AN: I don't own Harry Potter. If only I did...
Thank you all so much for the reviews, follows and faves.
So sorry for the wait. My muse got sidetracked with another story of mine, and I've been sick off and on, and a bit of writer's block for this. So -Let's get to the wedding, yeah?
I wanted something a bit different, so I came up with my own wedding ceremony. I know it's a bit odd, but I think it works.
Well, Thanksgiving is over. So much food and twice as much leftovers. I needed something to keep me awake after lunch, so I took the time when everyone was napping and did some writing.
Alright, my lovelies. Go! Read and Enjoy!
Previously on 'Things Change':
Hermione smiled as she turned to watch Mallory, Luna and Ginny begin to walk into the Great Hall. After Ginny entered, the doors were shut, concealing the corridor so Hermione could get into position. As she stood in place, grasping Lucius' arm, she took one last deep breath.
"I'm ready." she said.

Suddenly, as if by apparation, Harry and Ron found themselves on the other side, standing beside Kingsley, waiting for their best friend to walk through the doors and up the aisle.
The Great Hall had never looked so beautiful. The house tables and benches had been removed, and in their place were rows and rows of six chairs on either side of the aisle, covered in navy blue cloth with a white bow tied around them. The aisle was covered with a navy blue runner from the doors to the altar. Next to the chairs beside the aisle were navy blue pedestals holding white flower pots with blue flowers. Both boys were surprised at the lack of house colors involved, but neither thinking it didn't look lovely in the Great Hall.
"Breathe, Severus." Kingsley said as the doors shut, signaling that Hermione was standing on the other side while the bridesmaid's walked up to the altar.
Sirius, Remus and Draco, who were Severus' best men, all chuckled as Severus took a couple of deep breaths and smoothed down his jacket.
Suddenly, the bridal march began to play, and all three hundred guests stood and faced the back of the Great Hall, waiting for the doors to open. Despite having seen her already, Harry and Ron gasped along with everyone else as the doors finally opened and Lucius and Hermione began the walk down the aisle. If she was beautiful before, she was twice as beautiful now, with a huge smile on her face as she kept her eyes on Severus the whole way. No words had been said, as the ceremony had yet to begin, but already Harry and Ron noticed people in the audience wiping their eyes.
"Merlin." Severus breathed, not taking his eyes off his bride.
As Lucius and Hermione got to the altar, Lucius kissed Hermione's cheek before placing her hand in Severus' and patting his old friend on the shoulder before going to stand beside his wife.
Kingsley cleared his throat as Severus and Hermione stepped in front of him. He raised his hand and then lowered it, indicating everyone to sit down.
"Before we begin, I would just like to say that I have known both Severus and Hermione for many years, and I am so glad they found each other. I have never seen either of them half as happy as they've been since their relationship began, and I know they'll continue to make each other happy for many, many years to come." he said, smiling at the couple with a bit of a twinkle in his eye and a bright smile on his face.
"Now, we're going to be doing things a bit differently than usual, so please bear with us." Kingsley said. "Hermione, Severus, do you both stand here today on your own free will?"
"We do." they answered.
"Do you swear to love only one another for the rest of your days?"
"We do."
"Do you swear to honor each other, letting no one else come between you for the rest of your days?"
"We do."
"Do you swear to bear one another's burdens, share one another's tears and laughter for the rest of your days?"
"We do."
"Would the best man please hand the rings to me?" Kingsley asked, nodding at Remus as he stepped forward, handing him Hermione's diamond and Severus' silver ring. "These rings are a symbol of your never-ending love and commitment to one another. There is no beginning, and there is no end." he said. "Severus, please place Hermione's ring on her finger, and repeat 'With this ring, I thee wed'."
Severus reached out and picked up the ring he had ordered special for Hermione. It was a three carat princess cut diamond ring with a split shank band, the diamond sitting proudly against the emeralds that were on the band.
"With this ring, I thee wed." he said in his velvety voice, looking in Hermione's eyes as he slid the ring onto her finger.
"Hermione, please place Severus' ring on his finger, and repeat 'With this ring, I thee wed'." Kingsley said.
Hermione reached out with a shaky hand and picked up Severus' wedding ring from Kingsley's hand. She had wanted to get him something that would fit his style, and had succeeded. It was a wide finished tungsten carbide ring with a black finish and grooved edges. It just screamed 'Severus', and had a simple but elegant feel to it.
"With this ring, I thee wed." she said, a single tear making it's way down her cheek as she locked eyes with her beloved, sliding the ring onto his finger. Neither she nor Severus could stifle their chuckles when they heard Hagrid loudly blowing his nose from the back of the Great Hall.
"Severus and Hermione, you've fallen in love, you've gotten engaged, you've taken the vows, and now you've exchanged rings. By the power vested in me by the Ministry of Magic and upon the blessing of Merlin, I now pronounce you husband and wife. Severus, you may kiss your bride." Kingsley said, laughing when Severus jumped the gun and pulled Hermione to him before he had finished speaking.
Severus wrapped his arms around his new wife and kissed her passionately but chastely, lifting her off the ground. He tried to convey in that moment all the things he was feeling, not caring who was watching. Setting her back on the ground, he pressed his forehead against hers, gently grabbing her face in his hands and giving her another little kiss.
"I love you, Mrs. Snape." he said.
"I love you, too, Mr. Snape." Hermione said, smiling through her tears.
As the memory faded, Harry and Ron watched as the bridesmaid's and Helena swarmed around Hermione as the groomsmen and Lucius also surrounded Severus, congratulating him.
"Well, that was..." Harry said, turning away from Ron and wiping his eyes.
"Yeah." Ron said, also wiping his eyes. Clearing his throat, he said, "I don't know about you, but I could go for something to eat."
"Sounds good. Let's go tell Helena bye and then we'll go find some lunch. Maybe the Leaky?" Harry asked as they began their walk upstairs.
"We should get Mione and Snape something."
"Like what?" Harry asked.
"I dunno. What do most married couples want for their wedding?" Ron asked.
Harry stopped on the step he was on and looked back at Ron with a frown. "I dunno. Maybe some china or something?"
Ron shrugged. "Probably." he said, following as they began walking again. As they got upstairs, they heard Helena talking to Hermione.
"How's Ginny doing?" Helena asked. "She and Draco were supposed to come over last night for dinner, but he said she was too sick to leave the house."
"She's alright. She's in the morning sickness stage, which incidentally comes at all hours, so..." Hermione answered, trailing off.
"I'm sorry Severus couldn't stay, love. I had something I wanted to show him." Helena said, sipping her tea.
"He'll be back later. He said there was some kind of accident at the store that he had to take care of." Hermione said.
As they entered the living room, they smiled seeing Hermione sitting on the sofa with baby Nicholas in her arms.
"Hi, boys." Helena greeted. "I'm gonna go see how Mitzy's doing with lunch." she said, standing up and smiling at Harry and Ron on her way out. She had learned that they were usually hungry right after a pensieve visit.
"Hey, Mione." they said together, sitting on the sofa across from her.
Hermione smiled at them as they sat down. "Hi, guys. It's about time you came up for air." she said. "What memory did you watch today?"
"Your wedding." Harry said. "Can I hold Nicholas?" he asked.
"Oh. That's one of my favorites." she said, standing gently and handing Nicholas to Harry. "I came down there a bit ago, but after ten minutes it was obvious you weren't coming up anytime soon." she added as she retook her seat.
"It was a long memory." Ron said. "By the way, what's the deal with that Mallory bird who was in your wedding?" he asked.
"Mallory? She's a dear friend of mine." Hermione said. "Why?" she asked, narrowing her eyes as the tip of Ron's ears turned red.
"No reason." he mumbled. "Just wondering."
"She's single if that's what you meant." she said. "Would you like me to introduce you to her?"
Ron shrugged again. "If you want, yeah." he said, staring down at his shoes.
Hermione laughed as he played it cool. She knew that if Harry wasn't in the room, Ron would be down on his knees begging her to introduce him to Mallory.
"Alright. Tell you what, I'm having lunch with her tomorrow, why don't you tag along? It'll come across better if she doesn't think I'm setting her up." Hermione said, smiling as she heard Harry making baby talk with Nicholas. "Meet me in the Leaky at eleven." she added.
"Okay." Ron agreed.
"Uh, Mione?" Harry said, looking to Hermione with a funny look on his face. "I think Nicholas needs changing." he said.
Hermione laughed, grabbing the diaper bag from the floor beside the sofa and standing. "Sorry about that, Harry." she said, holding her arms out.
"It's alright, really. Just makes you wonder how something so small can make such an awful smell." he said, making her giggle as she carried Nicholas out of the room.
Hermione carried Nicholas into the kitchen after she finished changing him. She could hear her mum, Harry and Ron laughing over something.
"...and she was just lying there, covered in poo, laughing away." Helena said, laughing as Harry and Ron laughed with her.
"Oh, gods, not that story!" Hermione whined. She knew her mum was telling Harry and Ron the famous poo story from when she was a baby.
"What? I think it's a cute story." Helena defended. "Nicholas is just like you. You were such a happy baby."
Hermione snorted. "Please. Nicholas is only like me until around seven every night, then he turns into Severus." she said. "Eileen says he was a very fussy baby, and nothing ever made him happy." she added.
"Oh, you put him in one of the outfits I bought for him." Helena said, cooing over her grandson.
"I had to. There was poo on the back of the other one. I evanesco'd the mess away, but went ahead and changed him." she said. "I should probably be getting home. I've got some papers to fill out for the restaurant, and Nicholas needs a bath."
Helena sighed. "Alright, love." she said. Kissing Nicholas on the forehead, she said, "You be a good boy for Mummy. We'll see you tomorrow for dinner, yes?"
Hermione nodded. "Yes, at six o'clock." she said, leaning in to kiss Helena on the cheek. "Bye Harry, Ron. I'll see you for lunch, remember."
"Eleven at the Leaky. Got it." Ron said.
"You need some help home, Mione?" Harry asked.
"No, I got my car outside. But thanks." she said, smiling. "Bye, everyone." she said, turning to leave.
"Bye, Mione." "Bye, sweetheart." "Bye." the three said, giving little waves as she left.
Ron finished off his lemonade and stood. "We should be going, too. We promised Bill we'd stop by Shell Cottage and help him with some repairs Fleur wanted done."
"Right." Harry said, also standing. "Thanks for lunch, Helena. Be sure to pass our thanks on to Mitzy." he said.
Helena smiled as she nodded. "I will. Have fun, boys." she said, waving as they exited the door onto the patio and disapparated.
Review please.
Til next time!
