* In Yuki's Room. *
"What... Is this...?" Yuki says as she reviewed the contents of the letter.
The contents of the letter:
Don't you remember?
Yuki notices that inside the envelope there's another piece of paper. She places the letter on her desk and pulls the piece of paper out. It wasn't another letter; it was a picture.
In the picture, there were nine kids looking at the camera.
Yuki looks at the children's faces and she notices her face in the center of the picture. Her eyes widen as she stared at the younger version of herself.
"Is... This me...!?" Yuki asks as she stares at the picture. "... But... There's no way that's me... I was always in a hospital bed when I was younger..."
The younger version of Yuki was smiling at the camera with eight different children standing on either side of her.
Yuki then shook her head in denial as she crumpled the picture, letter, and envelope in her hands. She then ran out of her room, heading towards the lounge - the room where Reiji introduced the Sakamaki brothers' on the first day when Yui and Yuki arrived at the Sakamaki.
~ Meanwhile ~
Yui was just about to enter her room, until she heard noises coming from the adjacent room. She walked towards the adjacent room and gingerly pushed the door open, making it creak. She peeked into room and noticed it had many things that a scientist's lab would have; lab equipment and many different plants placed along the wall in the room.
* In the Laboratory Room. *
On one side of the room, Yui spotted Reiji sitting on his chair, moaning in his sleep. His glasses were on the small coffee table in front of him, his legs were crossed, and a book laid opened on his lap.
Reiji wore a grey vest with a black one over a white dress shirt. He wears it with black pants and a black belt. He's also wearing a white glove on his right hand.
Yui walked closer to him and saw how his eyebrows furrowed as he slept.
He must be having a nightmare... Yui thought as she unconsciously placed her hand on his shoulder.
"What are you doing here?" Reiji asked sharply as he opened his eyes.
Yui pulled her hand back and placed her hands on her chest.
"Pardon me." Yui apologized.
"I can't believe I was actually woken up by the smell of your blood."
"I'm sorry." Yui apologized, again.
Reiji sat up straighter, uncrossed his legs and closed the book on his lap.
"It's far preferable to the nightmare I was having." Reiji mumbled as he looked away, but then looked up at Yui. "So, can I help you?" He asked.
Yui looked down.
"I came because I heard you moaning." Yui answered.
Reiji reached for his glasses and put them on, pushing the bridge up.
"Please wait a moment. I will make tea." Reiji stated as he stood up and walked away to make tea.
Once the tea was brewed, he set the tea on the coffee table and sat back down on the chair. He then picked the tea cup up and sipped the hot drink.
Yui stood quietly as Reiji drank his tea.
"Um, I..." Yui spoke, but was interrupted by Reiji.
He placed the cup back on its coaster and opened his book, placing it on his lap.
"I have completely neglected to inform you of your own position." Reiji explained, making Yui confused to what he meant. "However, I did not imagine it required explanation. Did you honestly believe I would make tea for you? Please stop being so conceited. It is very presumptuous. I will allow you to enjoy the aroma."
Yui stared at him silently until she changed the subject.
"So, this must be your laboratory." Yui said as she looked around the room. "Does anyone else use it?"
Yui started to walk around the room.
"Like maybe Shu?" She guessed.
"Just hearing that name makes my ear feel unclean." Reiji hissed as his eyes narrowed.
Yui turned around and looked at Reiji.
"Why do you hate him so much?" She asked.
"You do not need to know that." Reiji replied as he stood up, walking over to the large windows in the room.
He then started to recall a memory... A memory of watching his mother and Shu from the hallway window. After remembering the memory, he turns around.
"I will make an exception and I will share my tea with you." Reiji said as he prepared the tea.
As he prepared it, he told Yui to sit down and she obeyed. He held the tea cup to Yui.
"Be my guest." Reiji said, handing the tea to Yui who took it in her hands.
"Thank you so much." Yui said as she held the tea in front of her, then raised the cup to her lips, drinking the liquid.
Reiji watched as Yui drank the tea, but she released the tea cup and covered her mouth. The tea cup fell to the ground, breaking the cup, and coaster, spilling the tea on the floor.
Reiji then turned around and headed to the table in the room - where he did his work at.
"Wh... What!?" Yui choked.
"There is no need to worry. It will not endanger your life." Reiji explained as he read his book, then closed it. "However, I don't like how it has made you numb."
He walked over to where Yui was and lifted her chin up.
"I will have to make it all over again." He said to himself as he opened Yui's mouth. "Now drink this."
He poured a drop of the antidote into her mouth and released her chin.
Yui swallows it, but falls to the floor, on top of the glass shards and cuts her hand.
"It is impolite to cough so openly." Reiji scolded. "What is wrong with you? Things that have been broken must be cleaned up immediately."
Yui sits up slowly. She looked at Reiji then at her bleeding hand.
Then her hand was pulled away from her and Yui looked at Reiji - who knelt on the ground.
"I don't want you to have the wrong impression. Much like this cup. I have no interest in things with imperfections. That is true." Reiji explained as Yui listened quietly. "However, you infuse the air with such a sweet aroma."
Reiji licked Yui's bleeding palm once and his eyes widened.
"What is this?" He muttered.
Releasing Yui's hand, he stood up and faced away from her. He stood there silently and Yui sat on the ground, not moving.
"I have soiled myself with your blood." Reiji spoke as he took his glove off.
"But that's not my fault..." Yui rejected.
"I do not wish to hear your excuses." Reiji said sharply. "On your feet."
Yui stood up and looked at Reiji - who turned around. His eyes glowed, showing hunger from the smell of blood. Fear crept into Yui as she backed up slowly, but was pushed against the bookshelf by Reiji. One of his hands on her shoulders.
"Reiji..." Yui called. "Please don't!"
Reiji placed his other hand on Yui's jaw line and tilted it up, then to the side.
"Who in the world will hear you when you scream?"
Yui squeezed her eyes shut.
"No!"
"Mortals are nothing but containers of blood. Despite your condition as a worthless container, I wish to give you more pleasure than anyone." Reiji explained. "Here."
He pierced his fangs into Yui's neck and started to drink her blood. The hand that was placed on her jaw line had been moved to place against the shelf.
Yui raised her hand up and pushed one of Reiji's hand away, trying to make him to stop drinking which succeeded.
"Stop it!" Yui shouted.
Reiji slammed his hand against the bookshelf and Yui flinched. His face was close to Yui as he spoke.
"Know your place, human. I will not tolerance disobedience!"
He then grabbed the wrist with the bleeding hand and raised it higher than her height. He squeezed her wrist tightly.
"Learn to fear me, more and more! Shall I bandage your wound? I will bind it so tightly that your blood flow will be cut off, and your hand will rot and fall off at the wrist."
Reiji smiled wickedly at Yui's pained expression.
"How will you scream then? The very idea makes me feel happy."
The pain was too much for Yui and her knees go limp from under her.
"Your face will distort from remorse and regret. You will suffer, and finally, crying and screaming... You will die!" Reiji said.
He then started to recall another memory. A memory of when he was standing above his mother - who laid on the field covered in blood.
"So, I have finally..." Reiji's mother said as she stared at her second son. "Witnessed your abilities with my own eyes." She said with a bit struggle. "I always held on to the hope... That the one to kill me... Would be you. I am satisfied."
Reiji's mother smiles as her life finally fades away from her body.
"You would die smiling in the end?" Reiji asked. "No. I will not allow it. I cannot allow it! I have no intention of giving you, my mother, a peaceful death! How could I be expected to be allowed of such a thing?" He asked his dead mother.
Reiji then comes out from the memory and stares at Yui. He kneels down and wraps his arm around her waist, pulling her closer to him.
"I will not allow it." Reiji says as he bites Yui.
* In the lounge. *
Yuki had started to fire in the fireplace and she hesitated whether she should burn the letter or not. She sat on the ground, in front of the fire, and blankly stared at the burning flames. Yuki then throws the letter into the flames and she hugged her knees close to her chest, watching the letter burn.
Once Yuki saw the ashes from the letter, she put out the fire and walked out of the room.
* In the Hallways. *
Yuki walked through the hallways, heading to the room where she found her father's diary. As she was on her way there, she saw one of the Sakamaki brothers sitting on the window ledge, looking out the window.
"Subaru," Yuki called as she walked closer to him. "Moon-viewing?"
"No." Subaru answered, continuing to look out the window.
Yuki had nothing else to talk about, so she walked past him. Subaru made no effort in stopping Yuki and just let her go.
* In the Room Where the Diary was Found. *
Yuki opened the door and closed it as she entered the room. She walked towards the dresser with a mirror, and on the table were many different jewels.
Yuki then looked up at the mirror and she didn't see her reflection. What Yuki saw was a woman with long purple hair, wearing a black-colored dress. The woman's eyes were covered with her bangs.
The woman's lips curled into a smile as she raised her hands up, reaching for Yuki's neck. Yuki jerked back and when she looked into the mirror once again, she could see her own reflection and not the purple-haired woman.
"I must be hallucinating... But, who was she...?" Yuki asked as she stared at her reflection. "She seemed really familiar... But I don't remember ever meeting her in my life..." She trailed off as she stared into the mirror.
Suddenly, Yuki's eyes widened as she her head started to throb. Yuki collapsed to the floor as she held her head in her hands.
"... It... Hurts..." Yuki mumbled as tears started to form in her eyes. "N... o... No... Stop... It hurts...!" She screamed and she fainted from the unbearable pain.
The door had slammed open and it was the youngest brother out of the triplets, Ayato. He saw Yuki on the floor and curses under his tongue. He walked over to her and picked her up - bridal style. He leaves the room and mutters something under his breath.
"When you wake up, you better thank Yours Truly for carrying you back to your room..."
