~ A Year Later ~
"Yuki!" Shu calls as he walks into their room.
He closes the door behind him as he looks around their room, searching for his wife. His eyes widens when he sees her emerging from the balcony with a smile.
"You're back early." Yuki says as she takes his hand and pulls him out toward the balcony. "Come look! The roses are blooming beautifully this year as well and they smell wonderful!"
Yuki leans against the rail as Shu stands beside her.
"I don't get how you don't seem to grow tired of them... even though they're just flowers."
"It is because the castle gardens are yours and so those roses are also his. It's natural for me to love them." Yuki smiles as she continues to admire the roses below in the courtyard.
Shu then moves behind Yuki and hugs her from behind, gently resting his chin on the top of her head.
"Your skin is cold," he murmurs as Yuki nods while placing her hands on his arms.
"You're also cold," she laughs.
Yuki then recalls when Shu told her the night she died as a seraph.
~ A Year Before ~
"You told me that you would not leave me... and that you would stay by my side. Yuki..."
Suddenly, Setsuna appears in front of Shu.
"Shu Sakamaki..." Setsuna calls as he kneels down on the ground. Shu tilts his head up, looking at Setsuna.
"Setsuna."
Setsuna shakes his head as he smiles at him weakly before frowning.
"I'll ask you this once, Shu Sakamaki." Setsuna begins. "Do you truthfully love my sister?"
Shu's eyes widens, but he closes them before looking back at him.
"I love her more than anything else in the world." Shu confesses.
Setsuna stays silent for a few minutes before letting out a laugh.
"You've changed, Shu."
"Se—"
"Make my sister's life be filled with happiness." Setsuna smiles as he unfurls his wings. He then places his hand on his chest. "Since I was born as a Seraph, we are able to transfer our life energy to whoever we desire... However, it is a different story if we are transferring energy to those who are dead. I will die, but if it's for my sister... I don't mind one bit."
Setsuna bent down to touch his sister's cheek.
I'll give you my remaining life energy in exchange for you happiness. Although we were reunited for a short time, I was really happy to see you once more. He says as he stares at his twin's face once more before mumbling an incantation.
Light begins to surround them and gradually, the light shines brighter and brighter.
"Farewell, Auriel."
I leave her in your hands. Keep her safe and change her, Shu Sakamaki...
Shu hears Setsuna's voice as he opens his eyes after the bright light disappears.
BA-THUMP...
Shu's ocean blue eyes widen when he heard a faint heartbeat.
"Yuki? Hold on..." Shu tells her as he carefully places her back down.
RRIIIIIPPP!
Shu returns to Yuki's body and picks her up.
"Drink this..." Shu quickly says as Yuki does not respond. "Your heart was moving, right!? In that case, drink it!"
This voice... Shu? Yuki thinks to herself.
"Please, Yuki... Drink it! Open your eyes, and look at me!" Shu says, desperately.
Shu's crying...? It's wet... Something's dripping into my mouth... It's sweet...
Yuki inhales weakly and slowly opens her eyes. Shu stares at her in shock.
"Shu...?" Yuki mumurs in confusion. "What happened...? My wings were ripped off... and I died... Why am I still alive?"
Yuki's rose pink eyes widen when she recalls Hadriel.
"Hadriel... He—" Yuki suddenly screams when she sees Hadriel's headless body on the ground.
Shu glances over and moves to block her view from the horror.
"Don't look at it... It's just filth laying there."
Yuki calms down and she slowly tilts her head up while placing a hand on his cheek.
"Blood..." Yuki points out when she notices him covered completely in blood.
Shu nods. "I was just returning the favor."
"Shu."
"Yuki. Something interesting is going to happen... and I want you to see it all by my side." Shu says. "You won't need to worry about anything any more or be depressed. All you need to do... is stay by my side."
Yuki nods slowly with a smile.
"I'll be by your side... This time I won't leave you."
~ Present ~
"I miss him, Shu..." Yuki mumbles as she leans back against his chest.
"He was better than Shiki or Ren," Shu remarks.
Yuki giggles at his comment, but her rose pink eyes glows for a bit.
"Blood...? Are you wounded?" Yuki asks as she pulls out of Shu's embrace.
Shu shakes his head.
"Your smelling Ayato's scent," he says.
Yuki frowns. "Ayato came again? This is marks the hundredth time he has attacked..."
"Ayato should give up soon before he becomes like that dark angel... Hadel, was it?" Shu says.
"I don't remember... But, isn't Subaru doing the same? I heard Reiji's in a similar situation as you are, Shu."
"I don't care because there is no one who can take you away from me."
Yuki blushes and she looks away, but turns to face him when he asks a question.
"Do you hate me for turning you into a vampire?"
"Why are you asking me that question all of a sudden?"
"I want to know what you think of it... You've lost the warmth and now you need to sustain yourself with my blood."
"I don't particularly mind being a vampire... I didn't have a lot of fond memories of when I was a seraph. However, I do think that it is a shame that I can no longer give you the warmth." Yuki responds as she smiles. "I am happy to be the same race as you, Shu. I can be together forever with you now."
Yuki suddenly hugs Shu and rests her head on his chest.
"There is no greater happiness than this." Yuki adds.
Shu closes his eyes in pleasure before leaning down to whisper into his wife's ear.
"Now there is no longer anyone to get in our way. I should have done this from the very beginning."
Shu suddenly picks Yuki up from the ground and carries her back inside. He then places her down on their bed and got on top of her, placing his forehead lightly on hers.
Yuki blushes as she looks up at him, their foreheads touching as their eyes stared into one another.
"For that sake, I don't care what I have to lose... so long as you are by my side."
"Shu." Yuki calls as she closes her eyes. "Even if this world falls into destruction... I will forever love you."
