Moss decorated the buildings of the city that couldn't sleep slowly being reclaimed by nature. Nature consuming the jewel of past, present, and future as three figures traveled through these cracked streets. Actually two were while the third was being piggybacked. The redhead with a batch of white over her left eye kept her arms around the male's neck. Her legs wrapped and secured around his waist.
"I'm a blur witch," she whispered into his ear.
Coming to edge of a crater sized depression, they stared at the sewer opening at the center of depression. Sliding towards the opening, they stopped. Unsecuring Jess, Rath placed her on the concrete slab. Ramming the breaking bar at the edge of the manhole cover, he pried it open then slid to it revealing the way into the sewer.
Harnessing Jess up, Rath lowered her into the sewer. Biting her lower lip, Kate followed downwards slowly breathing with each rung. Standing beside the sitting Jess, Kate closed her eyes slowly breathing. The tunnels weren't closing around her.
Tapping her shoulder, "Time to go," Rath said securing Jess onto his back.
Ankle deep water parted as Rath led them further into these underworld they didn't belong in. Black blood of the earth pulsed around them. What outer rim creatures exist?
Scrapping and mushing sounds echoed around them.
Pulling the thermonuclear bomb from Rath's back, "End of the line for me," remarked Jess unsecuring herself from Rath.
"Kate, remember your promise," looking at Rath, "Now you," pulling him close until their lips touched.
Tasting his lips for the last time, she watched as he pulled Kate away as that crawling sound got closer.
"Rath!" Kate protested as they added the distance between.
Boom caused the tunnel to shake. Dust engulfed them as the ground crumbled under their feet. Blurring. Spinning. Yellow eyes staring down at them.
Waking up, she discovered her hands and feet secured to a pole which rested on the shoulders of two zombies.
