It had been months since the Vargas brothers came to Roderich's home. Lovino gave up. He had lost track of the days he had been here. He had given up on waiting for Antonio. The only thing that kept Lovino going was the possibility of seeing his brother out of the window.
Lovino slept soundly. It was a clear night. It was the kind of night to go stargazing. The moon was a sliver of a crescent. It was a gentle peaceful night. The earth was still with slumber.
But there was movement in the shadows.
Movement that was going to disrupt the night peace.
Lovino woke up to running footsteps and shouting voices in the hall. He had no clue what was happening. The Italian just stayed in bed listening to the commotion.
It sounded like things were getting worst.
Then everything got quiet.
Real quiet.
It was unsettling quiet.
Lovino stared at the door. The doorknob was trying to turn. Whoever was trying to get in didn't have the key. The door shook as someone banged on it. Whoever it was they wanted in.
After much persistent banging the door finally gave in.
A figure all in black with a cloth black mask over his eyes stood in the doorway.
It was too dark for Lovino to see who it was. The figure was too lean to be one of Roderich's goons. Who was that?
"I've found you."
Lovino was frozen in his spot as the figure approached him.
"Mi amigo."
Lovino's eyes widen as he realized who the masked figure was. "You bastard. What the fuck took you so long?"
"Now's not the time. We need to hurry. We're running out of time." Antonio grabbed Lovino's wrist dragging him out of bed and into the hall.
Unconscious bodies were slumped on the floor. Some bodies had blood trickling from thin cuts. It was then Lovino noticed the thin sword Antonio had. Lovino didn't know what to make of Antonio at that moment.
"Feliciano."
"Don't worry. He's safe." Antonio and Lovino turned around the corner headed to a staircase, only to stop short. A raging fire was burning up the staircase. There was no way for the two to get down the stairs.
Lovino froze. Memories of the fire when he was a kid came back. He was scared. Afraid of losing his brother again.
"Shit. It spread faster than planned." Antonio turned back still pulling Lovino around.
Lovino snapped out of it. "You started the fire? Great plan."
"It wasn't suppose to spread that fast."
"It's a fire. It does what it wants." Lovino huffed. "What's plan B? Jumping out a window?"
Antonio stopped short at a window. Outside the window was a tree. "Actually, si."
Lovino looked at the window and then Antonio. "No. No, I wasn't serious. You're not getting me jumping out a window. Do you know how high was are?" Lovino crossed his arms across his chest.
Antonio opened the window and busted the screen out. "Alright, if you won't jump," he picked up the younger male, "then I'll toss you."
"No. Antonio, don't you dare."
But it was too late to protest. The Spaniard had tossed the Italian out the window and into the tree. Antonio followed into the tree. The tree didn help break the fall from the window to the ground. On Lovino's less than graceful fall hit a number of branches and landed on the ground with an "oooff." Antonio had a little more grace to him.
"Are you okay?" Antonio leaned over Lovino.
"You threw me out a window into a tree and I fell out of the tree. How the hell do you think I am?" He pressed his lips together and glared at Antonio.
Antonio smiled at his friend. Antonio's smiled vanished in an instant. He head whipped around. There were sirens in the distant. They had to get out of here. The Spaniard grabbed Lovino's wrist again and dragged him along.
"Wait. Feli."
Antonio led the way down the hill. At the bottom of the hill was an unmarked black van. The Spaniard opened the sliding door and tossed Lovino in. He got in after slamming the door closed. "Vayamos." He said to the driver. The driver took off.
"Lovi!"
He looked at the backseats. Feliciano sat back there between two people. On his right sat a person with a black bandana that was pulled over his and over his eyes. Two eyeholes were cut into the fabric. He pulled the bandana off to reveal white hair. "That was awesome."
The other masked person in the back had a molded black mask with rhinestones around the eyes. His blond hair was pulled back into a ponytail. "Just like old times," Françis said as he took off his mask and pulled the hair elastic out.
Lovino looked at Antonio who had taken off his cloth mask. "I told you Feli was safe."
The driver was also masked. Lovino wasn't sure who the driver was, but Antonio and his friends knew the driver.
