Dave looked through the cabinet in the bathroom, one hand holding him up as he leaned onto the counter, and the other holding a wrapped-in-a-towel ice pack up to his eye. He scowled as he recalled what had happened, thinking that the entire situation was stupid in the first place. Some guy in Dave's year, along with some of his posse, encountered Dave as he was making his way home from school, trying to just avoid anyone in the first place. Apparently Dave's "bad attitude" was quite annoying to them, and felt the need to make that known. In the long run, they broke Dave's shades, gave him a black eye, and probably some bruised ribs.

Dave glanced downwards onto the counter, seeing the broken shade frames sitting there with little pieces of glass near it, and scowled. That's some expensive shit. He sighed, shutting his visible eye somewhat angrily. Not only was a beaten up fairly bad, but his shades were broken and he was sure that Bro would be pissed. 'Today is just a lovely day, isn't it,' he thought to himself.

He took the wrapped ice pack off his eye, shutting the cabinet to look at the damage on his face. His skin surrounding his eye was a dark purple, some of it hitting the bone for his eyebrows. Dave sighed, shaking his head. "No luck in finding anything for your eye. What are you going to do now, Dave?" he asked his reflection, staring down his own red eyes. After waiting a moment and receiving no answer (though he was slightly thankful his reflection didn't talk to him), Dave walked into his room, leaving the ice pack on the counter and the bathroom and bedroom door open. Dave flicked on his fan, relishing in the feel of the cool air working it's way through the room as he plopped onto his bed and stared at the ceiling as he waited for Bro to get home.

Dave was sure that he laid there for a good while, though he didn't know for how long exactly. It felt like forever until Dave heard the clicking of the door unlocking and the heavy footsteps of his older brother walking into the apartment. "Dave, where are ya?" Bro called. Dave sighed, knowing that the injury currently placed on his face was completely obvious and that there wasn't any way he could cover it up with his shades broken. "In my room," Dave answered back, figuring that he may as well get it over with. Bro walked into Dave's doorway, not yet seeing the black eye that rested upon Dave's face.

"Why're you laying down, lil bro? I figured you'd be talking to your friends, or something," Bro said, not letting his confusion slip into his tone. "Nah," Dave responded, sitting up to see Bro. "Felt like laying down." Dave could almost see Bro tense a little at seeing Dave's injury.

"What the hell happened to you?" Bro asked.

"Nothin'," Dave shrugged. "Just some guys at school."

"Yeah, well," Bro started after a moment, walking over and plopping onto Dave's bed with him, "they better look more banged up than you do."

Dave scoffed at that, knowing that he hadn't been able to lay any blows while he was being held back. "Definitely," he replied, shaking his head. "You should see 'em," he fake boasted, "one guy had a bloody nose, and I think another one had to go to the hospital." Dave knew that trying to fool Bro wouldn't work out in the long run, but hey, it was worth a shot, right? Apparently though, Dave hadn't been able to phase him, as he saw Bro looking stern when he glanced at him.

"Not working, huh?" Dave asked him, seeing Bro shake his head. Dave shrugged after a moment of not receiving an answer, and simply stared at his ceiling. "Doesn't matter," he said after another moment. "Besides, I try not to make a big deal about it. It'll probably happen again tomorrow or the day after that. Plus," he started to add, "school's almost out for the summer. Then I'll get a whole two months of peace."

"From them maybe," Bro said after thinking over a decision. "Then you'll have to deal with me."

"What do you mean?" Dave asked, almost not wanting to know the answer.

"Well," Bro started, "over the summer while they're gonna probably be stuffing their faces and playing video games all day, you'll be training to kick their asses for next semester. With me."

Bro smirked, seeing almost instantly how shocked and irritated Dave looked all at once. "What?!" Dave exclaimed. "But I was gonna finally get out of Texas for the summer, you can't do that!"

"Sorry little dude," Bro smirked, standing up from his spot on the bed. "I'm your guardian, and what I say goes. So start getting ready for the next two months of training."

Bro walked out of the room, leaving Dave on the bed to sigh angrily as Bro shut the door, somewhat snickering and thinking, 'He'll learn.'

A/N; So sorry for not updating like, at all guys! A LOT has been going on, and I just haven't had any motivation or inspiration for writing lately. I'm trying, I really am, but I do have a life. School, family, friends, therapy, psychiatry, medicine, etc etc.
