Lumen Invenit Emptio: The Wyvern Arrives Part XIX

As always all characters are fictional. Wyvern, Deus, and Reaver are my characters. All other characters/locations are copyright of DC Comics and their respective creators.

"Diana, what are you doing?!" Kara was shocked that CJ's mother was holding him in the Lasso of Truth.

"I want to know everything that's been happening thisavros." Diana's tone was one that had CJ smirking, he'd heard it before due to various misadventures. (Alfred almost had a coronary when CJ found out that his dad's early smoke bombs left behind an ashen residue.)

"What's so funny?" Now she sounded suspicious, her son should be at least somewhat ill at ease.

"I suppose it's too late to forewarn you, but I'm immune to the Lasso of Truth." he was definitely not revealing what was behind that little skill.

"Tell me what's been happening with you since I've been in Themyscira." Diana's tone was the same as when she was questioning anyone bound by the Lasso.

"You sure you don't want to join us for brunch? I can make pancakes, waffles, bacon and eggs?" Diana's eyes were wide as CJ ignored her order.

"We can't do pancakes, we're out of whipped cream." Kara was being honest, then the statement she just made registered and she slapped her hands over her mouth as she blushed deeply.

"まあ、私に女性をからかう停止!" CJ growled as he made a grab for Kara, who smartly avoided his grasp.

"Did you and Kara have sex last night?" Kara's squeak and deeper blush made Diana turn her gaze back to her impassive son.

"No, we didn't have sex last night. Now please take the Lasso off, it's not going to work mitera." Even though Diana felt the truth of his last few words, she couldn't believe it.

"What color are your eyes?"

"Seriously mitera, you're trying that? Come join us for brunch and if Kara feels comfortable, we can talk about this more." The frantic shaking of Kara's head was as close to a 'No fucking way!' as she could currently get.

"I want answers thisavros." Diana scowled.

"Then please ask for them instead of resorting to attempts to force them by way of the Lasso of Truth. I didn't like it when I was in school, I detest it now."

Kara was beyond uncomfortable, not only had Diana crashed their morning after what was possibly the most amazing night of her life, now she felt like she was under a microscope.

"Please at least tell me you used protection." Diana's voice was like an artillery shell of embarrassment and actually made her blush even more.

"Yes, because given my lineage I'm the epitome of carelessness." CJ's smart-ass quips were not helping the situation at all.

"Before you make a comment on my comments mitera, think about how you would feel if grams put you through the same scenario." Diana bristled slightly, more from her son's tone and attitude than from the actual words.

"As your mother I have the right to show concern for what goes on in your life. You may be a grown man thisavros, but, you're still my child." the steel in her voice was a stark contrast to the softness in her eyes.

"You're concern is touching mitera, Lasso of Truth or Dare… not so much." Kara snorted before she could stop herself, her lover's comments bringing a smile to her face despite the potential for this to blow up in their faces.

"Fine, if you're not going to be nice to your poor, dear mother." Kara paled as Diana turned and faced her fully.

"I'll just have a heart to heart with my future daughter." CJ bit his tongue as he looked at Kara. Try as he might, her going from blushing to pale and back reminded him of a candy cane. Diana's head snapped around at the flood of emotion from her son.

"What, pray tell, brought that on thisavros?" Kara was glad that he could adopt a face that would put a statue to shame. Diana's gaze shifted back to Kara and saw a blush that seemed to creep up from her neck to the top of her head.

Diana banished CJ from the room when he refused to answer her questions. Once he was gone she turned to Kara.

"Okay, before anything else is said I want you to know that your son is the most important thing to me and I will not be leaving under any circumstances. If this means I'm no longer welcome on Themyscira, so be it." The words had tumbled from her lips in a rush and her blush had died down as her confidence rose. Kara didn't know what to expect, but, being enveloped in a hug wasn't one of them.

"I'm glad you're able to make him happy Kara, I truly am." As they moved apart Diana's face grew serious.

"But, if you ever hurt thisavros, I will hunt you down." Kara smiled at that, she knew Diana would make this vow to protect her son.

"I can respect that, but you don't have to worry about that Diana. I love CJ, there is no way that I would knowingly hurt him… not after." she froze as her blush returned with a vengeance. Diana discreetly toed the lasso around Kara's foot, hoping that it would be enough.

"So, how was last night?" the grin that suffused Kara's face let Diana know that her hope was rewarded.

"Oh Rao Diana, it was perfect."

"Really, how long did your celebration go?" Diana was doing her best to keep her emotions from fluctuating too greatly and alerting CJ.

"It was a little over three hours and the first hour he made all about me. He was so gentle for my first time that he made it feel… magical." Diana couldn't mask her pride at her son being the gentleman (Alfred would be proud of the PG version) even though he'd had his first experience there as well. She'd have to make sure Aphrodite wasn't planting pointers in her son's head.. Wait.. Mind. In her son's mind.

"So, aside from interrogating my girlfriend, what else do you have to feel embarrassed about mitera?"

"Kara, please open the door." CJ pleaded.

"Go away!" After Diana had left Kara literally flew up to the master bedroom and locked the door.

"Kara, please open our bedroom door, I just want to make sure you're alright." it hit him just after he said it: he hadn't said my bedroom door, he said our bedroom door.

"Deus, open the door." nothing happened.

"Deus, open the fucking door." his calm voice belied the fact that he was about to break through the door in about a minute. When there was no further response he used his last resort, he'd come to the door with lock pick in hand. As he opened the door his eyes immediately found a Kara sized lump under the blankets as he kicked off the sandals he wore in the house. Kara felt the covers pull back on CJ's side of the bed, then she felt him climb in. She tried to scoot away, but, his arm was around her waist pulling her towards him.

"Please just leave me alone." Kara voice was small, her embarrassment evident, and it broke CJ's heart to hear it.

"I'm sorry Kara, I'm so sorry that you were made to feel like that. I didn't think that she'd do something like that." Kara had missed the look on Diana's face, his mother had never meant for things to get so carried away. He could feel that his mother was as embarrassed as Kara was over the whole thing. Despite everything he wanted to say to Kara right then, he felt her starting to relax and her breathing began to even out.

"Sleep love." Just before he started to nod off himself, CJ took off his shirt and moved to change into a pair of sleep pants when he felt Kara's hand on his arm.

"Please stay?" He smiled as he managed to get changed without leaving the bed.

Kara paled as she opened the door a few days later, CJ was at the Wayne Manor helping Bruce upgrade things in the Batcave.

"Diana, um… CJ's at his dad's office." she was just starting to forget the whole Lasso incident.

"I know, I actually came here to apologize. I didn't realize how badly that would effect you. I never meant to push either you or thisavros so hard on this. I should have been happy for your both and I ended up ruining it." CJ had told her that they both had spoken after he felt the mix of guilt and shame from Diana over the ordeal.

"I should have taken some time and gotten some sleep, but, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was happening with you two and I was so scared that I may have ruined it with my actions." Kara was actually touched that Diana was apologizing just for being a mother.

"You know I don't blame you. It can't be easy finding out you have a grown son that shows up one day. I know my parents always treated me like I was their little girl in the memory crystals." Diana was glad that she had a sympathetic ear. She'd tried to talk to her mother about her feelings, but, Hippolyta had raised her from infancy to adult. CJ had arrived right after Reaver, fully matured and already burdened with a pain that went so deep she feared that he'd never be able to excise it. Sensing her silence had more to do with the greater picture of what was happening with her lover than she was letting on, Kara opened the door a little wider.

"Why don't we sit down and talk, I could make us some tea." Diana smiled

"Thank you… thygatera."
