Chapter 6: The Spider King?
~Yugi's 3rd POV~
Yugi roamed around the many corridors of the house with many creaks under his feet and many cobwebs to greet him. He was surprise by all the dust everywhere as he began to wonder how long this grand manor had been vacant. But, just by looking at the old pictures covered in dust, thick enough to make him a sweater, he decided that it had been a very long time.
His hands grazed the walls as he walked through the dark halls of the house, his trusty flashlight in hand. He couldn't help but notice how rich the design of the house was. The trim of the walls crested with a gold like molding at its entire perimeter, the painting in the same golden like frames hung abashedly on the walls, their eyes following him as he kept up his walk gave him the impression a wealthy family had lived here once. But, he didn't have time to stop and investigate; lost time would affect him greatly since he still had to go to work. Yugi sighed. He'd much rather talk to the rat down stairs than travel along the house. It scared him, and he could clearly tell there was an ominous story behind it all.
As he walked along the wall, the light from his flashlight bobbing in front of him with his steps, he took short and curious glances at the priceless vases that sat upon the skinny tables that lounged all down the hall; dead flowers hanging leisurely on the sides of each one. Petals of deceased stems were scattered about the floor, crunching rather loudly under Yugi's feet as if they'd been there forever with no decomposers to break them down.
This didn't surprise Yugi though. He'd stumbled upon two guest rooms and they'd looked just as old and rotted as the dainty flowers that would turn to ash in his hand if he dared to touch it. The simple pieces of furniture that had been left behind had gathered so much dust that it formed four perfect layers on the mattress, creating a new blanket. And even though he could see the beginnings of a large hole in the middle of the floor, there was a desk on the other side. It was pure mahogany and its top was covered with bits and pieces of paper; the desk lamp fully intact except for the broken bulb. Valuing his life, he quickly back out and shut the door. Something about that room had been eerie, haunting, and frankly terrified him to the tip of his fabric wings. The next room had been slightly similar, but lacked the ominous feeling and the query sight of an office area.
Yugi suspected that all of the doors down this particular hallway guest rooms; although they were all very big, and he could probably fit at least three of his own bedroom in each of them with no resistance. Nonetheless, he stopped looking in these rooms promptly upon this discovery and was now looking for the master bedroom.
If what Akefia had told him was correct, and the Master of the hose was in fact the spider king, he might be able to contact his spirit through his bedroom; hopefully. He didn't want to waste his time away in an old house that was slowly rotting from the inside out, even if it looked pretty cool. Every second he was in the Manor was just another second he was lucky he hadn't died yet. The sooner he figured out whether the ghost was really in need of help or not, the sooner he could go to work for the last day that he had to so that he could get on with his life.
Yugi sighed as he finally reached the end of the hall and turned the corner, more doors being presented to him and making his objective more difficult. He checked inside one of the doors quickly to see if anything had changed about it, but he quickly shut it as it opened up to the same plain guestroom as before. This was going to take a while…
A few more minutes later, with glowing relief, Yugi finally stumbled upon a more diverse door that stood out from all the rest. The woodwork seemed to be painted with pure gold, the paint chipping slightly but only from old age. There was a rather large crack in the middle of the door as well, but as Yugi looked through the obscurity, he couldn't see through to the other side. Either the crack wasn't that deep or the door was very thick.
Just before the lid of his eyes, a glint of yellow flickered above him. He wanted to pass it off as his flashlight, but the white bulb and the flicker in the back of his mind told him that wasn't the case. He glanced up quickly to investigate and his eyes widened slightly in wonder as they laid upon the golden doorknocker at the very top of the door. The eye of Horus looked down at him aggressively, its gold iris judging his worthiness and daring him to hold its gaze.
Taking on the challenge Yugi reached up to touch it, finding it hard to believe it was still sitting there after all this time. Not even the surface of the rare gem in the middle to act as a pupil looked like it had even been gratified with the lightest of fingerprints. A slight pout captured his features as he realized he was too small to reach it. The door was about seven feet tall and the doorknocker hung just an inch below that; he was unfortunately three feet and two inches too short. As he looked down in minor disappointment, he also noticed there was no handle or knob for the door either; not even a circular hole was present to show its absents.
How odd…
Yugi's teeth gnawed lightly at his bottom lip as his curiosity drummed small ideas on the back of his head. A steady beat that matched with his heart; getting faster with the desire behind his curiosity pushing it right to his front brain.
How could he open the door? How had the previous overs opened it? What was behind the door that lead to having a doorknocker but no doorknob? Did it open by pushing it or in some weird sci-fi scan your eye way, or was it just as simple as the knob being one sided so that only the person inside could open it? Was this the spider kings room? Had he had a fascination with the Egyptian culture in his previous life? Was he Egyptian himself? Did he even exist?
So many unanswered questions stirred Yugi's interest to the peek; and a part of him knew these questions would haunt him if he didn't find out. His amethyst eyes looked both way down the long hall, checking for any sign of life before his eyes shot back to the door; and feeling worse than the kid with his hand in the cookie jar he slowly lifted his hand to push against the door.
To his relief, and slight disappointment, the door didn't budge.
A grateful sigh escaped Yugi's lips and he backed away from the door. Fear was what kept him from continuing, for the menacing aura around the door telling him not to seeped into his bones and made his form rattle. Hopefully, the spirit wasn't in there because he'd never be able to open that door. If he had a 'stay your butt away from this meter this door would be off the charts and he'd have to go buy another one after running home to cry to his grandpa.
Yet, he still stood there, glancing up at the door, his lip in constant abuse from his teeth. Besides the master bedroom, Yugi didn't know where the ghost might be, and he still had to go to work soon.
He tapped his foot on the ground lightly, his eyes still on the door. 'Think Yugi, what would the ghost hunters do to contact ghosts?' Yugi nearly slapped himself at the stupid question. The ghost hunters would just try speaking to the ghosts and they'd get some kind of reaction. He was sure most of that stuff on TV was a hoax but it was worth a shot. Not wanting to seem like the blonde girl in the movie who says 'Hello, is someone there?' he hesitated slightly to think of a conversation starter; not that he was expecting the ghost to talk back, but, he didn't want to sound rude and get attacked.
"Um…Mr…Spider King, sir, I've come here in hopes that maybe you'd want some company, or a friend…i-if you need one that is I didn't mean to say that you have no friends! I just…uh-uhg," Yugi slump forward and sulk. "Great job Yugi, you just managed to mess up talking to someone you can't even see. You deserve a metal." I scolded himself sarcastically, his eyes rolling at his own stupidity.
After two whole minutes of sulking he sighed and pulled his phone out from the front pocket of his skirt, which he'd made himself, and dial Akefia's number to call in for work; he knew he wouldn't make it and it'd be pointless for him to make Akefia wait to blow his top.
The abandoned manner wouldn't be left abandoned until he net the spider king.
~Yami's 3rd POV~
The smile that grazed the teen's lips was small but meaningful. The boy- no, Yugi, had called him out as The Spider King; a name of which he was not familiar. Was that what they were calling him now a days? Yami snorted softly under his breath. Stupid humans, where did they come up with such names? Yami could understand the spider part but where did they get off with the fact that he was a king? If he remembered correctly, kings were at least sixteen and older; he's thirteen for Ra's sake!
But, coming from Yugi's mouth, it sounded more formal and restrained; more a sign of respect than anything. Warmth grew in his heart at just thinking about it and it made him want to speak with the boy all the more. In all the years that he'd been trapped here in solitude, he'd never wanted to bother with interacting with the humans unless it was to warn them to leave before he killed them. But, now that there was someone here who intrigued him with his every move and offering to keep him company, he thought back on all his years hear alone and found them filled with loneliness and self-loathing. Something in the boy was bringing something out of him that he hadn't been able to feel in a long time, and this feeling only brushed pat happiness and straight into another; he could taste the word for it on the tip of his tongue, but it still evaded him.
As he realized he'd probably never get to talk to the boy face to face though, the answer slipped right from his grasp like the keys to the prison cell he'd formed around himself. He shook his head sadly, his good mood shattered. If he tried to talk to Yugi, the boy might know his name; then he'd have to kill him. If he used a fake name, he'd be too attached and when the boy when he tried to leave he'd probably kill him. In the case that he just stayed out of sight, watching the boy, praying for what could never be, he'd kill him.
He sighed lightly hoping the boy didn't hear him and closed his eyes. If he could just leave the boy alone and retreat back to his room, he wouldn't have to die. Yami didn't want to kill him; for once he wanted someone to live on from this house and lead a normal life, a longer life than what he'd been given.
Glowing crimson eyes flickered back to the boy, now on his cellular device, talking through it timidly while someone on the other end shouted at him loudly through the speaker; noticeably hurting Yugi's ear as he pulled the device farther from his ear and winced. Obviously the person on the other end was displeased with him, but why? He closed his eyes to heighten his senses and stealthily eavesdropped on the particularly one sided conversation and kept absolutely still.
"…don't even have the decorations done, and you just suddenly aren't coming to work!? We have one hour before this place opens, Yugi! One hour!" The gruff English speaking man yelled loudly through the cell phone, frustration and anger slamming threateningly into Yugi's ear and threatening to destroy his eardrums. With slight flicker of annoyance, Yami realized that special hearing abilities was a gift and a curse; yet still, he carried on listening.
Yugi sighed submissively when the chance to defend himself licked at his ears with the other human participant's silence. " I-I know…I didn't mean to cut it so close, but…something just came up…" Yugi tried his little lie softly, more silence following to see if he was believable or not. Silence. After the long shout party that the other person on the line had started himself the silence made even the spirit give an uneasy bite of his lip. Yugi seemed to be in much the same state. His bottom lip succumbing to the torment of his top teeth, his weight shifting from leg to leg as he waited and his eyes flickering down the hall as the eerie quiet began to make him anxious and more alert. Yami could vaguely hear the sound of a wolf howling in the distance with its morbidly excited tone filling the deafening silence. This pleased the spirit immensely as the silence had only bored him, but the boy below seem to be pushed towards the edge of anxiety upon hearing the long call in the distance; human ears were rather dull so the sound must of sounded more unnerving and spookier than what it truly sounded like.
At that moment a heavy sigh came from the speaker of the phone and Yugi snapped his head back to the sound. "You're in Spider King Manor aren't you." It was more a statement than a question, which made Yami raise an elegant eyebrow in query thought. Was that what they called his home now, Spider King Manor? What was with them and calling him a king? Where humans really that caught up in their assumptions that he was anywhere near that position. Sure, he was human once, but had he really been that stupid!?
Yami's eyes blinked slowly as he tried to recall past events with the supernatural, but not being able to find a hint that he'd even been alive one he just settle for a 'probably' and focused on the boy once more. "…h-how did you know?" His bell-like voice chimed in shock and slight fear.
"I know damn well that if you were at home there would be no wolves for miles." Yugi pouted like a puppy left out in the rain, which although thoroughly impossible, made Yami want to glomp and hug the life out of the young boy. But, of course, that would blow his cover and again he'd have to kill Yugi. His lip jutted out in a slight pout as he pondered just going upstairs to wait for the boy to leave; maybe then he could get a decent meal instead of sneaking a rat while the boy's back was turned.
Or you could just eat him.
Damn it, his stomach growled at the very thought of the sweet taste of Yugi on his tongue, but he held himself back, growling inwardly at the taunting voice in his mind. He knew he was getting hungry whenever he heard that damn thing talking to him; and he also knew when the hunger came it got what it wanted. Rats were never enough, and the taste was just repulsive. If he had to call humans a real 'home made' meal, he hadn't had one in a very long time.
Humans had recently gotten smarter about where they traveled; most of them anyway. And people that did wander into his home had blood tainted with greed and stupidity, two things that disagreed with Yami's stomach a considerably distasteful amount. Now of course, his stomach was angered by his want to let the purest of all the humans that had stepped foot in this house to walk out without so much a scratch or even the faint hint of his fangs having ever been in his throat. Yami chuckled slightly at this, but only under his breath. He sounded like a hungry vampire waiting for a pretty girl to walk into an alley. Not to say that Yugi looked too much like a girl but-
"Yugi, you have to get out of there now, you'll regret it if you don't." This one sentence caught Yami's attention and his eye sharpened as he abandoned all of his childish humor for a nearly demonic rage. If he were alive the veins in his forehead surely would have been pulsating as he thought of many ways to destroy that phone in the few seconds it took him to zero in on the device in total detestation.
Innocent violet eyes widening specifically at the word regret; but he quickly snapped out of it with a shake of his head. "But Bakura, I've been here for two hours already and haven't found anything-"
"That's exactly why you get the fuck out now before something finds you." The british voice whispered venomously into the boy's ear making the boy's posture visibly stiffen. A smirk came full circle on Yami's face as he took in the fear that emanated off the human in waves. Apparently someone had forgotten that they were looking for a ghost, one that could possibly kill him in cold blood.
"O-Ok…can you come pick me up than? P-please, Bakura?" Yugi's voice cracked as the panic sunk deep into his windpipe.
"How did you get there?"
"I rode my bike here, but it's gotten really dark so…just…please?" The spirit held back a coo at how soft and piteous Yugi's voice had become; like an angel begging for mercy against an evil foe. However he couldn't stop the lick that stole across his lips at the sound. He did say he wasn't into guys right? Well this boy's purity was calling him out on a lie.
A long sigh from the other end of the phone brought him back down to earth as the other person agreed to pick him up. "…as long as you haven't tampered with your flashlight to attract the ghost then you should be safe until I get there." The seemingly moving voice said to Yugi quickly as he heard a slam on the other side of the phone. An engine roared to life on the other end and they both heard shuffling.
Yugi gasped slightly but then let out a sigh of relief as he smiled. "I actually forgot all about that part, thank goodness. I'll wait for you outside; just make sure you don't run me over."
"Well you are a shrimp; I wouldn't be surprised if I didn't see you and tossed it aside as hitting a spikey haired rat and sat there waiting for you all night." The voice, now known as Bakura snickered.
Yugi widened his yes, flabbergasted and his eyebrows went up to his hair line. "That is not funny!" He squeaked, pouting at the unjust joking around. Yami smirked.
Cute...
"Yeah, sure it isn't. I'll be there in a few minutes, make sure your out of that house ASAP; no if, ands, or buts about it. I don't wanna hear you got mauled by a bear either, you better have your ass out of there." He said in all the seriousness he could muster without sarcasm; a failure on his part.
The short little butterfly boy rolled his amethyst eyes and began walking away from the door and back the way he'd come; Yami immediately beginning to crawl on the ceiling after him. His ten legs, (including human legs) trying to make as little noise as possible on the flat surface as he followed slowly behind. But his arachnid legs' movement made him sound like he had arthritis so he tried his best to cut his succession time in half, giving him a far enough distance that he could see the back of Yugi's head clearly but the boy couldn't hear him coming. Good news, he could still hear the boy's conversation, bad news, what he heard made him nearly fall down with laughter.
"So, since I'm driving-"
"Which you aren't supposed to be doing with a phone in your hand," Yugi pointed out bluntly, turning the corner to the next hall way.
The British accent halted at this but then let out a breathy laugh and ignored it. "What is your costume anyway?"
"Come and find out." Yugi replied sassily, all of his fear diminishing significantly into thin air.
"How catty, must be a feline."
"Nah, I didn't want to steal your thunder."
"Oh, hearty ha ha. Not funny. Seriously, what are you?"
"What are you?"
"I asked first."
Yugi clucked his teeth a bit. "Ok, fair enough. Morbid Butterfly. Now you tell me what you are, and don't you dare say a kitty cat, I know you wouldn't let Malik or Atem have the satisfaction of call you a kitty all night."
"Smart boy, Akefia decided we'd match costumes this year, I'm a cop, and he's a criminal."
"I have a feeling he wants to get arrested this time."
Yami could hear the smirk in the others voice. "All part of the plan, Shrimp. When he gets arrested he won't be leaving this prison."
"You pervert," Yugi sighed getting to the last hall way turning on his heal to sashay down the run way like royal blue carpet; knowing the stairs to the main floor were just beyond it. "Look, I'll see you in a minute, I just have to pack everything back up and I'll be right outside."
"Alright. Remember not to give me that bullshit about being mauled by a bear when you come out late."
"I'm not going to come out late!" Yugi exasperated, stopping in his tracks to yell into the phone.
"Ow! Still driving you know! Do you want me to crash into a tree?"
"Do you want me to answer that question?"
"Watch it." Bakura warned with a low growl that only got Yugi to giggle in triumph.
"Later, Bakura."
"Yeah, whatever." A faint beep resounded before Yugi promptly pulled the phone away from his ear and jostled it back in his pocket with a sigh.
For the first time, Yami took note of Yugi's flashlight, guiding him along the abandoned halls of the manor, and looked it over; thinking more on what Bakura had said. Why would a human think that flicking a light on and off would even make a ghost flinch? It wasn't like it was kryptonite. He decided to write it off as impulsive human instinct and set his eyes back on Yugi; momentarily wanting to leave before he did something he'd come to regret. But, one quick whiff at the air faltered his common sense and he followed Yugi on like a starving man following a baker's dozen of donuts and chanced a pickup of his speed; making the gap between them waver slightly as Yugi turned the corner where the stairs were.
But then, his little butterfly stopped in his tracks to let out a sharp gasp that halted Yami's pursuit. A foul stomach curdling scent filled the air and made Yami clamp his nose and bare his fangs; blood, fear, rage, and hunger feasted themselves upon him when he saw what lay in their path. Fur, abundant and matted into earthy spikes, eyes blacker than the leather clad sky, and teeth, bared and sharp; ready to strike at the first sign of weakness.
Well, Bakura never said anything about not getting mauled by a wolf.
~Yugi's 3rd POV~
Holy. Shit.
A wolf, about twice as big as himself, was standing approximately a hundred yards away; its stance nowhere near defensive and more offensive than he could run from. If he hadn't been scared before, he was pissing his pants now.
An escape route was trying to form in his head and his options were being weighed carefully. It's not that he was mighty afraid of wolves, he'd actually grown up taking care of one at the animal shelter, but this one looked dead set on tearing him limb from limb until he was nothing but a pile of bones; maybe not even that.
By the look of things, his only way out of this was to either jump over to railing to the first floor, which was about a ten foot drop, grab his stuff and make a mad dash for the door, or jump out of the window onto the dirt, leaving his stuff hear and possibly croaking on impact either way. Adding the mutt into the equation, if he made any sudden movements it'd lunge at him, tackle him to the ground, and maul him for all it was worth. If he didn't get the hell out of there he'd be a butterfly tiramisu; and it wouldn't take long for his body to be unrecognizable even to his grandpa.
He was going to die. Damn it Bakura, why didn't you just say 'don't get mauled' period! He thought begrudgingly of his ironic conversation with the albino. In reality he just wanted to pretend this wasn't happening, that he wasn't in the house, and that Bakura was already taking him to the club. But the sound of the beast before him growling and snapping at him wasn't making his wishes come true anywhere near fast. In reality, he'd never see that club again.
In fear, or at the heartbreaking realization, his footing adjusted back, probably giving the creature foresight that he'd run. It growled threateningly, its stance sinking lower and the rumble in its throat making saliva flow freely across its exposed teeth. The teen gasped in horror when the wolf seized that moment to attack, its claws seeming to aim straight for Yugi's chest so that the demon's muzzle would rest at his face, mauling every aspect of his expression before going to a different part of his body. And Yugi could do nothing but scream out his demise as the wolf came closer and closer to his figure spelling out his doom.
It was only when he heard a loud whimper from the beast that he realized he'd closed his eyes and braced for impact. None came, only the sound of soft murmuring and deep whines of disappointment from what sounded like a dog-like animal. Amethyst fluttered open in bewilderment, taking down his arm shield to look for the noise. All that he saw was black though, and not the kind of black where you knew you were either dead or knocked out; but fabric that shone from the moonlight's glow. This didn't give Yugi into fear much though, but when the black fabric moved he became curious.
"No! You can't have him, shoo!" He heard a slightly familiar yet dissimilar voice hissed lowly, the fabric moving again in small tremors. Yugi blinked at the next half growl half sob from the wolf, it sounded rather close.
"I said no! Don't make me beat you; it'll hurt me far more than you." What the…. There was a grumbling growl that seemed to get farther and farther away until it was only an echo in Yugi's ears from a bad memory. He breathed out a large gust of air, a strong and uplifting sigh of relief from a breath he hadn't know he was holding and stood up straight.
The wolf was gone and Bakura was on his way. But, who was his savior? He'd been pretty sure the house was abandoned, and the voice sounded far too young to be a police officer that just came to make sure it was still empty of all residence. So who could it be?
"Er…thanks for saving me…" No response, the form stood absolutely still in front of him, the only thing he could see was hi back and he had a hood over his head that gave Yugi no clue on if he was talking to a girl or a boy. He'd just have to guess by the voice he heard from before. Their heights were fairly similar, and since Yugi was short he wanted to assume it was a girl. Would a girl stand up to a wolf like that though? Not any of the girls he knew.
"Um…who is it that I am thanking? I don't exactly know your-" He was cut off by the figure walking away from him towards the stairs without a word. Yugi's plump cherry lip jutted out, rejection weighing heavy on his heart. All he'd wanted to do was say thank you and know who'd saved him; was that too much to ask?
Yugi's face scrunched up into a determined scowl and he ran after the figure, not taking into account if the wolf was gone or not. "H-Hey, you can't just walk away!" His resolve faltered with his attempt at sounding intimidating but he pressed on. "I-I just wanted to be able to thank you properly-!" He squeaked when he toed one of the boards in the hard wood floor and it sent him forward into the figure.
What the both didn't expect was for Yugi's spikey violet locks to pass right through Yami's chest, making the form writhe in discomfort when Yugi's whole body past through and he fell to the ground chin first. The small teen admitted a small groan to show his own discomfort, not yet sure of how it had affected the other. The pain wasn't that bad though, it more of a human disposition, or a habit he couldn't kick. More than anything he was wonder how he'd passed right through a solid person.
Or…
Yugi's eye lids drooped in his dazed state and his eyebrows creased slowly as he tried to figure out what his own mind was getting at. Before he could come to his own conclusion the person above him moaned in displeasure, quickly jumping back away from Yugi in his own thought proses. Turning his head to look back, Yugi scanned the figures frontal appearance as the said person patted himself down in slight fear.
Although the hood of his cloak still covered his hair, Yugi was more intrigued by his face. The first thing that caught him off guard was his eyes, like rubies they sat within his head, sparkling only slightly with the moonlight. But, the color was off; as though something had tampered with the reflection of its lively glow. His skin wasn't any paler then his own, but Yugi himself was a very pale boy, and this boy's paleness looked a bit unnatural. His face was sharp but at the same time it had a plumpness to it that said he wasn't starving himself or adding to the level obesity that one could have. Yugi had to admit he wasn't bad looking at all; the boy actually looked rather…
Yugi tried to place his finger on the word to describe him when the strange boy finally realized he was staring and spoke up. "You know it's not nice to pass through people!" He exasperated grumpily, a faint pout floating just at the edge of his lips. But, even with his loud tone he received no response from Yugi, for the boy was too lost in thought and had spaced out. "Hello?! Are you listening? If you don't answer me right now I'll-!"
"Cute."
He'd finally figured it out with a smile, but that smile quickly turned into a heated blush as he realized he'd practically purred it out loud right in front of the person he'd been talking about. Screwed as a screwdriver. Avoiding the stranger's eyes he felt it much better to look at the wall; now a wall he could look at, because he wouldn't call it cute and it couldn't possibly embarrass him if he did because it was not a cute boy looking at him funny with the same blush clear on his face. Again, screwed!
"W-what…?" Even his response was cute, what the hell was Yugi supposed to say!? Why teenage hormones!? Why must you ruin my life?
"I-I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to say that…I just…just…" Yugi groaned and decided to pull his knees to his chest to hide his embarrassment; he just wished the floor would suddenly open up from being hit with his lightning bolt of shame and swallow him whole to hide it from the world. But apparently the heavens didn't shine brightly upon him today; and he probably should have known that from the wolf that was about to eat him alive. "Just keep yelling at me, I'm sorry that I passed through you and stuff, ok!?" He exasperated into the tiny opening between his thighs and his torso, hoping it was audible and that he wouldn't have to repeat himself.
Two. Two full minutes of silence past between them; Yugi'd counted it out in his head. What he couldn't figure out in those two minutes though were two things.
If Yami was mad at him, why hadn't he yelled at him for two whole minutes? And if he was correct with his timing, why hadn't Bakura showed up yet? With the silence that continued to drag on he would have been able to hear the car outside or at least coming up to the house; yet he heard nothing.
"So," cold breath mixed with a teasing sultry unexpectedly hits Yugi's arms and he shivers. ", you think I'm cute, huh? That's a first." The second part came into his ear and made him jump slightly and scoot away; his eyes never opening and his forehead staying firmly on his knees. He couldn't help it, Yami may look cute, but he sounded hot; it only made his cheeks all the more flushed and heated.
"No need to be afraid, I just want to know why someone like you would come into a house such as this." He could feel the cold air on his cheeks now, way to close for Yugi's comfort. But, the strange boy didn't sound that threatening; his worlds hung truthfully off his lips and wavered into Yugi's ear, making relief rush through him before he had the chance to hold it back. And before he realized it, he was answering truthfully back; an undeniable force was begging him to, and he couldn't hold back.
"My friend's told me the legend about The Spider King and I came here to see if it was true."
"Did they now? And have you found or seen anything to prove that it's true?"
Yugi thought for a moment. He could've sworn he felt something staring at him, but that'd been about it. "Not really…" The matter of fact answer left his lips in a soft murmur, making the boy coo into his ear.
"That's too bad I suppose. But, what would you have done if you'd met this 'Spider King'? Surely your friends told you that the spider king kills the people that enter his home." Yugi shivered as the voice became even more mysterious and dark in his ear, threatening his IQ into it's most naïve state.
"I didn't care…"
There was a slight intake of breath before the boy was knocked out of his stupor. "And why's that?"
"Because," Yugi stopped with the sudden crease of his brow. Why had he come here again? What had been the purpose of helping the spider king when he knew he might die? What drew him to this place? It couldn't be as simple as 'I wanted to see if he existed'.
No, it was something more…but what was it? "Because…?" The crimson eyed boy drew out, noticing that Yugi's stopped. He was being rather patient too; rather curious.
"Because…I felt drawn to him…like he needed me. I…I don't know why but, it felt like, everything in me told me to come here and save him…"
"Save him? Don't you mean get rid of him?" Confusion leaked off his light baritone voice like a dripping faucet, obviously telling Yugi he'd assumed the Spider King was to be hated.
Yugi's head shot up and he shook it quickly, shooting down that thought without knowing why. "No. I want to know him, to know how he feels, I want to understand him better; because the only thing I do know is that I know very little about him. And I want to protect him because I know there are people who want him gone, who don't understand him, to shield him from his own wrong doings; even the killings of many people I just-." Yugi didn't know that he'd been rambling until a cold finger touched his chin and gently turned it to his left. You could practically here him blinking his lids rapidly in confusion as he looked at the now smirking boy who was so close to his face that he could faintly see blood just below the space where the cloak's hood and Yami's face met and he could feel Yami's breath ghosting on his flesh.
"You're a very strange boy."
Yugi pouted at this and went to protest when a hand clamped around his mouth and prevented him from talking; the chill nipping at his lips and making him whimper and muffle complaints into his hand. "Let me finish, geez." The boy chuckled with a teasing smile; a smile that killed Yugi's complaints right to the base of his throat. "You are indeed a strange boy…but, I like you, and I think you have a future ahead of yourself that shouldn't be toyed with by a silly mistake you made because of your friends. So, I'm going to give you the choice that I never had." His voice was sweet and silky, wrapping Yugi into his trap before he even knew the stage was set. The pressure on his lips disappeared, and his mouth had frozen into a gaping pucker. The boy before him stood up from his kneeling position and looked at Yugi now, his soft and sweet eyes calling out to Yugi's soul and a friendly face that lured Yugi in even further. Though questions sored within his anatomy he couldn't find the space in his brain to let any of them evolve into a fair warning.
"My name is Yami Sennen, son of Sam Sennen and Senren Sennen. If you'd truly like to know more on the spider king tonight," a slim hand reached out to Yugi, a good ten inches away from his face. Amethyst switched up to crimson and met in a temperate gaze, one feasting on the others appearance and the other pondering his credible options. ", take my hand."
Yugi was stumped. He did want to learn more about the Spider King, and Yami seemed willing to help him; but what would he want in return? The teen was no fool, he knew everything in life came with a price; but, at this point what choice did he have? This teen, Yami had saved him from a near death experience, had asked for nothing in return, and was still offering to help him even more so. Who was he to turn down such a generous offer?
The hand waited out patiently for him, that still alluring presence surrounding it, and subtly pulling at his heart strings; his mind following suit. What'd he have to lose?
Blindly, Yugi lifted his small hand to meet Yami's slipping his fingers right along Yami's only to stop at Yami's palm to have him cup his own with a smile. He was lifted up into a standing position swiftly not even minding the sudden rush of cold air that greeted him when he was pulled close to Yami's chest. He gave a Yami a curious furrow of his brow when a hand slithered around his waist and pulled him even closer. Their chest met and their eyes seemed to be entranced by each other; neither of them being able to look away.
Yugi didn't even notice when Yami leaned in to him, his breath seeping in between Yugi's lips and up his nostrils, dulling his senses and making him feel light as the tide. Yugi could clearly see the golden bangs around his face now, and the black spikey hair that protruded in all directions only to come out with brilliant crimson at their tips. Yugi couldn't even hope to think about where the hood had gone, he had no room to care about anything but what his eyes could see clearly in front of him; and Yami was lovely. The only thing Yugi could care to notice sturdily was the sudden gleam in those blood red eyes of his, and the sudden hunger that shun through them that made Yugi's spine melt to liquid calcium and made his whole being scream to run.
Before he could voice his worry, lips crashed into his, grappling his own in an influential and sultry hold. Yugi's eyes flew open wide as his conscience tried to clear itself. No room was left for his attempts however when Yami forced his tongue into his oral cavity and sucked lightly at Yugi's bottom lip; his eyes hooded but not truly closed.
Yugi couldn't take it, he moaned low, losing his resolve quickly as he gave in. His cavern opened wider and his body relaxed into Yami's hold, making it easier for the teen to corrupt him further. He could feel the smirk pressed his lips at his submission, but it soon disappeared as the kiss deepened and his tongue was forced past his lips and into Yami's demanding mouth. Even from there the pink muscle was sucked gently and softened up the buds into flat beds. Yugi let out a small pleading moan as the kiss lingered and chilled his form. He couldn't protest, couldn't cry out, and couldn't move. Soon enough, he'd figure out that this is what spider venom could do if used to the user's advantage.
Only when he heard the sound of an engine roaring outside above their ragged breathing did they pause in their 'make out session.' Yami pulled away only an inch, their lips disconnecting and leaving Yugi to pant as crimson eyes flickered to the door, not even three hundred yard away from were they were currently standing. The hand holding Yugi's glided slowly down his arm and pressed against his cheek, Yami's thumb smoothing over his plump cheek, creasing and needing it until it became an irritated red.
Yugi felt the teen sigh on his lips before pulling him closer. "I'm sorry," was the only thing he heard before there was immense, lung collapsing, pain in his tongue. It was like getting snakebites on your tongue with huge needles that got bigger as they dug into your flesh. Yugi tried to scream, tried to push himself away from that blinding pain, but his shouts only muffled into the others mouth and his body was completely paralyzed. Tears sprung to his eyes as that all too familiar sense of fear came back to him, making sob loudly into Yami's mouth. His eyes were slowly shutting, his hope for survival depleted dramatically, and his grip on Yami's arm tightened vastly before quickly relinquishing its hold to swing limply at his side.
Darkness embraced him with a warm smile, and gravity gave up on him as soon as he discovered his weakness. And all he could hope to think about, beyond the pain, and beyond the betrayal he felt within him, was that he'd never gotten to see the spider king.
