Severus swore and scooped Hermione up into his arms. He ignored Neville, Harry, Draco, Blaise, Theo, Lucius, and Narcissa as they asked questions. He swept out of his classroom and hurried through the hall, out of the dungeons, up three flights of stairs, and finally down the hall and into the infirmary. As soon as he was in the infirmary he bellowed "Poppy!"
Poppy came running out of her office with her mouth open to chastise Severus for bellowing her but as soon as she saw Hermione in his arms she snapped her mouth shut and hurried forward. "Lay her on a bed, Severus. Can you tell me what happened?"
Severus gently laid Hermione on the nearest bed and stepped a little ways back so that Poppy could get to her "I am not sure what exactly happened, Poppy. This morning at breakfast someone cast a muscle tightening spell on Hermione which I was able to remove. And then in class Weasley put his hands on her again but she said she was fine other than that she may need a bruise balm to put on later. She made it through class alright and just as everyone was leaving and I was walking towards her after Longbottom told me she couldn't move all that well she collapsed. What is wrong with my daughter, Poppy?"
Poppy sighed and shook her head. "Let the diagnostic test run, Severus. I am doing a more in depth one than I did this morning or even last night. I am getting all of her health history this time around so it will take five to ten minutes. Now why don't you have a seat and calm down some, Severus? You are not going to do Hermione any good if you are freaking out."
Severus scowled but sat down in the chair beside Hermione's hospital bed just as Lucius, Narcissa, Albus, and Minerva hurried into the infirmary. "I don't know what happened to Hermione yet so don't ask."
Lucius nodded and placed a hand on Severus' shoulder and squeezed it. "I sent Draco, Blaise, Theo, Harry, and Longbottom onto their next class. I know that they wanted to be here but I told them it would be better if they went to class and took lots of notes so that Hermione could copy the notes later on today once she is feeling better. After I told them that they conceded that Hermione would prefer them to do that instead of coming here and just standing around."
Severus cracked a small smile at that. "That she would. If they would have showed up here I would have sent them on their way. There is not any possibility that Hermione would want them to miss a class. She is very strict when it comes to school and school work."
Minerva chuckled and nodded. "That she is. There was actually one time when she was a third year she lectured sixth and seventh years on slacking off on their school work and classes. She lectured them for over five hours. Although I do have to say that after they got lectured by a third year who was doing better than them they did put their heads down and get to work. Hermione will be alright, Severus. Now what is this that I heard you kicked Weasley out of your class this morning?"
Severus' eyes darkened and narrowed as he turned his head to look at both Minerva and Albus. "The stupid idiotic boy put his hands on my daughter! He wouldn't even take them off of her after she shouted loud enough for everyone to hear her for him to get them off of her. He is lucky that I didn't hex him or worse because of what he did. Instead I gave him detention until he graduates with Minerva, Filch, and me. I also took off quite a few points because of his stupidity."
Minerva's eyes hardened and her lips thinned for a few minutes. "I will be sending a letter to his parents today. If they do not deal with him then I will make sure that I deal with him. He was warned to leave Hermione alone and if he can't do it then he will be expelled from Hogwarts and his wand will be snapped. As it is we are still trying to find out who hexed Hermione this morning at breakfast."
At that reminder Severus' eyes narrowed. "They had best hope that you find them before I do, Minerva, because if I find them first they will learn first hand just how much of a bastard that I can be."
Minerva sighed but before she could respond Poppy said "Severus, the diagnostic test is finished now. Do you want me to tell you the results or would you prefer to read them yourself?"
Severus thought about it a few seconds and then finally said "You can tell me the results, Poppy. I don't trust myself to read them without getting pissed off."
Poppy nodded. "Hermione is drained ago so I have sent a house elf to get the ghosts. I don't know why she is drained again but she is. As for her past history of illnesses or injuries before she came to Hogwarts and during the summer months on break after she started Hogwarts they are kind of extensive. At the age of ten she had several broken bones, a punctured lung, a skull fracture, a broken back, and what appears to be a post op staph infection. I am not even sure if the muggle doctors realized that her back had been broken because it healed on its own very quickly for some reason. She has also had several of her cheekbones broken as well as a total of nine concussions before she came to Hogwarts. The ribs are on right side have been cracked and/or broken twice and the ribs on her left side have been cracked and/or broken once. As far as illnesses go she has had her appendix taken out at the age of twelve during the summer months. She has had pneumonia twice and several summer colds."
Severus kept a lid on his temper just barely as he heard Poppy tell him everything that his daughter has been through in her life. He knew for a fact that Hermione had more injuries than Poppy listed but he also knew that those occurred during the war so he let it go. "Can you tell how her cheek bones were broken, Poppy?"
Poppy shook her head. "You know that I can't, Severus. The only thing we can do is ask Hermione about it later on if you choose to. I would suggest letting her rest right now. Her body is still recovering from the muscle tightening hex that she endured this morning. Her passing out like she did was her body's way of telling her that she needed to rest. Once the ghosts get here we can let her sleep until she wakes up. I do believe though that she will be spending the rest of the day and tonight here so that I can keep a close eye on her."
Severus nodded and sat back in his chair even as he looked at Albus. "You can either teach the rest of my classes for me or you can cancel them for today but I am not leaving my daughter's side, Albus."
Albus nodded and smiled. "You stay here with Hermione, Severus. I am sure that between Lucius and I we can handle the rest of your classes today. Be sure to send word if you need us for anything."
Severus nodded curtly and then went back to staring at his daughter. He ignored the ghosts as they all floated in. Right now he didn't care about anything but his daughter.
