Chapter 18:: And The Fog Clears

Kurt still hadn't been able to forget Sebastian's annoying words as the week rolled on by and before he knew it, Friday came along and it was almost the end of his first full week back at his job. He cursed himself for allowing that little weasel to get into his head with those intimidating, almost threatening words and he could only hope that he could be able to fully move on from it all.

Of course, it didn't help that Sebastian's desk was practically just down the hallway and the subtle smirks, the flirtatious winks he flashed at him and his sharp wardrobe managed to constantly distract him—not to mention, how the manipulative douche was very well-built, his shoulders broad and arms tight under his work attire. No wonder some of the ladies fell for him and didn't even care that he's not into their kind. And Kurt was almost at the point where he was going to explode and give that asshole a piece of his mind. But being the reserved, calm and sensitive man he is, Kurt knew that that would only happen when he truly becomes extremely angry, impatient or agitated.

It was the image of Blaine's face, however, that made Kurt smile whenever it randomly surfaces in his mind and he felt like he needed to pinch himself to make sure all this was real—their soulmate-like friendship, their blossoming relationship, staying at his penthouse unofficially, slowly breaking many of each other's walls and just being intimate and close. Kurt sighed when he thinks about those adorable Doritos-shaped eyebrows of his, his luscious, curly brown locks, his intoxicating smile, his contagious laugh, his cute dimples, his devilishly attractive stubble, the hint of chest hair that made him take a deep breath, his tan skin, his surprisingly still-tight-built body...and most of all, his gorgeous ocean-blue eyes that once harboured hazel.

He truly believed that Blaine had changed for the better for he let him in, he took the risk to start a relationship with him, how he's slowly rebuilding his confidence...

Sebastian's wrong. Blaine's changed. And the reason he's a better man now is because of you.

"It's 7.30, Kurt. Let's get outta here," Lauren Zizes remarked tiredly, looming over her friend's desk, she then smirked. "And you did tell me this morning that your man has something planned for you tonight..."The plump woman and him go way back to the day Kurt started working here. She'd been the one to show him around, introduce him to the staff, help him during the confusion of his first few days...they grew to become close allies at work and both happily share their immense dislike of the serpent that is Sebastian Smythe. That name alone should ring an alarm already.

"Fine, Zizes, let's all go home." He huffs, shutting down his iMac and gathering his new messenger bag, smiling faintly as it was Blaine's gift to him. He was grateful that Lauren was one of the few people to not mind his relationship with the blind chap, let alone of the rare ones who actually support it all and that's all Kurt needs. An ally and close friend at work.

"See you on Monday, Hummel." The dark, teasing tone of Sebastian's voice threw them off as they turned around, noting how he too was packing up after a long hard day.

"Oh, you will and perhaps I'll bring along a couple of fists then too to greet that stupid smirk of yours," Lauren calls out before turning to grab Kurt's arm and catch the elevator, both hearing the man mockingly laugh. The last thing they need is to have that man with them as they descend to the ground.

Thanking her for defending him, she only shrugs with a smile and once they;re at ground level, both gasp when they see the signature Lincoln Towncar temporarily parked right in front of the building, Lauren almost dropping her iPhone in shock.

Blaine was standing outside of the Towncar, looking dapper with his dark blue blazer, a grey wool scarf, slim matching jeans and a pair of loafers. Santana, on the other hand, stood a few inches away from him, cautious that the Manhattan human traffic would pull the blind man away.

"He's picking you up in his fancy car?!" Lauren exclaimed. "And it's being chauffeured by that woman? Kurt, when did you become rich?"

Kurt knew he shouldn't be shocked to see Blaine and Santana waiting for him with their Towncar these days but ever since starting work again, Kurt had insisted on taking the subway as he guiltily didn't want to make both come down to pick him up on a daily basis. Hence, he was slightly stunned that Blaine was there, waiting patiently and looking dashing as ever.

Eventually, Kurt shooed Lauren off, she half-joked how jealous she was and Kurt slowly walks up to Blaine, Santana trekking over to the driver's seat inside to give them some privacy.

Immediately, he feels a pang of guilt in his heart, having not told Blaine about Sebastian and many of his co-workers still giving him weird, judgmental looks for dating the monster Blaine apparently as back then. But he kept his lips sealed, he didn't want to ruin what they have. Not when Blaine was slowly tearing down his iron walls and building his confidence again.

"Hi," Kurt breathes, blinded by his boyfriend's emerging smile, taking his hands when he gets close. "I told you that I prefer using—"

"—the subway, I know. But it's your first full week back at work so I figured I might as well drop by and surprise you, baby." Blaine softly counters, breath hitching as Kurt's fingers interlock with his, god the little things Kurt does never cease to take his breath away. They both ignored that they were in public now and soon, Kurt helps Blaine in, the gentle screech of leather welcoming them as they climb in, immediately shuffling closer.

"I've missed you," the blind novelist whispers, face just inches from him.

"I come home to you every night and stay over, Blaine." Kurt tilts his head, smiling when Blaine leans into his touch, his ever-growing stubble tickling his fingers. "So what's going on tonight? You apparently planned out something for me?"

"It's nothing huge but I just wanted to do something special," his lover replied, hands squeezing roughly when the Towncar began moving.

"Guessing you're not even gonna give me a hint—"

"Nope," he smirked.

Knowing that Blaine was affluent and being able to stay at his gorgeous penthouse for now were just two things Kurt still has trouble adjusting to. And whenever Blaine says he's got a surprise for him, Kurt expects him to bring them both into a five-star/lavish restaurant downtown or buy expensive things Kurt never thought he could even touch. And he feels guilty because he also still isn't used to someone treating him so well but he 100% knows that he isn't into Blaine because of his money. Unlike that Jeremy asshole...

Which was why Kurt was bewildered when they arrived back at the penthouse instead, already wondering what on earth Blaine had in mind. Oh, we're definitely getting it on tonight, I bet that's one of his "surprises" too!

"Blaine?" He frowns when Santana helps lead them back inside the penthouse from the elevator. "What's going on—"

"Santana's picking up the pizza she'd just made from the kitchen," he softly cuts in, a cheeky smile now. "Do you have a movie preference?"

Frowning again in confusion, Kurt's eyes suddenly fall upon a luxurious-looking bottle of wine nestled comfortably in a bucket of ice along with two empty glasses in the living room. Wine? Pizza? A movie night? Looks like some massive cuddling's in order here.

"Your surprise is having our very first official movie night together, huh?" Kurt finally deduces Blaine's scheme all along, greeted by a silent, agreeing nod from his lover. "As much as I love to, don't you think it's a bit...awkward that you wouldn't be able to see the movie?"

"Hey, what matters is that you're here with me." Blaine murmurs lowly, he felt-reached out to feel for Kurt's cheek and courtesy of his hypersensitive fingertips, he's enthralled by his smooth, stubble-free skin, wishing so desperately he could admire his eyes now. Kurt's posture softened, eyes now half-open as he stares at the blue globes that are Blaine's eyes, searching and loving how close and intimate they've become now. It had taken them a long time to get to where they are today.

"It's weird how as a couple, we haven't watched a movie together...until today though." Kurt remarks, getting lost in Blaine's touch as the man rested his forehead against his, feeling his breathing ghost against his face. "We've always been different from everyone else."

"But that makes us special," he whispered, both feeling the raging urge to start a makeout session then and there. "Gods, you're...you're everything to me, Kurt."

Kurt gulps, secretly snorting in his mind at how Blaine always was the cheesy one but also realizing that this...this moment they're sharing now...this relationship they're in right now...it's real. And it's not a lie. Blaine truly has changed for the better and although he still has some walls built up, Kurt was knocking them down slowly, gradually gaining access to the vulnerable, hurt man that hid behind them all these months.

Sebastian's wrong. Blaine isn't the monster he was back then. And while Sebastian did make a point that he still doesn't yet know the true reason why Blaine had become so cold and judgmental then but right now, he doesn't care. Blaine's different now. Blaine's trying to let go of the darkness. Blaine was his...

He kisses him, throwing caution to the wind as he crashed his lips against the blind author's, Blaine briefly gasping in surprise before reciprocating with a grateful smile. The liplock grew sloppy, their tongues fighting for dominance while Kurt almost faints when Blaine lets out a low, husky groan. He placed his hand on the back of Blaine's head, loving how his stubble scratched at his skin, not letting go and moaning when he felt Blaine's hands run passionately through his hair and tugging hard. As their bodies flushed together, the distant flame of arousal emerged but they ignored the throbbing need for oxygen as their heads tilted in unison.

The sounds of Santana's pumps drew them apart and they chuckle lightly as Santana mmm-hmmms as she lays the reheated mozzarella pizza on the living room's coffee table before retiring to her room, muttering how she doesn't want hear any more loud moans as she'd be Skyping Brittany next door.

Thirty minutes into the movie, they'd finally agreed on Crazy Stupid Love because Ryan Gosling...need they say more? Kurt found it incredibly endearing that Blaine joined him in curling up together, both barely paying attention as they also ate, the author constantly insisting that it was okay to have pizza despite how lush the cushions and the Persian rug on the floor are.

"This is nice," Kurt quietly announced, twirling a finger over Blaine's curls, the man clearly enjoying it.

"What is?"

"Being together here, watching a movie, eating pizza with wine on a Friday night...just the two of us," he explained. "Just wish we can just stay here forever—"

"Well, we both do need to get out and make money." He giggled, downing some wine. They fall into a comfortable episode of silence again, shuffling closer when Kurt draws a blanket over his boyfriend and Blaine is suddenly struck with the realization that his eye examination's in two days. He really wanted Kurt to know—hell, even Santana, I need a ride there—but his wish to keep it a surprise outweighed that. However, his guilt greatly factored in as well and he'd been struggling with telling Kurt the entire week. Tonight seemed like the perfect time to tell him though—

"Hey, Kurt." The blind novelist broke the silence, his voice shaky and nervous. He heard Kurt turn towards him. "I-I have...something I've been meaning to talk to you about..."

"What is it?" God, the way his voice sounded so heavenly yet so endearing and curious at the same time.

There's a chance Blaine could finally see Kurt for the first time. He felt like it would be a fresh new start in their growing relationship and they can truly embrace each other without one being in darkness anymore. He can truly become the man Kurt deserves after all the crap they've both each been through in the past.

And yet, Blaine hesitated. He still wanted to keep it a surprise until maybe tomorrow. Or even Sunday itself. He was so torn.

"I know that you're practically staying here already...but I wanna make it official. Kurt Hummel, will...will you officially move in with me?" He asked instead, looking nervous yet hopeful. He can't help but automatically feel semi-dejected that he chickened out but in his defence, wanting Kurt permanently in his home was his next ultimate wish. The sharp gasp from his lover immediately afterwards only made him wonder how Kurt would really react when he would tell him about his eye exam next time.

Kurt was lost in a mental hurricane as he tries to make sense of Blaine's request. He stares at him, reading how serious he truly was yet noting how afraid and anxious that he could be rejected. Blaine'ss letting me in. He wants me here officially. He still goes giddy at that thought: He wants me.

"Are you serious?" He pursed his lips, watching in astonishment when Blaine nodded, losing his ability to speak when his lover's hands cupped his cheeks then.

"I do. I want this. I want you," he licks his own lips, feeling his throat dry as he confessed before self-consciously facing down at the ground. "But only if you want to, don't feel pressured and I know it's a humungous thing to ask on the spot but I love you, Night Sky—"

That sealed the deal. Blaine always used the pet name to draw him in. "Yes," he breathed, the soft reply symbolizing such a huge milestone. "I'll move in with you. I want to wake up next to you and cuddle every morning, to have and even make breakfast for you, help Santana with caring for this place, to always...to always be there for you when you want and need me. I want all of that—"

"Night Sky," Blaine interrupted his monologue, drawing him in for a bear-tight hug. "That sounds perfect. God, I love you so much. I want all that too."

As they pull back with a sweet kiss, Kurt then noticed how Blaine's Tommy Hilfiger shirt has plunged down just a fraction, exposing a faint hint of his dark chest hair on his slightly defined chest. And he becomes dizzy with want and desire, the movie-pizza-wine date all forgotten when Blaine's hand's on the back of his head, the other caressing his cheek, well-aware that Kurt was falling into the depths of arousal. The sofa squeaked a little when Kurt initiates an intoxicating kiss, leading to a heated, moan-filled makeout session.

And Blaine's mop of curls feels marvellous being ransacked by Kurt's persisting fingers.

Sunday had finally arrived and Blaine guiltily lied to Kurt and Santana that he was simply going for his first semi-annual innocent eye doctor check up and so, Kurt chose to hang out with Rachel and the gang instead when Blaine selflessly told him to get out and enjoy the city.

The Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital was where Blaine had been personally transferred to from the hospital where his pals Nick and Jeff work at nine months ago after the accident and heart-tugging memories made the blind man wince since this was the place the doctors officially confirmed that he had lost his eyesight. Blaine remembered that his doctor here was Dr. Marley Rose who'd broken the unfortunate news to him that fateful day and she had told him afterwards that surgery can be done to possibly restore most of his sight back but the author profusely refused, believing that he deserved it all. The pain, the hurt, the loss, everything.

A cane-accompanying Blaine sat in the waiting room, waiting for the receptionist to call his name while Santana's cross-legged beside him and rummaging through People Magazine. She'd believed Blaine's lie and she blindly drove him here with absolutely no idea of what Blaine's true intentions were.

He froze when the receptionist called out his name. Santana then helped lead him to the doctor's office, telling him that she would be just waiting outside since they were told that only Blaine was allowed in.

"Behave in there, hobbit." She patted his back, the man chuckling. "But seriously, the last time you were here..." She paused. "I'll be out here if you need me, okay?"

Nodding, he suddenly felt a rush of gratitude for Santana's constant support. He never thought that the snarky, sometimes cold-spirited woman had a softer side when they'd first met and she was the one who sacrificed a lot just to take care of him by herself after the accident.

"It's been a long time, Blaine." Dr. Marley Rose beamed when she saw the man enter the examination room, smile crumbling a little as she remembered how devastated he was the last time he was here. And him utterly rejecting her offer for surgery made her feel like she wasn't able to truly help the chap. "Have a seat."

The man nervously fixed his wool sweater, heeding her request. "Thanks, Dr. Rose."

She noticed his nervous expression, "I know that the last time you were here, it was a very dark time. But I don't want to give you false hope here. There still is a possibility you won't be able to regain most of your sight—"

"Well, it's still worth a shot." He declared with a small smile.

Eventually, Blaine had his blood and urine taken and underwent a number of tests on his eyes. As his vision was pitch black as ever, Blaine could only fidget worriedly when he heard her take a seat before him, the shuffling of paper and heels only heard.

"According to the test results, you've completely recovered ever since...with the exception of your sight. Speaking of which," she cleared her throat. "you said that the reason you're here is to find out if you're able to regain it."

He grew numb. Oh god...

"Before I tell you the results, the one thing I've been wondering this whole time is...why now? Why do you want to go ahead with the possibility of seeing again when I'd offered you that same chance eight months ago? What changed your mind?"

Night Sky.

"Someone came into my life," he began, blushing a little. "That person made me come out of my shell, made me re-evaluate my perspective on life and helped make me try to change. I-I'm not proud of the man I was before I lost my sight...but now I feel like I can have a second chance."

"That's great," she breathed. "I'm so glad you found someone cuz we all need someone to fall back on. So, you ready to hear your results?"

This is for us, Kurt.

He could only nod in suspense.

A/N: Sorry to torture you again but Blaine's results are finally revealed next and Kurt and Santana's reactions:O And their relationship's tested as they confess their secrets too. Hint: a future chapter's named "Hazel" ;) *evil laugh* Please let me know what you think! Update coming up!
