Kagome was at a standstill with her son. He was shaking his head continuously as she tried endlessly to explain how she had gone to investigate the familiar energy that she had discovered was Hao's.
"Mama! He killed Naraku, he's strong...too strong to be trusted! I know he'll kill you if you go to him." He sounded so sure.
Kagome smiled, "I don't know...Shippou. I'm alive, aren't I?"
Giving an exasperated sigh, Shippou nodded, "somehow...but I don't think you should go to him." He eyed her warily for a moment, "you're going to though, aren't you."
She knew he wasn't asking, it was a statement, he knew that she would go with Hao tomorrow. "You will too, otherwise you'll be worried about me." She smiled.
"Of course, but...honestly, I'm scared of Hao...I don't want to be near him."
She nodded, understanding where his fear was coming from. The spider Hanyou who had tormented them and their friends for so long, had been killed within a few moments of Hao's arrival. "In comparison, we are still very weak, incomprehensibly so." She laughed, "but I want to learn...to be stronger, so that I never have to watch those around me die the way I did in the past. Not again..."
Shippou said nothing, merely stared as his mother drifted back to her lost state of mind.

Next Day
(Eleven-Thirty)
Kagome was holding Shippou as she walked to the takeoff of the airport she'd been told to meet Hao at.
Walking around to where a private jet could be seen and a boy was standing alone, she wandered over curiously to him and tapped him on the shoulder. He jumped and turned around to face her, his hair was violet blue and standing on point with his bangs falling into his golden eyes. "By any chance, are you waiting for a boy named Hao?"
"Hao?" he shook his head, "I'm waiting for my...friends..." He seemed to hesitate at the word, but then nodded, as if verifying it himself.
"Yo, Ren!"
The boy she'd walked up to turned to greet said friends. She too turned and her eyes widened in shock. "Hao...?"
"That's Yoh," Ren corrected her, though a frown had formed on his lips at this point.
"Who's this, Ren?" Yoh asked.
"I don't know, she's looking for someone named 'Hao'."
"Hao?" A shorter boy said in surprise, causing Kagome to glance down. She was getting a headache from all of this back and forth. She placed Shippou down who had started to wiggle in her arms, as if uncomfortable.
"Yes, he told me to meet him here. Honestly," she laughed a bit, "when I saw you..." she gestured to Yoh, "I thought Hao had cut his hair or something. The similarities are uncanny."
Yoh looked confused, but said nothing.
Kagome bowed politely and walked away from the group as they started talking amongst themselves. She picked up bits and pieces of their topics, Yoh and the short one were speaking together in hushed tones, but she did pick out the name Hao. 'He said he'd be here...'
"Mama..." Shippou whispered softly from beside her.
"What is it Shippou?"
"I smell fire..."
Kagome glanced around and saw Hao appear on the ground before them.
"You're going to America by plane?"
Ren and his friends turned to Hao and Shippou moved quickly to hide behind Kagome. "Mama!" He whispered urgently to Kagome, pulling at her red hakama's desperately.
"Shippou, calm down!" Kagome kneeled down and looked at her son who was staring petrified at Hao.
Hao hadn't even noticed Kagome and Shippou yet. "If it was me, I would fly over using my Oversoul."
Shippou pulled a bit harder, "Mom!" he hissed.
"What is it?" She asked, trying to calm her son down.
"That Yoh kid smells like him. They have the same scent, the same...blood."
"Brothers?" Kagome asked.
Shippou just shrugged before they turned to look at the confrontation in front of them.
"How can you cross the Pacific with your Oversoul?" The one with spiked blue hair asked, doubtful of Hao's claim.
"Well, I guess you guys can't imagine doing that with your puny Oversouls."
"Puny!?"
"Are you picking a fight?"
It happened before anyone could even move to react, an invisible force of power shot forward and knocked back the boy with the snowboard and the man with the wooden blade.
Hao was simply smiling, "You guys won't stand a chance."
It was Ren who called on what Kagome could only assume to be his own Spirit, and caught the two who had been knocked backwards and were now freefalling.
Kagome wasn't sure what was going on, but when she watched the boy, Ren, charge Hao, her hand instinctively shot up when he was also knocked back by Hao's Spirit of Fire. She created a quick barrier behind him and he was kept from slamming into the ground at the solid shield of energy behind him. Kagome successfully caught everyone's attention.
"...mama..." Shippou nervously called to his mom when eyes turned to them.
"You came," Hao grinned, "who is behind you?"
Kagome glanced down at her son and smiled, "I believe a friend of Yoh and Ren. As for showing up, you did ask...Hao..." she gently pried Shippou's hands from her red hakama's and walked towards Hao who watched her grow closer. The barrier she'd pulled up for Ren vanished after he regained his footing and Hao turned his eyes back to the group of boys watching Kagome and Hao.
"Yoh," Hao looked to the identical boy across from them, "you're still too weak." Yoh called on his own Spirit just in time to try blocking Hao, but was knock back past Ren. Hao walked up to him, "hurry up and become strong, Yoh. For this Future King Hao's sake."
A soft breeze took those words and made them echo, in not only her head, but everyone else's as well.
"Hao-Sama."
Kagome turned her eyes to the tiny voice behind her.
"Let's hurry and go. This country is cold."
Hao who had still been staring down at Yoh, turned and smiled kindly to the little girl, "Okay." His arm found Kagome by the waste and with untold ease, he jumped with her pressed up against him, landing on his Guardian Spirit where his followers were quick to join him just before it took off. Hao glanced down, and called out to the boy below, "I'll be waiting for you, Yoh."
Kagome glanced beside her at Hao and then stared down at the group who watched them off. Her eyes never leaving Shippou, only looking away from the ground when she could no longer see him. 'Be safe...Shippou.'
