Chapter 23
John had been surprised when his phone started ringing shortly after Anna had disappeared. He looked at the caller ID and was even more surprised to see that it was Sherlock calling him.
"Sherlock? Why are you calling me?"
"I need help." Sherlock answered rather frantically.
"What with?"
"It's Pandora! She came and she got to Deanna."
"What did she do? Is Deanna okay?"
"I don't know. She collapsed to the ground. She's hyperventilating. What do I do John? I can't exactly take her to the hospital!"
"Okay calm down. Is she still awake?"
"Yes, but I think she's trapped inside a memory."
"I'll try and get there soon. Just make sure she doesn't hurt herself."
"Okay, bye John."
"Bye Sherlock."
John hung up the phone and turned to Sam.
"We have a problem."
"What is it?" Sam asked confused.
"Pandora found them."
Sam stared at John in absolute shock. "Are they alright?" He asked anxiously.
"No. Sherlock said that Deanna's caught in some sort of flashback."
"We have to go help her!" Sam screamed.
"And we're going to." John told him determinedly.
"Can you take us there?" Sam asked Ruby.
Ruby nodded and placed her hands on Sam and John's forearms. Within seconds they were back in 221B. When they entered the flat they found Sherlock holding an unconscious Deanna in his arms frantically trying to wake her up.
John rushed over to him and checked Deanna's pulse, received the hind that she did in fact have one.
"Deanna, can you hear me?" He asked. When Deanna gave no response he tried again. "Deanna, it's me. It's your dad. Can you give me a sign that you can hear me?"
Deanna still gave no response. Sam cautiously walked over to her and tapped Deanna's cheek.
"Sis, it's me Sammy. You're scaring me. Please sis, please wake up." He said pleasantly to Deanna's unconscious form. But Deanna still failed to wake up or even respond.
Every doctor instinct John had told him that he should take Deanna to a hospital. But he couldn't bring himself to it, he didn't know why.
"Lay her on the couch. If she doesn't wake up in the next hour we'll take her to the hospital." John stated.
Sherlock and Sam cautiously picked Deanna up and laid her on the couch. As they waited for Deanna to wake up Sam sat beside her stroking her hair.
"It'll be okay Deanna. I'm here, I'm not leaving you. Just... Don't leave me, okay? Dont leave me."
Meanwhile Deanna...
Deanna woke up to see Alastair looming over her. She looked around to see the prison that was hell once again surrounding her. But that couldn't be right... Could it?
No cas had gotten her out. Alastair laughed at her.
"Nice to see you again Deanna. Ready to have some fun?"
Deanna frantically shook her head. "You're not real, this isn't real." She murmured to herself.
Alastair laughed historically at that. "You think this isn't real?" He asked mockingly.
"I got out. Cas got me out." She said more to herself than him.
Alastair grabbed her face and pulled it so she was looking right at him. "Why do you think that you got out?" He asked curiously.
"I was on earth, with my family."
"A simple party trick." Alastair says dismissively.
"Cas got me out!" She yelled at him.
"You really think that that pathetic excuse for an 'angel' could do what a thousand other angels couldn't?"
"Yes, because why would you allow me to believe that I was happy?"
"So I could take it away. After all Deanna, why would an angel save you? Why would anyone save you?"
"Because unlike you there are people who care about me, and they'll always save me. No matter what you do to me I'll always fight for them and that's what matters."
"Awwww you think they love you... That's adorable. But in the end Deanna they don't matter because you're here with me. I can do whatever I want to you."
Alistair smiled a twisted and perverted smile. He raised a silver blade and slid it across Deanna's neck drawing blood.
The second the blade hit her she saw a bright light and suddenly she was in her childhood home. The home in which her mother had died. She walked up the stairs listening as they creaked under her weight. When she entered Sam's room she saw a man leaning over his crib. A man she now knew as Moriarty.
She saw as Mary walked into the room upon hearing Sam's crying. She wanted to tell at her to run, leave just do anything but enter the room but no words came. She watched helplessly as her mum was pushed against the wall by Moriarty. She watched as her mum was lifted onto the ceiling until she was above Sam's crib.
"It's your fault." Her mother's voice said to her. Deanna cried as blood began to drip from her mum's white pjs. She watched as John came in and found his wife there. As she burst into flames. She couldn't bear it. Before the memory could assault her any longer she saw a bright white light and found herself in a motel room with a man in a suit standing in front of her.
"Who are you?" She asked him.
"I'm Zachariah, I'm Castiel's superior." He said almost cockily.
"And how do I know that? For all I know you could be a demon in disguise." She said skeptically.
"You're smarter than I thought you were. I can't exactly prove to you that in an angel here given that were in your mind after all."
"Wait you're in my head? Get the hell out dude!"
"I will but first I want to show you something."
"Something that just had to be done while I'm unconscious?"
"Yes."
"Why?"
"So when the time comes you'll make the right choice."
"To do what?"
Before she got an answer Zachariah snapped his fingers and she found herself laying in an abandoned alley. The house windows were smashed and everything looked like it had been brutally destroyed. She couldn't help but wonder where Zachariah had sent her.
She walked out of the alley and saw the word Croatoan written on a giant wall. Croatoan? Wasn't that some sort of virus she wondered to herself. She saw a little girl on the ground and ran over to help her. Before Deanna could even get close huge girl hissed and lunged at get. The girl must've had the virus. Deanna sprinted as far away from the girl as possible. Unfortunately she managed to run into a massive group of Croatoan infected people, there had to be at least 50 of them.
Seeing no other choice Deanna ran for it. She ran into a wired fence. A group of men on the other side of the fence appeared with shotguns shooting everything in site. Deanna ducked down to avoid being hit. Once every Croatoan infected person was dead the group left.
Deanna ducked the fence. On the other side she saw a sign.
'Croatoan hot zone. Lawrence, Kansas August 1st 2014.'
But that couldn't be right it was only 2009. How could she be in 2014? Time travel isn't possible in real life... Right? Before she had time to contemplate it any more a pipe collided with her head and she blacked out.
Meanwhile in the waking world.
It had been ten minutes since Sam and John had arrived at the flat and Deanna was still out like a light. Sam was really starting to get worried. What is she didn't wake up? Sam sat beside her muttering nonsense in an attempt to wake her.
"Come on sis, you can do it. You know it's strange... being able to talk to you without being interrupted. It's strange to see you lying here lifelessly. Please Deanna, if you can hear me, please just wake up."
Sam got up and walked to the other side of the room away from Deanna. He wouldn't cry! Sam flopped down on a chair with a loud sigh.
"What do we do now?" He asked.
"What can we do? It's not like we can leave her alone to go and track Pandora. We can't wake her, we can't find Pandora. What can we do?" John asked.
"That's it!" Sam said suddenly. "We find Pandora!"
"Sam..." John said gently. "Even if we could just leave and track her down, it's not like she would help us. She's a demon remember?"
"I'm going to find her. You can't stop me! Pandora is going down!" Sam exclaimed determinedly.
Sam turned and walked out the door ignoring John's yells at him to stay. Once Sam had left John turned to Sherlock, sighing.
"Well that could've gone worse." John said.
"Right now Sam's defiance isn't the biggest concern. He's going after an incredibly powerful demon, he has no hope at beating her alone. He's going to need help whether he wants it or not."
"But what about Deanna? We can't just leave her here."
"Sam needs our help John, just call Molly or Mrs Hudson I'm sure they'd be willing to 'babysit' Deanna."
"Alright, you're right... as always."
Sherlock threw his phone at John which he caught with remarkable skill. John quickly dialed Molly's number as she'd probably be able to deal with Deanna better than Mrs Hudson. Also Molly had constantly bugged him to be able to see his kids. Suppose this is as good as time as any for her to see Deanna.
"Hello?" Molly said answering the phone.
"Hi Molly, it's John."
"John? Why are you calling?"
"Sherlock and I have to go out and find Sam. We need someone to look after Deanna for us."
"Why does she need looking after John? She's a grown woman she can take care of herself."
"She's unconscious." John stated.
"Why haven't you taken her to a hospital John!?"
"It's complicated. Can you watch her or not?"
"Sure. I'll be there in ten minutes."
"See you then."
"Bye." Molly said hanging up the phone.
John turned to Sherlock and said "She'll be here soon."
"How soon?"
"Ten minutes."
"That's not soon enough. Who knows how far away Sam could be by then."
"Just hack into the security camera's and trace him."
Sam...
After Sam had left the flat he walked down the street for a bit just thinking to himself. Sam couldn't help wondering where he would be now if Deanna had never come and got him at Stanford. Would Deanna be in this mess? Would he be living the 'apple pie life' with Jess? Sam shook his head shaking away the questions gnawing at the back of his mind.
No. It didn't matter if things could've turned out differently. This is his life, and honestly, he wouldn't give it up. Perhaps he would've had a wife and maybe even kids if he'd stayed, or maybe he'd just wind up getting them killed. It really didn't matter, because here he is with his family and as Deanna loves to remind him, family is what's most important.
Sam clenched his fists in determination. No matter what it cost he was going to kill Pandora stone dead for what she had done. He pulled out his phone and began to dial Ruby's number. Before he could finish she was standing in front of him.
"Hello Sam." She said.
"Hello Ruby."
"Is there a reason you were just about to call me?" She asked curiously looking at his phone.
"Yes, I need you to help me with something."
"What is it?"
"I need you to help me find Pandora."
"Pandora? Sam, surely you're not going after her."
"Why? Is there a problem with me going after her?"
"Yes. She's very powerful, one of the oldest demons out there. Also she's Lilith's right hand man."
"Lilith? Who's that?"
"The most powerful demon. The first one. She's the head of the whole plan to start the apocalypse."
"So are you saying what I think you're saying?"
"To use Pandora to get to Lilith? That's exactly what I'm saying, because after all if you cut off the head the body will flounder."
"Then what are we waiting for?" Sam asked with a smirk.
"Absolutely nothing!"
Ruby placed a hand on Sam's shoulder and within seconds they were transported to another location. Sam may want revenge on Pandora first, but if killing Lilith is what he needed to do to stop the apocalypse then he'll do it. Because he'd rather let Pandora roam free than the devil.
Back to John and Sherlock.
Molly arrived exactly ten minutes after John had called her. While they'd been waiting Sherlock had been trying to track Sam via security camera's but now Sam had completely vanished courtesy of Ruby. Sherlock had been quickly going through the other security cameras to no avail. Meanwhile John had been tending to Deanna attempting to get her to wake up.
Molly knocked lightly on the door indicating her arrival. John answered the door as Sherlock was still attempting to find Sam on the security camera's.
"Hi Molly."
"Hi John. So where's Deanna?"
"On the couch."
"Okay."
"If she wakes up tell her that we had to take Sam somewhere."
"Why not tell her where you're really going?"
"She'd just get worried and insist on going after us. Please make sure she stays here if she does wake up."
"I'll do my best."
"Thanks Molly, now Sherlock and I have to go. See you later."
John moved to let Molly through and she walked over to where Deanna was lying. When she saw Sherlock she gave him an awkward smile but he failed to notice.
"Oh hello Molly, when did you get here?" He said when he noticed her presence.
"Just now." She said shyly. Honestly she thought she'd gotten over her crush on Sherlock. Obviously she'd been wrong.
"Okay since you're here John and I have to go find Sam. I'm sure he's briefed you on the situation with Deanna. Goodbye Molly." Sherlock said curtly.
He walked towards the door and followed John outside shutting the door behind him.
"I hope Sam's okay." John said once they had left the flat.
"He was fine when I last saw him on the security camera's. He disappeared with Ruby."
"The demon Ruby?"
"Do you know any other Ruby's?"
"So Sam's siding with a demon to find another demon? This sounds like a recipe for disaster."
"Good thing he has us to stop him then!"
"Yeah one problem with that plan Sherlock."
Sherlock stared at him blankly as if expecting him to explain.
"We have no idea where Sam is. How are we supposed to find him?"
"We find Pandora."
"We have no leads on her as well! We'll never find him!"
"Don't underestimate me John." Sherlock said with a smirk.
"What do you mean?"
"Come on John, surely even you could figure it out!"
"I'm not you Sherlock. Care to explain."
"John we have the british government at our disposal! Looks like my brother is finally useful for something other than devouring cake."
"But the question is... will he help us?"
"He will, or else..." Sherlock said smiling evilly.
Deanna..
When Deanna 'came to' she was confused and that was putting it lightly. It was odd staring face to face with the very person which had knocked you out, especially when it was yourself. Deanna found herself staring at an older version of herself. The older version looked worn down and tired.
"So you're awake." The future Deanna said to her.
"Yeah. Look before you check I'm not a shifter, or a demon."
"I know I did the tests while you were out. But when I did them i discovered every weapon and lock pick that i carry on me. Mind explaining that? And the resemblance while you're at it?"
"I'm from the past."
"Yeah and I'm batman! Come on let's be serious."
"I am being serious. I'm you. Zachariah sent me here."
"Wait Zach sent you here?"
"Yeah, I take it you... me... we know him?"
"Did Zach say why he brought you here?"
"He said so that when the time comes I'll make the right choice, but I don't understand. What is this choice I have to make?"
"Wait you don't know yet? What year are you from?"
"2009."
"Wait, so you're from before the demons even freed Lucifer?"
"Yeah."
"That, that means that you can stop it. You can stop this whole situation from even happening. Has Sam met Ruby yet?"
"Yes."
"Then you're already running out of time. Keep Sam away from Ruby, just do it."
"Why?"
"Sam will..."
Before the future Deanna could finish her sentence Cas walked into the room. He wore baggy clothes and the trench coat Deanna was used to seeing him in was gone. The second Cas saw both of the Deanna's he looked in between them clearly confused. Cas stared intensely at Deanna (the past one) and took a step back in surprise.
"Strange. You're not from this time." He said sounding slightly stoned. "What year are you from?"
"2009. So can you strap on your angel wings and take me back there."
Cas laughed. "I'm not an angel anymore Deanna, I went mortal."
The future Deanna sighed at Cas. "Are you stoned?" She asked him.
Cas laughed again and smiled a goofy smile. "Generally, yeah."
"God dammit Cas." The future Deanna said facepalming herself. "I need you ready for the mission."
"Which mission is that again?" Cas asked tilting his head to the side.
"You know the one to ice the devil with the colt."
Deanna stared at her future self and Cas in shock. "Wait a minute... You're going to ice the devil?"
"Yes, and you're coming with me."
Cas and Deanna both stared at the future Deanna in shock.
"But if something happens to her..." Cas began.
"She's going." Deanna's future self insisted.
"Alrighty!" Cas said.
Cas walked off in search of other members of the team.
"Why are you taking me?" She asked her future self.
"Because I need you to see our brother."
"What? What's Sam doing with the devil?"
"No, Deanna you don't understand. He's not with the devil he is the devil."
"What?"
Future Deanna sighed. "You see angels require a vessel to be able to inhabit the Earth but certain angels require certain vessels or 'true' vessels as they call them. Sam just happened to be Lucifer's, and we are Michael's. But the thing is that angels need permission to inhabit a vessel unlike demons who just take. I was stubborn, I refused to let Michael in. Look if in your universe the devil does get unleashed say yes. Let Michael in."
"Why don't you try that?"
"I have tried! I yelled yes until my face turned blue, the angels aren't listening!" Her future self yelled.
"But why would Sam say yes?"
"I wish I knew."
It wasn't long after they finished their conversation that Cas returned with the rest of the team that the future Deanna had sent him to get. Sherlock and John both looked between the two Deanna's in confusion.
"Can we have some form of explanation here?" John asked.
"She's me from the past." The future Deanna summed up.
"Alright." John said. "Let's go."
We're going on a devil hunt
We're gonna kill the big one
We're not scared..
A/N: Yup that is happening. Next chapter will be up soon.
Until next time... GOODBYE JOHN!
