Gunslinger Girl Shadows of war Ch. 18: Showdowns and shootouts

As the crew all woke up for an early breakfast as they had all finally gotten the first good night's sleep in a while and as they all started sipping coffee and cokes before classes started and they were yelling and having a good day Jean came down to the kitchen where Alex and Richard were making a large breakfast and as Jean opened his mouth to yell Richard smiled and said
"Shut up no one cares what you have to say now shut the hell up" and slapped him with a pancake before flipping the others and Alex laughed and yelled
"Damn it now I have to make more pancakes and that means less time with etta so fuck you" and the boys started to go on a conversation leaving Etta blushing and Rico yelled
"Stop making etta blush and give us our food god damn it or I will go in there and kick your asses you dumb bitches" and she started to head into the kitchen only to see the food fly out almost hitting her so she ducked yelling
"What the hell guys you know those plates are hot as shit!" and Richard shot back
"Don't rush the cooks and maybe the plates could have a chance to cool" and Claes grabbed her food and said
"Have to go put the finishing touches on a project I am working for that will make us better if that is possible" and Richard threw her a note with the words solid snake written on it and she just nodded which pissed him off to no end. As they all started to eat Jean looked at them and said
"Before you slobs start eating I figure I should let you know class is cancelled for today" and they all smiled Richard and Alex yelled "Thank god not like we would have gone anyways asshole now this is for the group so go away" and he just stormed off as they all raised glasses and started to crack jokes. As Richard finished his breakfast he handed his plates to Tea and said
"thank you and I'm going to see what claes is up to ill be back soon yall" and they all started to listen for the sounds of yelling and things breaking which was Claes' way of getting Richard and Alex out of the lab she had built. Not hearing the sounds that they had started to love to hear they all decided to go back to their beds or in triela and ettas case they picked up their boyfriends and started to go swimming Etta yelled
"for the love of god can you all keep it down this time because what you say is terrifying" and they blushed and grumbled about
"how the fuck ms super hearing can call us out on that when we all know she's done the same damn thing" and she gave a middle finger and ignored what she heard but yelled
"there we go Richard got his ass kicked now I can unwind" and they all started to go about the day thinking life was normal but not knowing how wrong they were.
Looking at Claes Richard yelled
"So what the fuck was the point of throwing things at me besides pissing me off" and she smiled and yelled "training begins now" and the head set kicked in and he quickly dodged the shots he laughed and spat back
"I need to try this on Chris since he is the units best in hand to hand" because he used a LMG and rifle so he was close range so he had to be good or almost end up dead. Smiling at Richard she said
"oh that can be arranged so get ready because that son of a bitch will try and stomp you into the ground so duck bitch" and Claes went to the gym and found that Chris was shirtless working out causing Claes to try and stifle a nosebleed knowing that Petra would kick her ass if she so much as made a move on her boyfriend. Coughing a little he dropped down revealing his six pack he asked
"You want to talk to me claes and please don't waste my time cause I have a date with Petra tonight" and she held her nose and said
"Richard challenges you to a sparring match and this time it will be a even match and you will have to wait and see what it is" and Chris smiled and said
"Ill kick his ass as always and be back in time for our date so fuck you guys" and she walked away and told Richard
"He is on so get your headset on cause it's going to be a doozy" and Chris walked in with a pistol hidden under the towel that he set down and looked at claes and said
"I'm ready to kick his ass before my date so let's hurry up" and Richard threw a punch that caught Chris off guard and caused him to bleed a little which got claes muttering
"Smart ass you should watch what you say because now you are going to regret that" and she smiled as the brawl started with the boys and as Richard slammed his fist into chris' face he heard a response of
"I ain't rich but lord im free" and started to go full speed and seeing that he couldn't lay a hand on him Chris went to his .45 and said
"I was born with a six gun in my hand behind the gun ill make my final stand" and he pointed the pistol at Richard and dumped the magazine into his face and the round shattered the device putting him on his face screaming and Chris spat at him
"I know how to get out of most situations and don't be a little bitch" and Claes tossed him a solid snake rig saying
"We all get one so the will be your crosscom Chris so enjoy it and don't worry that the rig will be given to you after we field test it" and she tossed him an eye piece that looked like a eye patch but was more like the crosscom used by the ghosts Chris had worked with in the past. As the rest of the girls all pulled on what looked to be either a necklace or earrings with Alex wearing a set of dog tags like Chris' delta tags. As they all were given the betas of the devices and as they all smiled they heard the director yell
"Get to my office now because you can give those things a field test and there may be a slug fest" and they knew what was going on.
"You will be facing off with a terror cell and kids this fight will be against extremists and they may have armored vehicles so we will be on a full out military raid and have armored support so load up" and they yelled
"Yes sir" and they knew that the death bell was ringing. As they all got into the armored vehicles they all had music in and as Chris was chatting up Petra the truck jerked then rolled over as an RPG slammed into the hummer causing it to roll over and Petra's nose slammed into Etta's knee throwing blood around the truck. Starting to throw the door open Chris grabbed Petra and climbed out with his 417 out and as he got his girlfriend out he yelled to Richard
"Come on boy we have to get to work" and he heard the response back
"An eye for an eye blood for blood they all have to die" and Chris was the only one who heard that line and said
"get your hands off of this glass last call my ass" as Petra's bottle was broken at his feet. As the rounds tore into the concrete and asphalt near their feet Richard yelled to rico
"we get so sick of all this never wanted all this" and ricos cold response was
"Born in this world as it all falls apart" and petra spat back "All we ever really wanted was a place to call our own" and the girls all slung song lyrics back and forth until Richard said "live fast die young" and Petra ate a round in the shoulder and snapped her boyfriend into the fight yelling
"You feel like your life is over and feels like all hope is gone" and Chris spat back
"Got a bullet in the chamber and this is going to hurt" and Richard saw Rico eat a round to the shoulder and Richard grabbed his AR and RPG7 and ran out letting the rounds fly with the pile of brass around his feet and seeing the men running and Richard cutting them down callously as if he was sweeping a floor he grabbed Richards barrel and yelled
"The fuck you asshole they are fleeing so don't kill them if they don't pose a threat" and he slammed his fist into Richards jaw causing those two to beat the living hell out of each other. As the two blacked out leaving a battered mangled wreck Petra said in a trance like state
"I hear a guitar and accordion" and as Chris started to try and yell that it was a dream she hit him busting his lip and he remarked
"Damn now I Know what rico feels like" and she walked right into the waiting MGs of the ambush. Seeing her hit the ground Chris put his hands to his head and felt himself split into a blood soaked beast and the other side is an assassin he smiled as both sides tore through the men who seeing the demonic smile started to run away. Seeing Petra go down Richard stated
You aren't going to like this one bit" and as Petra saw Chris go down she yelled
"You say it's all a crisis you say it's all a blur" and spitting up blood chris said
"there comes a time you have got to face it" and Richard ran up and pulled her back by the straps on her vest and as Richard saw that he had them on the run he yelled
"Line em up shoot em down" and they all yelled back
"Firing back straight crown" and they unloaded all the ammo they had with them down range Petra saw Chris's slight confusion and yelled "light em up and watch em burn teach what they need to learn ha"
etta began singing Angel of darkness as Richard felt his limbs go heavy as the rounds tore into him and rico yelled
"Id go to hell and back with you, stay lost in what we found, worlds apart until we hit the ground" and Richard spat out
"so fly on your own" and she said crying "it's time I let you go" and Chris grabbed him yelled out
"Nothing's going to keep you down even if it's killing you because you know the truth" etta who had fallen first was pulled back to a defensive zone set up around the armored vehicles that remained and as the wounded were loaded into the remaining APCs Rico fell and got a blast of machine gun ammo to the face and Richard said
"we gotta get away" and Chris said "go far away" as Richard said
"Angel of darkness" turning into a flaming angel as Rico screamed out "Ultranumb!" as Chris responded "you want it all RIGHT NOW" and slaughtering the remaining forces with his bare hands Chris grabbed Richard and Rico and threw them into the APC turning around in time to watch Petra fall as Richard stated
"I've been hurt I believe but I think you've been deceived" and Chris yelled "YOU WILL PAY FOR WHAT YOU'VE DONE!" and he felt himself go into the two parts and slaughtered the whole corps before dragging the wounded to the APCs and as the back slammed shut Chris held on to Petra for dear life humming
"Rebel souls deserters we've been called chose a gun and through away it all"
And the crew were loaded into a pair of Blackhawk medivacs and as they came to Claes was still out cold Jean remarked
"God damn it that is going to take a hell of a time to repair you all with her unconscious" and looking at the stars on the wall Jean remarked
"How many of you died out there damn it" and Chris who was in the ICU on life support said
"God damn it shut up we only died about 6 times at the most and that was me doing the most so you can tack them on the wall now let me sleep" and Petra held onto his hand and sang "you've got my back even when it's against the wall" and she fell asleep holding his hand as the sun came up over Isla Domingo and another day began the same way they always did with the shouting matches having begun much earlier than Petra would have thought humanly possible.
