Author's Note: I am a slow buttface. I know. Sorry for taking so long to update, and sorry there isn't too much going on in this chapter. It's kind of a transition chapter i guess :p to let you guys know what's kinda happening more than anything else. However I'm hoping this helps me get back into writing this and working on it and not taking forever to update. Remember guys, if it's been a long time since i've updated, bother me about it. When someone shows interest, it rekindles my interest and gets me motivated. Hope you guys enjoy :)
"Shego, the phone has been ringing off the hook for you. It's Drew again," Shego's mother said, leaning into the room.
"Tell him to buzz off. I'm not going back to work for him."
Isabel sighed. "You really need to tell me all of his secret lair numbers. That way I can block them all."
"I'll write you a list," she mumbled.
"And after that what will you do? Mope around some more?" her mother asked. "It's been two months already. Go find a job or something and stop lazing about in your room. Even your father is getting worried."
The green skinned woman snorted, "That'd be a first."
"Selene Go! Your father has always cared about you."
"Doesn't show it," she said under her breath.
Her mother frowned and left the room, taking Shego's former employer off of hold and telling him that Shego wouldn't talk to him.
Shego stretched out on her bed and groaned. She had to admit, even she was getting tired of lazing around every day. A job didn't seem like that bad of an idea – but the fact that she would need to find a job that would interest her and hire her with her background made her skeptical.
Sitting up she moved over to her computer, surfing through news sites, wondering what the red headed hero was up to.
"Don't move Drakken!" Kim said as she jumped down from a ledge in the upper part of Drakken's current cave lair.
"Kim Possible!" he shouted in alarm.
"And Ron Stoppable!" her blonde sidekick chimed in, landing with little grace on his back.
The redhead looked around, "Where's Shego?"
The evil scientist immediately began to throw a fit at the mention of his former sidekick. "She quit! Can you believe that?! Just out of nowhere and after two weeks of paid vacation she just up and quits! The nerve of that girl…. I pay her well and everything and she just leaves without a warning. I mean, we've been working together for years, you'd think I'd at least receive a courtesy call or something. It's not fair…" The longer he talked the more he curled up into a ball and pouted in the corner, completely forgetting the reason the heroic duo was there.
Ron looked at Kim and shrugged, moving over to the machine and unplugging it and smashing it up a little here and there.
Kim let him have his fun destroying the device with Rufus while she walked over to the phone hanging on the wall just a few feet away. Right beside it was a notepad with one number written on it. She called over her shoulder, "Shego's number?"
Drakken sniffled and began to rant about Shego again, but more to himself than to anyone else.
She dialed the number and after three rings she heard the green skinned villain answer with an annoyed sigh, "Damn it Drakken, would you quite calling! Seriously, my mom is throwing a hissy fit that you're now ruining dinner. This is the fifth time you've called in an hour. I told you, I quit, and that is that." Then she was hung up on.
Kim blinked in surprise. She redialed.
Shego answered again, "Drakken, sto-"
"Shego…?"
"Princess? What are you doing at Drakken's place?"
"Well… we came to destroy his doomsday device… but I asked where you were and he just kind of curled up in a ball and started mumbling to himself."
"Oh yeah, he can get like that. Just leave him to pout and he'll bounce back in a day or two."
After a few moments of silence Kim asked, "So you quit?"
Shego let out a long breath before responding, "Yeah. I figured that if there was ever a chance we could talk again, I mean, in person and without fighting, I'd have to stop being evil."
Kim frowned. "Shego… even if you stop working for Drakken, you're still a wanted criminal."
"I know. That's something I can't really fix unless I go to jail, and that's not something I plan to do any time soon. Sorry Princess, but if I did that, I'd have to serve my full sentence, and then I'd never get to talk to you again. I've accumulated at least two lifetime's worth of jail time."
The hero was about to respond when she heard Shego's mom in the background, "Selene, tell whoever that is that you're having dinner and to call back later."
Shego groaned, "Sorry, I have to go."
Before Kim could say a goodbye, her arch-enemy hung up. The redhead looked at the phone for a while before Ron interrupted her.
"I finished destroying the device. Time to head home, right?"
"Yeah… time to head home."
"Who was that on the phone, sweetheart?"
"Just Kimmy."
"What? You should have told me! I would've wanted to talk to her," huffed Hego.
"I apologize for not thinking of you when she was calling to talk to ME," Shego replied. She smirked when she saw his frown increase a little.
"So, you're going to start looking for a job right?" her father asked.
Shego poked at her food with her fork a bit before replying, "I'm thinking about it. I'm not sure what I'd do. I don't need to work for money, so the pay isn't an issue. I just need to find a place that would hire someone like me and has work that interests me."
"Oh, I know! MY friend has a ski resort up in Canada and he needs some help running it while his father is bedridden due to an accident. If I talk to him I'm sure he'll listen to ME and hire you," Mego said.
Shego was about to quip at him, but stopped. It didn't sound like that bad of an idea. She needed a job, and a place far away from the outside world surrounded by snow sounded like a great place to work. She could distract herself by snowboarding after work.
"Mego, that'd be a wonderful idea. I'd be grateful to YOU if YOU'D help me get this job," she said, making sure to stress his importance.
He puffed out his chest slightly and said with a grin, "No problem, just leave it to ME. I'VE got this."
Shego smiled. There was no way her brother would let her down after promising something. He always talked big, but he always came through in the end as well.
Hopefully with the job she'd be able to forget about her family, Drakken, and, most importantly, about Kim.
A/N: Soooooo, what'd you guys think? Let me know, I love to hear feedback :D and don't forget, if it's been forever since I last updated, remind me :p thanks :D
