Chapter 17
Vosif chewed on his thumb nail. If Talima had been there she would have scolded him, pointing out that such a tell was unbecoming of The Emperor's Wrath, and she would have been correct. He needed to better control his physical habits.
"The equipment is in position, my lord." The com in Vosif's ear beeped.
Raising his hand to his ear he opened a channel to respond. "Good, make sure that it is synced up with my data pad." Vosif didn't think he would need these things for two simple separatists but he was also never one to shy away from overkill. That and he wanted to make sure he had a backup plan if these insurgents somehow managed to slip by his assassins.
"Have trooper team B clear the cantina area. Team A will block off any traffic in a full square block, making sure nothing gets in our way. Once everyone is out, have the trooper team B fall back to secondary positions and then send in Shadow team. If these two manage to elude Shadow team then Trooper teams are authorized to fire at will. We have to make sure they do no escape by any means necessary."
Vosif looked out over the rooftop down at the smaller building below. The place was teaming with life and it was impossible to distinguish one from the other, but as soon as it was clear he would be able to see these two as if he was actually inside.
The only information Tallnuss had told Vosif was that there were two of them and that they were staying in this Cantina. He didn't know if they were armed or what their mission was, only that they were definitely not from Dromund Kaas. And there were carrying enough money to fund a small army.
Or uprising.
That was a possibility that he could not overlook. Especially after what Sechel had told him. It was very possible this could be the first move, not only against the Empire, but the Emperor himself. Vosif was sure that their arrival being so close to the coronation of the new flag ship was no coincidence either. If something were to happen during the ceremony then it could undermined the authority of the Emperor. If Vosif did not handle this right, and they somehow survived, then the Emperor would likely kill him for his failure.
It was his job after all to find people like these two and deal with them. He only wished that he knew more about them. He never liked going into a mission without knowing as much as he could. It kept him from being surprised and it kept him in control. But if he waited it might be too late. These two needed to be taken care of now and he needed to do it quickly and quietly as possible.
It was fine for him to kill separatists on fringe worlds, but to have a major attack in Kaas City, the center of power for the whole empire, showed failure on the Emperor that he was week and unable to defend the people. If they thought that the Empire wasn't strong enough protect them then they might be more inclined to help these separatist later, or at the very least trying less to make sure that they failed.
That was why Vosif was taking no chances this night and had decided to handle this himself instead of giving orders from a distance. If for some reason things went wrong he would be there to deal with these two personally.
The building had been nearly cleared of all the inhabitance on the bottom floor. That should keep anyone from getting in the way or worse trying to help the two.
"Alright, Shadow Team, move in. I want these two alive. I need to know if they are working for someone and what their mission here is. If they die then I will slowly kill all of you."
Vosif wrapped himself in his robes, settling himself in as the constant downpour soaked into his clothes. This should be over soon. Though once he finally had the two he would probably just lock them away for the rest of the night. Make sure they didn't get any sleep and start at them once they are sleep deprived and hungry in the morning.
He always had fun braking people. The ones with ideals were always the most amusing to watch as they turned on everything they once held dear just to ease their own pain. He wondered how quickly these two would turn on each other.
