2 days off so hopefully another update tomorrow!

Dani POV

I had finally flown back to New York again after 3 weeks in LA. My first single from the new album was due out in a week and I was absolutely exhausted. I ended up having to stay in LA for a few extra days so it's already Tuesday and my flight was way too early in the morning. Santana wanted to take the day off to pick me up but with the number of paps that camp out at the airport, I figured it would be easier to make my own way home. I decide to send her a quick text to let her know I made it safely.

To: Santana
Hey babe, in a cab on my way home, so tired! What time do you think you'll finish?

It's only a few minutes later that I get a response

From: Santana
I took the day off so I'm at home now ;)

I grin to myself knowing I'll get to see her sooner rather than later. Once I'm on our floor, I bypass my apartment and head straight to hers. When I open the door I'm met with Santana and Bailey holding up a sign with my name on it and another one that says Welcome Back.

I shut the door and leave my bags, rushing straight over to them. I pick Bailey up and hug him and then walk in to Santana's waiting arms.

"You guys are the cutest!"

We stand there for not even 30 seconds before Bailey is wriggling to get out.

"Hey little worm, you wanna get down?"

"Yes please!" I put him down and he grins at me. Santana has wrapped her arms around me from behind and is resting her head on my shoulder.

"Did ya miss me?" I ask him to which he nods in response.

"I missed you too. Lots and lots." He grins and then runs off to play with his toys.

"Okay byeee" I say jokingly

"You know how fickle he is." Santana says over my shoulder. I turn around in her arms.

"Why aren't you at work?" I ask raising my eyebrow at her.

"I wanted to see you" She pouts slightly, looking at me with the biggest puppy dog eyes.

"Oh really?" I say with a smirk.

"Yep! Besides, Bailey wanted to make a sign for you like we did when we picked up my parents from the airport, even if we didn't actually get to the airport."

"Well as much as I would have loved that, I got bombarded at the airport on the way out of LA and on the way in."

"The world just loves you as much as I do" I say proudly

"You love me the same as everyone else?"

"I might love you a little bit more" She says as if she's thinking it over.

"I guess that will have to do" I say in response before leaning in to kiss her. This is the first kiss we've shared in over a week and it starts off sweet, but quickly becomes heated. When we pull apart, our foreheads leaned together, we simply stare in to each other's eyes and I'm overcome with the most spectacular feelings.

"Welcome back beautiful" Santana says.

"Maybe I should go away more often if I'm gonna get that" She grips tighter to me so I can't move.

"Absolutely not. You're not going anywhere."

"Mmkay" I say contentedly while pecking her lips.

She pulls me to the living room and we sit on the couch together. Well Santana sits, I lay with my head in her lap. She's stroking my hair and I know it won't be long before I fall asleep.

Santana POV

Dani has long since fallen asleep and is softly snoring in my lap. I've put Frozen on for Bailey again and he's lying on the floor watching it. I took the day off today saying I had to go to the airport. To be honest, I don't think anyone was too worried about it and I told them they could call me if they needed me. I check my email on my phone to see if anything important has come through when I see an email that shocks me.

The subject reads: Congratulations on making it to the final round of…

What the hell? There's got to be some mistake.

I open it up to find that it's definitely addressed to me and it appears that apparently someone has nominated me for the employee recognition program that the firm runs every year. I'm somewhat confused as most of the winners from previous years have been associates and paralegals. They're the ones that put their blood, sweat and tears in to every day and end up nominating each other. I was up for the award when I was interning but was beaten by a slimy guy that used to work for the firm. He ended up getting fired for sexual harassment. That thought makes me realise exactly what's going on.

I close my emails and start dialling her direct line. The phone rings a couple of times before someone picks up.

"Lauren Adams speaking"

"What the hell did you do?" I say. There's a pause as she tried to figure out who's calling before she answers.

"I'm good thank you Santana, how are you doing today?"

"Laur, what did you do?" I hear her moving followed by a door closing.

"Nothing. I nominated a model employee for an award that she deserves and clearly other people agree with me."

"How am I supposed to leave if I win? You told me to wait a week."

"Maybe I underestimated the wait, more like 2 weeks."

"Not the point! I can't be nominated for something that involves a large cash bonus just to quit the following day." I realise how loud I'm being when I hear Dani groan in her sleep then snuggle back in to me. I run my hand through her hair to try and settle her.

"Yes you can. You deserve it. If you win then you get a sum of money that will help with the student loans and you won't need to use Bailey's money. "

"But isn't there some kind of condition about winners still being employed there?"

"Nope, if you are still employed by the company at the time of payment then they can't do anything. The only condition is that you have worked for the company for 6 months minimum."

"I don't know Laur.." I say, feeling unsure.

"It's not like I have a major say in the winner. Yes I'm on the panel, but there are a number of other people that have to okay it. We're not actually doing anything wrong. And you may not even win."

"I guess.." I look down and see Dani looking up at me through tired eyes. I smile down at her.

"Just think of it as compensation for what that asshole did to you." She reasons.

"Let's just see how it plays out" I sigh

"Sounds like a plan. Are you in today, I haven't seen you?" She asks.

"No, Dani got back today so B and I stayed home." I look down and see Dani open her eyes again at the sound of her name.

"Awww you guys are adorable." I roll my eyes slightly embarrassed knowing that I'm blushing.

"Yeah yeah.. whatever." Dani looks at me questioningly so I shake my head smiling.

"Did you speak to your parents about the weekend away?"

"No, I'll ask when I drop Bailey off tomorrow morning. I'm sure they'll be fine to watch him though."

"Well hurry up, it's only a few weeks away!" She says sounding excited.

"I will. I gotta go, Bailey is in need of some lunch so I can put him down for his nap."

"Okay, I'll see you tomorrow?"

"Yep definitely! Hey Laur?

"Yeah?"

"Thanks."

"Anytime. Bye Tana"

"Bye."

When I hang up the phone, Dani sits up and I can tell she is curious as to what the conversation was about.

"I'll tell you in a minute. Go back to sleep, I'm gonna make some lunch" I say kissing her cheek and standing up.

I get in to the kitchen and start preparing some sandwiches for Bailey when I feel her wrap her arms around me and nuzzle in to my back.

"I should take my stuff home and have a shower. If I sleep all day, I won't sleep tonight."

I turn around and raise my eyes suggestively at her.

"It's been over a week, that's definitely not a bad thing."

"Very funny. You need to be up early tomorrow to drop Bailey off anyway."

"The exhaustion would be totally worth it." I say grinning.

"You say that now but your grumpy self would disagree tomorrow." She pecks my lips.

"You make it sound like I'm not getting ANY tonight" I say pouting.

"You know I can't resist you. " She kisses me again. "But, if I can avoid tired grumpy Santana, I will do my best so we can just have an early night."

"Deal!" I kiss her cheek.

"Okay, I'm gonna go, I'll be back in a few hours"

"A few hours?" I say incredulously.

"Yes, a few hours. I have to shower and do some washing. I've barely done any laundry while I've been away."

"You've been gone for weeks and now you're leaving me for hours again?" I say childishly.

"Yes dork, but I will be back and we can spend the whole night together. I'll even make you dinner."

"You've never made me dinner!" I exclaim excitedly

"Yes I have! I make dinner all the time." She retorts.

"Sandwiches and takeout don't count." I laugh.

"Whatever. Prepare to be blown away by my amazing skills."

"I'm holding you to that." She kisses me softly then starts to leave the kitchen heading for the front door.

"Love you, I'll be back soon"

"I love you too" I shout, knowing she heard me before she's out the front door.
