Itami stood on the sunken building, she looked over the remains of the destroyed city and sighed. Was this wild chase for paradise doomed to fail like the human race? Was paradise something elder wolves made up so they would feel better as they sat aside, while ignorant humans destroyed the world?

A low howl shattered her thoughts and gave her a jolt of surprise, she was still not used to travelling with company. Jumping down from the building and silently making her way over to Toboe, who was howling and calling out to Tsume, she put her hand on his shoulder and smiled, "Don't worry, we will find him." She began walking and Toboe followed, but they stopped again shortly when a thick, black smoke billowed up into the sky.

"Lets get back." Itami said looking around for any danger.

Toboe looked up at her. "What about Tsume?" he asked desperately.

"Tsume was stupid enough to run off, now lets go." Itami growled, she was about to drop her illusion when a loud crack exploded in the air and large shape collided with her and knocked her to the ground. Itami began hitting out and wriggling to get away from the crushing weight that pinned her down.

"Stop that you idiot, it's me!" Tsume growled and stood letting Itami stand.

"What do you think you are doing, attacking me like that?" Itami growled.

Another gunshot ripped through the dead air and left a ringing in the wolves ears. Tsume just glared at Itami before running away, Toboe in tow, she guessed that was the best answer she was going to get. Shaking her head she looked to were the gunshots were coming from, a large metal machine sat a few meters away from her. It was one the humans had used in the great war, it must still be activated and hunting for any living beings. At the moment those living beings were Tsume and Toboe.

In a fit of emotion, (one that Itami could not explain) she ran at the machine, four paws and a set of iron jaws landed on the metal beast and began tear at it but with a fast movement, the machine threw Itami off and now sprayed bullets in her direction. Itami jumped at the machine again and this time ripped away some wires. The machine twisted and turned, catching her paw in the metal work , another twist and a sickening snap and Itami yelped in pain, she jumped away and hid behind a large mass of concrete. Taking short and labored breaths she looked up at the moon for comfort, she closed her eyes and recited an old chant her grandmother taught her before they went to war.

Fight little moon child

Do what you must

Death will come to you soon enough

The moon will guide you if you trust it to

The place where your heart is calling to

Silence.

No bullets, no whine of old rusting metal. Nothing. Slowly Itami looked over the mass of concrete and gasped, the machine had gone. Sniffing the air and looking carefully at the tracks the machine had left behind. It had left a few hours ago She cursed herself, that chant often put her in a trance and being a full moon the effects were very strong. It dawned on her that the last time she saw the machine it was not only after her, but Tsume and Toboe too also the fact that it was now daylight she began to worry. In panic she howled long and low, it was a howl used to a lot in her old pack, it was howl to locate and regroup but also one to wish on the lucky wolves that had died in battle. She waited for a few moments and when she received no response she howled again, this time she was cut off but a high howl, it sounded like Toboe and not too far away. Itami ran the best she could with her injured paw towards the howl and within a few minutes she saw Toboe, Tsume, Hige and Kiba. She slowed and walked the rest of the way to them.

"Where did you disappear to?" Hige questioned looking at her suspiciously.

"I tried to lure it away but... I.." Itami stuttered, did she dare let slip she injured her paw and fell asleep?

What happened to your paw?" Toboe asked staring at the misshapen and flattened thing on the end of her front right leg.

"It got crushed, it'll heal soon." Itami smiled and looked over at Tsume, who had been avoiding her gaze. She noticed his leg was bleeding heavily and realised why he had tackled her early. "Thanks." She said flatly, "You know you kind of have to be my hero now, since you took a bullet for me and all."

Tsume narrowed his golden eyes to dangerous slits and grunted. "Don't flatter yourself, I was moving out of the way but you got in my way."

"Whatever you say." Itami smiled.

"You really are something special don't you?" Tsume snarled.

"Enough arguing." Kiba said, before looking to Itami. "Can you walk?"

Itami nodded.

Kiba gave her a small smile before setting of a slow pace.
