Severus watched as Orillia looked at him with a pained expression on her face as she held their son. He understood, that look spoke volumes between the both of them. They had been in a predicament the moment she had conceived, and to find out she had carried twins caused concern even more. Twins did not survive in the Fey world. The stronger of the two would siphon off the magic from the other, it started in-utero and would continue until the age of two. Once the magic was gone, the non magic twin would be killed in a ceremony of offering to the lower court as a pledge between them to not cross the lines again on giving muggles magic so they could become witches and wizards. While the surviving twin was sacrificed in the higher court and the magic of the child proportioned out in the royal line.
Orillia was the sitting queen of the lower court at the time and wanted to do away with the practice of the sacrifices. Even royals were not exempt in such a sacrifice. She had defied the courts choice for a mate that would elevate her status inside the higher court. She had picked a lowly court guard in training to be her mate, and one who was only a half blood at that. It was a slap in the face to both courts. Thus he and Orillia had fled and sought out Albus to help.
"Mom?" Questioned Hermione.
Severus glanced at Hermione, he could see the confusion on her face. Well that of the man fig, if she allowed him to take the glamours off of her, he would do so in a heart beat. "Give them a moment." He told her.
It was a few moments more and he saw Harry pull back to look at her. "Why wasn't I with you and Hermione?"
"Oh Harry," Orillia sighed as she wiped the tears from their son's face. "Let's have a seat and I'll explain, because your father seems to have not divulged it yet."
Albus had conjured a couch and Harry sat next to his mother.
"Come sit with us Hermione." Orillia told her.
Severus sat in a chair across from the couch, Albus sat next to him in another chair. Athena had leaned on him and Severus pulled her into his lap. Tonks had found a spot as well.
Once everyone was seated Orillia looked at Hermione. "Why have you not let your father taken off the glamours?"
"Because he's not…"
That was as far as she had gotten. "Hermione. Hold your tongue." Orillia said and looked towards Severus. "Remove them, Love please."
Severus pulled his wand and did several flicking motions and removed the glamours that were around Hermione. He looked between her and Harry. They both had his hair, their mother's eyes and nose, his cheek bones and his lips. They were the only two Fey royal twins to have ever survived. He looked at Orillia and pointed his wand towards her.
Orillia gave him a grin. "Love, must you?"
"Indeed I must."
"Go on then. But they'll have to be replaced when I go back to finish with the ministry. While you are at it, take your own off."
Orillia took his breath away, her deep forest green eyes and the rich dark auburn hair. Athena had her hair color, but his curls adorned the head of all of his children.
He turned the wand on himself. Knowing full well his black curls that Harry didn't seem to like was about to be revealed. His nose would straighten as well as his complexion going from sallow looking to a rich deep copper skin tone. Athena turned and looked at him in his lap.
"That's where the curls come from." Athena grinned at him.
X-X
Harry's eyes widened as he saw his potion professor change before him. He looked nothing like the dungeon bat, he didn't even resemble the lanky teen that the memories held from the pensieve. He wondered how long his father had concealed his looks, but he noticed Tonks, she had desire in her eyes towards his father. He looked at his mother who was glaring at Tonks.
"Wipe that look off your face. If you can't control yourself, I'll have you removed from the room." Orillia told her in warning.
"No need." Albus said and pulled his wand and said a spell over Tonks. "Just to ease the desire, my dear."
Orillia gave a nod and she started explaining the twin sacrifice in the Fey world.
Harry grimaced at hearing that either he or Hermione was draining the others magic away, and that they would have been dead at the age of two.
"But we both lived." Hermione said.
"Yes you did." Said Albus. "By coming to me for help, I requested help in return. I called on the women in the order one at a time. Every woman in the order had to be tested. Certain magical gifts, of the rare kind would be taken away if they were to become a surrogate for one of the twins."
Harry closed his eyes and put his head back on the couch. "Lily Potter."
Harry could feel the warmth of his mother's hands as she caressed his head as he staid in that position.
"Indeed, Harry." Albus said. "She agreed after having been explained the situation, James Potter was never aware that you were not his child. The both of you had to be separated by a great bit of distance. You were the stronger of the two magically, so you would be able to survive being away from your mother. Hermione was weaker, so she had to stay with her mother. The plan had been to have you born on the same day, but that didn't even work out. You had regressed in growing, we had feared something maybe wrong, by splitting the two of you. Even Lily was concerned. Eventually we figured out what to do. Orillia had to give Lily a portion of her blood and magic. You started to grow again. This is also why Hermione is older than you. During all of this time Severus had a duty to do. Thus he had to get higher in the ranks of Voldemort. He was welcomed even more after he delivered the prophesy."
Harry looked back up at Dumbledore. "Was I ever supposed to go back to my real parents?"
"Yes, Herodion."
Harry looked at his father who had said that. "That's my name?"
"Herodion Severus Snape is your name, son. You were only supposed to stay for two years then I was coming for you." Severus said.
"You were never meant to stay a Potter, but alas, plans do fail. And fail it did, drastically. We had planned at the age of two you would die as Harry James Potter, and be returned back to your parents. Hermione would be over two years old and strong enough magically that being around you wouldn't effect her anymore. Then Voldemort came only when you were a year and a half."
Harry looked back at Dumbledore. "The prophesy then."
"You were still at a volatile stage of your growth magically. If I'm not mistaken, your Fey magic activated that night with a siphoning effect. Because rare magic was in the room. The curse couldn't hurt you, though it did leave a scar. Fey have the ability to absorb magic. Though I do believe you would be a first to do a killing curse even in that realm."
Great! Still a freak even there. Harry thought. Then he remembered about having magic the dark lord knows not.
"But you had said love was the magic the dark lord knows not." Harry said.
"Love is…" Albus started.
"Enough, Headmaster." Severus growled out. "I will not have you filling my son's head with such foolishness."
Harry glanced at his father. That was the tone he took when he was angered. Normally it was directed at himself not in defense of him.
