Alright so...

First off, as you have all realized, I have changed the rating from T to M. Reason being because I know there will be more mature themes later on in the story. No worries, I will warn you all a chapter before and that chapter as well if there are any themes.

Second off, thank you all for the support, I am so glad that you are content with the story so far and are reviewing! You have no idea how much it means to me that you are telling me what you think, thank you!

Third, this chapter is a time skip. It is now late November; yea I totally skipped over October. But besides that, I'm warning you that way you guys won't be confused. This also shows that Lucy and Lyon have been getting along quite well since the last mishap.

Last off, I am sorry for being offline for such a long time. School really caught me by surprise, and yea. I am sorry again guys…

Normal POV

Lucy sat plopped herself down beside her friends while setting her lunch tray down at the table. All eyes rose to see the blonde, some widened, some twinkled with amusement, some simply acknowledged her presence. The blonde looked up to see all eyes upon her; this simply made the blonde raise a brow in question. Gently, she brushed her loose bangs from her brown eyes and stared at the other girls.

"What?!" Lucy exclaimed in irritation.

A sapphire eyed female smiled sweetly at the blonde, yet her eyes hint the devil behind it all. The sly yet oh so pretty, Mirajane, had finally had a chance on asking the blonde about a certain silver haired male whom seemed to take up most of the blonde's time. Mira had twirled a strand of her snow white hair, and with a curving smirk, she spoke calmly, yet in a sense teasingly.

"Nothing, we're just surprised that you sat here with us." Mira eyed the blonde in interest.

"Quite," Erza added, casually tucking her scarlet hair behind her ear. "You are usually sitting with Lyon most of the time." The redhead looked up sternly, but softly at Lucy, her hazelnut eyes gentle with care, but marked with a hurt glint.

Lucy shrugged, "I get along with Lyon, that's all." She tended to her food, before speaking again, "We have other friends besides each other." Her brown eyes rolled as the obvious statement was said.

"Oh we know that," Mira coyly stated as yet another evil smirk crawled onto her pretty face. "But you two are almost always together nowadays. It's almost worse than how you and Gray were."

Lucy flinched at the last sentence. The word 'were' replaying in her head. She noticed that once she had started hanging out with Lyon more, she and Gray had drifted apart. He would start hanging out with Juvia, and was like he was replaying her with Juvia. It hurt her. Lucy shook it off and pretended to be alright, but how could you be when your best friend practically ignored you.

"What about it?" Lucy mumbled, careful not to hint her sadness.

"Well Juvia thinks that Love Rival should stop it. If Love Rival keeps this up, people will think Lyon and Love Rival are together. As a couple." Juvia hissed, her blue eyes cold and narrowed at Lucy.

Lucy was slightly shocked at Juvia's coldness, but it made her anger rise a bit. "Juvia, Lyon is your best friend, but you rarely spend time with him." Lucy glared at the bluenette.

Juvia shot a glare back, "Juvia has tried, but Lyon is always with Love Rival." Her blue eyes flaring with unknown rage, venom spewing out of her words.

Lucy scoffed, "A really friend would try harder." Lucy was not in the mood for trying to restrain Juvia, nor did she want to try and convince Juvia otherwise like she always did.

Juvia scrunched her nose up as a low snarl emitted from her throat. "What about you, Love Rival? How hard do you try when it comes to Gray-sama?" She adjusted her hat while buttoning her blue flannel.

That one struck Lucy hard. The blonde looked down at her food, clenching her jaw and forced tears back down. Through gritted teeth, she stated, "At least I approached Lyon first."

Juvia rose from her seat and gripped her bag, "Juvia is done. Juvia will be at the pool if anyone needs Juvia." Then with a sharp turn on her heel, the bluenette waltzed off.

Lucy sighed and rubbed her temples. Not even bothering to look up at the other girls.

"Well that was entertaining," Cana stated as she took a swing of her hidden alcohol. A smirk lingered on her lips as she glanced over at the blonde.

"Very..." Levy mumbled quietly as she picked at her food.

Lucy glanced up and rolled her eyes. "I should have kept my temper at bay..."

Erza looked over at the blonde and sighed, she carefully touched the girl's shoulder and smiled, "It's fine. You two just need to talk it out when you both are calmed down."

Lucy smiled at the redhead, "Thanks, Erza."

Mira clapped her hands and then giggled. She soon looked over at Lucy slyly and a small smirk formed on her lips. "So...Lucy," Mira started in her sweet, innocent voice, "What is the story between you and Lyon?"

Lucy saw this one coming, especially from Mira. She casually sat up straighter and relaxed herself a bit. "We're just good friends, that's all."

Mira raised her eyebrow, "That's all?"

Lucy nodded confidently, "Yup, that's all." She smiled at Mira, her eyes showed how amused she was at Mira's stunned expression. She sipped on her juice waiting for Mira's comeback.

"But why?! When are you going to fall in love!?" The snow haired female exclaimed with a pout. Her blue eyes saddened at the blonde's response.

Lucy shrugged, "When I fall in love. Mira, I will be sure to tell you when I fall in love." She smiled sweetly at the older female.

Mira sighed sadly, and then proceeded in eating her sandwich. "I still don't get you, Lucy...by the way, cute top."

Lucy nodded, paused to swallow and then spoke, "Thanks. Surprisingly, my dad got it for me as a gift."

Mira's eyes widened, "Really? My dad can't get any cute clothes for Lisanna and I." Her lips formed a cute pout before she sighed and crossed her arms.

Lucy giggled at the childish manner of Mira as did the other girls. Luckily, Lisanna wasn't here today, or else she'd be embarrassed by her older sister's antics. Mira continued to pout and cross her arms with sad eyes.

"Alright, Mira, I believe that is enough of that face." Erza stated sternly as she glanced over at the snow haired girl.

Mira glared at the redhead, "I don't think it is."

The other girls simply waited for the two females to cease their glare off. Mira was usually sweet and bubbly, but she could be a devil when she wanted to be. Erza was plain out scary most of the time, but she could be cute, especially when she became flustered and shy. But both females saw the other as a rival, they would get along, but they had their moments where it was like one was ready to kill the other.

Levy poked Lucy, her eyes still watching Erza and Mira, "Lu-chan, do you like Lyon?" The bluenette whispered to the blonde.

Lucy whipped her head around and shook it violently, her voice hushed and harsh, "No! I already said I don't!"

The bluenette pouted, "Come on, Lu-chan. You can tell me the truth, I can keep a secret." She blinked her hazelnut eyes at the blonde.

Lucy rolled her chocolate brown ones in response, "I already said I don't like him in that way. Lyon is only my friend, nothing more." Her voice was hushed as she spoke.

Lucy continued to eat as Erza and Mira continued glaring at each other. Why did everyone assume that Lyon and she were a couple? Even Natsu questioned her about it! It was annoying and quite frustrating in Lucy's opinion…

Thankfully, the bell rang. Lucy stood up with a harsh sigh, her head banging away as the stares of disbelief shot at her. Rolling her eyes, she turned away and walked off.

Lyon's POV

I sat patiently in the garden, on the stone bench under the weeping willow. The school's garden is actually quite extensive and quite beautiful. Well, despite the gloomy atmosphere of autumn.

My eyes gently glazed down to the orange leaves that covered the ground, October had passed, and November had sprung. My mouth opened relinquishing a sorrow filled sigh. I haven't been around Juvia in weeks, it really is starting to ram in my mind. I wonder if she even cares that we haven't hung out, or even spoken to each other?

She probably hasn't even noticed…She is with Gray most of the time anyways. Why would it bother her? She is with the person she adores most, the person whom she loves…

Hot liquid fell down my cheeks. Quickly, my hands wiped away the betraying liquid. I cursed inwardly, how could I let my emotions take so much control over me? My fist subconsciously clenched up, my breath grew shaky as my eyes shut for the moment.

"LYON!"

My head turned, my fist dropped and let my hand open. A light smile curved onto my lips, the sudden feelings of loneliness vanished. "Hey there, Lucy." I waved as I stood.

She gave me one of her famous smiles and gave a brief nod, "Hiya!" She grew closer while adjusting her backpack.

"You're late." I stated; amusement present on my face, and flowing in my tone.

She gave a shrug and a playful push before sighing contently to herself. "I suppose I am, huh?" She turned her back to me and muttered, "Sorry, I got held back by Cana." She turned her head to where I could see the side of her face, "She wanted to talk to me 'bout something."

I rolled my eyes, "Girl stuff I am assuming."

"And bingo was his name-o." she giggled to herself while turning back around.

Several leaves floated down from the trees, yellow, red, orange. Lucy held her hand out for a moment; she allowed a leaf to land in her hand. A smile graced her lips once again. "Fall is such a beautiful season…" she practically whispered, her eyes lit with joy. She looked over at me and smiled, "Don't you think?"

I shrugged, "I guess…" I looked up at the trees. The oaks, the pines, the maples, the birches, the apples, just all of them in the garden.

"Autumn is simply my favorite season of them all," she breathed as she gently let the left fall to the ground.

"Why?" I inquired. My brows rose in question as my eyes watched her movement carefully.

She looked over at my, her lips twitched a bit before finally opening to speak, "Well, to me autumn is beautiful! There are so many colors and the weather is lovely. Fall is like the perfect season, not too hot, not too cold, it's just right."

"But everything dies," I scoffed as my foot crunched a few leaves. "Fall is the end of everything, it is like death." I stared at her with the outmost confusion and aversion. "Why would you like fall so much? You look more like a summer or spring person to me."

She giggled lightly, her hand curling on her lips to smother her giggles. Lucy gave a light smile before rolling her eyes a bit. "Stereotypical much?" She then tucked a strand of her golden hair behind her ear. "So many people look at fall as a death season; they seem to think it the gloomiest of them all, that it is nothing more but an empty and sad season…" She turned her head to look up, her eyes closed. "But I think fall is like a way of saying to start over. It symbolizes change."

"C-change?!" I practically choked out. "How does it symbolize change?"

Lucy looked over at me, her chocolate eyes warm and inviting, "Well, as you said before things die, but they aren't completely dead." Her voice was soft, very caring and like a melody. "They just fade away for a bit, that's all…"

She smiled lightly as the wind blew softly causing a gentle breeze. "Everything slowly prepares for the winter. The plants simply fade for the time; all the animals huddle up and collect food for their peaceful rest. For them it is like the beginning of a new year."

Her hand carefully took mine and brought it up to touch one of the colorful leaves on an oak tree. "The leaves turn and make room for the fresh new ones soon to come. Fall is the first step of the change they wish to succeed. Fall is where you let it all go." She gently plucked the leaf from the tree and let it float carefully onto the ground, her brown eyes watching it as it drifted down.

"Autumn is where the change is planted, then when winter comes along, it is safe beneath the ground and in its shelter. It is kept from harm, that way no one tries to alter the change you want." She slowly looked into my eyes. "Finally spring walks in and your seed blossoms fully into the change you wanted. Everything comes together, but it wouldn't have started without the fall."

She smiled kindly at me and giggled, "That is why I love autumn the most."

I stared up at the trees and nodded, "I see…I understand…" I felt a sudden blooming within me, and understanding of what Lucy had taught me. I always considered her different, weird in fact, but everything she said showed me the caring and loving side of her. The reason I became her friend.

My eyes landed on the said girl as she danced around while kicking a few leaves up in the air. "Lucy-"

Her phone went off; she looked at it and gave me a look. She smiled down at her phone, "I'm sorry, Lyon. I-I have to go." Then she nodded at me and ran off.

I smiled softly as I watched her figure disappear. I stared back at the trees, "I suppose it is time for a change…" Inhaling deeply, my feet slowly crunched the leaves to dust as I walked through the garden.

Today, I shall plant my seed. I shall care and tend for it. I shall make sure it will bloom and blossom when spring comes along. I will no longer be this person who is not as outspoken as they need to be. I will not allow myself to be hurt any longer by Gray's fame. I will no longer keep my feelings hidden in the darkness and shadows I have kept them in.

Juvia will know exactly how I feel. She shall know of my love for her. No longer will I hold myself back; I shall not hurt myself any longer…best friend or not…

Lucy ran through the gardens and out one of the gates. She kept her eyes staring at the screen of her phone as she read the text message that meant the world to her at the moment over and over again. A huge grin cracked onto her lips, revealing her teeth.

I'm coming home…
