~ Yuki's Dream ~
By the time I had opened my eyes, I was in a dark, dim cell. I couldn't move. My body numb from the pain.
As I lie on the floor, my blood pooling from my wound to the floor, I kept telling myself that my brother would find me. My cheek felt wet from being stained by my blood that pooled out under me from my wound. I started to remember the pain from a few hours ago... My wing being ripped from my back... The pain was unbearable...
Then, I heard the door open and my eyes widened.
They're here... Please not my other wing...
I heard the cell door clang open. There were two of them and one came over to me, holding down my hands and feet. He unsheathed a dagger and cut my clothes, revealing my bare back.
What are they doing?
"Ready?" He asked his partner.
"Yeah- Do it quick."
Before I could understand what they meant, I felt a searing pain in between of where my wing(s) unfurl, right between my shoulder blades. I screamed out in pain.
They're branding me!
"It's done, remove it." The man holding me down ordered.
The other man removed the branding iron from my back and I heard a faint sizzle.
"Let's go."
They left me, leaving the dungeons. Tears brimmed my eyes as they slowly fell down my face to the floor, mixing itself with the blood. I whimpered silently while calling my brother's name. Repeating it over and over...
* In Yuki's room. *
Yuki's eyes snapped open, a drop of sweat rolled down her face.
"Yuki? Are you all right?"
Yuki turned her head slowly to the edge of her bed and saw her sister, Yui, who had a worried look on her face.
"Yui..." Yuki called as she calmed herself down. Then, she slowly sat up as she she asked: "... What happened?"
"You were gone for two hours, so Reiji sent Subaru to look for you. Subaru said he found on the rooftop sleeping and carried you home." Yui explained. "Did something happen?" She asked, her hand reaching for Yuki's.
Yuki's eyes met her sister's, then looked away, gently pulling her hand away from her sister's hold.
Oh right... I still can't believe it...
"Um... I was talking with some friends at school and I probably fell asleep, wanting to take a nap before walking home." Yuki lied, guilt filled her. "I guess I accidentally lost track of time. Sorry, Yui..."
Yui stared at Yuki, not full convinced that her younger sister's words were true.
"...Is that all?" She asked.
"Yeah."
Yui let out a small breath of relief and got up, walking to the door. She smiled at her sister before leaving the room.
Yuki waited a few minutes before sliding out of her bed, and grabbed her clothes that she will change into. Then, she left her room, heading to the bathroom.
* In the bathroom. *
Yuki stripped her uniform off her body and tossed it on the floor, making a small hill. She took her undergarments and placed them on top of the small hill of clothes. Then she filled the tub with water and entered it. The hot-warm water touched her skin and Yuki made herself comfortable inside the bath.
"... They're just tricking you, Yuki. You are human." She mumbled as she sank into the tub a bit, the surface of the water touched her chin. Doubt crept into her mind. Where's the proof...? It's not like I've got any wings to begin with... I have a scar on my back though, but Father said that when I was born, that scar was already there... Was he lying to me?
Just as Yuki became lost in her thoughts, the door slammed open and Yuki snapped out of her thoughts, looking to see who was at the door. Her eyes widened as she saw Ayato staring at her. He smirked and Yuki blushed as she used her hands to cover her chest.
"W-What are you doing in here for, A-Ayato?" Yuki asked as Ayato closed the door and walked over to Yuki. He knelt in front of the tub.
"Quite the body you got there, Candy." Ayato remarked, earning himself a flustered Yuki. "Bigger than your sister's."
Yuki blushed even more. "P-Please leave..."
Ayato's smirk disappeared as he reached for Yuki's hands, grabbing her wrist.
"You're still a bit too early to tell Yours Truly what to do," he warned.
Yuki's eyes were filled with fear as Ayato yanked her towards him, out the tub. She almost tripped over the tub, but Ayato had yanked her too hard so she avoided falling to the ground. Her body pressed against his, making his outfit wet which didn't seem to bother him. Ayato then spun her around, her back facing him. He released her arm.
"Stay still," he ordered.
Yuki nodded in response and he parted her wet, long, blonde hair, revealing a scar on her right shoulder blade with a insignia that was branded in between her shoulder blades. His eyes narrowed.
"Where'd you get this?" Ayato asked.
"... I don't know..."
Ayato clicked his tongue in annoyance.
"Why do you ask?" Yuki asked.
Instead of an answer, Ayato moved Yuki's hair to one side and tilted her head, piercing her neck. She gasped in pain as he drank her blood. Ayato removed his fangs from her neck and used a hand to cover her eyes, tilting her head back now. He leaned in close, his breath tickling her ear and then he kissed her neck.
"Ayato?" Yuki called, confused by his actions. "What are you-"
"Be quiet." He hissed. "You belong to me, your blood, your heart, your body, your soul, your everything."
Ayato released Yuki and left.
Yuki's legs gave out and she fell to the floor. Her cheeks were warm from his words.
"What's with him!? Did he hit his head or something?" She muttered, flustered.
Yuki got up and wiped her body dry, then changing into the clothes. She grabbed her clothes and headed back to her room.
* In Yuki's room. *
Yuki entered her room and her eyes widened when she saw the disaster in her room.
"What..." Yuki said as she walked over to her desk, setting her clothes on it. She looked around in her room. "Just... What happened?"
All the furniture in Yuki's room were overturned and destroyed to pieces. Her curtains were ripped, the chair overturned and the broken window's glass were scattered on the ground and the bed. She runs out of her bedroom and goes over to check Yui's room.
Yui wasn't in her room, so Yuki had to open the door and peek in. Her room was in perfect order. Yuki's eyes furrowed in confusion as she headed back to her room.
That's weird... Yui's room wasn't destroyed, so why was mine? Yuki looked around the room, seeing if there was any hint into someone breaking in. There doesn't seem to be any sign of someone breaking in. Should I take this to the police? But, Reiji had told me not to take anything to the police... She sighed. I guess I'll have to clean this up myself.
Yuki continues to wonder why only her room was destroyed. Suddenly, she hears someone chuckle and say: "The damage in this room is extreme." Yuki turns around in surprise to see Subaru, leaning against the wall near the door, his arms crossed.
"Why are you here, Subaru?" Yuki asks. He sounds like he's in a good mood. "I'm sorry for the untidy state of things right now."
Subaru frowned. "Don't clean it up."
Yuki looks at Subaru and he smirked.
"Leave it as it is," he said. "It has been devastated to this state at great pains."
"Are you implying that..."
"I did it."
"I will destroy everything and anything!" Subaru laughed and Yuki flinches. "It's such a great sight..." He adds.
Yuki opens and closes her mouth wordlessly, not sure how to put her thoughts into words.
"Why would you do this?" Yuki asks quietly.
The vampire in question narrows his eyes at her expression.
"Do you have something you want to say?" He asks.
Yuki shakes her head.
Although Yuki's unhappy about Subaru's actions, she knows that he wouldn't do this without a reason. She couldn't stay mad even if he teared her room apart, but that didn't mean she wasn't going to get angry. Yuki decides to ask him why later and starts to clean some things up, such as putting her chair back up.
"If you could find somewhere to sit, then go ahead. I'll be cleaning this mess up." Yuki says.
Subaru mutters something and Yuki turned to look at him.
"Did you say something? I didn't quite catch that."
"Why aren't you angry?" Subaru asks, his voice trembling.
"Well, why did you do something like this then? Even though I'm worried what's wrong and even if I blame you, the results won't change." Yuki says. "That is why I'm calming myself as I clean up. I'd be happy to hear why you did this though..."
"Is this something that your 'God' taught you?" Subaru asks through gritted teeth.
"No," she answers. "I may have been taught many things from Him, but if I was taught this from Him, then I wouldn't be angry, right? And I believe that you wouldn't do something like this without a reason."
Subaru is taken aback from her words and mutters her name quietly. Then he grits his teeth while trying to find words.
"Don't sweet-talk me," he snarls.
Suddenly, Subaru walks over to Yuki and grabs her. She shrieks in surprise as he shoves her down on the bed.
"What are you doing!?" Yuki asks.
"Silence," Subaru hisses and bites her harshly. Yuki winces from the pain.
Yuki questions herself as to why Subaru suddenly did this. He rarely sucks her blood.
"What's... the matter...?" Yuki asks the vampire quietly.
"It's annoying when you sweet-talk and trying to dress up your words prettily." Subaru answers and Yuki moves her head a bit to look at him. His lips curls into an angry snarl and says, "Don't look at me with pitying eyes. Don't dress up your words either."
"What are you... talking about? I didn't intend to sweet-talk you-"
"You are!" Subaru choked out. "Look at me. Look at me properly. Don't ignore me!"
Yuki's eyes widened from his words.
Subaru then tears her clothes off, revealing her undergarments. Yuki turns red as she gasps the vampire's name out.
"So that you don't look at me with that cheap look, I'll make you fall..." Subaru mumbled.
Yuki stares at Subaru's eyes and is frightened by the looks in his eyes.
He can't be serious, right...? He's not only going to suck my blood, but he's going to...
Yuki starts to struggle underneath Subaru, who just shoves her down again.
"It's pointless," he says. "I'm not going to let you go anywhere. It's your fault. I already told you to take your sister and run away, but you didn't."
Yuki opened her mouth to speak, but Subaru chuckles.
"That look on your face... The fear. It makes me want to laugh," Subaru says. "You can pray to God as much as you can, but I don't know if your prayer will reach God with how corrupted you already are."
Yuki shakes her head in denial and Subaru presses her down into the bed. She closes her eyes.
"Hate me," Subaru whispers. Yuki's eyes fly open in surprise. "Hate me... Detest me... You should hate me. I'm going to make it so that my existence will never disappear for a lifetime."
Yuki struggles once more, but Subaru just shoves her deeper into the bed, earning a yelp of pain from Yuki. Subaru's eyes narrows as tears formed in Yuki's eyes.
"It hurts... my back..." Yuki said as a tear rolled out of her eye.
"What happened?" Subaru asked with worry.
Yuki didn't answer and Subaru moves to touch her back, resulting in Yuki muffling a scream.
"Silence."
The vampire moves Yuki on her side and peers at her back. There were fragments of glass on her back.
"... Must have came from the window..." He mutters.
The fragments of glass must have came from the shattered window and fell on to the bed. Some of the glass have stabbed into her back.
Yuki winces at the pain.
"You're wounded," Subaru says.
He suddenly pulls the remaining fabric down and gently moves her hair away. Once her hair was moved away, revealing her bloodied skin, Subaru's eyes widens a bit. He sees the scar on her shoulder blade and the brand on her back. He wonders where he's seen this scar and insignia before, remembering that when he was younger, a girl had the same thing, except... she was dead. He shakes his head.
"I'm fine... It just stings." Yuki spoke as she tried to convince herself that it didn't hurt.
Subaru eyes Yuki silently. A smirk appears on his lips as he leans down to lick her bloodied back. Yuki inhales sharply at the sudden contact of his tongue and then yelps out his name.
He's licking my back... Yuki says as she shuts her eyes at the tingly sensation from the pain and his tongue.
Subaru continues licking the blood silently, but then stops as he sits up on the bed.
The places he licked... It had a different meaning than his actions from a while ago, but it hurts... Yuki says to herself as she slowly opens her eyes, a tear slipping out.
Behind her, Subaru just gazes at her without saying anything before getting off the bed and apologizing quietly. Yuki is stunned by his words, but before she could say anything, he leaves the room.
~ Later ~
After Subaru left, Yuki went to treat her back. She winced from time to time when she tried to pull the fragments of glass out and when she tried to disinfect the wound. Then after that, she cleaned up her room by sweeping the glass away and trying to put everything back to normal. A little while later, she asked Yui to relay a message to Reiji because she couldn't find the bespectacled vampire anywhere. Her older sister nodded and went on to find Reiji, while Yuki went outside for some air.
* Outside the an abandoned church. *
The night was still long, even though many things happened today. She blushed at herself when she thought about Ayato and Subaru seeing her (almost) naked.
Yuki stopped in front of an abandoned church and tried to look through the darkness, pondering on whether she should go in or not. While she was thinking, two bats flew out with a screech towards Yuki.
"Hey, stop!" Yuki shrieks as the bats continue to pester her.
"Oh, be quiet." A familiar voice says.
The bats fly away and Yuki walks closer to the building. She looks in.
"Excuse me..." She says as she sees Shu reading something. "Is that you, Shu?"
"Do you want something?" Shu asks, not bothering to look up.
"I'm sorry to disturb you." Yuki apologizes as she stands somewhat near, but far from the Oldest Sakamaki brother. "Um, can I talk to you...?"
"What is it?"
"Um... Recently, I think there's something wrong with me... I can see a woman who isn't there and I feel unsteady sometimes. I just feel like... I'm not wanted in this world."
Shu narrows his eyes slightly.
"Really?" He says. "All right, come here."
Before Yuki could say anything, Shu drops what he was reading to the ground and grabs Yuki, pulling her towards him then pushes her down stone bench. He sits next to her on the bench. Yuki's eyes widens as Shu's hands touches her hair.
"What are you doing...?" Yuki asks. "Please... Let me go."
Yuki picked the worst choice she could have picked which was... turning her head away from Shu's hand, revealing her neck in the eyes of a vampire. Shu smirked and traced his thumb on her unmarked neck with a chuckle. He leaned close to it and pierced it with his fangs. Yuki gasped as he drank.
Shu's eyes narrowed as he retracted his fangs from her neck.
"Your blood has changed. The awakening is at hand." Shu says and Yuki looks at him with confusion. "Your blood is different."
He then uses his thumb and wipes the blood from the fang marks and licks it.
"It's hot and bursting out now," he says and continues to drink from the fang marks.
Yuki places her hands on Shu's shoulders and pushes him which she manages to do. She's glad that she got Shu to stop drinking from her neck, but her glee is ruined when he grabs her hand. Her eyes widen. Shu was scaring her.
"Your neck isn't the only part of you supplied with blood," Shu says. "Fresh, new blood also flows through your wrists. I can tell, even through your skin. It smells good." Shu moves Yuki's wrist closer to his nose and lips. Yuki tries to pull her wrist away from Shu. "Don't move."
Shu's blue eyes watches Yuki as he bites her wrist. She gasps from the pain and he stops.
"You have blood of the finest quality. I'll give you that much." He says. Yuki's are wide with fear as she stared up at Shu. "Are you frightened? I'm not opposed to the look of fear in your eyes."
Shu then pulled Yuki up and moved her hair, then slid her clothes off her shoulder and pierced it. This time, Yuki muffled her cry of pain.
"Your blood is more delicious than anyone's. It slakes my every thirst." Shu remarked as he continued.
"Shu," Yuki called. "No...!"
"So, this is the awakening?" Shu chuckles. "Women are terrifying. I'm all worked up in spite of myself. You're impressive."
Before Shu could sink his fangs back into Yuki's skin, Yuki spoke.
"What do you mean by the awakening?" Yuki asked as Shu stares at her, then removes his arm away. "Please tell me."
"No sacrificial bride has ever survived to the point of awakening. And this would be the first time at how we received two of them at once." Shu explains.
"Sacrificial brides? Now, that you mention it, you and your brothers had said something similar when Yui and I first arrived..." Yuki started to remember what they said that day. "Um, just what is the real reason we were brought here? Does my Father have a strong connection to your family?"
Shu sighed as he stood up, watching Yuki.
"He'll answer your questions." Shu said. "I know you're in here."
"You have always been very perceptive." Someone spoke.
Then a man - with dark greenish hair which ends at the beginning of his shoulders and dark red eyes - walked in. He wore a black outfit with black ropes and with black boots and gloves. On his left ear is an earring.
Yuki's eyes widens as she asks herself where she's seen this man before.
"Who are you...?" Yuki asks.
"This is Richter. Our uncle." Shu explains briefly as he walks to pick what he was reading, titled: Music For Violin. Then leaves silently.
Yuki watches Richter silently, wondering whether she should call out to Shu. She didn't and once Shu was out of sight, she moved her attention to Richter. She opened her mouth to speak, but before a word could be spoken, her head started to thump. Yuki groaned in pain as her headache grew more pain was too much and Yuki fainted. Richter caught her before she fell to the floor.
