Chapter 24
Sam...
Sam and Ruby were relaxing in the library surrounded by books. Sam was good at the research side and was trying to see if he could find anything that could be linked to Pandora or the mysterious Lilith on the internet while Ruby got the fun job of checking the books. Sam managed somehow to get lucky and find at least a bit on Lilith.
Lilith is in fact a demon and a powerful one at that. Myths of Lilith dated all the way back to Adam and Eve. It was said that Lilith was the original wife of Adam, only she rebelled and abandoned Adam prompting God to create Eve. Lilith rebelled because Adam saw himself as her superior but she saw herself as his equal. It is said that when Lucifer refused to bow down to humans he twisted Lilith's soul into that of a demon, making her the first demon ever created.
So Lilith would be more powerful than anything they'd faced. Sam mused to himself. That meant that she'd be harder to take down than the usual sons of bitches they faced.
"Found anything Sam?" Ruby asked from across the room.
"Yeah, Lilith is a nasty bitch."
"She's a demon, what else is new?"
"She's the first demon, Ruby. She's more powerful than anything we've faced before."
"What about the dicks with wings?"
"You mean the angels? Yeah they're powerful but they're nothing compared to Lilith."
"What makes you think she's more powerful than them?"
"Lucifer twisted her soul himself."
"Oh... Then are you sure you want to find her?"
"Yes, I'm sure. She's our best chance at stopping the apocalypse."
"What about Deanna? What's she going to think when she finds out you've gone on this insane mission?"
"Screw her. I'm not a kid anymore Ruby. I'm free to make my own choices! She'll just have to understand that I'm doing this for her. Now. Let's go find this son of a bitch."
Ruby smiled and began on the search for Lilith. As smart as Sam was he'd missed out a major thing. After All why should he trust a demon? Why would a demon be helping him for anything but their own personal gain. Sam was smart, but Ruby was smarter...
Deanna...
In theory going to kill the devil should've been easy. Go in, shoot him and leave but it was anything but. When they arrived they walked around the area scanning for the best entrance. Future Deanna looked up and pointed to a window.
"We go in there."
John looked at the future Deanna with a look of confusion. "You sure about this?"
"Yes." Deanna's future self answered stubbornly.
Deanna looked at her future self and recognised the expression on her face. She was lying to them, all of them.
"Hey.. uh... me. Can I talk to you for a sec?"
"Sure."
The two Deanna's walked away from the crowd where they wouldn't be overheard.
"Tell me what's going on." Deanna demanded.
"What?" The future one asked.
"You're lying to them. There's something you're not telling us."
"I don't know what you're talking about.."
"Oh, really?" Deanna said with a smirk. "Well, I don't seem to be the only member of your posse with some questions, so, uh, maybe I'll just take my doubts over to them."
"Wait."
Deanna smirked at the defeat of her future self. "What?" She asked innocently.
"Look around you this place should be crawling with demons or croats, where are they?"
"They cleared a path for us!" Deanna realised.
"Which means this is a trap." Her future self stated.
"Then we can't go through the front."
"Don't worry we aren't. They are. You and me, we're going in through the back."
"You mean you're gonna feed your friends into a meat grinder? Cas, too? You want to use their deaths as a diversion?"
Her future self looked away unable to face the truth.
"You're making decisions that I'd never make! I'd never sacrifice my friends!"
"You're right, YOU wouldn't."
"They count on you, they trust you."
"They trust me to kill the devil and that's exactly what I'm gonna do."
"I won't let you sacrifice our friends and family to do that."
"You won't?" Her future self questioned.
"Yeah."
And that was the last thing Deanna remembered before she was knocked out into blissful darkness.
When Deanna 'woke up' she could hear the sounds of rapid fire gunshots. Likely the result of her friends and family fighting against whatever was in the trap set for them. She ran around the building to see if she could find her future self. When she got to the other side of the building she saw her future self lying on the ground with a white shoe holding her down as she tried to reach for the colt.
The future Deanna looked at her as if indicating that she should leave but then a snap was heard and future Deanna was dead. The person who had been holding her down turned and smiled at Deanna.
"Oh, hello Deanna."
Deanna stared in shock. It was her brother, it was Sam. Sam had killed her future self. But then again Sam couldn't be Sam, no Sam would never do that. Then it clicked, her future self had said that Sam had allowed the devil to enter his body. This wasn't her brother, this was the devil.
"You've come a long way to see this." Lucifer stated.
"Well go ahead, kill me." Deanna said expectantly.
"Kill you?" Lucifer questioned. He looked down at the dead body of Deanna's future self and laughed. "Wouldn't that be a bit redundant?"
Castiel.
Cas had lost track of how long he had been trapped up in heaven now. He knew he had to get back to Earth though, he had to warn them. It wasn't just that though, he sensed that something was wrong, he just couldn't work out what it was. Cas looked around and noticed that Zechariah had appeared to have left him with just Hael.
"Hael..." He said tentatively.
"Shut up Castiel. I'm not supposed to talk to you." She said rather rudely.
Cas then realised that he wasn't going to get what he wanted by talking. He paced around trying to think of a plan. Then he remembered the angel banishing symbol, it had worked once, why couldn't it work again?
Cas set to work in drawing the symbol. When he was finished he stepped back admiring his handy work.
"Hael..." He said again.
Hael spun around and snapped "What?"
"I'm sorry." Cas said as he slammed his hand down on the symbol banishing Hael to God knows where.
Once Hael was gone Cas made quick work of getting back to earth. He found himself in 221B Baker St, where he had sensed that something was wrong. A young woman was holding a cup of tea and tentatively watching Deanna who was lying lifelessly on the couch.
"Who are you?" Cas questioned.
The woman turned, dropping her tea in surprise. "I'm Molly. Who are you?" She said.
"I'm Castiel."
"How'd you get in? I didn't hear the door?" Molly said suspiciously.
"I'm very quiet." Castiel said deciding that it was better not to tell 'Molly' the truth. "Where are Sherlock, John and Sam?" He asked her.
"According to John Sam's gone AWOL and they're trying to track him."
Cas nodded. "What's wrong with her?" He asked gesturing to Deanna.
"All I know is that she's unconscious. John didn't tell me much else."
Cas nodded and walked over to Deanna.
"What are you doing?" Molly questioned.
"I'm going to help her." Cas stated.
Castiel knelt down beside Deanna and put his finger tips on her forehead.
Deanna stared at the face of the devil in shock. It was her brother, no matter how hard she tried to will the image away it was still Sam. Then it happened, the same scene as had happened in her nightmare from the Mare. The same words.
Deanna stepped further away from Lucifer/Sam. Lucifer pouted. "What are you afraid of Deanna?"
"Oh I don't know, maybe that you're going to deep fry the planet!"
"Why would I do that? Why would I destroy this stunning thing, the last perfect handiwork of god."
Deanna stared at him dumbstruck. She hadn't expected him to say that. Lucifer moved closer to her and said "Did you ever hear the story of how I fell from grace?"
"Oh great, you gonna tell me a bedtime story?"
Lucifer smirked. "You know why god cast me down? Because I loved him, more than anything. But then God created..." He paused for a second. "You. The little...hairless apes. And then he asked all of us to bow down before you—to love you, more than him. And I said, "Father, I can't." I said, "These human beings are flawed, murderous." And for that, God had Michael cast me into hell. Now, tell me, does the punishment fit the crime? Especially, when I was right? Look at what six billion of you have done to this thing, and how many of you blame me for it."
Deanna laughed. "You're not fooling me with all this sympathy for the devil crap. I know what you are."
"Then tell me Deanna, what am I?"
"You're the same thing, only bigger. The same brand of cockroach I've been squashing my whole life. An ugly, evil, belly-to-the-ground, supernatural piece of crap. The only difference between them and you is the size of your ego."
Lucifer smiled. "I like you, Deanna. Goodbye, we'll meet again soon."
"You better kill me now! Or I swear I'll find a way to kill you and I won't stop." She shouted.
"I know you won't. But Whatever you do, you will always end up here. Whatever choices you make, whatever details you alter, we will always end up—here. I win. So, I win."
"You're wrong." Deanna said even though something deep down in her knew he wasn't.
"See you in five years Deanna."
Before Deanna could respond she was pulled out of the horrible future. She found herself face to face with Zachariah.
"Screw you." She said the second she saw him.
"Enough. Deanna, enough. You saw it, right? You saw what happens. You're the only person who can prove the devil wrong. Just say yes." Zachariah said.
"Nah."
"Nah? You're telling me you haven't learnt your lesson?"
"Oh I learnt a lesson alright. Just not the one you were trying to teach."
"What 'lesson' did you learn?"
"That I am not her."
"What?"
"I'm not her. I'm not the Deanna that future holds. I'd never sacrifice my family or friends."
"You're fighting the wrong side here Deanna. You're fighting against the angels, yet we're only trying to stop the devil."
"The Devil who is also an angel, mind you."
"Lucifer is a fallen angel. He's not one of us."
"I think he is. When it comes down to it, you're all the same."
"It doesn't matter what you think of angels Deanna, because I've got you now."
"I don't think so." The voice of Cas said in the background.
Both Deanna and Zachariah turned to look at Castiel.
"Let her go Zachariah." Cas said his tone demanding.
"How'd you get out?" Zachariah questioned.
"It really doesn't matter."
"I guess I'll just have to send you back then!" Zachariah yelled threatenly.
"I'm not going back." Cas stated.
Cas walked over to Deanna and placed his fingertips on her forehead. A bright light shone and they both heard Zachariah scream out "No!"
Deanna shot up. She looked around and saw that she was in 221B with some woman watching him. Castiel was next to her on the ground looking at her in concern.
"Who are you?" Deanna asked the mystery woman.
Molly looked at her. "You're awake?"
"No, I'm asleep." Deanna said sarcastically.
Cas tilted his head at her. "Deanna you are obviously awake, why say you're asleep?"
"It's a thing called sarcasm Cas."
"... Oh."
Deanna turned to Molly. "Where are Sam, Sherlock and John?"
"They had to take Sam somewhere."
Cas looked at her in a confused manner. "That's not where you told me they were?" He said questioningly.
"Uh..." Molly said awkwardly.
"Where are they?" Deanna demanded to know.
"Uhhhhh... They... went... shopping. Yeah, they went shopping." Molly said awkwardly.
Deanna sighed and turned to Cas. "Where did she say they were to you?"
"She said that 'Sam went AWOL and Sherlock and John have gone looking for him.' "
"God dammit Sam!"
Deanna got up and began walking to the door. Molly ran to the door to block her path.
"Where are you going?"
"To find my family."
"No. I can't let you leave. I promised John that I'd keep you here if you woke up."
"Of course he said that. 'Stay at home, get better. Don't go after your brother Deanna. It's dangerous!'" Deanna mocked.
"He just doesn't want to see you get hurt Deanna."
"How do you know?"
"Because I know your father, Deanna."
"We'll I'm not just going to lie here all day chilling on my laptop. Someone's gotta find where they went."
"They'll find Sam, Deanna."
"And who'll find them? If they get in trouble who will find them?"
"They'll be okay Deanna."
"I'm not taking any chances."
"Well you'll have to go through me first."
Deanna sighed and walked back to where Cas was awkwardly standing.
"Cas, can you take me to Sherlock and John?" She asked him.
"Yes." Cas answered. Cas placed his fingertips on her forehead again and they both vanished from the room. Molly stared at where they had once stood in shock. That was impossible! She thought.
Sherlock and John.
After breaking into Mycroft's office and searching the security camera's they had found no trace of Sam or Ruby. They'd ended up in an abandoned alley way because they'd noticed a swarm of criminals gathering there on the security footage. They'd decided to go down and check it out.
They hid behind a dumpster and watched as the criminals talked.
"What do you think they called us here for?" One of them asked.
"Maybe they want to pull off some big crime." Another suggested.
"But what though?"
Before any of the villains could continue talking a loud voice sounded.
"SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH." The voice yelled.
All of the criminals stopped talking and looked to where the voice had come from. Sherlock and John couldn't see the owner of the voice as there were too many of them standing in their way.
"Now you're all probably wondering why you're here. We'll let me explain. I need your help to take down Sherlock, John, Sam and Deanna. You know the ones. Without them we will be free."
Sherlock and John got the freight of their lives when Deanna and Cas appeared behind them.
"Hey guys! What's happening?" Deanna said loudly.
Sherlock pulled her down and shushed her. John then pulled Cas down so he too was hidden.
"You have to be quiet." Sherlock hissed at her.
"Why?" Deanna questioned in a whisper.
"Because those are criminals out there and they want us gone Deanna!"
"Why don't you guys ever do the smart thing and call the police?"
"We had to know what was going on."
"But still..." Deanna was cut off by the mysterious leader of the criminals before she could finish.
"Deanna, Sherlock, John I know you're there. Come on out." The voice said temptingly.
Deanna crawled over to John and pulled his gun from his coat putting it in her back pocket.
"What are you doing?" John hissed at her.
"Probably something stupid." Deanna said smirking.
"Be careful." John whispered to her.
"When aren't I?"
"I'm afraid to answer that question."
Deanna smirked and stood up stepping out of their hiding spot.
"Looks like you caught me." Deanna said as if trying to act defeated.
"Get your friends to come out." The mystery person said.
"What friends?" Deanna asked innocently trying to get a look at who the mysterious voice belonged to.
The owner of the voice walked through the crowd to Deanna, the crowd parted as she walked. The mysterious person was wearing a ski mask and a voice modifier was sticking out of it.
"You know what friends I'm referring to." The masked figure said.
"Nope. No friends here just us Deanna's."
The masked figure grabbed her top pulling her closer. "Don't play dumb with me Deanna, I know they're here."
"Just like I know you're wearing a mask with a voice modifier. Who are you under the mask I wonder?" Deanna said thoughtfully.
Deanna reached over to grab the masked figures mask. The figure tried to bolt but Deanna caught their wrist before hand. She ripped off the mask and found herself staring at a very familiar face.
"Wait, I… know you." She said looking at them.
"I'd hope so." The once masked figure responded.
Sherlock and John both recognized the voice now the modifier was off. But it couldn't be, it simply couldn't. Unable to help himself Sherlock left their hiding spot to see if he was right about who he thought they were. He stared in shock when he saw their face. There was no denying it now.
"Oh, hello Sherlock." They said as they turned to look at him.
"Hello... Mrs Hudson." Sherlock said rather awkwardly.
A/N: I bet none of you saw this coming. :) BAM! Okay... see you next time
