She hears them again. The moment she passes by their door, she can hear Clover and Sam's voices shouting at each other. Everyday, she hears the same thing when she comes home. They've been living with each other for years now and you think the arguments would stop but it seems like they just find more things to fight about.

Alex sighs as she twists the key into the lock. Please don't say I have to come between another arguments.

As the door opens, the noises stop. The house is in complete silence. That's strange.

"Hello?" Alex calls out.

A chorus of hellos come from the kitchen. She follows the sound to find Clover and Sam standing at the counter with a plate on it, looking at her direction like they were expecting for her to come.

"What's up?" Alex asks.

"Nothing much." Clover shrugs, sitting down on one of the stools.

"I heard shouting from outside." Alex says.

"Oh, that was nothing. You don't need to worry about that." Sam replies.

"Were you two fighting?"

Both Sam and Clover shake their heads. They clearly were fighting, the two aren't even making eye contacts right now but Alex wonders why they're covering it up.

"No, you guys were fighting!" Alex says.

Clover raises her eyebrows at her reaction. "So we were, but you shouldn't be worrying about it."

"Why shouldn't I be?" Now she's getting a bit frustrated.

"Well, we've been thinking. We fight a lot and you always end up being caught in the middle. So we've decided to stop fighting around you to make it easier for you." Sam explains with a smile.

Alex isn't sastified with the answer. She wants them to solve it out with her.

"I don't care about you guys fighting in front of me! I can help you work it out!"

"But they're just silly arguments that would waste your time." Sam says.

"No arguments are silly arguments! I want to help!"

Clover sits up and stares at Alex for a long while. She cocks an eyebrow, questioning the girl. "You promise that you won't be annoyed by the arguments no matter how silly it is?"

"Yes! Now what were you guys fighting about?" Alex raises her voice, demanding to know the answer.

Clover and Sam exchange hateful glances and carries on with their argument. Sam pushes the empty plate in front of Clover.

"I think it's unfair that you ate the last cookie even though you rejected it before when I offered." Sam says in a matter of fact voice.

Alex blinks. This is what they were fighting over. A cookie.

"That's it. I'm out." Alex raises both arms in surrender and exits the room.

She's just going to let them be. They'll keep on fighting but maybe that's for the better. It keeps the house alive.
