Nearly a century ago

Focus on those you love, Bella recited to herself as Edward sat next to her and lifted her wrist. Hold onto the memories you want to keep.

"I love you," she heard Edward whispered before he kissed her. "I love you."

She took his kisses and let herself fall away into the pleasure of his touch that was until she felt his bite and then the pain began.

Three days. Three days of never ending pain that could not be ignored. She had tried focus on the memories of those she loved. But towards then end, the pain won and she felt everything of herself locked away as something else emerged in its place.

When Bella finally opened her eyes, she couldn't feel anything, except for hunger.

"Bella," she heard Edward's voice.

Her eyes flashed to him but her expression did not change.

"Somethings not right," she heard Jasper whisper.

Edward approached her but was cut off by an over enthusiastic pixie.

"You're awake!" Alice had chimed as she unwisely hugged the newborn vampire.

"Alice, be careful," Jasper warned. "I can't feel anything but blood lust coming from her."

Alice rolled her eyes and turned to Jasper. "Oh Jasper, it's not like she's going to bite me…" that's when it happened, Alice collapsed in Bella's arms.

"What just happened?" Rosalie yelled.

"I don't—" Carlisle began but everyone stopped speaking, moving, breathing.

The sound of a heartbeat began to pump and it wasn't Bella's.

Everyone in the room gasped.

"This is not possible," Jasper began. "Bella, no! Get away from her!"

But it was too late, the sweet mouthwatering taste that was Alice had already invaded the nostrils of Bella. And the expression of bloodlust entered into Bella's expression.

It hadn't even been an option to stop. Bella bit down on Alice's neck and everyone screamed. Jasper ran into attack only to convulse himself and collapse.

One by one they fell, each of their hearts coming back to life after countless years of immortality. But Bella hadn't even noticed, all she could focus on was the warm gush of blood in her mouth that screamed ecstasy and after three days of pain all she wanted was pleasure.

She had earned it, the monster said.

"More," the monster within her bellowed before she reached out and grabbed Jasper.

By the time she had finished with him, the rest of the family had scurried and Bella's insides felt a new high, the thrill of the chase.

It all happened so fast, they couldn't run or hide but they tried and struggled against her begging her to stop only exhilarating the monster.

In all the chaos, Edward seemed stupidly resigned to the fate as though he deserved his death.

'Stupid masochistic lion.'

He had reached for her, moments before his death and touched her face and whispered that he forgave her. His blood was the sweetest of them all and she sucked him dry.

The blood had been euphoric, better than drugs and sex. She couldn't remember anything but the taste and when it was over she only felt the need for more.

She walked over his lifeless corpses, the blood dominated every thought. There was nothing outside it, no Cullens, Charlie, no old High School life, no mom basking in the warm Florida sun, nothing but the need for blood.

She left the cottage and walked forth into the wilderness, until she found a small town, and massacred everyone.

And when other vampires crossed her path, they too would die. Eleazar would have found it extraordinary if it hadn't been for his instant death. And the Denali women didn't even get a chance to mourn as their deaths quickly followed.

It took nearly 20-years for Bella to wake-up from her blood crazed self. And when she did, everything was perfectly recorded in her mind for her to recall.

"No," she had cried in the middle of the Amazonian forest. "No, no, no. What have I done? Edward. Carlisle. Rosalie. Esme. Emmett. Jasper. Alice."

Her sobs echoed through the mounts. "No. God, no. Why?! WHHHYYYYY!"

She stayed numb on the forest floor for days. She did not move, eat or speak. All she could do was replay the last two decades. She had killed whole covens of vampires and along the way humans were not spared. The screams, their cries.

"Please Bella, don't do this," Rosalie had begged her. "This should be a gift, not a curse. Please let us live. Let us live. This should be a dream. This should be a dream—NOOOO! Not Emmett! NOO!"

"I need to die," she whispered to no one.

So she went to the one place that could grant her death.

"My dear," Aro began. "What brings you to us?"

"Death," she whispered.

The brothers looked at each other.

"And why should we grant you this kindness," Aro noted.

"I can turn vampires human. I'm a danger to our kind," she spat.

There had been reports circulating of missing vampires across America for sometime. But no stories to tell. No witnesses.

"And the Cullens?" Aro asked.

"They all died human deaths."

"Alec," Aro said. He was not going to take any chances.

Alec had subdued her and for the first time in many years, Bella felt peace that was until Aro tried to rip off her head. Before she had even known it, the whole guard collapsed, including Cauis, Aro and Marcus.

"Fuck," she cried out. "No. It was supposed to work."

As they awoke to their new human forms, Bella could smell the the fear and it tasted appetizing.

She swallowed and her fist grew tight.

Everyone began to move.

Her eyes flashed around the room.

"Don't run," she warned.

But it was too late because even before she had finished speaking, Aro had tried to run out of the room. He died within seconds and everyone else followed.

It took her another decades and piles of dead vampire covens before she found herself again.

It was the most horrible of curses, to be immortal and alone. And it almost drove her mad. Then something happened as she strode through the forest of France, she smelled something and ran towards it. And that's when she stepped into an abandoned camp of some kind. And hanging there, was jacket. She stepped closer, the smell had faded but still she knew it. It smelled like home.

Jacob, she remembered and this sudden need to get back squeezed her heart. The memory of him had filled her with so much joy she felt like Bella again. She could remember his laughter, his warmth, his smile. She feared that perhaps he was gone, but a piece believe otherwise. And for the first time in decades, Bella felt hope.

She swam back across the ocean with no second thoughts.

But before she could see him again, she knew she had to control the beast inside her. And so she traveled back up into the forest and away from all humans. And with time, the memories grew stronger and she became more aware and conscious of herself. And with that more memories began to form in her mind.

I can do this, she told herself. I can control the monster.

So she started out slowly, getting near towns, and immersing herself in a smell that burned her throat and made her hungry but she had control.

And that's when returned to Forks and when she found him, just as she remembered him, she felt so elated she jumped up and down like a little girl on Christmas morning. The feeling of joy was so sudden she giggled and cried for hours.

She soon discovered that he lived alone in the woods. His pack had already grown old through the century giving up their shifting into wolves so they could live with their brides and families. A human life that brought old age and death for the pack, while Jake still didn't look more than 25-years-old. And yet, she also noticed a roughness in her old friend's stare.

It was mostly his eyes that betrayed him, for in them anyone could see how much he had seen and lost, there was a bitter old man in there.

So many times she had wanted to approach him as an old friend stopping by for a surprise visit, but she recalled his threat, he would kill her the first moment he saw her. So she watched another few weeks, trying to keep her distance that was until he started hunting her.

And then the unthinkable happened, she turned him human. How she did it, she didn't know. She thought perhaps it was only limited to vampires, she had been wrong.

She feared getting near him at first. But as she approached his unconscious, naked body, she realized that his scent didn't cause her mouth to water.

'Thank you, God," she nearly cried before she picked him up. "Thank you."

A/N: There u go. a bit of her past. what say you?
