He raised his eyebrow when he saw Mai entered his office with a cup of tea even if he didn't ask for it... yet. Mai softly giggled when she saw the confusion on his face.

"I'll be going home early today" she stated with a cunning smile.

"Why?" he asked before he took a sip on his tea.

"There's something I needed to do"

He stares at her, reading if she's hiding something or not. When she smile brightly at him, he blushed and nodded "Fine"

"Thank you, and oh, meet me here in the office tomorrow, four in the morning sharp." she ordered.

"Why would I?"

"Just do it, please..." she begged with her puppy brown eyes, when she saw him fighting his inner self, she pouted. Naru try not to blush at her face, she's too cute and he feels his will wavers.

"Alright, I will come."

Mai squeaked in delight and throw herself to him for a hug "Thank you, Naru!"

He was, at least, shocked. He clears his throat hoping that Mai will untangle herself, he felt uncomfortable especially the southern half of his body.

"Oh sorry... I'm just happy!" she kissed his cheek "See you at four a.m., Naru!" she left his office, grinning ear to ear which made Gene raised his eyebrow when he saw her.

He was in his office for thirty minutes, he looked at the wall clock its three-thirty in the morning. He sigh, he didn't know why Mai wanted to see him in such hour.

It's quarter to four when he heard the door open, and revealing Mai in a knee-length sleeveless sexy sapphire blue V-neck cocktail dress, the dress' unique raffles style make it more exquisite.

She curled the lower half of her wavy brown hair and let it loose on her shoulder with a ribbon-shaped pin that made of diamonds.

Naru blinked several times when she saw her, it took his breath away, she... was so beautiful. He can't hide the blush on his face, he wanted to kiss her pink lips there and then.

She smiled brightly at him "Naru, you're early."

"I..." he stared at her, and softly smile "You're beautiful" he can't help it, it was hard for him to place his cold demeanor mask in front of her.

Mai blushed furiously, her heart pounding fast, she's glad that Naru appreciate her effort.

"Thank you..." she shyly stated.

"So..." he clears his throat to compose his self "Why are we here?"

She didn't answer him, instead she grinned at him "Come on. Let's go out." He didn't object, he just followed her, and he saw Mai's car.

"Let's go for a drive"

He quietly followed Mai when she climbed on the driver's seat.

They were driving for quite some time, no one speaks, only a soft rock English song played on her radio that ease the awkward atmosphere. Naru glanced at her, there's a small smile on her lips.

She's up to something, he thought.

"Mai, care to tell me where we are going?" he asked, while looking at the road, they are now in the outskirts of Tokyo. He can see the green trees they passed by.

"It's for me to know, and for you to find out" she teased, when she briefly look at him, he's scowling.

She chuckled "It's a surprise, Naru. But let me tell you this..." she paused, she stopped when the light turns red, she looked at him and cupped his face with her hand "Let me spoil you today."

He closed his eyes, and leaned to her touch, she's warm "Okay, if you say so." he softly said.

After some time, Mai parked her car near the huge tree, they're above the hill overlooking the city.

Naru titled his head, as if asking 'why are we here.'

She unbuckled her seatbelt "Let's watch the sunrise, together."

Naru was shocked, he never done it before, watching the sun as it rise.

Now here he is, sitting on the bench with Mai while waiting for the sun to rise, it was... it was... romantic. It made his chest and face warm.

"Hey Naru, are you okay?" She asked when she notice that he's been quiet for a while.

"Yeah. It's just that... I wasn't expecting this. It's my first time."

"Mine too."

He was amazed, the sunrise was beautiful. Naru can't help but look at the lady beside her while the sun rays hitting on her face.

"Isn't it beautiful, Naru?" she asked, still looking at the sun rise.

"Yes, it is. It's beautiful"

When Mai looked at him, she blushed when she saw him staring at her, he move closer and reached her face.

"Happy Birthday, Naru..." she smiled.

His eyes widened for a moment, then he slowly leaned down, he saw Mai close her eyes and he do the same.

When their lips were inches away, they were startled by the ringing of Naru's phone. They both blushed furiously.

She heard him cursed under his breath.

"Answer that first, while I'll get your present in the car" she bashfully stated, she stood and went to her car. Naru reluctantly nodded.

He looked at his phone, it was his brother who ruined his moment "What?" he snapped.

"Noll, where are you?!" Gene sounded panic in the other line.

He sighed "You don't need to know where I am. You ruined my moment!" he muttered and hang up his phone.

Mai chuckled "Is he worried?"

"Yeah"

Mai took her phone out "Let's take pictures"

Luckily, there's a cyclist who passed by, Mai asked him a favor to take a picture of them. They were standing at the railing, Naru put his arms around Mai's waist, and she was shyly leaning on his arms.

Naru was smiling, not the same as Gene, but his eyes tell it all. And it seems that the cyclist, is a professional photographer, he took several photos of them in different angle, and background.

"Thank you" Mai bowed when he's done, Naru gave him a curt bow.

He smile "It's my pleasure... It's rare to see such a young couple, watching sunrise together" then he left.

Both of them blush. Couple? They both blush harder.

She cleared her throat "Here" She handed him a book. They were back on the bench.

Naru's eyes widened, it's the last volume of the parapsychology book that he's been reading lately, it was written by one of the parapsychologist that he respected because of his research, and it's one of his major reference to his research.

"Mai this is..."

"That's the last volume of Dr. John Palmer's book."

"I know. How did you acquire it? It's not yet out of the market."

She smile "Let just say, I have connections...?" she giggled when she saw his confused look. He grabbed her and pull her into hug.

"Thank you, Mai" she smiled and patted his back.

"As long it will make you happy, Naru"

They're under the shade of the tree, Mai placed the blanket, and the boxes filled with Japanese and English cuisine that she made.

Naru was again surprise, how much did she prepare for this? He softly chuckled and shook his head, he can't believe her to do something like this for him.

His love for the lady before him was overwhelming. They have their breakfast under the tree, he was, for the first time, genuinely happy celebrating his birthday. It was his best birthday ever.

They drive back to the city, Naru can't help the smile on his face. Mai softly smile, she was happy that Naru was happy on his birthday.

"Naru"

"Mai"

They both laugh when they called each other simultaneously.

"You first"

Mai cleared his throat, she stopped behind the white car, she grunted, she don't like morning traffic. "Let Lin run the office today"

Naru snapped his eyes to her "Why?"

"I told you right? I will spoil you today, and besides, it's your birthday! I want you to enjoy this day."

"Alright, I will call Gene"

Mai glared at him "No, not Gene. Akira will kidnap him later, she also planned something for him."

Naru chuckled "Fine, I will call Lin."

"Perfect." When the light turns green, Mai suddenly made a U-Turn which scared Naru for a moment, but he didn't show it. Mai only laugh at the other driver's shocked faces.

"Mai, I don't plan to die on my birthday"

She laugh again "Oh Naru, you know I can't do that to you."

They are in a Spa Resort outside the city. Mai was smiling, talking to the receptionist, she took her wallet and handed her a gold plated credit card. She then turned to him.

"Come on!"

Quietly, he followed her "Mai, don't tell me you use all your salary for this?"

Mai sheepishly smile at him "Let's put it that way. Oh geez Naru, stop thinking about it and enjoy this day!"

A woman wearing a kimono guides them to the bath springs. She wrapped herself with the towel and bun her hair in order not to get wet. Both of them blush when the woman guided them to the mixed bath spring.

"Thank you" Mai smiled at her. The woman bowed and left the two of them alone. "Turn around. Don't look."

He immediately turn around although he wanted see her naked. He mentally slapped his self for thinking like that, and he cursed his body for reacting at his mental image of Mai being naked. He heard the water splashed.

"Hey Naru, come on. The water is nice!" Mai yelled.

Naru smirked at her "Do you want to see me taking off my towel?"

Mai blushed and immediately turn around. Naru chuckled, he placed his towel on the chair and dip his self in the water. It is indeed nice, he close his eyes and let his self relax.

It seems that all his fatigue from his work just kick in, he felt so tired.

"It's not bad to take a break from work once in a while, Naru." he opened his eyes and saw Mai at the other side of the bath. He can slightly see her cleavage.

He smiled at her "Thank you for doing this to me, Mai. I really, really, appreciate it."

"I'm grateful for attending my request."

He gave her a warm smile, which made her heart skip. They talked about various things, mostly about Naru and Gene's childhood, on how they used to celebrate their birthdays.

After an hour and half, they emerged from the bath spring, it was Mai who rise first, then Naru.

They both wear a dark green yukata, the woman who guide them earlier showed them the way to the massage parlor.

Naru personally requested that it MUST be man who will do the massage for him, he won't let any random woman to touch him.

The massage personnel cringed when they met his soul–piercing glare.

"Y-yes sir!"

Naru felt so much relax, he felt his body was so light free from stress.

"Where are we going next?" he can't help but asked the smiling lady on the driver's seat.

She's full of surprises.

"You want to have a lunch first?"

"It would be great."

She made a sharp U-Turn again, and went to SHINO's, their former client's restaurant. He just raised his eyebrow when he saw the establishment's name. Right, this is the place where Mai find the owner cute.

"I personally called Shinomiya-sama and already made a reservation for us."

Shinomiya-sama? His eyebrow twitched at the honorifics she used in addressing the owner.

Before they entered the restaurant, Naru held his arm for Mai to hold to. She was blushing as she slid her arms to his.

He loves the idea that he can make her blush from his simple gesture.

"Welcome Shibuya-sama. This way please."

Everyone in the restaurant stopped and gape at the newly entered couple as they make their way to their table. The women were blushing as they look at Naru, while the men roamed their eyes at Mai's figure.

"We will have your head chef's specialties, please." Naru didn't look at the menu to order.

He wanted Shinomiya-san to be occupied by cooking so he can't show his self to Mai.

"Right away, sir!"

Mai's giggle caught his attention. "What's funny?"

"Naru, you caught so much attention. Didn't you see how those women look at you?"

He raised his eyebrow at her, didn't she saw how those men look at her too? Naru sighed, Mai didn't know how she was affecting those people around her.

"I can say the same to you, Mai."

She scoffed "As if! They only look at me because I'm with you."

He laugh "I told you that you are beautiful, didn't I?" She blushed to her ears, and he can't get enough of it.

Naru don't like amusement parks because there are lots of people everywhere. The place is too noisy for his liking. But now, here he is, riding in a Ferris wheel with Mai as they watch the twilight.

"Thank you for spending your birthday with me Naru." Mai softly said. He cupped his face, he softly rub her lips with his thumb, as if asking for permission to kiss her. She softly nodded and slowly close her eyes.

They both silently pray that nothing will disturb them. But their prayer wasn't answered when a man opens the door on their gondola, they both sprinted away, they didn't notice that their ride already stopped.

The man was grinning at them which made them blush harder.

"Stop at my apartment before you go home, there's something I wanted you to give to Gene too."

"Okay. I will tell Gene to pick me up in your place."

"Good."

Naru sighed, he wanted to kiss her so badly. To thank her for everything she have done for him today. Maybe later on her apartment.

When they arrived on her apartment, she went to her bedroom to get two paper bags. Naru was standing near the door.

"Naru..." He turned to face her. She have a huge grin on her face. "I want you to accept this."

She handed him a velvet box, when he opened it, he was speechless. He looked at Mai, and to the watch, then to Mai again.

"Mai... This brand... How?"

It's an Audemars Piguet's Royal Oak Chronograph QE II Cup Limited Edition wrist watch. He was beyond astonished from her gifts to him.

She didn't answer him, instead she let herself put the watch on his wrist.

"The color suits you well."

"Mai –"

She put her finger to his lips, stopping him "I told you that I will spoil you today right? Please don't ask on how I obtained it."

He slowly took her finger away and intertwined it with his "I don't want you to starve because of me."

She blinked then she burst out laughing "Don't worry Naru, I won't." she handed him another paper bag.

"I want you to give that to Gene." he nodded and received it from her.

They were standing, looking at each other's eyes, waiting for each other to make a move. Then Naru wrapped his hands on her waist, Mai gasp at his sudden action, she smiled at him and put her hands on his shoulders.

He gave her a smile - a genuine smile. When he was about to leaned down...

"Noll, I'm here!" Gene banged the door. "Mom and dad are waiting for us in the apartment!"

"Damn!" he whispered. Mai buried her face on his chest as she chuckled, he hold her tighter. "Maybe the only way to kiss you, is to kidnap you to an isolated island."

They can still hear Gene banging her door, telling them to open up. She laugh.

"I love that! Oh, I almost forgot, I made a cake for you. Please open the door, before he will blast it with his PK." Then she went to the kitchen.

A gleeful Gene was welcomed by a scowling Naru "What's with the long face brother? It's our birthday! And besides, you spent your day with the person you love!" He teased, he whispered the last part.

When he saw his little brother blush, he laugh and asked "Did you kiss her?"

His blush was replaced with an annoyance "You don't know what you just did!" he spat. Gene raised his eyebrow, obviously he don't have any idea.

"Hey Gene~ Happy birthday!" Mai cheerfully greeted. She handed him two boxes.

"Thank you, Mai. What are these?"

"That's a cake that I made for the two of you."

Gene smiled "Thank you." he glanced at Naru "Come on Noll, mom is waiting for us."

He rolled his eyes "Yeah, yeah, whatever"

"See you tomorrow, Mai!" Gene waited for Naru to bid his farewell to her.

Naru kissed her cheek and hugged her tight "Thank you so much, Mai..."

"It's my pleasure, Naru. Enjoy your birthday with your family."

He nodded, "I will"

Then the twins left.

Luella, Martin, Madoka, and Lin, were surprised to see the twins in good mood during their birthday, most especially Oliver, he might be scowling on the outside but he can't hide his positive and ecstatic aura.

"Happy Birthday!" Luella and Madoka both hugged them.

"Mom you will ruin the cake!" Gene whined when Luella hugged him.

"Oh you bought a cake?" Martin asked in delight

"No. Mai made them." Naru smug, a hint that he's proud of her. Everybody in the room grinned at him. He waved his hand at his brother "Put that on the table."

Gene put the boxes on the center table and grasp his wrist, and widened his eyes "Noll... is this...?"

"You have it first, before me?" Lin said. He and Gene have been eyeing that watch for years already.

He smirked "It is one of Mai's gift to me"

"Really?!" they all exclaimed

Martin patted his son's shoulders "If Her High–, I mean, Mai gave it to you then take care it, son."

He nodded. Then he remembered the paper bag that Mai gave him earlier, he handed it to Gene "Mai told me to give this you."

Gene handed him a paper bag too "Akira also told me to give this to you."

"Aww cute, their girlfriends are so thoughtful." Madoka and Luella both squealed.

Gene blushed, but Naru objected "Mai is not my girlfriend... yet." he mumbled the last word.

They all laugh at him, Naru dismissed his self from them to change his clothes.

"So Noll, tell us where did you and Mai went?" Luella asked, her eyes were sparkling. She wanted to hear her aloof son's first date.

Naru remembered everything they did, and he chuckled "It's a secret mother." there's no way in hell he will tell them.

"Stingy!" Madoka pouted

"Say what you want"

"Ask her to be your girlfriend already!" Gene exclaimed. This made Martin cough.

Luella rub her hand on his back "Are you alright, dear?"

Martin nodded "Yes, dear." he then seriously look at Naru "Oliver, just make sure you won't hurt her. Mai is a precious lady."

"I know father."

He will tell her how he feels in the right time, there's no need to rush. It's not like that she will leave him... right?
