What You Wish For
Chapter 14
Yes, it's been a while. Again, my apologies. I will try to update and finish this story as quickly as possible. I had a tough time getting back into it last time I came back and it was hard with flames coming at me. (Yes, I had a sensitive snowflake moment). This is ultimately Liv and Elliot – I want to clarify that, again. There is Liv and Fin, obviously but this is going down the EO path. Please don't hate on me because of it!
"Any news on Liv?"
Munch's anxious face greeted Fin as he pushed open the doors to the bullpen. The older man's eyes desperately searched Fin's for an answer. Managing only a slight shake of the head, Fin pushed past and made his way towards his desk.
"Do we have an ID yet?" He asked, assuming that Munch would follow him.
"Not yet. What did the hospital say? Is Liv going to be ok? What the hell happened out there man?" Munch pulled Fin's shoulder towards him, wanting his attention and answers.
"I don't know nothin' yet. Cragen sent me here to help you get the guy."
"Is she in surgery? You have to know something!" Munch's exasperated tone conveyed the worry he was feeling. They were like a family at the 1-6 and when any member of the team was down they all felt it. But this was Liv, and Liv was more than just a member of the team. The older man cared deeply for her and his frustration at being denied any information was about the take itself out on Fin if the man didn't start talking.
"She was still in surgery when Cragen sent me home." His voice was steel, his anger at the Captain's call apparent.
"But she's going to be ok, right? It was just a flesh wound? Someone said they thought she'd been shot in the leg."
"She was."
"And?"
"Abdominal wound. Some other stuff I didn't get."
We were unable to save the baby.
Munch studied his partner closely. You didn't work with someone for so long and not get to know the things that made them tick. Fin was a taciturn man and played his emotions pretty close to home. But Munch could tell there was more going on than the younger man was saying.
Despite a long list of questions he wanted to ask, he knew that he wasn't going to get any more out of Fin.
"Witnesses?" Fin asked suddenly, referring to the incident. It took Munch a beat to realise the change of topic.
"None. CTV outside the building picked up the car but the plates were blurred. No one has come forward with any info. Uniform has been sent to canvas the area. Crime scene are still processing and ballistics are waiting on the…" he trailed off, not wanting to mention the bullet that would soon be collected from the hospital. He felt sick. It was one thing to deal with cases like this on a day to day basis but a whole other kettle of fish when it involved someone you knew and cared about.
"I want to see the video." Fin was resolute. Munch knew better than to argue. Nodding, he followed Fin, hoping that maybe a fresh set of eyes could pick up something they had all missed. He wanted nothing more than to nail the bastard that had done this to Liv.
