Chapter 19: Nightmares and Dreams II

Darkness.

Darkness and void.

Darkness, void and silence.

There's something comforting about this place that he just could not put words into. It felt like his outlet of escape, his refuge..

It just simply felt peaceful.

He like it in here. A place where nothing could stir him up or disturb him..

At least he thought so..

His peace was nothing but momentarily.

First there was a huge knock.

Then his world begun to rock.

Left and right.. Left and right.

The walls he had put up begun to crack and threatened to collapse..

Fai exhaled as he stirred from his sleep. His breathing picked up paced and his heart beat slightly harder to cater to the increased usage of oxygen used to supply for brain activities.

Something was nudging his physical body, making him stir from his sleep.

A fire.. Burning?

No.. Don't bother me. I just want to sleep.

He deliberately brushed the nudging sensation away and attempted to fall back to slumber's embrace.

Slowly he redrew from his body, pulling back into his subconscious mind. Retreating backwards, he could vaguely feel a familiar sense of hotness upon his body.

No. He's gonna ignore it.

He shook his leg attempting to loosen the hand that was grabbing his leg. But the grip upon his leg remained firm. Irritated, he kicked at it and the hand momentary let go.

He continued his way back into his safe shelter. But little he know, it creeped on to him. This time it lunged onto him, pouncing at an incredible speed. At the force, he tripped, falling flat on his face.

A huge force pressed him down to the ground. Behind him, a huge shadow hovered.

Ouch. It hurts.

The grip upon his hips grew with intensity. He struggled to get out of the black figure's grip.

Then he felt his whole body move backwards away from his destination.

No! I don't want to go back!

He cried out, reaching in front, watching his safe haven getting further and further away. Desperate, he clawed at the floor, willing his fingers to provide some resistance to the force that was pulling him away.

But the pair of hands which had grabbed onto him was too strong.

A sense of dread filled him as the black figure dragged him out of his peaceful darkness..

Fai groaned as his eyes opened briefly and a flash of light blinded him. By reflex, those blue eyes snapped shut once again. The light was too bright.

That was when he registered a sharp pain which shot through his body. He could feel a firm hand upon his hips. Firm? No.. It's more than that.

It hurts.

The blue eyes flickered open once again trying to register what was happening. Right. Exactly how many times had he woke up to this place? He didn't know. But the truth remained that he's still stuck in this hell hole.

Another black headed guy.

Urgh when is it gonna stop?

He groaned at the blurry figure registered in his mind.

Blinking once, Fai tried to focus his vision. The blurry figure sharpened for a second.

An intense burning sensation filled his entire body the same instant he regain his senses. He felt his body pulsate, an impossible warm shot, crusaded and flooded his insides. It almost felt pleasurable.

"Nhhh.. ahh" Sharp cries of pain seemed to be coming from his cracking dried throat.

No. Beyond it all, it hurts.

It hurts like crap.

Very vaguely, his hands reached down to his hips, attempting to stop the pain that was inflicted upon him while his brain attempted to process the image which his eyes registered.

Was he the one causing the pain?

No. Stop it. It hurts.

Then those blue eyes shot open for a second upon recognizing the owner of the blurry figure.

It was somebody he knew..

"Kinomoto-?" He could not help but let up a surprise whimper as he exhaled the breath he was holding.

The movement his body was experiencing paused for a brief moment before stopping. Fai could feel his world spin to a sudden stop.

Did he see correctly? Was it really Kinomoto? The guy he had fought just some time ago?

The blonde fluttered his eyes open to double check what he saw. He caught a surprised look upon those sweat drenched, slightly flushed face before the pain came back to him.

His lower body had been numbed by the countless number of abuse he had endured that if it is under the normal degree, he could easily ignore it. But this time, pain still shot through above all the numbness.

"Kinomoto.. Stop.." He groaned, his voice cracked with pain. It was hardly audible.

Why?

Why is he here?

Why is he doing this to me?

This thoughts ran back to the day of sparring. He recalled how he helped him up when he knocked him over and thank him for the match. From what he remembered, his opponent was a full pledge gentleman.

Why would he do this to him?

Is he the same as the rest?

No. He shouldn't be.

He recalled the time he helped him up when he was cornered a week ago.

Was he dreaming again?

Nightmare?

That must be it. It's a nightmare.

He mumbled to himself. As another intense pain shot through him. His body arched backwards, a scream stuck in his throat as his vision begun to blacken.

"Stop!" He screamed, struggling not to lose conscious again. That's right. It must have been some sort of mistake. Using his all his might, he tried to push Kinomoto off him.

Despite everything, the thrusting continued. He closed his eyes in attempt to push the pain away from him.

"Ahh." Against his will, he let out a scream.

Something made he reopened his eyes. The blue eyes widened in shock as they registered the familiar face in the far distance.

"Kuro?"

Merciless black eyes stared back in his blue ones. A look of disgust filled those eyes.

"You like this don't you?" His companion grunted, eyeing him with utmost disgust.

No. That's not it. A sense of hopeless filled him. No.. He didn't like it.. Not all all.

"Getting fucked like a slut." The man spat.

He throat felt dry. He opened his mouth to protest but no words came out. Desperately, he shook his head.

"Then why aren't you trying to escape?"

The black eyes stared straight into his soul.

"Such a useless piece of shit."

A chill ran down his spine.

"No wonder no one wants you."

Fai sucked in a deep breath as he woke up with a shock. He blinked his eyes to double check what was going on and his body froze for a moment in preparation for any ongoing assault.

But none came.

The room was strangely empty and silent.

Was it all a dream?

Recalling what just happening a few seconds ago, a shiver ran up his spine. Those blue eyes darted left and right. But Both Kuro-chan and Kinomoto was nowhere in sight.

Fai sighed a sigh of of relief.

So that must have been a dream. But the pain and dread felt so real. No. Fai shook his head dismissing the thought. There's no doubt. Kuro-puu's eyes are red.

That's right.

"Kuro doesn't even have black eyes. What was I even thinking?" He exhaled, recalling the emotionless black iris that seemed to stare right into his soul.

"That's right. It must have been a dream." Fai confirmed his own hypothesis. Only people of the Yasha camp has black eyes.

What was he thinking? He must have mixed up Kuro and the men that had been coming to the cell.

Groaning slightly, Fai pushed himself off the bed into a sitting position. He winced at the sudden pressure at the shift in his weight. His bottom felt raw and sore but mostly numb.

"Why didn't you try to escape?"

"Such a useless piece of shit."

"No wonder no one wants you."

A shiver ran down his spine as goose bumps spread over his arms. A sense of sadness and self-pity gushed over him. He let himself drown in the surging feelings for a moment before shaking himself out of his negative thoughts.

That's not true. He wasn't useless and somebody wants him.. right? Yes. The kids need him. They need his protection. That's right. He mustn't let these feelings get to him.

"Ouch!" A loud slapping sound echoed in the silence of the room as his hand landed on his cheeks.

Immediately, the hand that just slapped his face ran back to his face to sooth the stinging pain at this cheeks. He had slapped himself in the face to remind himself...

He had to remind himself of the pain reality can cause. And of course to wake himself up.

This is reality.

He had to make sure his wasn't a dream. He had been drifting in and out of reality and his nightmares, long enough to lose track of things. But so far, waking up to this room was one of the constant things that had been happening.

So he could be sure this is definitely the reality.

Even though he secretly wished it wasn't... But the truth is, he's stuck here.. Being treated as a sex slave.

"Why didn't you try to escape?"

Those words rang in his ears. Kuro-tan was right. He hadn't tried to escape since he came to this place. Not after the first time he woke up in this place. He should get out of here as soon as possible. And he needed to get out of these cuffs before..

Eh?

Where did the cuffs go?

Suddenly realizing the shackles that had been bounded to his foot was gone, a sense of hope jiggled slight inside him as he planned his escape route.

He's not gonna wait for Kurogane to save him.

That was when he heard the sounds of metal chain rattling before the lock click on the outside.

xXx

"I'm cleaning him up. So stop grumbling! You'll have your turn soon!" The skinny but toned male of around twenty snapped as he passed by the grudging queue who had been annoyed by the sudden stop to the service.

Service. The word sound so ironical. He wasn't offering his body for the service, he's not getting a single cent from all the money Shozu had been getting for whoring him.

His thoughts ran to the sole figure lying all broken four stories below and those grudging feelings instantly disappeared.

A sigh escaped from his lips and he headed downwards. This job of guarding the cell and collecting money was just lame. He had no idea why these men would queue hours just to get 10 mins in the cell. What's so good about a hard body with no boobs?

He just couldn't understand. The guys are probably too sex-deprived and that any hole their member could fit would suffice.

Fujisawa shook his head slightly as he opened the gates to renter the cell.

The boy had called upon it himself to get the short end of Shozu-sama nerves. But then again, it may not have been his fault entirely. He probably didn't want to be born with such a pretty face.

xXx

Fai tried to stand up. A sharp ache shot through his spine and he lost his balance for a second.

Biting his lips, he willed his legs to hold on to his weight and forced himself to stand up. A trickle of sweat drip down his temple.

Very quickly, he hobbled forward and stood by the side of the door. A small smile flashed across his face. It'll be the gatekeeper's fault for unchaining him. Now he'll have his chance to escape!

Slowly the door creaked open a delicious smell of food spread to his nose.

Was it time for meal?

Fai could not remember when was the last time he had something to eat. It had been so long.

Leaning as close to the wall as possible, Fai tried his best to prevent the metal door from hitting him. His stomach growl silently as the smell of food tempted him to reveal his whereabouts.

"しまった!" An urgent cry sounded as the door swung open to its fullest.

Fai watched as a figure rushed forward into the room, straight to the bed where he had just gotten up from. With a small smile, he slowly slid out from behind the door and sneaked out through the opened door.

Yes! He's free!

He wanted to run out immediately but his wobbly legs could not possibly bear the burden. The ache in his back was still prominent.

Bright light flooded his eyes making him squint. A huge hallway met his eyes the moment the brightness cleared enough for his eyes to take in the surroundings.

It was a straight corridor with only a door leading out at the end on both side. That's bad news. A pang of fear hit Fai at that thought. He had to get out of sight. Fast... before the gatekeeper turn around and find him at the door. There's no way he could outrun him in his current conditions.

Very vaguely, he could hear muffled sounds coming from the door straight ahead. It sounded like a bunch of people had gathered in an area beyond it.

Fai turned to the hallway on his right. It seemed to disappear into the darkness. There's no choice, it's the only way out. It obvious that if he went straight ahead, he'll have to fight his way out. But given his current condition, there's no way he'll win. He'll just end up getting captured and thrown back into the cell.

So right it is. With much effort, Fai moved forward, heading towards the darkness. He had no idea where it might lead, but it's a gamble he had to take.

Fai hobbled a few steps forward, trying his best to move as fast as he could. But he only took a few steps before a familiar voice from behind stopped him from going forward.

"Well, well.. What have we got here."

It sent chills down his spine. Those words.. So familiar yet so foreign. These days all he had been hearing had been grunts and huffs. The fact those words actually make sense.. Fai did not have to turn around to know who was behind him.

His entire body seemed to freeze at that instant, his blood chilled as a shiver ran up his spine.

"Where do you think you're going?"

A sharp pain hit the mark upon his neck before coursing through his body. His hands snapped to his neck, covering the area. The distinct triangle mark on his neck seemed to have swelled over the days and had protruded out to a certain depth.

"Were you trying to escape?"

A second sharp pain shot through the mark down his neck before diminishing over the distance. To be honest, the aching had been troubling him.

"Shozu-sama! ごめんなさい!あいつ。。" A dishevelled and panicked voice reached his ears.

"It's ok. You can go."

His head snapped backwards at Shozu's reply. Huh?

"しかし。。"Sounds of protest reached his ears before a muffled growl of acceptance came back.

"Tell everyone to leave. The party's over."

Fai could feel a look of concern thrown over in his direction before the gatekeeper turned to leave.

"Now, where were we?" Shozu smirked as his attention returned to the blonde.

Suddenly realising the abnormality of what just happened, Fai's eyes widened in surprise. The conversation had shed some light to what was going on. He could not understand whatever the gatekeeper was saying but every single word coming out of Shozu's mouth.. He understood.

It was not as though the man was speaking his language. The sounds coming from the conversation was the same. But those that came from the gatekeeper while those from Shozu manifested as words. Words that he understood.

A pang of horror crawled up his back. That's not normal. Especially in this place where people are not known to magic.

This man is bad news.

He had to run.

Run legs run!

But his feet remained stuck to the ground.

Gripping his thighs, Fai stared at his wobbly legs which was barely even standing. Please move! He pleaded as he lunged forward, willing his feet to carry him as far away from the man as possible.

Despite all his urging, his legs felt as heavy as lead, dragging him down. Mustering all his strength, Fai hurled his entire body forward. But it only resulted in him taking two pathetic steps away from the man he so wanted to run away from.

"It's no use you know."

His eyes only registered a smirk before his vision suddenly blurred. An oppressing force bored down on him, making his knees buckle.

The next thing he knew, he was already lying face flat on the floor with an invisible force holding him in place. Out of the corner of his eyes, he noticed a certain red light flickering in the darkness of the corridor. He remembered this glow..

The voice which had been talking was getting louder and louder. He could feel a heavy breath above of him as a shadow casted over him.

"You can't escape."

Then a cold fat finger landed on the side of his face, tracing downwards. Squinting his eyes shut, Fai shuddered uncontrollably.

A shiver ran up his spine at his touch. Then the familiar burning sensation hit him, trailing the path the fat finger had took seconds ago.

How?

He had no idea why or how, but an unknown feeling of despair and fear seemed to grip him whether he saw the man.

"Now that you have this."

Then the fat finger reached the triangular scar he had sustained two days ago.

The red glow suddenly grew brighter engulfing him in it's warmth..

No. It's definitely not warmth. It's flame.

All of a sudden, his brain ceased to perform any form of data processing. It was as though a bucket of ice cold water had been thrown over his head preventing him from thinking.

The pain on his neck intensified to almost an unbearable level, leaving him wide-eyed, mouth hanging from a scream which was unable to escape from the depth of his throat.

IT HURTS.

HOT.

IT'S BURNING.

Fai felt as though millions of burning insects had swarmed over him, all heading towards his neck and then one by one, each bug enter his body through that one spot.

Those blue eyes shot open unseeing as his hands shot up to his neck, scratching the spot in exasperation in attempt to remove those imaginary bugs.

His nails sank into his skin, clawing. At first only red marks of scratches appeared. But soon those delicate skin of his broke and blood begun to ooze out from his neck, staining his nails red.

A chuckle reached his ears as words he could not understand flowed from Shozu's mouth. He felt his body flipped to face upwards. But it wasn't Shozu's face which he saw.

A familiar face came into his view which made his blood run cold. He had definitely seen his face before. His mind ran back to a few days ago when he woke up in the cell..

But his brain had no time to process all these. Fai's body jolt up in shock as the attack doubled its intensity on his body.

As though someone had lid a fire and pressed it into the particular spot on his neck, his neck now burned with a flame deep into his skin. It dug right down into the depths of his body, clawing its way through his arteries and veins, spreading the fire through his body.

Instead of clawing at just the spot on his neck, his hands now ran frantically all across his body, scratching every part of his torso. But no matter how he hard he tried, he could not remove the burning sensation of the bugs crawling underneath his skin.

Disgusting.

Beads of cold sweat begun to form Fai's forehead as he struggled against the torture on his body. A darkness spread across those blue eyes as the pupils dilated in to an impossible width.

"Now.. Let me harvest some of your blood.."

He gave a knowing nod and a flash of light accompanied the movement of a blade in the dim light of the hallway.

Red blood begun to spill from the wound on the pale pallid skin of a certain blonde head. The blue eyes which was unseeing now slowly fluttered shut I tot unconsciousness.

Slowly, a tall figure bent down and collected the blood into a small glass bottle. The face remained composed and emotionless as red liquid drip drop by drop into the transparent container.

When it's filled to the brim, the man stood up to pass it over to the fat man. Shozu picked the bottle of red liquid up, eyeing it casually.

"This will do for now."

A small smile spread across the almost disfigured fat man's face.

"You did well, Rikkudo."

"Throw him back into the cell."

Slowly he swirled the liquid in the bottle, chanting a series of words that sounded foreign.

The triangular scar on the unmoving body on the ground begun to glow in a gentle shade of red. As spell continued, the glow increased with intensity. The body trashed violently throughout the spell incantation.

When the spell was over, it flopped back on the ground, the pale skin glistened with a layer of sweat as though the blonde had been continuously running for the past hour.

Shozu gave the bottle another shake and opened the bottle cap to reveal the blood red liquid which was now glowing gently.

With one hand, he reached into his pocket and took out the ring which was emitting a diminishing red glow. It consisted of upside down triangle made of an unknown black metal encasing a small red stone in its middle.

The small stone in the middle begun to glow brighter in reaction to the blood in the bottle which he had just collected from Fai. The hallway now glowed in a bright red light, illuminating even those areas which was once covered in shadows.

Slowly, Shozu emptied the contents of the bottle into the small stone. The first drop which landed on the stone lingered on its surface for a brief moment before it seeped right into the centre.

With each subsequent drop, the absorption became faster. Black eyes watched as the stone sucked up every drop of blood greedily, yearning for the next to come.

When the last drop enter into the stone, it glowed with an impossible brightness, emitting a harsh cruel radiance.

"Now, the meeting's about to start. Watch over Kinomoto. Go offer your help if the situation requires." The tall man of big build nodded slightly, listening to the command given.

"Oh. One more thing. I will recommend you for the expedition during the meeting."

Those black eyes stare into the distance, his mind piecing up the loose place. With each passing second, each chess piece click into place.

"When the time is right, get rid of him."

"I understand, master. Your wish is my command." The man, Rikkudo bowed gently before turning around to leave.

The red glow upon the ring shone with a bright glow like it has never been before.

A/N:

Oh my. Another chapter of angst D: sorry if it's too much to handle. I'm moderating it so it's not too overbearing already but just bear with it for a while k. All these chapters are crucial to Fai's mental state. You can refer Chapter 10-14 but in Fai's perspective. It explains how Fai got the wounds Kuro discovered in Chapter 17 and some hints on what's Shozu's up to.

Jenmoon1 and IasonM: Glad to hear from you guys again! Sorry it took me so long to continue this story.. So here's the new update! :D (Though i have a feeling this chapter will end up making u want for more LOL)

Guest: Sorry this chapter didn't turn out to be as long as i want it to be.. i realised i can't churn out so many words in just a week. :( It takes time for me to organise the story and write it. I got such a huge inertia to start the next chapter when i just finish the current one. But I'll try to write as long as i can!

Reviews? :)
