. Why should he?

Sighing, she reached the med bay. She took her time touching the blue pad on the wall, allowing it to remain open for a few moments before walking through the now open door. She would discuss it with him, it was a matter that needed to me addressed.

If he had a chance to be happier, she would do anything to ensure that.

As soon as Arcee and Kayla left, Chromia huffed "Arcee is too young to be interested in the kinda talk." She glanced to me "Amy, do you know how to interface or what it entails?"

I groaned "Yes, I know all about the birds and the bees Chromia. My mother gave me 'the talk' when I was sixteen."

Chromia tilted her head "I don't know what birds and bees have to do with interfacing.. but I'll tell you plain and simple." Her finger pointed to my hood, the equivalent of my chest "Interfacing is similar to humans in the way that we have similar genitalia. But, there is another intimate way of sharing yourself with another called 'Sparking'."

She looked to me with raised optic ridges "I don't know what you two have to do in order to complete the revival, but make sure you two don't have your sparks connected when you interface. You will almost guarantee a sparkling."

I nodded to myself "Well.. um.. alright, thanks, actually." I stuttered "I actually was curious as to how that worked. That would explain the normal reactions to arousal I used to have as a human. I was afraid something had gone wrong when I transformed."

Chromia smiled gently "No need to thank me. I am just making sure you don't get hurt like Elita." she looked away solemnly "This is no time to be sparking little ones."

My spark felt heavy in my chassis suddenly. Elita and Optimus had a baby? ...Had.. "I understand."

As Chromia stood up and turned to leave, Jazz took her place. He knelt beside me and placed a servo on my hood lovingly "Ya alrigh, sweetspark?"

I huffed "I guess so.. Chromia just told me what I needed to know."

"Then why do ya guess yer alrigh?" His lips formed a slight frown as he thought "Was it somethin bad?"

"No, no, nothing like that." I appeased, raising a bit on my wheels and trying to transform again "I'm just frustrated that I can't shift back."

"Wah was tha?" He blinked

"I'm stuck. As a car."

Jazz's smiled reappeared and he chuckled slightly at my misfortune. "Let's go for a drive then, loosen ya up so ya can transform."

He popped into his alt mode easily, making it look like breathing. He started to roll forward and I urged myself to follow, taking into account what Arcee said about shifting and putting them to use as a car. I could feel my tires starting to roll across the smooth concrete and I inwardly grinned. Baby steps.

As we started to pick up speed outside the base I brought myself to his side "Will this really help me transform? I'd think it would wear me out faster."

"Nah. Get the energon flowin so the transformation comes to ya easier."

I revved my engine lightly to test it "Well, in that case..." I revved again, more powerfully "I'll race you."

Kayla sat on Hound's shoulder plating, inspecting the open wires and joints for any issues. Her fingers worked fast and efficiently, patching some places on his arms that had opened and not healed properly after he had landed.

She hadn't glanced at Ratchet even once this past hour and a half. She couldn't bear it. The thoughts that ran through her head were saddening and the more she thought on them, the more depressed she became.

Kayla let out a shaky breath and leaned back "Alright Hound, you're ready to roll."

Hound glanced at her handiwork and nodded "Wonderful, much more gentle than Ratchet. Thank you."

Ratchet huffed "I heard that."

Hound rolled his eyes and smiled "Yeah, yeah."

The med bay opened and Sideswipe poked his head in "How's Blaster doing Hatchet? Is he going to live?"

Sideswipe barely missed the wrench that flew in his direction as the offended mech scoffed "Don't call me that, and of course he'll be fine. As long as he doesn't repeat his earlier experience. He's lucky I'm on base to patch his sorry aft."

Blaster groaned "Jazz was so mean!"

Ratchet snorted "I'd do the same if you said that to my own mate. What were you thinking, you glitch head?"

Hound laughed "He wasn't!"

Blaster glared at Hound "I didn't expect him to-"

Sideswipe cut him off with a chuckle "Mech, you got off easy."

Ratchet reconnected Blaster's pain receptors and stepped back "Alright, I better not see you again for a good long while." He turned his gaze to Sideswipe "I expect to see you back in here in an Orn for a checkup."

Sideswipe lifted his hands in mock surrender as he backed up quickly "I'm out!"

The mechs took their leave behind Sideswipe. Hound went to lift Kayla from his shoulder, but Ratchet stopped him by taking her into his servos gently. Hound shrugged and dropped his servo "See you around Ratch, and thanks again Kayla."

Once the door closed, Kayla sighed and fidgeted in Ratchet's grasp. He watched her with a raised optic ridge "What's bothering you, Kayla?"

Her throat closed up and she looked away, almost wishing for an emergency. Ratchet vented lightly when she didn't answer and placed his tools on the berth beside them and walked to the back of the med bay. He placed her on the berth and lowered himself to her level, locking optics with her eyes. She looked like she had been crying earlier, how had he not noticed?

He knew something was wrong when she refused to speak with him earlier but he expected it to be another part of her minstrel cycle. This was something different, he could feel it in his spark.

He ran his finger along her chin and picked it up to have her look him in the optics "Kayla, what's wrong?"

Kayla bit her lips and frowned "I..."

"Yes...?" He pressed when she went quiet for a few long seconds.

"I don't want to do this anymore."

"Do what anymore? Fix bots?"

Kayla shook her head and fidgeted her hands "Us."

It felt like a scraplet was let loose in his spark chamber, he vented heavily as he tried to keep his legs from giving out. His spark mate was rejecting him? "Why.." He breathed out. Primus let it not be something he did. Something he could fix.

Kayla's shoulders slumped "I was talking to Arcee earlier and she mentioned that... well.. There's only some sparks that can merge and fulfill the spark bonding."

"Okay?" He questioned, still not seeing where it was going.

"I-I can't give you that Ratch. I can't keep you from being complete. My heart can't possibly mer-"

"Wait." He lifted her up from the berth with a quick hand, taking her to the floor with him as he sat with his back against the berth and her upon his knee. His face was much closer to hers this way and didn't put as much stress on his spinal struts. "You're wanting to disrupt our relationship because of that?"

Kayla looked to his curiously "I want the best for you, and you can't get the best from a human. I can't give you children, or part of my consciousness like another Cybertronian can."

"Oh Kayla," Ratchet vented, shaking his head "If only you knew how happy I am despite those things."

Kayla's heart fluttered hopefully "How can you be?"

"Are you not happy?" He suddenly asked, his gaze once more upon her.

"I am but, then again I am not. I keep thinking of what you could have and I don't want to tie you down."

Ratchet barked a short laugh "Maybe I want that."

Kayla's cheeks flared up and Ratchet ran his finger along her cheekbone "You won't be able to do away with me that easy, mate." He leaned forward to touch his forehead to her's lovingly. "Now, is there anything else you wish to discuss before you try to push me away?"

Having regained her composure, she nodded "Yeah. Arcee said something about interfacing. does it work exactly like us or is there more... involved?"

Ratchet thought for a moment, then stood and headed for the door. He left the med bay far behind as they roamed the corridors and Kayla glanced to him expectantly "Where are we going?"

His other servo touched a pad on the wall, opening a large door. The room was dark as the doors closed behind them. Kayla felt herself being lowered to the floor as he shifted to his alt mode. His words hanging in the air.

"Let me show you."
