That didn't just happen. Tell me that didn't just happen. That wasn't real right? Please don't be real.

Russia sighed and turned off the television. She had been sitting in her hotel room in Antalya ever since what happened. She refused to leave. She knew the paparazzi was right outside that door waiting for her. It had been almost two days. She was running out of snacks. Belarus, Ukraine, Latvia, China, and Lithuania had checked up on her yesterday, but she demanded that they left. She wished she would have let one of them in so they could go out and get food. She sighed. The paparazzi seemed to be by her house now. Maybe she could finally get some food. She looked through the peephole. She didn't see any paparazzi. She opened the door slightly. She then lightly stepped outside like the world was asleep and she was trying to not disturb it. The moment she stepped around the corner, she was bombarded with cameras and news reporters.

"Russia! Over here!"
"Russia have you been a woman this entire time?"
"How long have you been masquerading as a male?"
"Miss Russia! Are you transgender?"
"What does Vladimir Putin think of your transition?"
"Russia! Russia! What are your views on feminism? Do you consider yourself a feminist?"
"Russia! Is it true that you are a closeted homosexual?"
"How long have you known that you were a woman?"
"Mister-er–Miss Russia! Is it true that you are secretly the head of the secret LGBT organization in Moscow?"
"Miss Russia, how have you managed to deceive the media all these years?"
"Miss Russia! Are those real?"
Russia looked around. There was no exit. She was completely surrounded. She felt like she was being constricted. All these people…she was trapped.

"Leave me alone!" Russia screamed. She escaped back into her hotel room. She sighed. That was exhausting. I've always hated paparazzi. She flopped down on the bed.

"…I've always known Russia was a demon. No one believed me."
"Thank you Mr. Japan. Coming up, a strange drop in temperature in Antalya…"

The room began to get colder. Ah. Good. The air conditioning is kicking in. I can't stand the hot weather... I'm so tired. I haven't slept much these past few days. I'm so tired…so tired…

Russia was suddenly surrounded by snow. Ice crystals fell from the sky. Russia looked up. She saw a familiar face. The one that had been her arch rival, yet a dear friend. General Winter.

"Winter…" she breathed.

"Russia," he greeted.

"You…recognize me?" she asked.

"Of course," he replied.

"Are you…surprised?"

"I'm surprised," he answered, "I am surprised this didn't happen sooner."

"What do you mean?" Russia asked filling with anger, "You knew this was going to happen to me? You know why this happened to me? You knew this whole time about all this and didn't tell me?!"

"Now Russia, don't get so angry. It all comes with the curse," he said.

"What are you talking about?" Russia asked.

"Do you ever wonder why you and your siblings can't seem to make any friends? Why no matter were you go, an aura of dread hangs above you? Do you ever feel you were just made to be alone?" he inquired.

"Get to the point," growled Russia.

"I will tell you a story," narrated Winter, "Just shortly after Belarus was born, the village that found you three, a pagan village, were skeptical of you three. And they looked into your future. They saw that you were not normal, and that one of you three was going to be a world superpower. So the town leader got jealous. And he cursed all three of you. He cursed you three, so you would always be alone. He basically gave you three the ability to never make friends, or have immense trouble doing so. Since you were the only boy, he was about to kill you right away. But you got lucky. For I arrived to save you."

"You…did?" she asked, "But why-"

"I was not done talking Russia," he said, "Do not interrupt me."

"Yes sir…" she replied.

"We then settled on a compromise. When you became big and became a large, dangerous super power country, you would become female and suffer like your sisters." Russia continued to listen. "Your sufferings, of course, were outdated quickly. As for women gained the rights of men. So you got lucky. And the curse just made everything extremely awkward."

"This…is a lot to take in…"

"After I convinced him to let you live he set more curses on you three in resentment," he said, "For Ukraine, it was a physical burden. When she grew older, she was to have such a great physical burden that moving would almost always cause her pain."

"Ah! So that is why her boobs are so big," realized Russia, "Did he curse me again too?"

"Yes. You had the familial burden. Though in today's terms it is outdated, but you could never produce children. If you did, it would mean a disaster would plague your country."

"Is that why my country mass produces condoms?" Russia asked.

"Most likely."

"Ahh! Now I get it! But what about Belarus? She doesn't seem cursed. Unless it was the curse of incest," she joked.

"For your younger sister, it was a mental burden. She was cursed to never truly feel," he explained, "No never feel empathy or understand the feelings of others. Thus making it impossible for the children she would have to be successful. Of course, the reasoning was soon outdated as well, but she still got stuck with probably the worst of the three."

"What? Bel has emotions," argued Russia, "She gets angry a lot. She used to smile a lot around me and–"

"She has emotions, Russia. And she has feelings," he explained, "She just doesn't have the ability to feel remorse or regret. However this curse saved your life."

"It did?"

"You should remember. When you were a little bit older, during the reign of the Mongols?" he asked, "You remember what happened to you." Russia felt her neck.

"Of course I do…"

"On second thought, you probably don't remember," said Winter, "After all you had…your own problems."

"What happened after?"

"Well, it happened after…that," he narrated, "Your sister witnessed it all. She was filled with rage. So she brutally murdered the people she saw shortly after."

"But I was told they died in the uprising."

"They were murdered by a little girl," replied Winter, "Death by riot seemed like the better way to tell the story."

"Belarus…"

"I know it's a lot to take in."

"So let me get this straight," she summarized, "There was this jealous pagan guy who actually knew something about nations and tried to slaughter me. You saved my life but since women weren't taken seriously back then, i would get a complete sex change when I became a well known guy. And so he cursed my siblings and I to have this stupid aura that says 'stay the fuck away from me'. He gave Ukraine huge tits and gave Belarus antisocial personality disorder. And then he was still pissed at me, this three year old kid, that didn't even know what the hell was going on. And now if I have ever knocked up someone I die. Is that it?"

"Basically."

"It sounds complicated," she replied, "Yet, I'm intrigued." Russia then realized something. "Wait! I have a question!"

"What is it?"

"Because this happened—because I'm a girl now—does that mean my aura of dread is gone?" Russia asked, "Because people are talking to me and they like me now and…it's unusual, but I think the aura is gone."

"I do not know everything Russia," replied Winter.

"I know…"

"I'm going to go. Do you feel better?" he asked.

"I do," replied Russia, "Thank you…for everything…"

"I'll see you in October," smiled Winter, "Farewell."

"Good bye…" she said, "Wait, October?! Winter is coming in October?!" But General Winter was already gone.

Russia blinked her eyes open. She looked around her hotel room. It was chilly. She remembered turning on the air to relieve herself of the heat of Antalya.

"Unbelievable! It is snowing in Antalya in April! This is a weather phenomenon!"

Russia smiled as she heard the tv blaring in the background. Oh Winter. She sighed. This was going to happen eventually. It's hard to believe I got away with it for so long. She chuckled. I guess it is funny how blind some people are.

There was a yell outside her door. What was that? The paparazzi sure are noisy. She looked at her phone. She had 20 notifications. She looked through them. 6 missed calls from the government. 3 missed calls from Putin. 1 missed call from Ukraine. 2 missed calls from Belarus. 1 missed call from China. 1 missed call from…Canada? How nice of him! She had become very busy after this little incident. She looked at the new messages:

Russia, I had a feeling that something was going on recently. I honestly assumed you were sick. But even if you are a female my…

Пиндос

Dude, you okay?

She soon heard a knock on her door. She groaned. She was sick of the paparazzi. But maybe it was someone else. Maybe it was her sister or Lithuania. Or Kazakhstan or North Korea. They liked her, right? She went to the door and looked out the peephole. She was surprised at what she saw. What the hell is he doing here? Should I open it? She opened the door just a crack.

"What are you doing here?" Russia scoffed.

"Hey," began America, "I came to say I'm–" Russia slammed the door in his face. "Hey! Russia! Hear me out man!"

"Why should I?" Russia snapped.

"I came to apologize!"

She opened the door fully this time. America was caught off guard by seeing her as a full woman. "My eyes are here," she reminded. America's head snapped up.

"Sorry. I'm just…not used to you being a girl…" he admitted, "Or finding out that you are a girl…that's what the media's saying." So that's what they're running with… "It's snowing right now. Everyone is blaming Finland for that." Russia smiled a little bit, but quickly stopped. She noticed America was acting slightly out of character. He looked…nervous?

"I'm sorry about how I acted earlier…I mean, with the fighting and all. It wasn't mature and I'm sorry," he apologized. Russia was shocked she was actually getting an apology from America. America of all people! "Wow. I mean–How did you get yourself to look so big? You used to be so huge and now seeing you without that coa–"

"I was not fat!" Russia suddenly exclaimed.

"I didn't say you were…wait…what?" America was confused, "Dude, what is going on?" Russia was quiet.

"…Why should I tell you?" she replied, "I do not trust you."

"So were you always a girl? Are you trans or…"

"No such thing exists in Russia. Or at least, that is atmosphere…" she replied.

"Oh…but I've seen you shirtless before, man! And last time I checked, you did not have those," he objected, "Because I would have definitely noticed."

"Will you please stop looking at my chest?" Russia said with a dark tone.

"Im just saying it's hard not to notice…all this. So either you're trans or there's some freaky shit going on," concluded America, "Oh wait…it's you. Of course it's freaky shit…"

"Kol kol kol…"

"See? Freaky shit like that is why people don't want to be around you," blurted America.

"America?" Russia smiled, "Do you like your face?"

"I do!" he replied.

"Would you still like it if I broke it?" Russia said, reaching behind the door.

"You can't take me!" America laughed, "I have super strength!"

"And I have pickaxe!" Russia swung at America. America caught the weapon. He then snapped off one of the blades. "My pickaxe!" Russia snarled, "You will pay for that…" Russia raised her scarf, ready to attack.

"Wait!" America stopped, "Fighting is getting us nowhere. Look at what happened at the meeting. Do you really want that to happen again?"

"Yes. I was winning!" smiled Russia.

"Okay, but pretend that you're not a psychopath," replied America.

"I feel like you are trying to insult me but are failing very much," answered Russia, "It is hard to feel insulted when you do not know much English."

"I just refuse to hurt you," he said.

"Why? Because I am girl now?" Russia asked, "Are you scared of pretty little girl?"

"Look, all I'm saying is that this pointless fighting has gotten us nowhere," he continued, "Look at us." Russia stopped. She then lowered her scarf.

"…I agree," smiled Russia, "This needs to stop. Let's settle this like people rather than like men."

"Or we can solve this like women…however women solve things," added America.

"I honestly do not know how woman solve things," thought Russia aloud, "I believe a lot of it involves emotions. Or breasts. One or the other." America laughed.

"Don't you have two sisters?"

"They are not exactly normal though…"

"That's true!" The two laughed.
For once in herlife Russia finally got along with America.

"The personification of the nation of Russia was revealed–"
"About 20 journalists were severely injured by the nation of Belarus for asking about her sib–"
"We asked Lithuania what his opinion on the situation was, but he refused to answer us. Media shows he was bombarded by the press this morning. He reportedly froze before revealing that he had no comment."
"…don't get why this is such a big deal, eh? So what if she is a woman? It's still Russia, right? She shouldn't be treated any different now tha–"
"…think this is the work of magic. I mean we have all seen Russia shirtless. We would have definitely noticed—or I definitely would have noticed those. If you know what I mean…"
"Hahahaha…"
"But if it is magic, I hope he…she suffers. After what she did to me, Russia could burn in hell for all I care."
"Thank you Mr. Romania. Up next, an interview with Uganda–"
"…her before! Like, no joke! I swear I like, saw her somewhere! I don't know, but she is like, totally cute and like, so pretty! I need to ask what raz–"
Russia turned off the television.

"So what really did happen aru?" China asked.

"It is going to sound crazy," replied Russia.

"Try me."

"It is a really long story…" she said, "You have heard rumors about how I am cursed?"

"Japan says so but…this is part of the curse?" China guessed. Russia nodded.

"Hm. That was easier than I thought."

"Did you talk to your sisters about this aru?" China asked.

"Of course," replied Russia, "They are kind of cursed too."

"Are you telling anyone else aru?" China said, "If media asks me I would like to have response."

"It is just you and Lithuania that know about this," she replied, "And I am not sure if I want the media to know yet. I would appreciate it if this was between us. Especially after I tell you the full story."

"Understand aru. Wait, Russia?"

"Hm?"

"You really comfortable with telling me full story aru?"

"Of course! You are my best friend! Why would I not be comfortable?" Russia replied.

"Oh…thank you. I really appreciate that aru…" replied China, "I remember when you were just a little one aru…I not sure if you remember…"

"l think I do," she replied, "It was during the time of Tatar rule, right?"

"Yes. You were just little boy aru. So small and scared. I told you I was scared too. And you told me one day, you would be big country and then we would not be scared anymore aru."

"I remember!" Russia smiled, "You looked rather scared when I said that."

"Aiya…"

"Big brother!" Belarus called, "I believe now it is time to get drunk."

"Yes! I will keep that promise. Let's all get drunk!"
