Chapter 7~
Marianne Wayne paced back and forth in her personal office that was made for her in the manor. She had no idea what to think of what had just transpired a couple of minutes ago. She just had no clue. It wasn't like she could just go back in time and change it so things could be different. She couldn't do that all. She stopped pacing and went to sit in her office chair at her mahogany desk. She turned to look a the family photo that she had sitting on the desk. It was a picture that was taken at the beginning of the year; a picture of her, Bruce, Taylor, Jasmin, Dick, and even Alfred. A precious family photo that was immediately printed out after being taken and put into the prettiest frame she had.
Marianne stroked her finger over her daughters face in the picture. She looks so happy, she thought as she continued to touch the picture affectionately.
Her 5 year old daughter had just discovered her powers, and it didn't look anything like a fluke. Her baby girl had inherited her powers from her father, who had the nerve to tell her he had powers when she had gone to rescue her son from him. She didn't know what to think in a situation like this. The only one that does would be Jasmin's deadbeat father who she in fact had no clear idea as to where he was.
"Mistress Marianne," an old butler named Alfred said as he stood outside of her open office door. He's an old friend, was the one to raise both her and Bruce after their parents died. He was giving her a look that she knew all to well. He wanted her to talk.
"I know Alfred, I know...but you know that I also had a hard time with Taylor too," Marianne said as she slumped down in her chair and huffed. She had a hard time teaching her son how to use his powers when she knew absolutely nothing about them. To top it all off, Jasmin was a five year old girl who still was learning how to read and write. She wasn't ready to learn how to be a hero yet, she wasn't even so much as close to being one.
"Mommy," a small voice said from outside of the door. Alfred turned around slightly and looked down next to his leg. There standing next to him was a little girl no older than 5. Her hair was ebony and was put into two pigtails. Her face was small and chubby, her hands were small and gripped on to her little blue skirt. Her eyes...oh her eyes, they were the same color as her fathers; a deep sea green that would make anyone get lost in them if they looked long enough. Marianne had to stop her self from squealing openly especially in front of Alfred. She settled with squealing in her head at how adorable and precious her daughter looked. She was so small and cute that it was a crime. Her big brother, who didn't want to show it, was also very overprotective of her too.
Marianne looked at her daughters face as she walked in slowly towards her desk. She had the look of guilt on her face which was also cute. She was looking down at the floor with a very sad look on her adorable face. (A/N I just can't stop saying adorable can I)
"Mommy, awe you mad at me," Jasmin asked as she continued to look to the floor like it was the most interesting thing in the room. Marianne gave her daughter a look of surprise. Why would she think that?
"Oh no no no, sweet heart." Marianne went over to her daughter and picked her up with ease. Jasmin's head was still down and her lips were puckered up. She was going to cry. The older woman lifted her daughters chin up to make her look at her. She smiled at her and kissed her on her forehead.
"I'm not mad Jazzy, I'm just- confused is all. I could never get mad at you," Marianne said as she rubbed her nose against her daughters, which caused the little 5 year old to giggle. Alfred stood at the door watching the scene before him with a smile on his face. His female charge had always used to be quite the challenge to take care of back in the day, but now- now what he saw before him was something else entirely, something he had dreamed of for many years.
"Mommy, can I ask you something," Jasmin said as her mother put her back down on the floor. Her mother knelt down in front of her daughter and smiled at her. She put her hand on her daughters cheek affectionately.
"What do you want to ask me Jazzy-wazzy?" Jasmin giggled at her mothers silliness and continued.
"Am I weiwd now?" Marianne stopped rubbing her daughters cheeks and looked at her. She paused for a moment then smiled. She gave her daughter a peck on the cheek.
"Of course your not weird. You may be 'Wayne' weird but your not weird," Marianne said as she stood up. She took her daughters hand and walked out through the door. She gave Alfred a look which he nodded to and followed behind them.
The three had arrived in front of an all to familiar grandfather clock, which everyone should know by now is the secret entrance to the Batcave. Marianne pulled the secret lever and the clock began to move to the side. She looked down at her daughter who had a huge grin on her face. She knew exactly why they were going to the Batcave.
"Master Bruce says that he will arrive momentarily," Alfred said before he he headed towards the kitchen to prepare dinner. The older woman nodded her head. She turned her attention to her daughter who was still holding her hand.
"Awe we going to see Uncle Bwuce," Jasmin said in excitement. She loved her uncle a lot, so much in fact that she pretended to act like him when he was around. He found it cute that she tried to scowl like him and get her voice deep like his. She also loved her adopted cousin, Dick. He played with her whenever he got the chance to, and sometimes got her to go along with his pranks. Her mother always reprimanded him for it and he always retaliated with a 'why doesn't Jasmin get in trouble'...that kid should be smart enough to know that because of how much affection Marianne has for her daughter, she could never get mad at her.
Marianne picked her daughter up and headed down the steps to the bottom of the cave. She heard the all to familiar sound of a zeta tube and walked down the steps a little faster. She saw her brother adorned in his Batman suit heading for the Bat computer. By the looks of his expression he looked a little worse for ware. He sat down in his chair and like always started to search up anything and everything about crime on his computer. She frowned a little and looked to her daughter.
"Jazzy your Uncle Bruce is tired, but if you cheer him up I bet he'll play with you." The little girl smiled at her mother and nodded her head. Marianne put her daughter down and let her run towards her uncle. Bruce was in his chair typing furiously at the computer, but smiled when he saw his 5 year old niece running up to him. He turned all the way around in his chair and caught her when she jumped into his Kevlar covered arms. His cowl was off and anyone could see the softened smile that was on his face as his niece talked to him. Marianne smiled warmly at the two as she made her way to them.
"So, how was the meeting that so happened to not have me there," Marianne asked as she went to get her Crow uniform. She headed to the changing area and quickly put everything on, including her mask, combat boots and black leather gloves. She came out all prepared to head out. Her brother gave her a quick once over then turned his attention back to his niece. She was playing with his cape and pretended to scowl like she always does. He smirked and pulled half of the cape over her face. She began to giggle in delight that he was playing with her.
"The meeting went fine...other than Flash going on about how it's not fair that you get more breaks than anyone else does." Bruce took the cape off of Jasmin's face and turned her around on his lap so she that was facing ahead. Marianne, now Crow, gave her brother a 'raised eyebrow with a frown' look that clearly said 'are you kidding me'. He gave her a look back that said 'I'm not kidding'. She sighed and headed for the zeta beam.
"Well I'll just have to explain to him again the duties of being an author of a widely popular childrens book and a mother on top of that...Oh! Before I forget, I'm taking the boys patrolling tonight." Bruce was about to protest, but saw the same look in his sisters eyes that Alfred gives him. A very scary and serious look at that. Jasmin giggled at her uncles misfortune which he returned with pulling her tightly to his chest. He started to tickle her under arms. Crow smiled at the two and walked into the zeta tube
"You promised me that you would babysit Jasmin tonight to take a load off my shoulders. Don't break your promise," Crow said before the zeta beamed her out of the Batcave. Bruce looked at the empty zeta tube then down at his niece who looked up at him. He sighed. He might as well since he did promise. He got up out of his chair with Jasmin in his arms and walked towards the entrance of the cave.

At Mount Justice, the young heroes had arrived not to long ago from their...escapade. A very weird escapade. An android known as Mister Twister had shown up in the New England area reeking havoc. The teens did what any normal super powered hero would do, fight back and save lives. The situation looked like it was being dealt with until mistakes were made. Robin and Raider did the ninja thing and snuck off the bio-ship unbeknownst to everyone else, M'gann had mistaken Mister Twister of being Red Tornado in disguise, Lenalee was almost killed much to everyone's worry, Superboy yelled at M'gann for making said mistake. Overall everything turned out good in the end...well mostly, Superboy still had yet to understand why Lenalee was mad at him which she refused to tell him why.
"I still don't know why she's mad at me," Superboy said as he stared at Lenalee in confusion. Kaldur sighed. He didn't know why she was mad at the dark haired boy, but all he knew is that the boy needed to apologize for whatever he did or said.
"I think it be best that you go apologize to her, even if you do not know what you did," Kaldur said as he patted his friends shoulder and walked off. Superboy frowned. He wasn't sure how he was going to apologize, and he wasn't sure how to do it properly without her getting even more mad at him. He looked back over at the girl who was busy talking to M'gann in the kitchen. He began to walk over to them. As he made his way over, he heard them talking.
"Did he really ask you that," M'gann said with an excited tone in her voice. Lenalee nodded her head. The young martian girls grin got wider.
"Yeah, and I wasn't surprised either. I knew Wally was going to ask me out eventually. I didn't want to turn him down since he looked very happy when he did," the dark haired girl said as she leaned back on the counter with her arms crossed. She turned around when she heard foot steps. She immediately frowned when she saw who it was. Superboy looked a little nervous as he made his way into the kitchen. He didn't have his usual frown on his face.
M'gann looked between the two with a wary look on her face. She didn't want some type of argument to break out especially in the kitchen. She looked to Lenalee and spoke to her telepathically.
"Is everything okay?" Lenalee turned her head towards her friend. She gave her a smile and nodded.
"Everything will be fine, I know why he's in here." M'gann nodded her head in understanding. She did have some clue as to why her new crush was here. Lenalee had told her earlier that the boy had said something quite rude to her. She also said that he had no right to ask her whatever he asked her. It was all confusing but she could understand...somewhat.
"Um...I'll just be over there..in the other room," M'gann said as she flew out of the kitchen a little to quickly. Superboy watched her leave for a second then turned his attention back to the girl in front of him. She had her arms crossed and a frown on her face. He mentally gulped. He had no clue how to do this sort of thing.
"Okay, you got my attention. What do you want," Lenalee said bitterly. She knew that he was going to apologize but she also knew that he wasn't sure how to do it correctly. On the other hand, he did apologize to M'gann earlier on how he acted during the whole Mister Twister ordeal. Why was he having such a hard time now?
"Well...you see...I'm not sure how to do this," Superboy said as he looked straight at the girl. Lenalee scoffed. Of course he does...or does he not know what he did. The dark haired girl sighed and uncrossed her arms. She looked at the blue eyed teen in front of her.
"Look, I know your trying to apologize...and I forgive you." Superboy eyes widened a little "-but, it doesn't mean that your going to go off easy with this." Lenalee then gave him a small smile and walked out of the kitchen an headed to her room. The blue eyed teen was confused as to what just happened, but if she forgave him than everything is probably okay. He left the kitchen shortly after and went to his room.
Elsewhere, Robin and Raider were prepared to leave. They were talking to Wally on their way out. The two, were teasing him to no end when they found out that he had finally got enough guts to ask Lenalee out. It wasn't even that long that the two had met each other...but still the red head really liked her and wanted to know more about the gorgeous young girl...his words not the authors XP.
"So you finally asked her out huh," Raider said as he put an arm over Wallys shoulder. The young speedster was red in face when he finally realized what he had done not to long ago. He flushed even deeper when he remembered that Lenalee said yes. He mentally squealed in his head like a love struck teen...which he was.
"Yeah...I did," Wally said with happiness in his voice. Raider frowned at his friend. He was hoping to get some type of reaction out of him...oh well. He gave his friend a pat on the shoulder and smiled. Robin was not to far from them and smirked at his two friends. He was a little upset about the whole thing...okay he was upset, but that doesn't mean that he wouldn't support his friend.
"Well Wally I'm happy for ya, but here's some advice," Wally looked to his friend with a questioning look, "-don't screw this one up like the other times you went out with someone, kay?" The red head looked at the auburn haired boy skeptically then nodded his head. The two gave each other a fist bump. Raider was about to sat something else but was interrupted by the sound of a zeta tube.
Recognize Crow 03
Raider cringed at the sound of his mothers name being recognized. He was planning on escaping before she showed up...guess that ship has sailed. He turned around when he heard footsteps from behind. His mother was walking towards him with an unusually happy grin on her face. If the boy knew his mom well enough, he would know that that smile meant that she was up to something. The teen began to back away slowly but before he could, Wally had the nerve to run up to his mother and greet her. He was giving her his flirty grin just like he always does.
"Why hello there, it's been too long," Wally said as he wriggled his eyebrows. Crows creepy smile vanished and a normal smile was there to replace it. It didn't look as normal as it usually was though.
"Hi Wally dear. How are you today?" Wallys grin left his face and he looked slightly scared now. If anyone could see close enough, a very dangerous aura could be seen from behind her. She looked like she was ready to beat someone up. She also looked stressed out.
"I-I'm okay...how about yourself," Wally said as he slowly backed away which was a first for him. He never backed away slowly from anyone...well other than Batman. This time was an exception.
"I'm fine," Crow said bluntly. She turned her gaze over to Raider who was already on the other side of the room with Robin. He was standing behind the shorter teen who was smirking at his obvious fear. The ebony haired woman smiled and walked over to them.
"Raider, Robin, I'm taking you two out for patrol tonight so we need to leave now." The boys eyes widened a little. They both looked at each other then back at Crow. Was she serious?
"Um...C-Crow...what happened to Batman taking us," Raider asked almost in a whisper. He didn't want to incur his mothers wrath if he spoke any louder. He was treading on very dangerous waters here. Robin, elbowed his friend/cousin in the stomach for even saying that. He wasn't entirely scared...but just to be safe he would keep his trap shut.
Crow smiled at the boys. "It's because he's going to be busy tonight," the woman said with a smirk on her face. The boys started to shiver in fear, Raider more so than Robin anyway. They really didn't want to know what Batman was doing. The two dashed off towards the zeta tubes. The two were immediately beamed out of the cave. Crow smiled. Scaring those two was never going to get old. She turned her gaze to the red head that was still in the cave. He had yet to leave.
"Wally why are you still here, don't you need to go home?" Wally cringed a little at her last statement. He really didn't want to go home yet because he had something to tell Lenalee, but there was no way he was going to say that to Crows face. The woman would probably figure it out on her own. She was already looking at him funny anyway.
Crow continued to look at the boy as he fidgeted under her gaze. He looked anxious to get away from her but also didn't want to leave either. Why was that? Raider had told her for the past couple of days that there was a girl that the red head was interested in. Her son even said that she was gorgeous which was a word that was not in his vocabulary. The girl must be really pretty to catch her sons eye.
Before the woman could say anything more, another presence was in the room now and made both Crow and Wally look in the same direction. The person before them was a girl who in fact had blue-green hair, had a very pretty face, pretty violet eyes, full pink lips, a curvy waist (in Wallys opinion), and clear gorgeous skin. Wally was drooling much to Crows disgust. Is this how Hal used to look at her before he started seeing Carol or other men for that matter?
Lenalee stood there somewhat shocked and surprised that other than M'gann and Superboy, two other people were still here. Wally was apparently still here- no surprise there. Another person was also here. The woman had on a tight black suit made out of Kevlar, black combat boots that go all the way to her knees, a pair of black gloves (kind of like Dantes gloves from DMC), a black mask much like Raiders and Robins, and her hair is unruly and short much like robins but more feminine.
Crow smiled at the girl. "You must be Tori, Black Canaries protege. I'm Crow, Raiders mentor." Lenalee smiled back at the woman. The ebony haired woman was nice so far, so why does Raider speak of her as if she's some sort of demon. Who says that?
Lenalee turned her head and saw Wally standing near Crow. He looked anxious and was fidgeting a lot. He kept giving side glances to the woman beside him then to her. He wanted to leave. She walked over to him, which caused him to flinch, and grabbed his hand. The red head was blushing now. She began to walk away with Wallys hand in hers towards the zeta tubes. The girl looked back at the older woman and smiled.
"It was nice to meet you Miss Crow, I hope to see you again." And the two were gone just like that. Crow smirked. The girl was pretty interesting. Confident, agile, patient, and most of all intelligent which was what BC had told her about the girl. She would need more info from Dinah about the girl later. The woman walked towards the zeta tubes and was beamed out of the cave back to the Batcave.

A couple of days later, the team had finally been given a mission. They were all pretty ecstatic since they all now had the opportunity to prove themselves. Especially for Tori. She had yet to do any type of big mission before...well in this world. She's done tons of missions on her own back home just not here. Maybe it won't be so bad, she thought as she stood side by side with the other teens. She looked back and forth to look at everyone's expressions. Some looked serious- some looked happy (cough M'gann cough)- others looked...cocky. Everyone must have had different thoughts going on in their heads about the mission, or something else entirely.
Yep, that's right Wally A.K.A Kid Flash, was thinking about the date that he had with Lenalee. The so called 'girl of his dreams' which is exactly what he was thinking the day of the date. The teen knew at this very moment that he had to be serious...but come on he was actually able to get a date with a really hot chick...once again Wallys words not the authors. The teen clad in yellow and red spandex stood at attention like the others as soon as Batman and Crow made their way into the room. Crow typed something up on her min keyboard and a large holographic screen appeared in front of everyone.
"About 2 to 3 days ago a large cargo of raw metal material was stolen from a Harbor south of Richmond in Virginia. Local police had absolutely no clue as to when, where, or how the cargo was stolen, but they were able to collect various pieces of evidence at the harbor," Crow said as she pointed to a picture of a harbor on the screen. Batman walked next to her and brought up another picture. It showed a mysterious figure leaving the harbor and several other pictures of the suspect leaving the harbor with the some of the cargo.
"Are there any leads as to where this guy is," Robin asked as he stared at his mentor. Batman and Crow looked at each other then back to the teens. The woman brought up another picture which showed a closer look at the suspect and an area pin pointed on a map.
"Certain members of the league had asked several of the locals questions as to where this person was headed with the metal. They had managed to come up with one person with useful information for us." There was a silent pause.
"A woman no older than 40 told us that the person, who was recognized as being male, was said to be headed out of state to Santa Prisca. She asked him where he was headed if any of you were wondering. We believe he is also working with someone but not for free. Find out what's going on covertly, don't get caught, and bring back a small sample if possible," Crow said as she turned off the screens. She gave her brother a look which he understood and nodded to, then headed towards the zeta tubes and was beamed out without so much as another word. It was quiet again until someone spoke up.
"Soooo, whose gonna be leader," Robin said with an evident smirk on his face. Raider scoffed at him and crossed his arms. He would ask that, the auburn haired teen thought as he looked back to Batman.
"Work that out amongst yourselves. Coordinates have already been sent," Batman said as he typed on a mini keyboard which made the screens appear again.
"Coordinates received," Aqualad said as he and the others made their way to the Hangar.
Lenalee, now Tori, walked side by side with M'gann as they neared her bioship. The dark haired girl smiled as she watched her friend wake the ship. She had to admit, she was as excited as the others for a mission together with the others as a team. It sounded exciting just saying it. Everyone made their way inside the ship and headed to their seats. The ship immediately took off towards its destination as soon as everyone was seated. M'gann was busy piloting, Aqualad and Robin were seated next to her, Raider and Superboy a little way back from them, and Kid Flash and Tori in the back.
Kid started to look out the window after the bioship had taken flight. He was looking at everything that was flying past them as they flew by. He also had something on his mind. Did Lenalee enjoy their date? She looked happy and looked like she was really enjoying herself...but would she be willing to go out with him again, and If so when. These questions drove threw his mind as he contemplated how to ask his crush, yes his crush, it's not M'gann folks, out on another date. He looked over to the girl that was currently being thought about. If he was gonna ask it she be as soon as possible...which was right about now.
"Hey, Tori," Kid said as he tapped her shoulder to get her attention. She looked back at him and smiled. He wanted to melt then and there when he saw her smile. So cute, he thought as he tried to regain his composure. It was kind of hard when her eyes were looking directly at him though.
"Yes Kid Flash, did you want to ask me something," Tori said as she turned her seat all the way around to look at the red head. She saw his expression and giggled. He looked flustered. He was looking down at his lap too. He lifted his head back up and looked the girl straight in her eyes...her beautiful violet eyes, Kid thought as he began to melt again. He realized what was happening to him and shook his head furiously.
Get it together West. You can do this. You've done it before you can do it again, the red head thought as he gulped. Tori was still looking at him intently, waiting for him to ask her his question.
"U-Um if it's okay with you..."Kid tried desperately to get the rest of his words out. Tori giggled which caught some of the other passengers attention. Robin and Raider looked to the back of the ship. They both smirked when they saw their friend flustered and stuttering up a storm. They looked at one another and nodded. Robin took out a small camcorder (A/N he can fit anything into his utility belt), turned it on and started filming Kids awful embarrassment. Raider smirked at him and watched the show unfold. This was going to be some useful blackmail for later.
M'gann giggled while trying to maintain control over the bioship. She could smell a relationship trying to emerge between her friend and Wally, but she had yet to experience one herself so she wasn't sure of what to expect later. She would just see how things would play out.
Tori couldn't stop giggling as she watched the boy in front of her having trouble asking her his question. He was a mess with his face as red as his hair and he was stuttering like crazy. She did have a pretty good idea as to what he wanted to ask, but for now she would play dumb.
"I-If it's okay with you would you-would you...goonanotherdatewithme," Kid said as he rushed the words out in one whole jumble. As if he wasn't embarrassed already he made it worse by blurting out everything in one jacked up way. He looked back up to the girl who widened her eyes in surprise. It looked more like she was forcing her self to look surprised but he didn't really notice. Tori smiled and scooted close enough to Kid so that she was a couple of inches from his face. The teens face lit up even more when he saw how close the girl was. She was super close.
"I would be happy to-" Tori grabbed Kids hands and squeezed them and leaned forward. She gave him a peck on his warm cheek then moved her lips to his ear. "Wally," She whispered as she slowly scooted back from the red heads face. She giggled as she turned around in her chair. She didn't even turn around when she heard a thud. Poor Wally, he fainted right after Tori turned her seat back around. Full blown laughter could be heard from the front as Aqualad, sadly, was tasked with trying to wake the red head.
Who knew Lenalee could be a little minx?
wipes forehead- whoo I'm finally done with the chapter and it only took...days. Sighs. I can't believe I took so long. Oh well what's done is done.
I would like to thank those who reviewed my last chapter. Thank you! I would also like to announce that I am making a one shot about (drum role) Wallys date with Lenalee...the first one. I really didn't feel like typing it out because I'm lazy. The one shot is going to be called Wilting Flower ~Bonus story~. I look forward to writing it...(squeals) I'm already thinking up so much stuff.
I will see you all next time in chapter 8
