It's been a while.. A week or so but still a while. Now... let's move on.
DISCLAIMER! I KNOW, WE ALL KNOW, I DON'T OWN KATEKYO HITMAN REBORN! IT ALL BELONGS TO AMANO AKIRA! (Why do I do that every chapter? It's not necessary... Eh.. Whatever.)
Yamamoto stared in awe. He's never seen someone go one-on-one with Hibari. Wait he should say human. He's never seen a human go one-on-one with Hibari. He just stood there, watching as Gokudera took the defensive side. Even though she barely got a chance to attack, she was still on equal grounds. A light blush rode across his cheeks from the display.
Gokudera ducks another of Hibari's attack and jumps up from the immediate second. She uses his head as a balance point to flip herself through the air with one hand. Immediately launching herself from that hand, she held one of his ton-fas and landed. She took the other as it came flying her way but not before dodging to ease the blow. Having both offensive weapons in her grasp, she forced the other to defensive.
Shooting a leg to his abdomen, she expected him to release the weapon. To which she was right. Hibari released his hold on his weapons and jumped back, easily avoiding the blow.
Gokudera continuously spun the ton-fas in her hands around, the weapons upside down. As an idea popped through her mind from the other's intense glare, she flipped the ton-fas to an 180, holding it in its rightful way and readied herself with them. A smirk teasing her lips.
"Come." She initiated.
Hibari lunged forward, set on retrieving his partners back.
All throughout it, Yamamoto couldn't bear to tear his eyes from the scene, from Gokudera. It was all too unreal, amazing, unseen. He couldn't even describe it. Seeing the person you may like more than a friend, demonstrate such finesse, can you really blame him?
Hibari threw a punch to her face and to her gut soon after to which Gokudera, of course, dodged. He then shot a kick at her leg and an immediate other to her side. Gokudera jumped from the one aimed at her leg and performed a perfect back-flip to maintain her balance.
As she landed back on the ground, the second one came flying to her. Seeing she had no chance to dodge, she used the ton-fa to block the attack and launched the other to the prefect's head. Hibari ducked and use that chance of an opening to her, he was about to attack her stomach but was unable as she backed away.
They both stopped as if pausing. Gokudera smirked and threw the ton-fas in the air and as Hibari's attention locked onto them for the split second, she shot forward and landed a light punch though packed with some strength at his gut. She then moved back from the knee running to her and to her previous position.
"You've got moves." She commented.
"Hn." The other emotionlessly agreed. But she could tell the excitement running through him. Everytime she was able to touch him, she felt the adrenaline coursing throughout his body.
Hibari smirked and she knew that he wanted another round. They both knew the other was not using his (/her) complete strength which enticed them even more than they were.
"Well. I'm looking for someone so let's continue this another day, shall we?" Hibari kept his smirk as if saying 'Can't wait'.
Gokudera then turned over to Yamamoto, raising an eyebrow at his expression. His mouth agape, eyes wide and cheeks flushed.
She turned back to Hibari who just walked away, also indicating she can go further.
Both combatants unharmed, unscathed and not even a glisten of sweat on them.
Gokudera went back to Yamamoto and carefully walked closer. "Yamamoto." No answer. "Oi, Yamamoto!" She called and slapped the back of his head which seemed to have snapped him back. "What's wrong with you?"
"O-oh, sorry, it's just.. no one has ever been able to land a blow on Hibari before."
"From his skills, that was an easy guess."
"But.. you were amazing!" He said, a wide grin slinking on, startling Gokudera a bit.
She sighed. "Let's just go." She carried on further into the building.
"Where did you learn to fight like that?" He asked catching up. She shrugged at his question.
Soon enough, the bell rang, signalling the ending of the first period. "Don't you have clas-..." Sensing no movement from the other, Gokudera turned around only to be greeted with an idiot, sparkles all around him and certainly bright within those brown eyes. She sweat-dropped at the scene as he watched her with great admiration. "O-oi.. You do know you have class now, right?"
He nodded his head with that grin still plastered on. "But I'm staying with Gokudera instead."
"What the hell? Go to your damn class-"
"Hey maybe you can teach me some moves." He said and began laughing after.
"Are you kidding me? There's no way-"
"Why not?" Came a high voice. For the second time, she was cut short as Reborn appeared from a window opposite them dressed in a traditional gi with a black belt.
She knows she's going to regret asking this but.. "'Why not' what?"
"Teach him a few moves." He said sitting on the window sill.
"No. I'm not wasting my time-"
"Isn't that great, Yamamoto? Gokudera said he'll train you."
"No, I didn-"
"Thanks Gokudera!" Yamamoto said cheerfully.
"I did NO-"
"While you're at it you can tutor him academically as well. His grades are too bad to even laugh." Reborn interrupted once again.
"There's no wa-"
"That'll be great! If I get my grades up, then I can have my practices without any problems! Haha!" Yamamoto took over.
"I AM NOT-"
"Isn't Gokudera a good friend, Yamamoto? He said he'll tutor you too." Reborn, endlessly commented.
"Stop misleading hi-"
"You really are an awesome friend, Gokudera! Thanks!"
"I am not your friend and I'm-"
"Then it's settled. Gokudera is now your personal tutor." Again, Reborn.
"NO WAY IN HEL-"
"Great!"
BAM
"Eh? Gokudera? You okay?" Yamamoto asked his 'tutor' as her head was now banged onto the wall at the side. Luckily not 'into' it. From across the room, the baby hitman smirked.
"He's fine. More importantly, your Home Economics teacher is looking for you, Yamamoto." Reborn warned from the figure walking on the far side of this building, looking and searching around.
"Shoot!" He said and scrambled away.
"My life's being diminished to dust.." Gokudera sulkily whispered, sliding down the wall face-first causing Reborn's smirk to grow.
"Cheer up Baka-Dera."
"B-Baka-Dera?" She questioned wearily.
"At least you're at an advantage." He jumped off the sill and walked over to her.
"What advantage could I possibly derive from this situation?" She lifted her head to face him when she felt him drawing nearer.
Reborn stopped for a while as if thinking and continued. "Experience."
BAM
Her head rested along the wall once again. "Anyway," She removed her head once again, looking back at him. "Why do you want me to tutor him?" Reborn knew the other questions she wanted answers to but seeing as she didn't ask them, he wasn't going to answer.
"Just for the sake of himself." Gokudera raised an eyebrow at this but nevertheless, let it slide. She could tell something bigger was behind those words but since Reborn didn't prod on, she wasn't going to. Though she wanted to know what her services are worth in this situation. She knew, he knew what questions she had in mind and she knew, he knew, she knew, he knew she had those questions. To speed up to date, they both knew that she's to prideful to ask.
Thinking that maybe, despite the horror of it all erupting in her stomach from her gut, she could unravel something tutoring the brainless idiot.
"By the way, why are you here and.. wearing that?" She asked as she stood.
Reborn just smirked again. "It's all about timing." She narrowed her eyes at him and raised an eyebrow. She may not know what his explicit intentions are but she knows what he's rounding about and Reborn knows she does.
"So when are we going to start?" Yamamoto asked enthusiastically at the figure beside him, leaning their head back onto the fence of the roof they were on.
The figure sighed. "Tomorrow." Yamamoto then thrust another piece of sushi into his mouth and offered some, again, to the figure who just declined it, again.
"Awesome! Oh yeah! Gokudera, why don't you come over by Tsuna's today?" Yamamoto asked.
'Hm? Spending almost the rest of the day with the cute, polite and kind Tsuna? Maybe all the bad luck thrown to me is trying to make amends.' She thought. "Sure."
"Great!"
"SAFE!" Shouted the coach playing as the umpire as Yamamoto reached home base and the other players of his team began cheering.
'Good abundance in agility, strength, reflexes, focus and concentration. Worth tutoring.' She commented in her mind as she sat back on the bleachers along with a student from her same class sitting further down from her because of their uneven numbers. 'Now the only question in hand here is how can I train him in hand to hand combat if I can't touch him? I've finally got my senses back to normal and I know, if I lay a hand on him or vise versa, It'll mess up again. Maybe I can just train him in kendo. But what if it doesn't necessarily need to be skin contact only?' She sighed. 'This might be more than I can handle with this amount of strength.'
From behind some bushes, a baby in a baseball uniform smirked.
"Gokudera!" She snapped out of her thoughts and her head up to look at the caller.
Yamamoto came running up to her, glistening in sweat, covered in dirt with a few scratches and a bat over his shoulder. "Gokudera?" He called again. Gokudera caught herself with that only to see Yamamoto standing in front of her and a worried expression strewn across his face.
"What?" She replied and got up.
"Well, you were staring at me for a while there." Gokudera's mind jumped at that. Staring at him?
Her mind reeled back to earlier and a very, very faint blush brushed across her cheeks. It's practically invisible to the naked eye. If say it was a hitman-in-the-form-of-a-baby-hiding-somewhere-they-don't-know-smirking-at-every-movement-they-made, then there's a possibility he could've seen.
Gokudera held her pencil rather tightly. If you listen very closely, you can its screams.
"I've explained it over fifteen times for you." She spat through gritted teeth. "You multiply either equation 1 or 2 by the amount needed to cancel out a pair where you end up with an equation 3. Depending on their signs, you add or subtract the rest. You then divide them and you're left with your answer for 'X'. You then substitute by adding the x's value for either started equations and you're given your answer for 'Y'. I've done five examples for you already. What is it that you don't get?" You can clearly see that she's trying her best to hold herself back.
"Hmm.." Her 'offender' thought for a while.
'Your answers may determine your life span. Think careful-'
"All of it!"
SNAP
Was the end of the mechanical pencil she held. Not just in half but it seemed as if a vehicle had run over it.
"Yamamoto Takeshi.." She ground out.
"G-Gokudera-kun," The smaller of the two called. "M-maybe he c-could understand it m-more if y-you did a-another one." He timidly spoke.
"Leave him, Dame-Tsuna." Came the words from a formally dressed baby sitting on a desk drinking a cup of cappuccino to the side of a mini-table they sat around, on the floor.
"B-but-" He protested but was cut short.
"Fine. I'll make a deal instead." Gokudera said as she calmed herself. "If you don't perfect this topic by tomorrow, then we're doing it my way." As if on cue, the baby hitman smirked. Gokudera went the 'normal' way since Tsuna was there but considering she'll be tutoring him by tomorrow, alone, she can at least have some fun doing it.
Gokudera felt the small brunette beside her, shiver. She raised an eyebrow at this.
'He felt my intent on that?' She inaudibly questioned.
"Okay!" She snapped back as she heard Yamamoto excitedly agree.
'That idiot is really an idiot..' She sighed. "Then," She scribbled a couple of equations on a few blank papers and a few formulas on some others. "Return these to my by tomorrow. If you score over.. seventy percent, you're off the hook. These are the formulas to help guide you through the equations. Good luck." Gokudera said and stood, grabbing her bag along with her.
"Eh? You're leaving?" Tsuna asked.
"Yes. It's already past seven." She replied.
"Eh?! Really?!" Tsuna, exclaimed in shock.
She nodded her head in response. "Did you understand anything?"
"Oh, yeah. Thanks a lot Gokudera-kun! I think I understand most of it now." He answered and shot her one of his brightest smiles.
'Urgh, damn. Cuteness like this shouldn't even exist...' "Her mind grumbled. "Then, I'm off."
"Bye!"
"Bye, Gokudera!" Yamamoto followed.
"Oh, Etsu." Gokudera called as she saw Etsuko passing from the front of the apartments. "Here," She pulled out an envelope, the same one Etsuko gave her as he turned around. "The rent." He took it with a surprised look.
"But it's not due till next month."
"I don't like disturbances." She said and walked. Estuko just shrugged and carried along behind.
"So, how come you were so late?" He asked.
"I was helping Tsuna and your cousin with their studies." Gokudera went into a little office beside the administration's.
"Oh." She stopped in front of a mail cubby. The entire office was filled with them. She took out her keys and used one to unlock the one marked 'Gokudera Hayato 3-B', pulling out two envelopes from within. Locking it back, she headed out.
"E-Etsuko-kun!" As they were about to walk to the stairs, a voice called out. Turning around, Gokudera saw a girl, the same age as Etsuko, shyly waving at him with a light blush. Looking at Etsuko, she saw a copy of the girl's blush on him.
"Y-Yuko-chan?! W-what are you doing here?" He asked as she hesitantly walked closer.
Hearing Etsuko stutter along with his blush clicked something in Gokudera's mind. 'Oh..' A slight smirk then crept on her lips.
"Y-you f-forgot your.. um.. Math book." She stuttered out while digging through her bag for said object. Finding it, she pulled it out and handed it to him, shyly.
"T-thanks. But, you didn't need to come all the way h-here." Gokudera's smirk grew wider as she saw Estuko trying not to stutter.
"I-It's fine. Plus... I w-wanted to s-see y-you." She whispered out the latter.
As Gokudera saw the blush on both cheeks redden further, she couldn't hold back a chuckle, shifting all attention to her. While Etsuko watched her with a pout, the girl, Yuko, watched her in surprise.
"I-I'm sorry! I-I didn't n-notice you!" Yuko exclaimed and bowed abruptly.
"It's quite alright. I did get a little entertainment."
"H-Haya-chan!" Etsuko shouted, blush bright on both faces. Gokudera chuckled again.
"So, what's your name?" Gokudera asked.
"U-um.. M-Miyamoto Yuko. N-Nice to meet you." She said still bowing.
"Nice name. And I'm not royalty, you don't need to bow." Yuko hesitantly straightened. "See, not bad right?" Though she just shyly nodded her head. "Gokudera Hayato."
"H-huh?" Yuko asked surprised.
"My name." Was Gokudera's simple reply.
"O-oh.. Thank you.. Gokudera-san." Gokudera just nodded her head in acknowledgement. "I-I have to go now. I-I promised my mom I wouldn't s-stay out too late."
"T-thanks for dropping by, Yuko-chan." Etsuko said to which she nodded and left.
"You're mean, Haya-chan!" Etsuko shouted as Yuko was out of sight.
"Hm, ironic, huh." She replied and walked back to the stairs.
"I'm not that mean!" Gokudera raised an eyebrow at that and turned to him. Etsuko just pouted again and folded his arms across his chest. "Ow!"
"Are you trying to make me bear-hug you?" She asked as she pinched one of his cheeks.
"Iwm sowwy! Nyow wet gow, ish hurshs!" Gokudera released his cheek and a red mark took her place. "Ow.." He mumbled as he rubbed his cheek. (I'm sorry! Now let go, it hurts!)*
"Isn't it bedtime for you?" She asked as she stuck her key in her lock, unlocking it.
"I don't have a bedtime! I just have to sleep at eight is all."
"Genius? It's ten to eight." She said showing him her watch. A panicked expression ran across his face as he bolted down the stairs and to the house in the back. Gokudera just entered her apartment and locked up.
"Gokudera!" Said person spun to see a tall, black-haired boy running to her. "Sorry I'm late! I overslept!" Finally catching up to her home-room's desk, he bent over, trying to regain his lost oxygen. Catching himself, he slipped his bag off and rummaged through it, pulling out a couple of papers folded in halves. He handed the paper to her and sat in his seat, still breathing a little heavily.
Gokudera scanned through the papers in less than a minute and turned back to Yamamoto, handing the papers back to him. "You haven't even reached forty much less pass."
"Haha. Guess, I need to work harder then." He said, sheepishly scratching the back of his head.
"Well, tomorrow we'll be focusing on your theory. Today I'll be testing your skills." She said and moved back to the book she was reading.
"Okay!"
"Make sure to be in the gym at third period." Her eyes not moving from their object of interest.
"Eh? But I have class."
"I'll take care of that. Just write down whatever teacher it is."
"Alright!" He said and immediately got to work. "But why are you here? Don't you have class? And no one's here."
Gokudera's eye twitched at the multiple questions thrown to her. "I want to be here." She replied and turned the page. "You have class now. And you're ten minutes late, by the way."
Understanding what she said, Yamamoto rushed out of the door with a 'Sorry! See you in third period!' behind.
"Gokudera!" Yamamoto called as he entered the university's gym and saw Gokudera sitting on the bleachers. Though she made no move, he continued. "I'm ready." He said with a bright smile.
Gokudera got up and lead him with a commanding finger. A light brown, punching dummy stood in the middle of the gym.
"What's this for?" He asked.
"You'll be doing hand-to-hand combat with this." She simply replied.
"Oh!" As he was about to walk closer to his 'opponent', Gokudera raised her left hand as a sign to stop. He looked at her hand confusedly and then to her.
Gokudera took out a small, green, computer-looking chip from her back pocket and presenting it to him by lifting it. Ignoring his even more confused gaze, Gokudera walked to the back of the dummy and inserted it somewhere inside.
After a while, she pulled away and stepped back.
Curious, Yamamoto opened his mouth to ask but was silenced as he saw something move from the corner of his eye only to see an agilely, active practice dummy.
"How-"
"In the next minute, that dummy will attack. It will only stop once it's destroyed. If it's not, it will attack relentlessly." She said and returned to the bench, sitting back and ready to observe.
"But-" Yamamoto was once again interrupted as he saw a blur quickly move to him, ready to throw a punch.
He evaded and continued dodging the multiple attacks swung at him.
'Good reflexes but because of your lagging, you were forced into defence.' She began evaluating.
Even though Yamamoto took a couple hits, Gokudera could tell there was something.. revealing behind those moves though they were a bit normal for second-timers.
Yamamoto ducked then titled his body to the side a bit to evade the attacks. He immediately moved to the opposite from the other and backed away. He then moved to the side and used that to lay an attack.
He was caught off-guard when the moving dummy abruptly turned to him and launched a fist to his stomach.
"Urgh.." He toppled a bit and realized his mistake of stopping as another aimed to his head. He closed his eyes, ready for the impact.
After a while, he felt nothing. Slowly opening his eyes, he was startled a bit as he saw the dummy's fist about two inches from his face but found that it wasn't moving. It looked like a regular punching dummy.
"It's disabled. It won't move." Turning around, he found Gokudera in the same spot, leaning back but with a small, finger-sized controller in her hand.
"But I didn't-"
"You don't have to destroy it for it to stop." She cut him off.
"You said-"
"I did that to check your full ability or at least most." She said and grabbed a cold bottled water from beside her and threw it to him, which he caught.
"Oh! I see!" He took a sip from his water before continuing. "So, how did I do?" He asked and got a nod in response. "Great!"
'So that's what he meant.' She thought, reeling back what Reborn told her of the gaining advantage from this.
From underneath the bleachers, a baby in a ghillie suit, smirked.
Ahh.. done...
