Chief A/N: Well here we are, the end of season 1. I'd like to take a moment to say thanks to our readers, the few that there are. Glad you guys are enjoying reading as much as we are planning and I am writing it.

Chapter 17: Taking a Break

It was that time of the semester, time for the students to take a break between semesters to cool off and see family again. Team VAND were packing and talking about what they were going to do when they got home. "I'm probably going to spend most of my time sleeping" Victor exclaimed as he packed his suitcase. "Don't you do that anyway?" Dev exclaimed as he put his guitar in its case.

"Not just the weekend. I'm talking basically becoming nocturnal."

Nigel jested "So you can stay up and talk to Pyrrha the entire break?" Alexi continued "And tell her how much you love her?" Victor groaned "For dust sake, are you guys going to keep this up until the end of time?"

"At least until you admit that you and Pyrrha are dating."

Victor turned to them and practically bellowed "We! Aren't! Dating!" It was quiet for a few minutes other than Victor's loud panting, until Deveraux stated "But you do have a crush on her." Victor's face turned a little red while his ears lowered a little, replying "Yeah… I'm not very good at flirting." Nigel stated "We've seen, it is very pitiful."

"I can't help it. Whenever I try and flirt I just draw a blank and talk about what we normally talk about."

Alexi joked "Who is on top?" Nigel sighed "Very funny Alexi. Perhaps we shouldn't pester our dear leader any more than we have to." Victor sighed in relief "Thank you…"

"It is just as enjoyable to watch him crash and burn trying to flirt."

"You suck."

Alexi laughed and sighed "Well, it will be nice to see my sister again, even though she is annoying as hell." Nigel turned to his partner and questioned "You have a sister? Why are we just now finding out?"

"Because I didn't want the question coming up?"

"What question?"

Deveraux immediately responded "Is she hot." Victor added "Is she legal." Nigel replied "Ah, I can see why you wouldn't want to share that fact then." Alexi nodded and answered "And the answers are no and no. She looks like me and is 10." Victor responded "Don't worry. I have a 7 year old sister that is like a real tiny version of me. Ears and eyes all."

Deveraux laughed "Seriously? How many of you are there?"

"We're wolves Dev. We're birthed in litters."

"Well, I'm packed and ready. See you guys in a few weeks."

Dev slung his backpack over his shoulder and picked up his guitar case before heading to the door. Dev waved as he walked out, but didn't head straight for the airship dock to head into town. He stopped by Team SNTL's door and knocked as he set his guitar case down. The door opened up to Kristine, who was already packed and ready to go with a wide smile. "You ready to head back home Devy?" Kristine questioned as she shifted her backpack a bit.

From behind Kris, Grey called "Is that Dev?" Kris rolled her eyes as she stepped aside and let Grey through to hug Dev. "Wasn't going to leave without saying goodbye." Dev chuckled as he stepped back to compensate for Grey's near tackle. Grey loosened her hug and replied "I've always hated goodbyes. Makes it seem like we aren't going to see each other again. How about, see you soon." Dev smiled and corrected "See you soon."

Grey smiled, her eyes their usual pink around Dev, and then kissed his cheek before sliding from his grip. Dev was a little stunned by that, until Victor exclaimed "Can you two do that, like, anywhere else?" Grey crossed her arms and stated "Don't you have a girl to fail to flirt with, Mr. Popular?" Victor rolled his eyes and started walking down the hall towards the airship dock. Grey adjusted her back pack and sighed "Well, Victor and I have a flight to catch. See you soon."

Dev continued his smile and replied "See you soon." Grey ran to catch up with Victor, leaving Kris and Dev in the doorway. "You ready to go?" Kris questioned, giving Dev a moment to collect his thoughts. Dev returned to Remnant and chuckled "Yeah, I'm ready to go." The two readied to leave when Kris called into the room "Bye Kira! Bye Nabuya! See you girls in two weeks!"

Nabuya replied "Bye Kris! Have fun!" Kira simply waved since she wasn't a very loud person. Nabuya finished packing while Kira simply laid on her bed. Kira didn't really have anywhere to go, so she talked with Professor Ozpin and she was allowed to stay at the school for the duration of the break. Nabuya finished packing and turned to Kira with a smile, exclaiming "I'm going to miss my best friend while I'm gone." Kira sat up and sat on the edge of her bed and replied with a smile "I'm going to miss you too, Nabuya."

Nabuya walked up to Kira and held her arms out like she wanted a hug, which Kira couldn't refuse from her partner and best friend. Kira stood up and wrapped her arms around Nabuya, who returned the hug with her usual enthusiasm. Then something different happened this time then with the other times they had hugged, Nabuya kissed Kira's cheek. Not like a small friendly peck, but a kiss kiss, like you would with a boyfriend or girlfriend. Kira felt her face light up red as Nabuya pulled away with a small blush on her cheeks.

"I wanted to do that before I left, so I didn't have to wonder all break." Nabuya admitted as she finally released Kira from her arms. Kira opened her mouth and couldn't find the words she was looking for. Sure, Kira liked Nabuya but not in a romantic sort of way but like a friend… or a sister. Kira finally spoke "Nabuya… I… don't know what to say." Nabuya giggled "Yeah, I'm kinda at a loss for words myself."

"No, I mean… I don't feel that way about you."

Nabuya instantly looked even more embarrassed than she did before as she stammered "Oh no. Oh no oh no oh no. Oh dust Kira I am so sorry!" Nabuya paced back and forth as she was basically freaking out about what she had done. Nabuya apologized again "I am so sorry! I thought you were, you know…" Kira immediately responded "No! Nabuya, we've talked about Alexi and me more than me being with any girls. Why would you think I liked girls?"

"Well, you never really flirted with Alexi or tried to get his attention so I thought you were just deflecting."

"I wasn't! I didn't even know you were gay."

Nabuya crossed her arms and answered "I'm not gay, I'm bisexual. There is a difference." Kira raised an eyebrow and questioned "You're bisexual?"

"Yep. I like girls and guys."

"I know what bisexual means, I just didn't know you were."

"Well, I am. Again, I'm really, really sorry about this. Can we… still be friends?"

Kira smiled and replied "Of course we can. I don't want to lose my best friend over something like this." Nabuya smiled and sighed "I'm so relieved. Well, I'll see you in two weeks. Bye Kira." The two shared another hug as Kira replied "Bye Nabuya." Nabuya picked up her bag and left the room, leaving Kira alone for the next two weeks. Kira took a deep breath and sighed "What am I going to do for two weeks?"

Alexi sat in his room for a bit, getting everything set up for the next two weeks. Nigel had already left for his flight so Alexi was the only one left, and he was fine with that since he had to set up the food and water for the Blackhounds that were living under his bed. "Alright boys, you can come out." Alexi called as he took a seat on the edge of his bed, the Blackhound pups emerging from their temporary homes. The pups originally started out roughly 6 inches long and had only black fur. Now they were about a foot long and were starting to grow their plates in and were starting to get big.

During the night, Alexi would take the pups out into the woods to let them play and rough house and do whatever Grimm babies did for fun. What Alexi had observed was that they acted a lot like wolf pups would and stick to the being they perceived as "mother", which was him. The other members of VAND would help out when they could when it came to feeding and watering them, so they got used to them as well. He knew all too well that he couldn't keep them under his bed forever since he knew how big they would get. They started to paw at his thighs, so he reached down and started petting the pups like he always did.

"Okay boys, time to listen up." Alexi called, gaining the attention of the pups. He didn't actually know if the pups were male or female, so he simply stuck with boys since the pups would respond to that. "I'm going to be leaving for some time, so I want you to behave." Alexi exclaimed as if the pups were actually listening to him. "I've given you enough food and water to last you until I get back and a spot in the bathroom to do your business." Alexi continued. He stopped himself and sighed "Like you guys are actually going to do what I say."

He was about to say something else to the pups when he heard Kira question "Who are you talking to?" Alexi looked to the doorway to see Kira with wide eyes staring directly at the pups, who were all looking at her with their heads cocked to the side. "Shit." Alexi cursed under his breath as Kira closed the door. Kira slowly approached the pups and squealed "They're so cute!" Alexi gave her a confused look as she knelt down and let the pups get her scent.

The pups started yipping happily as they jumped on Kira and she started petting and scratching them with a wide smile. "They're… cute?" Alexi questioned nervously as Kira continued to play with the pups. Kira picked one up and she cheered "Just adorable! How long have you been hiding these puppies?"

"Um, a while. Please don't tell anyone about them."

Kira hugged the pup she was holding and replied "I won't. So what are you going to do with them while you're gone?" Alexi was legitimately surprised that Kira hadn't picked up that they were Grimm, but he decided to ignore her moment and went along with it. "I have food and water set up for them while I'm gone." Alexi answered.

"Why don't I look after them? I'll still be here while you're gone so I can feed and water and play with them."

Alexi looked at the time and he really couldn't decline since he was running late. He grabbed his bag and exclaimed "Thanks Kira. I owe you. See you in two weeks!" He gave her a quick hug before nearly sprinting out the door, leaving Kira with the Blackhound pups. She turned back to them with a smile and cooed "Cute little Grimm puppies."

Victor was walking around the airship docks, attempting to find the one he was looking for but instead he found Blake sitting and waiting on a bench. Victor smiled and took a seat next to his feline friend, exclaiming "I'm gonna miss my kitten." Blake rolled her eyes behind her book and replied "You really shouldn't say that out in public. There is a reason I wear the bow."

"Bah, people aren't as bad as you think. Still, gonna miss you."

Blake looked up at the massive wolf berserker and couldn't help but smile at him since he had been a loyal friend. "I'll miss you too Victor." Blake finally admitted. Victor threw his hands into the air and cheered "I knew I could get you to admit it!"

"You are such a dork."

"I don't understand the question."

Blake shook her head and sighed "Have you said goodbye to Pyrrha yet?" Victor slumped forward and groaned "I haven't been able to find her."

"Have you even asked her out yet? You've been crushing on her for a while now."

Victor looked to Blake with a raised eyebrow and questioned "How do you-?" Blake cut off "I've noticed how you've been acting around her. You try to flirt but ultimately fail."

"Isn't that the conversation of the day."

Victor propped elbow on his leg and his head in his hand and groaned "I just can't be flirty with Pyrrha." Blake closed her book and exclaimed "Then don't. Pyrrha likes you for you. How she can see something in a wolf is beyond me." Victor shot her a small glare but he saw the smirk on her face, signaling that she was making a joke. Victor rolled his eyes and grumbled "Still, doesn't help if I can't relay that I like her."

"Well, you have a chance now since Pyrrha is right over there."

Victor nearly jumped from his seat as he followed Blake's finger to see Pyrrha walking through the crowd. Victor's ears perked up as he gave Blake a quick hug and exclaimed "Thanks Blake. See you in two weeks!" He shot from his seat, Blake rolling her eyes and returning to her book as he made his way through the crowd. Victor eventually made it to Pyrrha and picked her up in a surprise hug, cheering "Pyrrha!" Pyrrha laughed as Victor spun and exclaimed "I thought I wouldn't get to say goodbye!"

He finally put Pyrrha down, who replied "I tried stopping by your room earlier but you weren't there. I'm glad you caught me, by the way." Victor smiled and he tried to think of something to say but nothing was sticking in his head. "Tell her she's pretty. Tell her she's a good fighter. Hell, ask her out on a date!" Victor screamed in his head. Instead, Victor asked "So what are you planning on doing back home?" Pyrrha responded "Nothing much. Hoping to relax on the beach and tan a little."

Victor nodded and replied "That sounds fun. Try not to burn too bad. Say, can I get a quick picture with you? This way I can show Mom I made some friends while at Beacon." Pyrrha nodded and responded "Of course." Victor pulled out his scroll and Pyrrha wrapped an arm around his side. He opened the camera and smiled while Pyrrha smiled and threw up the peace sign. Victor snapped the picture and Pyrrha questioned "Can we do a goofy one?"

"Of course."

Victor looked down at his nose while looking like he saw his worst nightmare while Pyrrha stuck her tongue out to the side and while looking like she was smelling something awful. Victor was able to snap the picture before he started laughing. "You look so adorable." Victor chuckled. Pyrrha rolled her eyes and stated "You'd better send those pictures to me."

"Don't worry I will."

"Good. I need to catch my airship. See you in two weeks."

"See you in two weeks."

Pyrrha gave Victor a quick hug around his waist before grabbing her bag and heading to her airship. Victor stood there with a smile on his face, watching her go until Grey questioned "You ask her out yet?" Victor dropped his head and groaned "Is it that obvious?"

"Very. Just a real ladies man, aren't you?"

Grey laughed "I mean, you've got Pyrrha on one arm and Kris on the other, but you've also got Blake too?" Victor rolled his eyes and replied "Hardly. I can't even ask a girl out on a date."

"True. Come on, we've got an airship to catch."

The two turned and started heading towards their dock when Victor caught sight of a very new view; Velvet and Nigel kissing. They seemed to be very deep into the kiss when Victor howled "Hell yeah Nigel! Get some!" The couple broke and both looked horribly embarrassed as Victor laughed "That's my boy!" Nigel scratched the back of his head and called "Goodbye Victor!" Victor gave Nigel a thumbs up while Grey whistled at the horribly embarrassed couple. The Romans continued to laugh while Velvet and Nigel shared a quick kiss before leaving for their own airships. Once everyone made it to their ships, the massive carriers started their departure and flew off, leaving the prestigious school all but empty.
