Chapter 12 – Crossover with Shokugeki no Soma

Happy New Year! It's been a while guys~ I'm here! Alive and kicking...

Thirteen days before Valentine's Day! Spread all the love~

"Mai" Naru called his brunette assistant, who is doing a summary on their last case.

Mai looked at his grumpy boss who is standing in front of her "What is it Naru?" she noticed he's wearing his coat "Going out?" she asked, probably a date with Masako she thought.

"Yes. And come with me" he's trying not to blush.

"Where are we going?" She asked

Naru heaved a sigh "Ask your questions later. I'll give you ten minutes to prepare" he said and went back to his office. And there he saw Gene sitting on his table and grinning at him.

"So you finally have a date huh" Gene teased

Naru blushed "It's a case. Not a date"

Gene raised his eyebrow "A case?"

"Yes"

"Without telling me or Lin?"

He looked at his brother "Shinomiya-san, the manager of SHINO's Restaurant, called yesterday. He said that there's something strange happening to his costumers, especially couples. When they are happily eating, or chatting with each other, all of a sudden water fell on them." He explained.

Gene ginned wider.

"So, you want to investigate that place, at the same time having a date with Mai?" He heard familiar voice of a woman.

He groaned "Madoka" he glared at her "Since when are you here?" she didn't give him a reply, instead she smiled at him.

"Gene, your bother is now a man!" she said in a dramatic voice.

Gene took his brother's hand "Noll, make sure to be a gentleman. Even if you excuse it as case, make sure she will have a good time okay?" he said in a serious tone.

Naru blushed harder than before "Wh-What are you talking about?" he let go of his brother's hand "It's a case, I tell you. Okay? A case! Nothing more"

"Yeah, yeah! A case! Since it's a case…" Madoka said, she looked at Gene and it seems he read what's in her mind.

They both grinned "Make a REPORT. Okay?" they both emphasize the word REPORT.

"Idiots!" Naru walked out from his office

"Naru, I'm ready" He heard Mai said. He looked at her and can't help but smile.

Mai blushed seeing his smile "L-let's go" she headed towards the door and he followed.

When the two of them are gone. Madoka and Gene went out from Naru's office.

"Hey Gene" Madoka called, and wave the camera on her hand "Do you think what I'm thinking?"

A Cheshire cat smiled showed on Gene face "Of course!"

Then the door chimes rung and Akira came in.

"Good Morning!" she lively greeted. "Where's Mai?" She asked when didn't see her friend at her table.

"She's having a date" Madoka stated, smiling.

"Oh my God! She's having a date? With whom? Is he a good guy?" She was surprised and shocked.

"Now, now, Akira. He's having a date with my brother" Gene said. And he explained the situation to her.

Akira grinned upon hearing what happen "So, she's having a date with Noll"

The two was taken aback from what they just heard "What did you just say?" they both asked, hoping that they only misheard it.

"I said, so she's having a date with Naru. Why?"

"Ah. We thought we heard something else" Gene tried to explain

Akira grabbed the two "C'mon, we will lose them if we don't hurry. We will trail them, right?" she pointed at the camera on Madoka's hand.

They both nodded. They close the door, and put "CLOSE" sign forgetting about Lin who's still inside.

They are standing at the entrance of the Japanese branch of the famous French restaurant owned and managed by Shinomiya Koujiro, the first Japanese chef who won the Pluspol Award in France – SHINO's

"Wow! Is this the Japanese branch of SHINO's? That famous restaurant in France?" Mai excitedly asked.

Naru smiled "Yeah"

Seeing him smile, Mai blushed again and her heart beats faster than normal "S-so, are we here for a lunch, or something?" she shyly asked.

Yes that's what he wanted to say "No. We are for a case" he said, and cursing himself inside.

"I-is that so?" she was saddened, Of course he won't! What would you expect, he already have Masako she thought.

"Let's come in" He opened the door for Mai.

Not too far from the couple who just went inside, a group of people already cursing Naru – for his idiocy!

"Welcome Shibuya-san, I'm Shinomiya. The one who called you yesterday" A tall, and pink haired man welcomed them.

Naru saw Mai gaping at man before them. He cleared his throat to get her attention, but failed. "Mai!" he called in a slightly loud voice.

"Wh-what?"

"Let's take a sit" He said. Shinomiya guided them at the table that he personally reserved for them. Being a gentleman, Naru pulled a chair for Mai. And he notice that she's still taking a glance at the young chef. Naru furrowed his eyebrow and looked at Shinomiya "Can we have your restaurant's specialty that will be specially made by you?" his tone marked the irritation he felt from the chef.

Shinomiya smiled "Of course" then he went to the kitchen

"Geez. You like that guy Mai?" Naru asked

"Why not? He's good looking."

"Tell me what's so good about him?" Naru irritably asked.

Mai blinked at him and laugh "Aw. Naru, so cute" she teased.

He blushed, and look away "Forget it. I will tell you the details about this case"

Moments later when the food was served, another couple arrived. It was Yukihara Soma and Tadokoro Megumi.

"Yo! Master Shinomiya!" Soma called.

"What are you doing here Yukihara? Having a date with that halfwit? And stop calling me master!" Shinomiya teased.

Megumi blushed "N-n-n-n-no, where just here to taste one of your specialty, Chef Shinomiya"

Shinomiya smirked and pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose, "As you wish"

"No!" the three of them looked at Mai. And a water suddenly fall on the couple who are talking to Chef Shinomiya, and after a minute Naru and Mai are both drench too.

When the food they ordered arrived, Naru and Mai felt the sudden change in the atmosphere. She felt it. Above the young couple who are talking to Chef Shinomiya.

"No!" she yelled at the ghost.

Shinomiya wanted to laugh at the young chefs, but they heard another pouring of water. It was Naru and Mai this time. He immediately went to the two.

"Are you okay Shibuya-san?" He politely asked

Naru was irritated seeing Shinomiya's face again "Of course not! We are both drench"

"Naru!" Mai called, then she collapsed. He rose and check on Mai.

"C-c-chef Shinomiya, who poured water on us?" Megumi asked, trying not to be scared.

"A ghost" he directly said

Soma and Megumi both went pale "EEH?"

They heard Mai giggle "Does it feel good?" She lively said, but her voice is different and she was laughing out loud.

"What happened to her Shibuya-san?" Shinomiya asked

"Did she hit her head and go insane?" Soma followed up

"She is possessed" Naru bluntly said, as if it was a normal thing.

"EEH?" Megumi is now scared "C-c-chef Shinomiya, your restaurant is haunted?"

"Yes! And I want to get rid of this ghost who poured water, in every couple" He explained, he pointed at Naru "And I hire them. From a reliable psychic office."

Mai looked at people around her, and her eyes meet Shinomiya's then she cling on him.

"He's so cute! I always wanted to date somebody like this, just once, when I alive!" She said while holding Shinomiya's hand.

Naru was speechless and beyond shock. What the hell? It's not funny at all! If he keeps touching Mai, he's gonna pay! Naru thought.

He decided to question the ghost who possessed Mai "Let me asked you something. Are you the one who pours water on the couple who come here?"

Mai let go of Shinomiya and faced Naru and cried "That's Right! I want them to get colds and die!"

"What do you mean by that? I won't die just because of colds!" Soma interjected

Mai ignored him. "Why would you do that?" Megumi asked.

She cried harder on the floor "It pisses me off so, so, so, so, so much! To see them happy while I'm suffering so much!"

"Why are you suffering?" Megumi asked again.

Mai immediately took her hand "Do you want to hear it? Okay then I'll tell you! My heartbreaking, tear-wrenching tale of love gone wrong!"

FLASHBACK

Before it become SHINO's, it is a small but well-known restaurant in the area, where I'm one of the waitress. It was here that I met him.

"You dropped this" he handed the pen that I didn't notice that I dropped.

Mai blushed recalling their first meeting "Fate brought us together!"

"A pen?" Shinomiya cannot fathom why girls easily fall for something so trivial

Soma scratched his head "Is this kind of old-fashion stuff coming back in style, or something?" he asked

"After that, we came here for many of our dates. He patiently waited for my shift to end. We were so intense that everyone around us was jealous!" Mai continued, ignoring those questions. "And THEN!" she angrily yelled, and glare at them, the two young chefs shivered. "He… He…" she's about to cry again "I didn't tell him that time that I will have an overtime job. And then he entered with a woman clinging tightly beside him"

"He was cheating on you? What a jerk!" Soma commented

Mai cried again "That's right! He tainted this beautiful place of memories!"

Naru sighed, his head is starting to hurt, and he want to end this case soon "So why water?" he asked, trying to be calm.

FLASHBACK

When I confronted him…

"What's the meaning of this? What's going on here?" I asked him but he didn't answer "Don't just stand there, say something!"

He glare at me "Shut up already" And he poured a glass of water on me "You're annoying" he said before they leave.

"What? That pisses me off!" Soma stated

"It sure does, doesn't it?" Mai gloomily answered, she looked around the restaurant "I was so shocked and depressed I decide I'd end my life here, in this beautiful place that holds my beautiful memories"

"You can't mean you committed suicide?" Shinomiya asked

Mai shook her head, "I was planning to, but I got colds and die"

"I can't believe you die from having colds!" Shinomiya clenched his hand "He should be the one that you haunt, not my restaurant!" Shinomiya snapped hearing her petty reasons

"Master, calm down" Soma trying to stop him

"I tried to haunt him, but it no use, he's incredibly thick man" She softly said, she faced Megumi and Soma "So instead of going after him, I decided I'd make other couples in this place meet the same fate!" she waved her hand a water poured on them, "Like that! Hahah!"

"We're not a couple" Megumi and Soma both said

"You should go to Heaven already" Naru said "There's still time, you can't be enjoying this situation either." He convinced her.

Mai saddened "Well then, I guess it's time to say good –" she gasped at the familiar man who just entered the restaurant. With her trembling hands, he pointed the man who just arrived "That's him"

The four of them looked at the direction she pointed.

"That bastard have nerves to come in my restaurant?" Shinomiya grabbed Mai "You can't go to heaven like this, you should teach that guy a lesson!"

Mai dressed up the waitress' uniform and approached the man with a glass of water in her hand, and without a second thought, she poured it on him. The man scream as he run outside when saw the silhouette of his ex-girlfriend who died.

"I'm okay now. I have no more regrets" she smiled at Naru "I'm sorry, for the mess. I even interrupted your date with this lady" Mai's body glowed, and she collapsed.

When Mai woke up, she's in the office already. She stood up and slowly recalling what happened to their case, but she can't remember anything after calling Naru. She saw Shinomiya went out from Naru's office.

"Chef Shinomiya? What are you doing here?" She asked

He smiled at her "I came here for the payment. Thank you" he bowed and then he left already

She knocked at Naru's door. She opened it when she heard him saying to come in.

"Naru, do –" she was surprise from what she saw. A table for two, with Chef Shinomiya's specialty.

"I-it's not like I prepared this for you or something. This is Shinomiya-san's payment" Naru tried not to blush "But if you don't join me tonight, I'll never forgive you. Just sit down, idiot!"

Mai was shocked and don't know what to say.

Lin's Office

Four people are intensely watching at the monitor.

"Are you okay in this kind of payment Shibuya-san?" Shinomiya asked Naru as he set the table.

"Yes. My date with Mai was interrupted by that ghost. This should be fine"

Shinomiya smiled "Yeah. And I'm sorry"

"It's not your fault" He bluntly stated. Shinomiya already left, and Naru's waiting for Mai to wake up.

"Naru, do –" they can see that she was surprise from what she saw.

"I-it's not like I prepared this for you or something. This is Shinomiya-san's payment. But if you don't join me tonight, I'll never forgive you. Just sit down, idiot!"

They stifled a laugh at Naru's words. No one tried to say anything but they all thought the same: NARU IS A TSUNDERE!
