Alex was staring at the cough syrup bottle.

It was a typical Sunday. The birds were chirping, the sun was shining, Clover was still in bed snoring. Except there was one difference, Alex was sick.

She knew she shouldn't have joined in with Clover for karaoke night but who could resist it when the blonde was giving her that charming smile along with the sparkling blue eyes…and now she had a sore throat and Clover was still sleeping.

Alex was dreading drinking the cough syrup. She didn't like the taste at all and was kind of regretting belting out to 'Torn' with Clover last night.

The door opened and Sam walked in. She just got back from her daily morning jog; her shirt was wet with sweat and she still had her earphones on.

"Hey Alex, what did you ea—You still haven't touched the cough syrup?" Sam pulled her earphones out.

"I don't think I need it."

"You've been coughing the whole night last night."

"That's just how I sleep normally."

"Come on, just drink it." Sam moved the bottle closer to Alex who dodged it like it was a speeding bullet.

"Just give me a minute!"

"What's going on?" Clover stiffled a yawn. She streched as she slowly walked towards the kitchen.

Looking at Clover, Alex wondered how the girl still looked amazing after the train wreck of a Karaoke night and some extreme headbanging.

"I don't want to drink the cough syrup. It's gross." Alex whined.

Clover laughed. "Alex, you know you have to drink it right? Yesterday night you were coughing like crazy. This is going to help you get better." She pushed the bottle slightly closer.

"Why don't you try drinking it then?" Alex put on a challenging smile and pushed the bottle back to Clover.

"Ew no, it's gross."

"See?" Alex stood straight up after she had successfully proven her point.

Clover and Sam exchanged a few tempted glances, wondering if they should actually try the cough syrup.

Clover moved her glance down to her feet and sighed. "Fine, I'll drink it. But only if you promise that you're going to drink it after me."

"Yes, I promise."

Clover picked up the bottlle, smelled it and wrinkled her nose. "Maybe you don't need this. Just rest, you'll feel better." She smiled and immediately put it down.

"No no, you've made a promise. Drink it!" Sam picked it up again.

Clover poured the cough syrup into a tiny cup and chugged the whole thing down while Sam and Alex were cheering in the background. "There! I did my part, it's your turn."

Alex poured herself another cup and stared at it for a while. "Okay…here I go…I'm going to drink this…" She closed her eyes and gulped down the medicine. As the medicine touched her tongue, she made a face.

"You look like a baby who just tasted a lemon for the first time." Clover teased.

"That's great, Alex. Time to clean this up." Sam grabbed the bottle but Clover stopped her.

"Aren't you trying it too,Sam?"

"What? No. I didn't make such promises."

"Come on, Sammy. Just join in the fun." Alex said.

Sam poured herself a cup. "This is in no way fun." She drank it. Clover and Alex were chanting her name like she was the star of a football game.

Sam slammed the cup down on the table and stayed quiet for a while. "You know, I just remembered. Doesn't cough syrup make you sleepy?"

Clover and Alex looked at each other.

"Well, that was a dumb move…"
