Here's another chapter! This is mostly filled with comedy and maybe some friendship. No action today, just some talking, planning and comedy. Enjoy!
Chapter 5: School Slumber
"A campout?" Teikoku Eleven said, looking at their coach. They were in their locker rooms, just changing from their soccer uniform to their jerseys. It was a day after their fight with Sound Academy, so all they did was some teamwork training.
"Yes, a campout, here in school," Kakashi said with an eye smile.
"Why?" Jimon asked, crossing his arms.
"It's a way for us to relax," Ino explained. "We have two more days, so we could use tomorrow night to relax our muscles and deepen our trust."
"And maybe we could do each other's hair and nails," Fudou said sarcastically.
"You do need a new hairstyle," Ino retorted with a glare. "And when was the last time you cleaned your fingernails?"
"Why not?" Naruto said with a shrug. "We could use that night to have some fun and get to know each other better."
"If the captain agrees, then maybe it won't be a bad idea," Kidou said as he crossed his arms.
"If you all agree, then get your parents or guardians to sign these permission slips," Ino said as she pulled out some forms. The entire team, as well as Hinata and Ino, took the forms.
"The camp will begin tomorrow night, so have those slips signed for tomorrow," Kakashi said to his team. "Dismiss, and have a safe trip home."
"Hai!" the team exclaimed before they grabbed their stuff and exited the lockers. They bid goodbye to each other at the school gates and separated, either by groups or individuals.
Naruto was walking with Kidou, Fudou, Genda and Sakuma, discussing about some strategies against Raimon Eleven for their upcoming match.
"Can't wait for tomorrow night," Naruto said with a grin. "What to do…hehehe…"
"Don't even think about it, Naruto-kun," Fudou said with a deadpanned expression.
"I don't know what you're talking about," Naruto said innocently.
"What's he thinking?" Kidou asked, looking at Fudou.
"He's planning on pranking coach…again," Fudou said with a shrug. "And every time he tried, he fails and ended up pranking me."
"I'll never give up!" Naruto exclaimed. "I promised that I'll prank him, and I never break my promise!"
"Oh yeah?" Fudou said with a raised eyebrow before he gained an idea. "Then how about a bet?"
"What kind of bet?" Naruto asked, raising an eyebrow.
"If you can't prank Kakashi-sensei on the campout…no ramen for a month," Fudou said with a smirk as everyone looked at him with wide eyes.
"Okay…but if I did prank him, then…" Naruto thought about it before he grinned mischievously, something that made Fudou nervous. "You kiss Ino!"
Fudou stared at Naruto with wide eyes while the other three looked at Fudou before they laughed. The idea of Fudou kissing their blond manager was just an idea they thought was absurd.
"What's wrong, Fudou-kun? Scared?" Naruto said with a smirk.
"Deal!" Fudou exclaimed with a tick mark on his forehead. "Get ready for a ramen-less week!"
"And get ready to pucker up tomorrow night!" Naruto declared as the two shook hands.
"…You know Ino-san will kill you," Sakuma said as the two sealed their deal.
"It'll be worth it," Naruto said with a smirk.
"You really don't want to give up ramen," Genda said in a deadpanned tone.
"It's the food of the gods!" Naruto declared. "I'll never give ramen up. Never!"
"It's a wonder where that ramen goes," Kidou commented in a deadpanned tone. "How can you eat a hundred bowls and not have a bloated belly?"
"It's a family thing," Naruto said proudly.
"That's not something you should be proud of," Fudou said. The five separated and Naruto was back home.
"I'm home!" Naruto announced as he entered his home, removing his shoes.
"Ni-chan!" a voice exclaimed. He looked forward and saw Tomo being carried by a three year old girl with red hair tied to cute pigtails, bright purple eyes wearing a white shirt under a red dress.
"Have you been good, Mito-chan?" Naruto asked his sister as Tomo was put down.
Mito nodded eagerly before grabbing Naruto's hand and dragging him to the living room, which had a few toys littered on the floor.
"Play!" she said with a smile.
Naruto just grinned before he sat down and played with his little sister. Kushina, who was in the kitchen, walked to the living room and smiled at the scene of her two children getting along so well.
"How was your day, Sochi?" Kushina asked.
"It was great, Kaa-chan," Naruto replied as he looked at her. "There's also a campout tomorrow night. Can I go?"
"Sure," Kushina said with a smile. "Just be sure to brush your teeth, and bring clean underwear, and don't eat too much candy before bed, and-."
"Okay Kaa-chan, I get it," Naruto said in a deadpanned tone. "What's for dinner?"
"Ramen," Kushina said with a smile.
"Yes!" Naruto cheered. Mito cheered as well since her big brother cheered.
The family of three, plus a fox, then enjoyed their dinner together, happily smiling and talking.
One Day Later…
"Sleeping hat: check. Toothbrush and toothpaste: check. Emergency ramen: check. Prank kit: check. Camera to take a picture of Fudou's defeat: check," Naruto said as he looked at the things he packed. He slung his back over his shoulder and walked out his room. It was already five in the afternoon, so he was going now. Tomo was on his head, watching what Naruto was doing.
"Kaa-chan, Mito-chan," he said as he saw his family in the living room. "I'm going now."
"Have fun, Sochi," Kushina said as she walked towards her son and gave him hug.
"Bye," Mito said as she hugged his waist. "Are you gonna take Tomo?"
"Yup," Naruto said with a grin. "Tomo is gonna help Ni-chan with a little project. Hehehe."
"Now Sochi-kun, try not to get caught," Kushina said, knowing what her son was planning to do. After all, he got her love for pranking, and ramen.
"Hai, Kaa-chan," Naruto said as he walked out the door. "Bye!"
He ran as Tomo jumped to his right shoulder. He started whispering to Tomo, planning their attack on Kakashi. It was going to take a lot of resource and cunning to do this, and his intake on ramen was on the line, so this was a mission that needed to be done.
Once they reached the school, Naruto pushed Tomo through the school fence, as well as the prank kit. The two nodded before Tomo ran through the bushes, hiding. Naruto then walked towards the school entrance and saw Kidou about to enter.
"Yo, Kidou!" Naruto called as he ran to Kidou, who waited for him. "You ready to see Fudou kiss Ino?"
"Not really," Kidou said as a teacher let them in. "I'm looking forward to you not eating ramen for a month."
"E tu, Kidou?" Naruto said dramatically.
"It might be good for you," Kidou explained as they walked towards the school gym where they would be sleeping.
"I'll die if I stopped eating ramen!" Naruto exclaimed as they entered the gym. In it, they saw sleeping bags aligned on the floor and their teammates on the sleeping bags, getting their stuff out.
Narukami was cleaning his headphones while wearing some sleeping headphones. Fudou was lying on his sleeping bag, using his hands as a pillow as he stared at the ceiling. Genda and Haku were talking. Ino was doing Hinata's hair. Sakuma was polishing his eyepatch, his bang covering his other eye. The defenders were busy wrestling, trying to see who's stronger.
"Looks like they're getting comfortable," Naruto said as he and Kidou dropped their stuff on some sleeping bags. "So you've seen the match Raimon had?"
"Yes," Kidou said as he remembered the match. "They've gotten stronger in such a short time."
"So have we," Naruto said with a grin. "The finals will be our best matches. I can feel it."
"So, what do you plan to do with coach?" Kidou said, looking at Kakashi, who was reading his orange book.
"That's a surprise," Naruto said, looking very evil. He then pulled out his sleeping cap, which Kidou looked at with a strange look. Naruto noticed the look and lifted the hat. "Like it? It's very comfy to wear."
Kidou just gave him a look that was hidden by his goggles. He then looked as Naruto pulled out three instant ramen cups from the bag. Now, he was rooting for Fudou to win the bet.
Once everyone was there, they started cooking. They all decided to make curry, since it was easier to make. Naruto, Narukami and Genda were tending the cooking fire, using a hollow bamboo to blow into the fire. Kidou, Jimon and Wataru were cutting the onions, with Kidou the only one not affected by the onions' sting. Hinata, Ino and Haku were boiling the vegetables. The others were setting the table.
Fudou was looking at Naruto with narrowed eyes. The blond hasn't done anything suspicious yet, which was worrying for him. Naruto would always be flashy when he would try to prank Kakashi, but now he was careful, meaning he was serious.
He was feeling worried now. Maybe he shouldn't have made that bet. He looked at Ino and shivered. If Naruto won that bet, everyone would never let him hear the end of it.
"Dinner's ready!" the girls called. The boys cheered as they rushed towards the table, ready to eat. Before they were about to eat, they heard a scream. They looked and saw Oono running towards them, looking very pale.
"What's wrong big guy?" Naruto asked with a confused look, but inside he was smirking.
"G-g-g-ghost!" Oono exclaimed, pointing to where the restrooms were. "I was using the restroom and saw a ghost!"
"There's no such thing as ghosts," Fudou said with crossed arms.
"Then explain the creepy groaning sounds!" Oono exclaimed.
Kidou, Fudou, Genda and Sakurama exchanged a look before looking at Naruto. The blond noticed their look. "It wasn't me."
"We should check it out," Kakashi said, pocketing his orange book. "It could just be a wild animal."
Soon, Kakashi, Naruto, Fudou, Kidou, Narukami and Oono were walking towards the restrooms, holding flashlights. They entered the boy's restroom and looked all over the place.
"This is one clean restroom," Naruto commented as they looked all over the place.
"I don't see anything," Kidou said as he looked to the others. "Maybe it got scared and ran off."
They were about to exit the room when something fell and startled the group, doing the strange groaning noise.
Oono, Narukami and Naruto screamed before grabbing on to Kakashi. They fell to the ground and turned into a heap of tangled limbs.
"Calm down, guys," Kidou said as he grabbed the thing and saw that it was just a white sheet white a ghost face painted on it. "It's just a sheet…with a face."
"Hey, I remember that," Naruto said, looking at the sheet. "I put it there last year. I completely forgot about it."
"Why would you do that?" Fudou said as he crossed his arms.
"Why do we do anything," Naruto replied as he they all got up. "False alarm people, it was one of my handy work."
They all glared at him as he gave a sheepish grin. They then exited the restroom, except Naruto. The blond grinned as he pulled an orange book out his jacket. Tomo walked towards Naruto, holding an orange book with its mouth.
The two switched the book as Naruto ran out the restroom. He ran and saw the others back to the table, about to eat.
"Kakashi-sensei, you drop your orange book," Naruto said, holding the fake orange book.
Kakashi's eyes widened before patting his pockets. Faster than they can see, Kakashi grab the book from Naruto. Everyone watched as Kakashi cradled the book as it were a baby, giving him weird looks. Naruto had to hold the grin he had on his face as Kakashi opened the book.
Without warning, the book squirted Kakashin on the face, drenching him in water. Everyone look shock as Tomo ran from the bushes, carrying Kakashi's real orange book.
"Yes!" Naruto cheered as he jumped up. "I did it! I finally did it! I pranked Kakashi-sensei!"
He stopped celebrating as he felt a hand on his shoulder. Naruto looked over his shoulder and saw Kakashi giving Naruto an emotionless look.
A Minute Later…
Naruto was hanging on a pole Kakashi grabbed from the gymnasium. The pole was used for volleyball, so Naruto was tied up by the net.
"You okay there, captain?" Kidou asked as Naruto used on hand to feed himself.
"Uh-huh," Naruto said with a nod. "It was worth it. Right, Fudou-kun?"
Fudou glared at him but Naruto just laughed at him and made kissy faces. Fudou looked away and saw the girls feed Tomo, saying how cute he is. Fudou saw Ino and looked at his food muttering and grumbling.
Once everyone was finished eating, they all did the dishes, except for Naruto who was still tied up. Once the table was cleared and the pots clean, they all walked back to the gym. Since it was still early, they all decided to exchange stories.
While Narukami was telling a story, Naruto was holding his camera behind him, standing next to Kidou, Genda, Sakurama and Fudou.
"Come on, Fudou," Naruto said with a smirk. "A deals a deal."
Fudou glared at Naruto before dragging his feet towards Ino. They watched as Fudou stopped next to Ino, who was listening the story.
Fudou tapped Ino's shoulder. She turned to see who it was and saw that it was Fudou, who looked very uncomfortable. Just as Ino was about to ask what was wrong, Fudou suddenly leaned forward and kissed her cheek.
There was a flash and Fudou turned and saw Naruto holding a camera, cackling madly. Blushing madly, Fudou growled before running towards Naruto, who ran away, leaving a shock and blushing Ino.
"Give me that camera!"
"Over my dead body!"
"That's the idea!"
Everyone watched the two in amusement as Haku and Hinata try to snap Ino out of her shock. Naruto laughed as he ran, making fun of Fudou. Kidou looked around and saw his team laughing and having a good time.
He smiled. This is what the team was denied when Kageyama was in charge. To him, trust was a liability. But trust is what made this team stronger, not cheap tactics that guarantees victory. And the team was closer than before.
He started as the camera was passed towards him. He looked and saw Fudou going to tackle him. Before he got tackled, he saw Naruto pocketing the film with a grin.
One Day Later…
Team Teikoku were assembled in front of the bus that would be taking them to the stadium. Kakashi was in front of them, so were their managers. Naruto grinned as he turned to his team, who were ready.
"You guys ready?" Kakashi asked, giving his team his signature eye smile.
"Hai!" the team said, full of confidence and energy. They were waiting for this moment, especially Naruto.
Kakashi nodded and everyone entered the bus.
Sorry for the delay. Like the AN said, my old laptop broke, so here I am with a new laptop. Luckily, all my old stories were stored in a USB, so I'm all good. Anyway, hope you like the chapter, with all the comedy and the friendshipness. Fudou seemed a little OC, but just imagining his flustered expression is just funny.
