CHAPTER:
He stilled and felt the heavy weight of her request upon his shoulders.
Can I? The question hung in the air.
He pulled away and took her in and the way her eyes pleaded with him, the question erased and all he knew was that she needed and wanted him as much as he wanted her.
He pulled Bella towards him and was rewarded with an elated gasp. He swore for a moment that her eyes had glowed like a feral animal in the dark he dismissed it under his own excitement.
It was as he had always suspected. She was not the type that wanted to be treated like a fragile doll. She liked it rough.
He dipped his nose down into the crook of neck and breathed her in before his fingers dug into her behind and he could feel her chest heaving in excitement.
His hands picked her up and her legs wrapped around him and when she felt his excitement she let out a throaty moan before she rolled her heated center against him.
He growled and brought her back down on the bed and was rewarded by the smell of anticipation and desire. His fingers traveled down her body and she nearly came in her panties when she felt his nose against her center.
She made nonsensical moans and twitched as she felt his breath against her.
His thumb pressed over the thin material that covered her.
"Oh, Jacob," she cried.
She felt and heard the material on her legs torn and in only fueled her desire.
Soon the rest of her clothes followed leaving her with nothing to hide her.
"Perfect," Jake thought aloud before he dipped back down and began to savor and devour her.
Bella arched into his touches, sucklings and kisses.
"I need you to kiss me," she cried. "I need to feel your lips against my own. Please."
Jacob stopped and pulled back up to her.
Face to face.
There was a vulnerability there behind her eyes and all the animalistic passion became overwhelmed with something more, something pure.
He dipped down and caressed her cheek with his thumb. They stared at each other as if they only existed and something warmed inside him exploded and spread through him.
"Isabella," he whispered before he took her lips softly and tenderly. Her arms wrapped around him and they held each other as their lips molded around one another.
Bella's fingers began to pull at Jake's shirt. Smiles began to creep up onto their faces between kisses. This was happening and they both knew it.
That was until the phone rang and the Manny TV sang out. "Call from favorites list, Sarah Uley. Call from Sarah Uley."
Bella flashed an indignant glare towards the living room and her eyes momentarily flashed in a dark rusted-red.
Jake nearly fell off the bed at the site of it.
The TV continued to ring.
"Manny ignore call," Jake hollered before he turned back to Bella.
The ringing stopped.
"Are you okay?" he asked her.
Bella said nothing at first but then opened her lips to speak.
"Message left," Manny interrupted. "It includes a reminder to call. Sarah is worried."
Bella looked away, disappointment and anger coursing through her.
Why is she on your favorite list? Bella thought, alongside a million other thoughts. Her emotions were starting to get away from her she realized. It almost reminded her of the days when was a newborn.
"I guess you should call her," she spat.
"No, I will text her," he said.
He texted Sarah letting her know he was fine.
She immediately texted back saying she was worried and needed to hear his voice to make sure he was okay.
Bella looked over and her insides screamed that the girl should die.
"Damn it," Jake muttered. He knew that if he didn't call she would come.
"She did say to call her back everyday," Bella hissed. "Every. Fucking. Day."
"I'm disappointed as you are," he confessed and touched her cheek.
She immediately felt a bit taken aback by the caress.
Another text came through.
"I'm taking a shower," she bit out and went to the bathroom and slammed the door behind her. The room momentarily shook.
Meanwhile, Jake stepped out to living room feeling livid.
He dialed and the call went to voicemail.
"Sarah," he growled when another call was coming in. It was her.
He answered.
"Oh Jake, please tell me you're okay. I've been so worried." she continued on a ramble until Jake insisted he was fine.
"But why didn't you call?" she whined.
Jake could hear the pout over the phone. "I'm fine," he snapped.
"Please don't be mad at me," she whimpered. "I was just worried."
He sighed.
"I thought something had happened to you," Sarah said. "I haven't heard from you."
"Didn't you mother tell you that she came to see me?"
"Mom?" there was a pause. "No. Why—why did she go see you?"
"She brought Bella some clothes."
"What?!" Sarah exclaimed. "You mean that leech is wearing my clothes?!" The shrieks were probably heard all over town now.
"Do not—" Jake began when he heard Connie.
"Sarah Cynthia Uley. What do you think you're doing?"
"Mom, why would you—"
Jake didn't even bother staying on the phone. He hung up.
"God that girl is going to be the death of me," Jake groaned.
He took a deep breath and went to the kitchen and poured himself a glass of milk.
"Getting low," he whispered to himself before he drank.
Bella came out a few minutes later wearing a night gown but said nothing and Jake didn't know what to say.
"I guess I should shower, too," he said.
She nodded and went to the living room and looked through his library. He had so many books about buildings and architecture. She pulled one about environmental building in cities.
She sat down and scanned the pages and felt herself immersed in all the progress that had been made through the years. There as now glass that was also solar panels, buildings with pant life that provided insulation. So many exciting possibilities where the organic and industrial could come together. She could see why Jake had made his choice.
Bella couldn't deny it disappointment still hung in her thoughts. She had been angry and nearly had broken the door knob when she had locked it behind her.
They had been so close to something amazing and now the moment was gone.
She continued to read. She refused to let anger overpower her temper.
Soon she felt her eyelids droop. It felt wonderful to feel a welcomed slumber.
"Morpheus, God of sleep," she murmured. "How I missed your peaceful embrace."
And with that sleep embraced her like an old friend.

Later, when Jake came out of the shower, he found her asleep on the couch.
"Sorry, Bells," he whispered before he kissed her cheek and picked her up to take it to bed. "I'll make it up to you. I promise. I promise I will find a way for us to be together."

The following day
"What do you mean you have to go out tonight for patrol?" Bella asked. She couldn't understand would there be a need.
"I haven't been on a decent patrol for a while. I need to do this, for peace of mind mostly."
She furrowed her brow.
"I can't get lazy about it," he explained. "Sometimes even my smell is enough to deter vampires and the occasional zombie."
Bella's eyes widened. "There are zombies?"
Jacob laughed, "No. I lied. I was just trying to make you laugh."
"Booo," she pouted.
Jake sighed and pulled her into a hug. "Look, we'll spend the day together but tonight I'm off for the hunt and if I'm lucky I get to come back by tomorrow morning, take a quick nape and then we can go somewhere."
"Somewhere?" Bella asked.
He nodded. "There's this cabin, up high in the mountains that I want to take you to. It's by a really great lake. I thought we could go for a swim."
Bella had to admit she kind of like the idea.
"What are we doing today?" she asked.
"Is there anything you would like to see?" he asked.
She thought about it for a moment. She actually didn't want to see anything. If she could, she would have stayed in bed all day with Jake by her side but with Sarah's perfect timing the prior night, Bella had fear for another interruption. Then a thought occurred to her.
"Can you take me to see my old house?" she asked. "I don't remember it much and when I passed through the town I couldn't remember the streets."
Jake frowned. "It doesn't exist anymore," he said. "It was torn down a few years back and another home was built there."
Bella did not expect that.
"What did they build?"
"Just another house, it's actually something the firm I once worked for designed. It's the latest in eco-living."
She looked around the house. "Is this house up to that standard?"
"Here and there. Like all the dish and laundry water going into a cycling system that treats the water. My roof has the panels that powers the house and the insulation is made out of mushrooms that continue to grow and recycle. But it's just for me, so I didn't build in heating or cooling."
"So you built this place?"
I designed it. And hired a few people."
Bella sat on a stool and poured herself more coffee.
"Jake, why did you leave the reservation?"
Jake took her hand. "What would you do if all your friends began to die and even their kids were starting to get old and gray themselves? It just didn't feel right. Everyone there now, they are all kids that I got to see grow up. I mean Connie and Dean, I was there when they were just days old.
"Why didn't you settle down or get married?"
"Goes back to part one," he said. "I felt like an old man compared to everyone. And come on, who's going to understand a reference to our childhood? No one. There's no one left, Bella."
She knew what he meant, no one would get the jokes or the movie and music references.
"I'm sorry," she said.
"Don't be," he replied before he got up and began to clean dishes.
"Do you want to watch another episode of Battlestar?" he asked.
"I think I will watch it tonight while you're on patrol. It will distract me."
"Okay," he said before something occurred to him. "Do you want to go for a ride on my killer motorcycle."
Bella smiled. "Sure."
By the time they returned Bella had felt sleepy enough to take a nap. Jake took advantage and put everything away and heated up some dinner.
By the time she was up, he had eaten and was ready to head out.
"Do you really have to go?" she asked as she rubbed her eyes and served herself some pot roast and potatoes.
"I do," he said.
It wasn't a complete lie. He hadn't made a complete run in quite a while. Bella had thrown off his whole schedule and life.
In truth, all he wanted was to stay behind and be with her but he needed to stay levelheaded and not get distracted. And he knew damn well that if he started something with Bella he would probably stay in doors for months.
Besides, he didn't want to wait anymore to find out how to help her. He had decided that tonight was the night to grab the keys from Dean and Connie, so he could search the archives. A piece of him told him he should tell Bella but he didn't want to give her false hope.
Bella looked a bit put out. She couldn't just go with him now, not in her semi-human-like-state. She knew already that she was powerless; she couldn't run faster than a speeding bullet, or take a bullet at this point for that matter. She pouted.
Jake seemed to find her pout amusing and laughed.
"Awe…come on Bella no pouting allowed. Besides, I'll be back before the sun rises."
She decided she wouldn't make it easy on him and looked up at him with her big eyes.
"So you're actually going to leave me by myself again?" she asked.
He rolled his eyes knowing what she was trying to do.
"If anything happens, you can use Manny to call me," he said.
"Yes? What can I do for you, today?" The television answered in a male
Bella couldn't help but snort.
"See you tomorrow," he said before kissing her cheek and walking out the door.
"Bye," she whispered quietly after he left.
After a long shower, she sat down and the television offered some options for TV viewing. She decided to watch some continue watching Battlestar Gallatica.
After quite a marathon of episodes she felt her eyes grow droopy, when suddenly the TV (Manny) announced an incoming phone call from Jake.
"Answer," Bella smiled groggily. "Hey Jake."
But he didn't respond all she could hear was some rustling.
Bella laughed.
"We're in the 22nd century and we still have to protect ourselves from Butt dialing," she chuckled.
She was about to hang up when she heard a woman's voice that made Bella's blood drain from her cheeks.
"Ooooh Jaaaaakkkeeee," she heard.
Bella stood up slowly from the couch as she stepped closer to the TV.
"Yes…yes…right there…Oh God…oh God," the woman's voice rang out. "More! Give me more. Oh…ooooh…oooohhh…yes…ah ah ah ah."
Bella knew that voice. Then she heard a deep groan and growl. "Sarah," the voice growled and she knew it was Jake.
The rustling of sound continued, followed with more ridiculous amounts of moaning and Bella couldn't take it anymore.
"Manny turn off."
The television turned off and Bella felt hot tears flow down her face.
He lied. He didn't need to go on patrol. He went to see her.
"No, it has to be something else," she said aloud. "Maybe he went to her house for I don't know what for…and he dropped his phone that is a possible answer. She's fucking with me that is what it is."
She rubbed her cheeks trying to get rid of the tears but she couldn't stop them.
Then why did he tell you that he was going patrolling? He lied to you, Bella. He lied and went to her house and is fucking her while you are here playing house. And you heard his fucking voice, growl her name! How could you be so blind? You saw her. You saw how latched on she was to him. She said they were more than friends and he never said otherwise.
The pain to know that he was with another cut through her like a knife. And a piece of her couldn't help to feel the irony that in way she had done something similar to Jake so long ago by going to another man.
But that didn't matter anymore she told herself. They were here in the present and he had made silent promises to her in the woods and then in his room.
Our time out there together must have meant something. But why would he lie to me?
And then after a while she grew mad and began to hit the pillows with all her might and when she couldn't really inflict damage she screamed and screamed until finally she felt a deep growl form in her throat. The growl grew until it turned into a roar. And before she knew anything else she jumped off the couch and tossed it across the room. The loud crash of glass, wood and fiber grumbled through the house.
Bella's eyes grew wide open.
"Oh Manny," she said to the poor broken television. "I'm so sorry…"
A/N: Ok...so before your hurl the kitchen sink at me know that you will get to see Jake's POV in the next chapter. If I receive a good amount of reviews you will see it by Sunday evening! Many thanks.
