When Shino and I left the lunch-room, I knew the questions would come soon as Shino took us home before we even had been shopping. "Why did you call me your mate instead of your boyfriend?" He asked. I made us some tea and sat down before answering.
"If what my clan has written is true, it's what you are. Azura clan members do not just fall in love with someone like normal people do. The one thing that each and every clan member had in common was that they 'mate for life' much like swans do. There is one person, and one person only in the whole world, that an Azura 'belongs to' no matter who the person is or what they do. My mother is a good example of that. When she met my father, he was already a missing-nin having killed the third Kazekage and all. However she still loved him for the person he is and not for what he did. even when he left her and joined Akatsuki she still loved him after he found her again and brought her here. The one side-effect is that as with swans, an Azura will not survive for long after their mate dies which was one reason that the phoenix life jutsu didn't work on lady Chiyo. I'm not sure what happens when the Azura dies before their mate does." I explained as best as I could.
"So basically, the reason you broke up with me that one time, you escaping so dramatically and when Pein attacked, you came to me first, was because you tried to protect me because you think I am your soulmate, your other half?" He asked. I nodded bracing myself slightly for whatever his reaction would be. "Yuri, you could've told me earlier, but I'm glad that you feel this way. Each time you left, I was afraid that you didn't love me as much as I love you. Now I understand much better. You do love me don't you?"
"I do. I love you so much that it breaks my heart to see you upset." He kissed me after my reply, I could feel his love for me in this kiss and some passion as well, I kissed back pouring my feelings for him in the kiss which started gentle, but turned rougher after a bit. His tongue found it's way in my mouth and the simple kiss turned in a full make out, until my head started to ache. I groaned in pain which caused Shino to stop and look at me in worry.
"Nothing wrong, just a slight headache. Tsunade warned me that this could happen if things were... heating up." I said as I blushed at the last part.
"How is it going with your head?" He asked.
"She said she could fix it in a week, though she forbade me to do anything strenuous and things I have to think hard about. I have to visit her each day for a healing session." I told him.
"Why don't you go take some rest, I'll do the shopping alone and later you can tell me exactly what happened during time you were gone." He said. Some sleep sounded good so I agreed and I went to my room asking Tora to stay downstairs and if someone came, that he would tell me. Shino had left and I was in bed trying to sleep but it wouldn't happen, I was still too wound up so I decided on a shower to relax some more.
When I was done I felt very refreshed. I healed myself so no bruises and other wounds were left except for my head. Then I went downstairs for some water. Shino came back soon and then I had to tell him what happened, after he helped me to get out of the village. I'm surprised that Danzo hadn't interrogated him. He said that Kakashi had shown the scroll that stated me as the intel gatherer in Jiraiya's stead to the elders and that he had told them that I was spying on Akatsuki.
"So what to do now?" I asked.
"We are both to help get ready for the war by preparing the hidden bunker for the civilians with provisions and other things. Unfortunately we aren't put together in the same team so we won't see each other very much."
"As long as it's for something good, I don't mind too much." I said though I was sad that I wouldn't see him much.
"You're right, though it does sadden me."
"Perhaps we could make it work like we did during the rebuilding of the village after Pein's attack." That cheered him up a little. The next week I recovered well with Tsunade's and Shino's help. The preparations for the war were going well. We were even ahead of schedule. I wonder how Naruto is doing. He was already on the ship on its way to Bee-sama. Sakura had slowly started forgiving me for what I did to her. She had started to understand that I was just trying to protect my family. I also had started to teach
Three weeks later, I was on a mission with Anko and one of Shino's clan-members and two other guys including a Hyuuga. Apparently Kabuto had reached sage mode and he had joined Madara. They had captured Yamato and were using him to make the thousands white Zetsu that hid underground. He showed something to Madara which caused me to nearly ruin the mission. He used some jutsu that let dead ninjas live again. He was showing most of the Akatsuki members except for Kisame and Hidan. Then I saw a familiar red head. It was Sasori. I couldn't hide the whispered "Father!" in time for them to not discover us. "We have to get this intel to the village! Hurry!" Anko said and we all fled the scene hoping to escape.
It was planned that if something went wrong, that I would keep the intel with me while the other four would hold the enemy back. I had most chance to get away as I was able to use Blitz for a quick getaway. Especially with Ryuu-sama's added chakra it was somewhat easier to use Blitz. Anko went after Kabuto.
"Blitz hurry, we have to get to the alliance's headquarters so we can relay this information to our allies." Blitz neighed and ran as fast as she could. One by one my squad members stopped to keep the enemy from reaching us. It took a full day before I reached headquarters and not without interruptions, stupid Ryutaro was in the way again. Just in time too because it was almost time to begin the march. Getting inside the office I appeared right behind the only kage I have always kept trusting and who would be leading the Shinobi force on the battlefield. Gaara.
"Gaara-sama, I have come with very important news." I said falling on my knees from exhaustion as I offered him the intel we had gathered. He read it quickly to the other Kage and I was sent to get some rest, when out of nowhere... he called
"Come here, my pet... your master needs you..." I tried to fight it but I couldn't.
"yes... master Uchiha." I answered in my mind. I turned around and decided to say goodbye first. He didn't say when I had to come so I had a little time. I went to the Kage first.
"Good luck, all of you with the upcoming battles. I hope I can fight at your side sometime. For now however, I will have to be on his side as I have no choice in this matter. Goodbye." Next I went to look for the konoha nine and Shino, when I found him I also found Kiba, Akamaru and Ino. The others understood I had no choice, even Sakura did, and they assured me that they wouldn't hold a grudge.
"Hey Yuri, are you with us?" Kiba greeted when he noticed me.
"Hey." I answered sadly. "No I'm not. I am sort of my own division. I have come to wish you all good luck and I hope that I can fight at your side sometime soon. For now I have no choice but to be on his side." I told them. Shino and Kiba knew who I meant. Kiba would fill Ino in later. I hugged them both goodbye and then I turned to Shino.
"He called again, didn't he?" He asked me while wrapping me in his arms. I nodded looking down because I might have to fight against him.
"I don't know for what yet. Gaara will have some more information about what to expect." I told him. Pulling him closer I buried my face in his shoulder. "I'm so sorry for everything." I said while trying to keep my tears away.
"It's okay, you can't help it. I'm sure that you will be free of him soon." He said. Looking up I was searching for something but for what I wasn't sure yet. He put his forehead protector against mine. "Just promise me that you'll be careful and that you will come back to me." He said softly.
"I promise. That is a promise I'll always keep."
"Don't break this promise, otherwise I would get really lonely in our home." He said with a very soft smile gracing his lips. I didn't get it right away, but when I realised what he meant I answered his smile with one of my own.
"Really?" He nodded once and I kissed him pouring al my feelings in it. He kissed back and we forgot the world for a few seconds. When we parted I hugged him once again. "I love you." Then I had to let go as he ordered me to come right away. Hearing an I love you too, I parted with the Shinobi Allied force glad that I could get the information to them in time.
