Chapter 16: White Fang

Teams RWBY and VAND walked through Vale, calling out the names of their missing comrades. Deveraux put two fingers in his mouth and whistled like he was calling a dog. "Here Victor! Here boy!" Deveraux called, most of the group thinking he was mocking Victor. "Do you really have to call him like that? It was Weiss calling him a dog that got her on his bad side in the first place." Yang pointed out. Alexi answered "No that's legitimately how he calls Victor and it works."

"Oh… well whatever works."

Dev pulled out his scroll and updated "Looks like SNTL is on the hunt with us. Grey and Nabuya are one group while Kris and Kira are the other group. The wolves are sniffing out Big Vic's scent." Ruby turned and crossed her arms, exclaiming "At least someone is trying to help us." Ruby's irritated look was directed at Weiss, who hadn't done much other than walk around with them. "Oh! You know who might be able to help? The police." Weiss stated as she placed her hands on her hips. Dev sighed "I think it'll be easier to find the two if we split up."

Nigel muttered "And since Weiss is set on being unhelpful. Good day ladies." Team VAND walked off, calling for their leader while Team RWBY stood and watched them go. "Well, there goes half of our group." Yang exclaimed as she crossed her arms. "It was just an idea." Weiss defended. "Yeah, a bad one." Ruby exclaimed as she turned and started walking deeper into the town.

"Weiss, I think we should hear her side of the story before we jump to any conclusions." Yang exclaimed as she followed Ruby. "You mean like she's a criminal? And that Victor is just some White Fang brute? Once we hear it, you'll all realize I was right!" Weiss responded as she followed Yang. "And I think Weiss' hair looks wonderful today!" Penny exclaimed as she followed Weiss. Everyone turned in surprise as Ruby barked "Aaah! Penny! Where did you come from?"

"Hey guys! What are you up to?"

Ruby stammered while Yang answered "We're looking for our friends, Blake and Victor." Penny seemed like she had a moment of realization as she stated "Oh! You mean the Faunus girl!" The group looked at Penny with raised eyebrows as Ruby questioned "Wait, how do you know that?" Penny pointed to her head and responded "Uhh, the cat ears?" Yang chuckled "What cat ears? She wears a… booooohhh…"

An uncomfortable silence filled the area as a wind blew a tumbleweed though the streets. Ruby whispered "She does like tuna a lot…" Penny broke the silence and responded "So, where are they?"

"We don't know, they've been missing since Friday."

Penny gasped "That's terrible!" She approached Ruby, horribly violating her personal space, and exclaimed "Well, don't you worry Ruby, my friend! We won't rest until he friend your friends!" Ruby gave her best fake smile and replied "Uh, that's really nice of you, Penny, but we're okay! Really! Right guys?" Ruby looked around Penny to see that Yang and Weiss had disappeared, leaving Ruby alone with Penny. Another wind blew, sending another tumbleweed through the streets.

Penny stated "It sure is windy today!"

Blake, Sun and Victor walked down the street, discussing their next move. Sun questioned with his hands behind his head "So, what's the plan now?" Blake responded "I still don't believe the White Fang is behind these robberies. They've never needed that much Dust before." Sun's eyes widened, as if he had an epiphany, and questioned "What if they did?" Victor crossed his arms and questioned "What are you talking about?"

Sun moved ahead of them and walked backwards as he explained "I mean... the only way to prove that they didn't do it, is to go to the place where they would most likely go to if they were to do it, and not find them there! Right?" Victor scratched his chin and replied "Somehow, that messed up logic makes sense… but where would we even begin to look?"

"Well, while I was on the ship, I heard some guys talking about offloading a huge shipment of Dust coming in from Atlas."

Blake immediately questioned "How huge?"

"Huge. Big Schnee Company Freighter."

"Are you sure?"

"Positive."

Victor sighed "Well, at least we have an idea. Let's get going."

Yang and Weiss exited a shop, Yang exclaiming "Thanks anyway!" She turned and started walking down the street, sighing "This is hopeless." She looked up to see Weiss looking around nonchalantly, like she didn't have a care in the world. Yang stated "You really don't care if we find them, do you?" Weiss turned and replied "Don't be stupid; of course I do. I'm just afraid of what they'll say when we find them."

Weiss turned and continued walking, calling over her shoulder "The innocent never run, Yang!" Yang followed Weiss, looking at the ground in thought.

Ruby and Penny walked down the street, on the search for their missing friends. Penny questioned "So, Blake is your friend?" Ruby sighed, as if the question was redundant, "Yes, Penny."

"But you're mad at her?"

"Yes. Well, I'm not. Weiss is."

"Is she friends with Blake?"

"Well, that's kinda up in the air right now…"

Penny had a look on her face that seemed like she was thinking really hard. She finally questioned "But why?" Ruby sighed again "Well, you see, Blake might not be who we though she was..."

"Is she a man?"

"No! No, Penny. She's…"

Ruby stopped for a moment, looking at the ground in thought before turning back to Penny. Ruby exclaimed "I don't know what she is. She didn't exactly talk to us before she decided to run off." Penny admitted "I don't have a lot of friends, but if I did, I would want them to talk to me about things."

"Me too…"

They continued to walk until they crossed paths with another duo; Grey and Nabuya. Grey greeted "What up short stack? Who's your friend?" Penny greeted "Sal-u-tations! I'm Penny!" Nabuya practically bounced past Grey and greeted "I'm Nobunka Shirayuki! But you can call me Nabuya! Any friend of Ruby's is a friend of mine!" Penny smiled and replied "Nice to meet you new friend!"

The two vigorously shook hands while Ruby questioned "Have you two found any signs of Blake or Victor?" Grey shook her head and replied "Nothing. I'm still trying to sniff out the big guy or kitten."

"You know Blake is…"

"Faunus? Yeah, I've known since day one. You can hid your features all you want, but masking scent is something else entirely."

Nabuya questioned "Blake is Faunus!? How cool is that!? Now we have more Faunus friends!" Penny cheered "Hooray! More friends!" Ruby sighed "Where are they?" Grey simply shrugged and replied "I don't know. This is what Vic gets for getting mixed up with a… *sniff sniff*… I think I've got something." Grey started to take a few steps forward as she sniffed the air.

"Have you found a scent?" Nabuya questioned, still shaking hands with Penny. "Maybe… come on. It's the best lead we have." Grey stated as she slowly moved. The group followed their wolf leader, hoping she could lead them to their missing friends.

Among the darkness of night of the docks and shipping containers, Blake and Victor laid on their stomachs on the top of a building to observe the entire area. Victor whispered "We've been staring at these containers for hours." Blake responded "Just a little longer."

"But we have class in the morning."

Victor looked at Blake, seeing her giving him a look of irritation. "Or… we could stay a little longer." Victor exclaimed as he looked back to the shipping containers. "Thanks for being here… I know you didn't have to come with me. You could have just stayed at Beacon." Blake finally exclaimed, breaking the silence between the two.

"Of course I had to come. I can't let a member of my pack just run off."

"There it is again. You said 'pack' a few days ago when I had my fight with Weiss. What do you mean?"

"I'm a wolf, and wolves run in packs. Granted, most of my pack are just humans, but they are my pack none the less. They are a group of people I care about, so I'm going to do what I can to make sure they are okay. It's what an Alpha does."

Victor reached over and patted Blake's back, assuring her that everything was going to be okay. From behind them, Sun exclaimed "Aaaaaaand kiss each other." The two looked back to see Sun walking up to them. "So did I miss anything?" Sun questioned as he sat in between them. Blake answered "Not really. They've offloaded the crates from the boat. Now they're just sitting there."

"Cool."

Sun handed Victor and Blake each an apple, stating "Stole some food for you guys." Victor groaned "Seriously man?" Blake questioned "Do you always break the law without giving a second thought?" Sun pointed out "Weren't you in a cult or something?" He looked at her to see her giving him an angry look.

"Too soon?"

Victor answered "Way too soon." As soon as Victor finished his statement, the wind started to pick up around the trio. Spot lights lit up the docks as an airship flew in, searching for a landing zone. The Bullhead started to land in a clearing, a ramp opening to allow a black hooded man with a fanged mask to exit the airship. Blake quietly cursed "Oh no…" Sun questioned "Is that them?"

"Yes… it's them."

More soldiers started to exit the Bullhead, the lead soldier ordering "Alright, grab the tow cables!" Sun quietly exclaimed "You really didn't think they were behind it, did you?" Blake sighed and closed her eyes "No. I think deep down I knew. I just didn't want to be right." Suddenly, a new voice shouted "Hey! What's the hold up?" All three of them looked to the Bullhead to see a man that wore a white coat with black pants.

He walked with a cane, even though he could walk perfectly fine. His orange hair hung over one side of his face, blocking an eye while a black hat topped his head. He continued "We're not exactly the most inconspicuous bunch of thieves at the moment, so why don't you animals try to pick up the pace?" Victor questioned "Isn't that Roman Torchwick? The thief wanted for a shit load of charges?" Blake stated "This isn't right. The White Fang would never work with a Human. Especially not one like that."

Blake drew the katana to Gambol Shroud and jumped off the edge of the building, Sun calling "Hey! What are you doing?" Victor drew his axe, Defensor, and growled "Shit. Looks like we might be in for a fight." Victor jumped and went in the opposite direction of Blake, who seemed to be going for Roman. Roman was berating at a White Fang Member who was holding a large coil of rope. He barked "No, you idiot! This isn't a leash!"

Blake snuck up behind Roman, placing her blade against his throat as he cursed "What the- Oh, for f-. " Blake cut off "Nobody move!" The White Fang soldiers raised their weapons at her and Roman, who chuckled "Whoa! Take it easy there, little lady." As the White Fang started moving towards Blake and Roman, Blake reached up and removed her bow, revealing her cat ears. She shouted "Brothers of the White Fang! Why are you aiding this scum?"

The White Fang soldiers lowered their weapons a little, slightly confused at what had developed before them. Roman laughed "Oh, kid, didn't you get the memo?" Blake questioned "What are you talking about?"

"The White Fang and I are going in on a joint business venture together!"

"Tell me what it is or I'll put an end to your little operation."

More wind started to pick up as two more Bullheads flew overhead and Roman stated "I wouldn't exactly call it a little operation." Blake looked up in shock, giving Roman an opportunity to point his cane at the ground and pull a trigger, causing an explosion between him and Blake. Blake hit the ground, slightly dazed but ultimately fine, got up and ran as Roman continued to fire explosive rounds at her. She darted behind a group of containers, Roman taunting "Here kitty, kitty, kitty…" A White Fang solder flew over Roman's head, Victor growling "How about you deal with a wolf?"

Roman turned to see Victor jumping at him with his axe raised over his head. Roman quickly jumped back to dodge the massive axe as it cut into the ground. Victor ripped the axe from the ground and swung his axe, Roman ducking under it with ease. Roman quickly raised his cane and blasted Victor back, sending him flying. Roman turned to give chase to Blake when a banana peel fell on to his face, Roman tearing it off with a growl.

Roman looked up to see Sun jump from the top of a stack of containers, Sun shouting "Leave them alone!" He planted his feet on Roman's face and jumped off of him. One of the airships opened up, dropping a large number of White Fang members that surrounded Sun. Roman commented "You aren't the brightest banana in the bunch, are you, kid?" The White Fang charged him, weapons ready to tear Sun apart when a container flew over his head, slamming into a number of White Fang.

Victor walked with his axe in hand and growled "You're going to have to throw a lot more people at us to take us down." Roman frowned and ordered "What are you sitting around for!? Get them!" The remaining White Fang charged Victor and Sun, who drew a red collapsible staff. Victor took a step forward and swung, taking out three White Fang members and sending them flying. Sun jumped over Victor and brought his staff down on the top of one member's head.

He immediately continued his assault and clocked two more in the side and sent them flying. Victor grabbed on member and started using him as a weapon to beat other White Fang members. "I'LL BEAT A MOTHER FUCKER WITH ANOTHER MOTHER FUCKER!" Victor bellowed as he threw the member at Roman, who simply stepped aside to avoid the member. Roman raised his cane and fired a blast at the two, but Sun spun his staff and dissipated the blast. Blake jumped over the two at Roman, shouting "He's mine!"

Blake charged Roman and was prepared to strike, but she shot back, leaving a shadow of herself to take the blow Roman swung. She flew forward again, clashing weapons with Roman before jumping back and leaving another shadow. This fight went on for a bit before Roman saw an opening and struck Blake, sending her flying. Victor jumped in and snarled "You're gonna pay for that!" Victor swung with his fist, striking Roman in the side of the head, and then caught him with an uppercut to the stomach.

When Roman was in the air when Victor delivered a final punch, sending Roman flying. Roman landed on his back and noticed a container hanging over Victor's head, giving him a devious idea. He raised his cane and fired, blasting the chain on the container and dropping it on top of the wolf Faunus. Victor immediately lifted his arms and caught the container, dropping him to a knee. "You really shouldn't HAVE DONE THAT! Victor bellowed as he slowly brought himself to his feet.

Roman took the opportunity and blasted the canister, slamming Victor to the ground. Once the smoke cleared, Victor was staring down the barrel of Roman's cane, the owner having an evil smile on his face. Just as he was about to fire, a familiar voice called "Hey!" Everyone turned towards the building to see Ruby with Crescent Rose in its scythe form. Roman stepped away from Victor, clearly uninterested in Victor, and laughed "Well, hello, Red! Isn't it past your bedtime?"

Grey and Nabuya jumped past Ruby with their weapons drawn in their ranged form. Grey fired an electromagnetic round and blasted a large hole into a group of White Fang, sending the members flying. Nabuya fired a rocket and did the same thing, landing with her weapon in its kanbo form. Grey landed next to her and cursed "Fuck these White Fang… give the rest of us a bad name." Nabuya went wide eyed and gasped "They're… they're White Fang?"

"Yeah. Is that an issue?"

Nabuya wavered a bit and then laughed "Not. At. All." Nabuya shot forward and slammed her kanbo into the stomach of a White Fang Member, sending them flying into the air. "See you in the next life!" Nabuya laughed as she went for the next White Fang Member. She raised Mr. BOMBastic and slammed it down onto the Member's head, slamming them into the ground. Grey barked as she ran over to Nabuya "What the hell, Nabuya!?"

Nabuya turned to Grey with an evil smile and red eyes, replying "Sorry Wolfy, but Nabuya isn't home. The name is Shiro, now get out of my way." Nabuya/ Shiro pushed passed Grey and swapped Mr. BOMBastic into its rocket launcher form and blasted rounds at the group of White Fang. Grey immediately grabbed Shiro's shoulder and spun her, barking "Cool it bitch! What the fuck is wrong with you!?" Shiro grabbed Grey by her throat and lifted her, snapping "The fuckers destroyed my life… they tore it all apart. But now… now I'm going to tear them apart." Grey lifted her feet and wrapped her legs around Shiro's arm, putting it into an arm bar.

"Let me go or I break the arm." Grey choked. Shiro released the grip on Grey and Grey dropped to her feet and took a few steps away. "Now, where is Bomber's Sonata?" Shiro questioned as she looked around. "There it is." Shiro walked over to the kanbo on the ground and shouldered it. Grey questioned "Bomber's Sonata? You mean Mr. BOMBastic?"

"Pfft. That child has no real sense of naming weaponry. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some Fang to tear apart."

"Whoa whoa whoa. Look, they've already started falling back so there is no need to continue-"

"There is every need to kill them! The whole reason I exist is to kill them! Nabuya made me to kill the Fang! And that's exactly what I'm going to do."

Shiro swapped Bomber's Sonata into its kanbo form and charged a group of White Fang. Grey snarled and drew Storm Breaker, intent on protecting the twisted version of her friend. Roman observed the chaos of what was happening and returned his sights to Red, who was staring at the same chaos. "To hell with this…" Roman grumbled as he raised his cane. He fired a round and hit Ruby, sending her flying from view.

Penny immediately looked to Roman with an evil glare and started moving towards the edge. Ruby cried "Penny, wait!" Penny looked back and assured "Don't worry Ruby! I'm combat ready!" The backpack Penny carried opened up and a sword flew out, and then split into twelve swords. She jumped off the roof and began engaging the White Fang with Grey and Shiro. Sun laughed "Is anyone else seeing this!? This is so wicked!"

"Can we focus? Victor took a heavy hit!" Blake snapped as she assessed Victor's injuries. "I'm fine. Just a bump on the head… and back…" Victor groaned as he tried to sit up.

"Back down. I don't need you in anymore pain then necessary."

"Aww, I didn't know you cared."

Victor lifted a hand, holding up the ribbon Blake normally kept on her cat ears. "Snagged your bow. Figured you'd like it back." Victor chuckled as Blake slowly took her bow back. Three more Bullheads flew into view, ready to drop more troops until Shiro quickly swapped Bomber's Sonata to its rocket launcher form and fired a rocket, nailing one of the engines. Grey swapped Storm Breaker into its railgun and fired a round, blasting the engine on the other Bullhead. The last Bullhead landed and provided cover fire while the remaining White Fang members that weren't either unconscious or dead retreated into it, Roman commenting "These kids just keep getting weirder…"

A few hours later, the docks were covered in patrol cars while the students involved in the incident waited on a stack of boxes. They sat in silence until Weiss and Yang approached them, Weiss taking the lead on it. Ruby attempted to intercept by stating "Look Weiss, it's not what you think, she explained the whole thing. See, she doesn't actually have a bow, she has kitty ears and they're actually kind of cute..." Weiss promptly ignored Ruby and went to Blake, who was immediately being defended by Victor. Blake put a hand on Victor's arm, him immediately standing down as she exclaimed "Weiss, I want you to know that I'm no longer associated with the White Fang. Back when I was with the-"

Weiss immediately cut her off "Stop! Do you have any idea of how long we've been searching for you? Twelve hours. That means I've had twelve hours to think about this. And in that twelve hours, I've decided... I don't care." Everyone looked around very confused, Blake repeating "You don't care?"

"You said that you're not one of them anymore, right?"

"No, I-I haven't been since I was younger-"

"Ah-bah-bah-bah-bah! I don't want to hear it. All I want to know is that the next time something this big comes up... you'll come to your teammates. And not…"

Weiss quickly looked to the individuals that weren't part of Team RWBY and finished "Someone else." Blake smiled and replied "Of course." Victor groaned "Well isn't this just a heartwarming moment." Weiss replied "I still don't like you."

"Well I never liked you, so no harm no foul."

Ruby questioned "Hey, wait a minute… where's Penny?" Grey sighed "I don't smell her anywhere. But I think we'll be seeing her again." The now Nabuya cheered "Yay! We'll see our friends again!"

"Nabuya, you and I still need to talk about what happened… not now, but later."

"You got it boss."

Yang exclaimed "Now that we're all buddy buddy again, can we go? I want to sleep for class tomorrow. It is our last day of the semester after all." Everyone was in a group agreement and started heading back to Beacon for a well-deserved rest. "Shit… I should probably let everyone else know that we found you-." Grey exclaimed as she pulled out her scroll. She was cut off as Kris ran around the ambulance and cried "Victor! Are you okay!?" She tackle hugged Victor, who groaned "I'm fine Kris, and where might Kira be?"

Kira emerged from around the ambulance and waved, stating quietly "I'm here." Dev appeared behind her and announced "The rest of Vanguard is here. You better hope Pyrrha doesn't hear about this or she's going to tear you a new one." Kris pouted and replied "No she won't. Nothing else is happening to my Victor." Victor rolled his eyes as he removed Kris from him and stated "I'm fine, seriously. Can we please go now?" Everyone laughed and finally continued their trek back to Beacon.

Chief A/N: So there you have it! One more chapter until we strike for Season 2 in a sense. All I'm allowed to tell you, is it's going to be wicked. Until next time!
