~ The Next Day ~
* At school. In Yuki's classroom. *
Today - or rather tonight - the teacher had written on the board: STUDY HALL; basically, free time.
There were a few people in class who were actually studying and others who were just on their phones.
Yuki got up from her seat and walked out of the classroom. She wanted some peace and the only place was either the roof, or the music room. She checked the roof and saw a few people. She sighed and headed to the music room.
* In the Music Room. *
Yuki slid the door open and peeked into the room. She then stepped inside, closing the door behind her and walked towards the couch on the far side of the room. She held her breath as she looked over the back of the couch, expecting a certain vampire to be sleeping... But surprisingly, he wasn't there.
Yuki smiled as she walked over to the piano, sitting on the chair. She touched the piano cover and lifted it, revealing black and white keys. Her fingers touched the keys and she pressed down on a white key.
The note resonated within the room as Yuki inhaled and began playing pieces that she remembered from memory.
Yuki played a piece after a piece, until she decided to take a break. She removed her fingers from the piano and stretched her arms out. After stretching a bit, her hands fell to her sides.
"Oh? I didn't know you could play..." Someone whispered against Yuki's ear, his breath was cold.
Yuki flinched from his whisper as she recognized whose voice it was as she gently closed the piano cover.
"Hi, Shu... And yeah, but only a little- Yuki answered as she looked behind her shoulder.
Her eyes widened as her face was only a few inches from his.
This seemed to have surprised the vampire as well, his eyes widened only a little, but then closed as he pulled back to stand up straight.
He then fixed his earbuds with his eyes closed and Yuki stood up, pushing the chair back under the piano.
"... Um..." Yuki spoke as Shu opened an eye, looking at Yuki. "What are you listening...?"
Shu looks at Yuki silently, then took one of his earbuds out, handing it to Yuki.
"... Thanks..." Yuki said as she took the earbud and inserted it into her ear.
Her face immediately turns red and pulls the earbud out, handing it back to Shu.
What Yuki heard from the earbud were... Women moaning, not music.
"W-what kind of m-music... I-is this...!?" Yuki asks, flustered as Shu took the earbud back, inserting it back into his ear.
A smile appeared on Shu's face.
"I find women singing in ecstasy is just as good as any rondo by Stravinsky..." He answers.
"I see..." Yuki said as she headed to the door. "... See you later..."
Yuki's vision suddenly blurred and she lost her footing, falling into Shu's arms.
"Sorry..." Yuki gasped as she tried to push herself away from his arms, but she felt her conscience fading.
Huh...? Yuki thought as she fainted.
* In a bedroom. *
Yuki opened her eyes slowly as she looks around, trying to figure out where she was. She saw a short flight of stairs, few windows, a sette with a small, round table, a desk with a chair, a fan on the ceiling, a lamp next to the desk, and a wall candle next to the windows.
"It's hot..." Yuki mumbled as tossed the covers off her body and felt something heavy on her head. "... A wet towel...? Oh, yeah... I guess I caught a small fever..."
Yuki's eyelids felt heavy as she closed her eyes, going back to sleep without evening knowing where she was.
~ A While Later ~
Yuki opens her eyes again, only to notice that the bed covers were pulled up, covering her body and someone sitting on a chair, next to the bed. It was Shu and he clicked his tongue.
"... You woke up." Shu said.
"W-where am I...?" Yuki asked, trying to remember what happened.
"You don't remember...?"
"No..."
"Ugh... You fainted. Then you developed a fever..."
I did...? Huh? My forehead... Is this... A cold, wet towel...? Yuki thought.
"It's troublesome to the master, that takes some courage, Yuki." Shu said with a smirk.
"Eh...!?" Yuki said in surprise.
"Um..." Yuki coughed, choking. "I-I'm sorry..." She apologized.
"What... Choking so suddenly." Shu said.
"It's... It's because I was surprised..."
Shu then removed the wet, cold towel and placed his hand on Yuki's forehead.
Ah... Shu's hand is on my forehead... Yuki thought as she blushed.
"The fever hasn't come down yet..." He said.
"Um, Shu... Thank you, but you should probably move back a little or else you might catch my fever..."
Shu removed his hand from her head and placed the towel back.
"You're foolish. I am... A vampire." He then sat on the bed, placing one arm on the other side of where he sat, staring down at the weak human. "... Don't move. Lay there and be still. Completely..."
Yuki blushed as she tried to think of a way to escape, but the fever was making her weak and unable to think straight.
"B-but..." Yuki protested.
"Just obey me... Damn it..." He sighed in frustration. "... Something is wrong. To such a woman... Sucking blood attacks desire..." He groaned. "... Also consider this. Your blood wants to be sucked to cure my unbearable thirst. Even when I press down sucking your blood, you don't say a word."
"Do you want me to suck the virus out of your blood...?" Shu asked Yuki as he leaned close to her neck.
Yuki then thought that she would change the subject, divert his attention on something else. Nothing came up, but then she remembered about a boy named "Edgar".
"Who's 'Edgar'...?" Yuki asked as Shu looked at Yuki. "Ah, sorry... It's wasn't my business-"
Shu sighed and Yuki went silent.
"For me, he was a close friend... That guy, Edgar..." Shu said. "To begin with, it affected me for a long time. A vampire shouldn't have been involved with a human... Even if it repeats many times, you cant help but notice... I was an idiot. How many times, how many times... I've lost something important to me. All in all, simply because of me."
"Shu..." Yuki said.
"Therefore, I learned from it. I shouldn't get involved with anybody or anything..." He finished and Yuki reached for his hand, tangling her fingers around his.
"Thanks for telling me..."
Shu stared at his hand that was intertwined with Yuki's.
"... What? Do you sympathize with me? Touching my hand." Shu said and Yuki shook her head.
"No... Just that... I wanted to hold Shu's hand..." Yuki answered.
"... Heh. That's sort of depressing. Also, your hands, they're hot and unpleasant." He remarked, not releasing her hand. "The heat of a human... Is unfamiliar after all..."
Yuki's warm hand against Shu's cold hand had comforted her and she slowly went back to sleep.
~ A Few Days Later ~
Yuki had finally cured her fever and sickness. She thanked Shu for taking care of her and he just told her not to get sick again because its a pain. She giggles at his words and she nodded. She stretched her arms as she headed to the her room.
* In Yuki's room. *
I feel like its been forever since I've been in here... Yuki thought as she grabbed her mp3 - that she found buried in her suitcase - and left the room, heading outside for some fresh air.
* Outside, near forest. *
Yuki listened to music as she enjoyed the night air while walking by the forest. She then sees something white sitting on the ground, a few feet away from where she stood.
"Oh, you're the wolf from the other day!" Yuki said as she bent her knees, extending her hand towards the beast. "Come here."
The wolf walked towards to Yuki and sniffed her hand, then nudged its head against her hand. She smiled at the action and she petted his head.
"Aren't you a nice one... Your fur is quite beautiful as well."
The wolf sat down as Yuki stroked its head while giggling a bit.
"Jeez, Ren! You always do that when you want me to continue petting you!" Yuki said as she stopped and looked at the wolf, confused to why she just said that. "Who's 'Ren'...? Why did I suddenly say that...?"
Then, the wolf got up and disappearing into the forest.
"Ah... He left..." Yuki mumbled as she sighed and headed back to the Sakamaki Manor. "I wonder who 'Ren' is... I feel like I know him, but I don't remember..."
* In Yuki's Room. *
After Yuki returned from her walk, she went to take a shower. Then, she returned to her room, taking out a book and climbing into her bed to read.
Just as she finished reading Alice's fall down the really deep hole, her bedroom door slammed open.
"Hey, Candy!" Ayato shouted as he barged into Yuki's room.
"Ayato... Can't you knock before you enter...?" Yuki said as she closed her book, placing it on her lap.
"Shut up! Make me some takoyaki right now." Ayato said.
"Huh? Takoyaki?"
"Now, I'm so damn hungry! Come on, pick up the pace!"
Yuki sighed as she slid out of bed, placing the book on her bed and walked towards the door, passing Ayato.
"Let's go. I'll make you some, but don't complain if they aren't good." Yuki said as she headed towards the kitchen.
* In the Kitchen. *
As Yuki flipped the takoyaki balls over, she noticed that the vampire who requested - or demanded - the takoyaki was nowhere to be seen. She sighed as she gently took the finished takoyaki on a plate. She drizzled from takoyaki sauce and mayonnaise on top; then sprinkled bonito flakes and aonori over. She took out three wooden toothpicks and pierced them into three takoyaki balls.
"Oh! They're done!" Ayato said from behind Yuki - who flinched from his sudden arrival.
"Here you go." Yuki said as she stepped aside, letting Ayato stand in front of the plate of takoyakis'.
Ayato grabbed one pick and ate the takoyaki ball. He had to open his mouth the cool it, but once it cooled, he closed his mouth, chewing on the last bits and swallowed. He grinned in satisfaction.
"Yum!" Ayato said. "Have some!"
"Thanks..." Yuki said as she grabbed one toothpick and ate the takoyaki balls.
Her eyes widened at their taste.
"You're right..." Yuki said after swallowing her food.
"See?" Ayato said as he continued to devour the takoyakis'.
Yuki nodded as she moved away, towards the sink to wash the dishes she used.
After washing the dishes, she turned around to see Ayato gone and the plate - that had a lot of takoyaki balls - was empty. She picked up the plate and washed it.
Finally finishing the dishes, she headed back to her room.
* In Yuki's room. *
Yuki opened the door and entered the room, only to see a red-headed vampire sleeping on her bed. She closed the door quietly and walked over to him.
Once she was close to him, she heard mumbling sounds. She leaned closer to Ayato, finally able to distinguish his mumbling words.
"Mhm... Tako.. Yaki... Takoyaki..." Ayato mumbled.
Yuki giggled at his sleep talk and carefully pulled the covers over his body. She knew that the brothers would say that it isn't needed, but they weren't her parents. Then Yuki leaned over him to grab her book. She had safely managed to not wake up the sleeping vampire. She walked over to her desk, sitting on the chair and opening to the page where she left off.
"'Alice was not a bit hurt, and she jumped up on to her feet in a moment: she looked up, but it was all dark overhead: before her was another long passage, and the White Rabbit was still in sight, hurrying down it. There was not a moment to be lost: away went Alice like the wind, and was just in time to hear it say, as it turned a corner, "Oh my ears and whiskers, how late it's getting!" She was close behind it when she turned the corner, but the Rabbit was no longer to be seen: she found herself in a long, low hall, which was lit up by a row of lamps hanging from the roof.'" Yuki read quietly, but held her breath as she heard the bed move.
Yuki looked behind her shoulder to see Ayato fast asleep and she released her breath in relief. She turned her attention back on her book as she skipped some pages; skipping to the part where Alice meets the Mad Hatter, the March Hare, and the Dormouse.
"'There was a table set out under a tree in front of the house, and the March Hare and the Hatter were having at it: a Dormouse was sitting between them, fast asleep, and the other two were using it as a cushion, resting their elbows on it, and talking over its head. "Very uncomfortable for the Dormouse," thought Alice; "only as it's asleep, I suppose it doesn't mind."'"
Yuki yawned as she felt sleepy. She closed the book and placed her arms folded on her desk, then rested her head on them. She closed her eyes and went to sleep.
Disclaimer: I don't own the story "Alice in Wonderland".
A/N: Sorry for such a short chapter!
