Jean and Monique waved as they left the house, "We'll be back in a few hours. The fashion show shouldn't take too long. We'll be back before dinner tonight."
"Bye," the Wegos said in unison.
"Have fun, ladies," Ron grinned.
Shego nodded her head at the two women.
Kim frowned slightly, disliking that she'd be without Monique. She needed to talk to the girl about what she'd heard at the club before, but now she'd have to wait till later, and later might be too late.
As soon as the door closed, the two boys made a mad dash for the TV, fighting over the remote and what channel they'd be watching while Shego made breakfast.
The green skinned woman went for the kitchen, and right before Kim offered, said, "Beat the eggs."
"Excuse… me?" the redhead asked, a little confused. She was used to being brushed off when it came to cooking.
"Beat the eggs. You can crack eggs into a bowl and mix them right?" she asked with a slight snort.
Kim huffed indignantly, "Of course I can."
"Remember, we want the egg whites and the yolk, no shell," Shego smirked.
"Oh, ha-ha."
As the two set about working on their tasks, silence fell over the room. Both wanted to say something, but after the kiss and after the Daniel thing, neither knew what to say to the other. The longer the silence dragged on, the more the two thought of what happened and both withdrew farther from talking things out.
When Kim finished beating the eggs she set the bowl down and said, "Well, can't do much else in the kitchen unless I want to burn something. I'll just go hang with the guys," before disappearing out the door.
Shego released a pent up breath. She berated herself slightly for putting them in such an awkward situation. Then she went back to work.
"What do you think is going to go down tonight?" Kim asked in a hushed whisper, trying to keep her voice quieter than the TV.
The blond boy shrugged, "I dunno. It's weird though. He's her ex or whatever right? Why would she go back to him if he was such a jerk?"
"I don't know and that's what's eating away at me. She acted like she hates his guts, but then last night they were talking so civilly and I just don't know how to take that." Kim bit her nail in frustration.
"Well why don't you just snoop around tonight? Maybe if you follow Shego you'll figure out what's going on," the Wegos suggested.
Kim nodded her head, "That's what I was planning to do, but I'm still confused about what's going on."
The three boys shrugged. They were curious as well, but they knew asking Shego about it was out of the question unless they wanted to possibly lose their hair to plasma.
Monique quickly ran into her house and retrieved two boxes which she'd kept safe. What was inside each were her own creations, she couldn't dare let anything harm it.
She then rushed back outside and hopped into the passenger seat of Jean's car where they then sped over to Jean's work. She grabbed two boxes as well and placed them in the backseat before hopping back in the car.
From there they continued their trek back to the beach.
Kim watched Shego out of the corner of her eye all day, but the villain didn't seem to be doing anything strange. They went to the beach, had lunch, watched a movie, and then played games.
They were in the middle of a very aggravating game of Monopoly when Jean and Mo returned. They said a quick hello before rushing up the stairs to put the boxes in their room and then joined the others.
The two girls easily lightened the deadly Monopoly mood when they started talking about the nonexistent fashion show they 'attended.'
Then dinner rolled around and they went out to eat. That's when things got a little interesting.
"I'll be excusing myself tonight. There's something I have to do," Shego said simply near the end of their meal.
"What'll you be doing?" the Wegos asked with grins on their faces, hoping it was something fun they could join in on.
She glared at them dangerously, "That's none of your business, you two."
"Can I know?" Kim asked hesitantly.
Shego looked her dead in the eye, "It'd be best if you didn't." She left it at that and then paid for the bill.
They went back to the house in silence from there. Jean and Monique couldn't do anything about the mood then. It was definitely tense. They just had to hope that what they were helping Shego with would go well.
When they'd made it inside, Shego went to talk with Jean and received one of the boxes, leaving with it.
Kim followed Shego and watched as she entered the club again, walking straight past the bouncer. The club had yet to open so no one was waiting to get in.
The redhead went back to the house from there and immediately told Monique everything that'd happened and why she was confused and concerned.
Monique held up a hand at one point, "Hold up, girl. You want to go into Daniel's club to find out what's going on?"
"Yes, something's up, and I'm not letting Shego fall into one of Daniel's traps again. She's so much better than that… deserves so much better than that."
Monique nodded. "Well, you might have a problem getting in."
"Why's that?" Kim asked quizzically. I can beat my way inside.
The chocolate skinned woman rolled her eyes, "Sure you can, but there's an easier way."
"Easier way?"
"While Jean and I were coming back we saw some flyers posted around the place. Apparently Daniel's club is doing a masquerade night."
"So I just have to dress fancy and wear a mask and I'm in?" the hero asked with a cocked eyebrow.
"I know it's not your elaborate fighting through death traps sort of mission, but yeah, that's what you have to do."
"I don't have a dress though, or a mask. Where would I get those on such short notice?"
The hero's best friend grinned and pulled out one of the boxes, "Ok, so Jean and I may not have been going to a fashion show today."
Kim opened the box and saw her dress from the Go's annual gala. "Monique… how did you know I'd be needing this…?"
"I talked with Jean after Shego talked to her, and it had to do with Daniel's club… and so she and I went out to talk about it outside the house without eavesdroppers and we saw some flyers about it. We figured you'd be following Shego where she went tonight, and if it was Daniel's, you'd need an outfit."
Kim through her arms around her best friend, "Thank you SO much!"
"Anything for my girl," Monique grinned.
Kim immediately went back to her and Shego's room and changed into her dress. She put the finishing touch on by putting on her mask and then was out the door and on her way to the club.
Ron and the Wegos seemed confused and wanted to go, but then they realized they didn't have any suits and wouldn't be able to get in. They resigned themselves to staying home and watching TV.
A few minutes later, Monique and Jean came down the steps. Monique was in the same blue dress as before, and Jean was in a vibrant orange dress that she would've worn to the gala if she was able to go.
The boys then realized that the two women had set this whole thing up and asked for the details later, which the two promised with grins on their faces. Then they were off as well, hopefully far enough behind that more people would enter the club and they'd be less likely to be noticed by Kim. Shego knew they'd be there, that was the plan after all.
Kim made it inside without a problem. The bouncer let her in without a second thought, even after he saw her ID. He was only checking for the age, which was all he was paid to look at.
She stepped into the club and was slightly overwhelmed. It felt like she was back at the Go's masquerade all over again. She suddenly wanted to melt into the dark corners of the crowd before some random guy asked her to dance again. She had enough of people thinking they could just touch her.
Right as that thought crossed her mind a hand was on her shoulder and she could hear a man say over the music, "Dance with me!" He was a tall lanky guy and had he not been so forward telling her to dance, and maybe had a little less alcohol on his breath, she might've been inclined to give him one dance. Right now she felt rather repulsed though.
That was when she felt another hand snake around her waist and a familiar voice speaking from beside her, "Sorry, but this one already has a date."
The other guy grumbled and shambled off to find another girl to hit on.
Kim turned to find herself face to face with the green devil.
Grinning her suitor asked, "Care to dance?"
