"They were lies!"

"Fooling us all this time! Disgusting street rat!"

Kagome looked down at her bruised arms, looking over the scraped up skin and injuries incurred by the people of Suna.

"You think we're fools!?"

"It had nothing to do with them being fools, though I won't argue the claim. It took them how many years before they noticed?" She sighed. Recounting all of what happened only a few hours ago...she hated this village. She hated the people who lived within it even more.

"You will leave now,"

Her ears took in the cold voice. This voice belonged to the Kazekage, who...while he chose not to kill her...was banishing her from his village.

Despite how much time had passed, no one had ever given her the time of day, to be Kagome. No one trusted her, only Mai and Koimei...and that was never good enough for her. She hated that there was nothing for her in this village. In all the time she'd been there, Kagome had grown stronger, and lonelier. Six years she'd lived in relative peace and quiet with the personas of Mai and Koimei. Yet as she thought over the last few days which had led her to this gate, she felt herself not caring for her departure. The lies she would be leaving behind, they were not her, nor who she wished to be known as. She was Kagome. Her parents were both dead. The child Koimei and her mother Mai...were merely puppets created to help her survive. Though while she was definitely surviving, she was far from living...she just hadn't died yet.

"Snake...just like a snake! SHE'S POISON!"

It was sad that she was leaving...but...not for the reasons one might be sad for. She turned her eyes to three kids who stood beside the Kazekage, and her eyes lingered on only one. She had done well, keeping hidden away from Gaara. The boy who'd preserved her secret for far longer than she'd thought he would, never telling anyone, in fact. Hiding away, she had done so not out of fear, but to keep him out of trouble. She only brought trouble, which was made obvious when a store keeper came back late to get something that he'd forgotten, and found her returning back to her own body...causing absolute mayhem in the village and among the villagers. She had so desperately wished to keep him safe from the daily trials that came her way. It wasn't much of a surprise, she guessed, when in her attempt to run away, she'd managed to run into Gaara and that had caused even more trouble. He had freaked out, and a villager throwing a kunai at her had slipped up his aim, and the kunai had made its way in Gaara's direction. Could he have stopped the kunai? Yeah, probably...but, she still tried to keep him from getting hurt by the villagers. Her body moved without her say so, and she'd been caught and beaten upon the discovery of who she was, and who she was protecting. With her lies revealed to the Kazekage…he had personally paid her a visit. Now...she was being personally escorted out of the village.

"Father, why does she need to leave?"

Kagome glanced over to Temari, who had a sad look on her face, similar to that of Gaara. Kankuro who'd she'd never met, was the only one confused about who she was. Temari knew her only through Mai, and Gaara...? Gaara had simply known her, or at least...her secret.

"She's a danger," Rasa said, through a cold glare, he motioned to the gate with his eyes.

'I'm a danger?' She smiled, 'how? How can a child be a danger?' She growled out her irritation, not noticing the glow of purple that seemed to grace her fingertips.

"..." Gaara's sand swirled at the increase of Chakra pooling at her fingers, catching her eyes as he did. He watched her temper ebb at the show of his own ability, and a sad smile touched her lips as she bowed before turning away from the family and leaving. As simple as that...she was gone.

(A YEAR LATER)

Shadows crawled over the desert floor, dancing with the swirls of sand picked up by the wind. A lithe figure stood atop an alcove in the desert, a heavy cloak hooded the young figures face. The sun had long since vanished over the horizon, leaving the darkness to keep the figure company.

"This land, forged by struggles and fear...you alone are my sanctuary...you alone shield me in my sorrow. Where I weep, your dry heat shall cease my tears...and should I bleed, this harsh terrain will guide my enemies to hell...and should it not...I will." A single spot on the sand could be seen where a lone tear had fallen to the desolate desert floor. "...Suna...you will fall, or Gaara will raise you above the damned village that you are...for now...I will only watch."

Me: Here is chapter two of Desert Rose, tell me what you think! Also, I don't have my laptop, I'm on my mom's, so I'm limited on what I can update, and write. I'll do what I can though. I have one story specifically that I've written four chapters four, but my timeline and information specifically for that story is on my laptops hard drive, and until the laptop is fixed, I don't want to post it, I want to have it mostly, if not completely done before I start posting it. However, I will let you know it's a NARUTO fic, non-crossover fic. Just Naruto, mostly Sakura Centric. I'll give you more information later, for the time being, tell me what you think of this chapter, and I'll update more soon.
