Hello everyone...so I was almost finished with this chapter until something happened, so I had to retype the whole thing and I'm really ticked off right now so bear with me. I have to change a few things that I had written. Oh, I'm also going to announce that there will be other pairings in this story; Zatanna will not be with Robin sadly for those that like chalant...sorry. I want to give her and Allen a go since he won't be with Lenalee...like never. Robin will be with someone else much later so look out for that. Enough with my ranting, on with the story.

~Chapter 18~

"So, you're starting school tomorrow," Raider questioned. Artemis nodded her head.

"Yeah..." She didn't say anything else after that. Raider looked at her knowingly as she turned her head away. The two were sitting together in the living room watching static on the t.v...Superboy had said that it was calming so they wanted to see if it worked, which it did. The couple were lounging on the couch cuddled up against one another with their hands interlaced, just enjoying each others company.

Raider sighed and leaned his head back against the couch. "You know you can tell me whats bothering you right. I won't judge," he said as he gave her a smile. She smiled back but with less happiness in it. She hadn't had the confidence to tell him more about herself. She was afraid that he would judge her based on who she really was and where she came from.

Unbeknownst to her, Raider knew everything since he and Robin had hacked into the Bat-computer and searched up her files. He wasn't quick to judge based on that at all.

It was quiet, as the two continued to stare at the static filled screen. It stayed that way until they heard the computer announce someone coming in.

"I'm just saying that it would be a whole lot better if we got some of the things you and Raider get," the two heard Wally say. The couple turned around and saw the three teens approaching them. They had on their civies today since it was kind of a free day for them.

"I don't think Batman and Crow would like that," Robin said with a smirk, "Since we don't have powers we have free reign over the tech, and unlike you we get to keep it."

Wally groaned. "Dude, that it totally unfair. Right Tori," he turned to his girlfriend. She smiled at him and gave him a pat on the cheek.

"I don't really need any thing Wally. I already have my boots, so I'm good." The red head sighed. He looked up when he spotted Raider and Artemis looking at them.

"Hey whats up guys," he sped over to them and gave them a grin.

"Nothing much," Raider said as he yawned. Man was he tired.

"I thought we were all supposed to be here," Artemis asked, "Are M'gann and Superboy at school?"

Tori nodded. "Yeah. M'gann told me they would be late since she had cheer practice." She walked over to the couch along with the others and sat down.

"Cheer practice? When did she try out for that," Wally asked as he took out a candy bar from hs jacket pocket.

Tori shrugged. "I'm not sure, maybe she tried out on her first day of school...speaking of school," she turned to Artemis, "I heard you start tomorrow at a different school. How are you feeling about that," she asked curiously.

Artemis smiled nervously. "Uh, I'm feeling kind of good about it...other than the fact that I won't see my friends anymore," she muttered the last part under her breath.

Robin chuckled. "I thought you would feel differently since it is a new school after all." Artemis glared at him and huffed. That little...

Raider smiled and pulled the blonde closer to him. "Pay the midget no mind-"

"Hey!" Robin glared at him. Raider ignored his outburst and continued.

"-he just hasn't had the chance to pick on anyone today."

Artemis groaned at that. "But why is it me. Why not Baywatch," she said as she pointed at Wally.

"Hey! Don't bring me into this! And besides, he already joked on me today," he said sadly as he slumped into his spot on the couch. Tori gave him a pat on the shoulder and leaned in to give him a peck on the cheek.

"Pay him no mind," she mimicked Raiders words and laid her head on Wally's shoulder. He sighed and leaned his head on hers.

"...Soooo, does anybody know what we can do today...besides sitting around doing nothing," Raider said. He sighed in boredom and slumped further into the couch.

"We're all bored Rai," Robin stated dryly, "We haven't had a mission for a week, the Kings Game was fun but it got boring...and I think you have gone mad." His eye twitched as he watched Raider sit up and take out a red gameboy. Where did he pull that out from?

Wally's eyes widened at the small portable game system. "Dude, where did you get that. I thought those died out."

"I've had it for a couple of years...by the way," he started to look around, "Has anyone seen that Allen guy around. I haven't seen him around at all lately."

Wally turned to look at Tori who was looking down thoughtfully. "Hey babe, you're closer to him than any of us. Have you seen him around?"

She shook her head. "No I haven't. He hasn't mentioned going anywhere either..." She did see him this morning but...

"I have to go home guys," Raider said looking at his phone in panic, "I'll see ya later." He gave Artemis a peck on the cheek and ran to the zeta. Robin sighed and got up from the couch.

"I'll see you guys later. I have to make sure he doesn't do anything stupid." Robin walked to the zeta tubes and waved goodbye to everyone.

And then there were three.

Artemis sighed. "I guess I have to go to. I'll see you guys tomorrow." She waved to the couple as she walked to the zeta without another word. That left the couple sitting alone on the couch.

"Soooo...we're alone," Wally said and pulled Tori closer to him. He wiggled his eyebrows causing her to giggle.

"So we are. What should we do," she said innocently.

"I know what we can do," Wally pulled Tori into a kiss and she returned it with equal urgency.

The next day

"Artemis should be here soon," Taylor said as he looked at the entrance. He turned to look down at his phone for a bit then looked back up at the entrance. He did this a couple of times causing Dick to laugh at him.

"Dude you're going to hurt yourself if you keep doing that. Why don't you sit down and wait."

Taylor shook is head and looked back at the entrance for the upteenth time. "Sorry Dick no can do. I wanna be the first one to greet her when she gets here."

"You do know that she won't know you're Raider right," Dick whispered. Taylor didn't say anything after that making Dick sigh. "Why do you really want to be the first to see her? We have student liaisons for that."

"Because 'Dick' I want to see her in her school uniform," Taylor answered with a broad smile on his face.

"...You are one messed up person and that's saying something...have you been hanging out with Wally lately," Dick asked with a smirk.

"Of course not! I'm not a perv like him," he blanched.

"Well good then-"

"I'm a civilized perv," Taylor answered with his gaze down at his phone. His friend openly gaped at him in shock then closed his mouth.

"Uh Taylor that still makes you a perv. I thought you said you weren't like Wally."

"I am nothing like him," he answered back.

"...You said you weren't a perv! You're contradicting what you said!"

Taylor rolled his eyes. "I am a perv, I'm just a civilized one. Oh hey Barb," he greeted. A red headed girl, with bright blue eyes, wearing a school uniform, walked over to the two with her arms crossed and a frown on her face.

"Taylor you said you were going to help me with my Art work," Barbara smacked the boy upside his head. He yelped in pain and rubbed the back of his head while giving her a glare.

"Dang woman! You're so violent." Taylor rubbed the back of his head in grimace.

"That's what you get for not showing up on time," she huffed. Dick chuckled at the two in amusement as he watched the two bicker back and forth.

"You two are so much fun to watch. You're like a married couple."

"We're not like that," they yelled whilst Barbara blushed. It was not known to the others but she had a small crush on Taylor. Some may have said that she liked Dick but that was least likely to happen. She thought of him as a younger brother not a potential love interest. There was absolutely no way she was going to admit that she liked Taylor though. That was a given.

"Did you guys practice talking in unison or is it just a random thing," Dick joked with a snicker.

Taylor seethed in anger and was trying to calm himself down. "I hate to do this but you give me no choice," he took out his phone and started typing on the screen, "I'm going to send the video of you in '08 if you don't stop." He smirked as Dick shrunk down.

"I thought you said you deleted that," he groaned. Taylor shook his head.

"I lied." Dick growled and started to chase Taylor around who waved his phone around.

Barbara started laughing as she watched the two run around. "You guys are going to get in trouble if you keep running around." She saw the two run around other students who looked at them in annoyance.

"He was the one that started chasing me," Taylor argued still trying to evade Dick.

"Because you still haven't gotten rid of that video," Dick commented trying to kick Taylor. He jumped to the side and stuck his tongue out. He was going to give another comeback when he saw familiar blonde hair. He grinned.

"She's here," he said excitedly. Dick stopped his chase and looked over to the entrance way. He smirked.

"It looks like it. Wanna go greet her," he asked.

Taylor smiled. "You know me so well." He and Dick interlocked their arms and skipped away. Barbara could only watch in embarrassment for her friends.

"...Boys are so weird," she said as she went to go catch up with them.

"There she is," Taylor pointed over at a blonde tanned skin girl with the school uniform on. Taylor was practically drooling much to Dick and Barbara's disgust. The girl of the trio was glaring though.

"Oh look it's Bette. Apparently she's Artemis' student liaison for today." Taylor sighed dejectedly at that. He wanted to be her liaison.

"Don't make that face Taylor," Dick tried to comfort the male, "How about we go over and take a picture. You can even use your phone."

Taylor clapped his hands together. "Yay! Lets go Dicky." He grabbed the other boys hand and dragged him over to the two girls. The two put their arms around Artemis' and Taylor took out his phone taking a picture of the three of them.

"We'll laugh about this someday," Taylor said as the two boys ran back over to Barbara in glee.

Artemis watched as they ran away then looked back at Bette in confusion. "What was that?"

Bette chuckled nervously but rolled her eyes. "Oh that was just a freshman, ignore him."

"What about the other one? Do I ignore him too," she looked back over at Taylor and saw him playing with his phone. She stiffened when she caught a red haired girls glare.

"Yeah, we don't ignore him," Bette sighed dreamily as she stared at Taylor, "If you're lucky try and ask him out. He might say yes." Artemis stared at her weirdly. It was going to be a weird first day.

Back over with the trio, Taylor was messing with his phone trying to set the picture he took as his screen saver. Dick was looking over his shoulder telling him if it looked right or not. Barbara was still glaring over at Artemis.

"Taylor, Dick, what was that," Barbara narrowed her eyes at the two in suspicion.

"Nothing Barb. We were just greeting the new girl," Taylor smiled at his female friend and gave her a one arm hug. She stiffened at his touch and turned away with a blush.

"H-Hey don't hug me so tight Taylor!" She tried to pull his arm off of her but he didn't budge.

"Aww why not," he hugged her tighter, "you deserve a hug for dealing with us two knuckleheads." He ruffled her hair and grinned at her. This wasn't helping much with her trying to get the blush off her face, it seemed like her flushed appearance got worse.

"Taylor I think you should let her go before you get whacked again-" Dick was a little to late with his warning as he watched his female friend smack Taylor upside the head again. He yelped in pain and glared at her.

Dick sighed. "It's the same old thing again," he said and walked over to stop Barbara from trying to kill Taylor...again.

"This is such a pain," Artemis said as she walked down the alleyway in her hero uniform,and her bow and arrows strapped to her back. She had never expected that her first day of school would end up being so, whats the word, weird. First she got her picture taken with two boys...one of them was really hot. She ignored that thought and continued to mumble to herself. She approached the old dingy phone booth which was actually a zeta tube in disguise. She was about to go in when she heard footsteps. She turned around and saw Robin and Raider walked towards her.

"Artemis," Robin said in fake surprise, "I thought you would be in Star City where your Uncle Green Arrow lives. Why are you in Gotham?"

"Uh hey guys...Um I was here to see m-my..cousin. Yeah my cousin," she stuttered out trying to avoid their hard gazes.

Raider chuckled and walked up to her. "Why did you come to see your cousin?"

"She...uh she had a Spelling Bee."

Robin's eyebrows rose in surprise and he smirked. "Oh did she W.I.N."

Artemis glared at him. "N.O." Raider rolled his eyes.

"B.U.M.M.E.R. Hey Raider didn't you have an Art show as well," he asked his friend. Raider shook his head.

"N.O you little troll," he chuckled out. He looked over at Artemis who still looked nervous. He smiled and grabbed her hand.

"Ignore him. He's just trying to get under your skin." He gave her a peck on the cheek which she returned.

"Ladies first," Robin said as he pointed his hands at the phone booth.

"This is your town you both go first," she turned to give Raider a small smile. Robin was the first to go through leaving the other two behind. Raider walked inside the phone booth and looked back at Artemis.

"See ya on the other side sweetheart," he gave Artemis a wink before going through the zeta after Robin. She followed after him not really paying attention to anything. When she was finally in the cave she heard an explosion go off and the two males ducking in cover.

"Artemis get down," Raider yelled as he saw another explosion go off. She ducked and rolled out of the way.

"Who are we fighting," she yelled over another explosion. She took out her bow and arrow and shot it towards nothing.

"I don't know but we need to get out of this area," Raider summoned his shadow and used it to block the debris, "Artemis try and call M'gann." She did just that but frowned.

"No luck."

Robin clicked his teeth. "I have to find what happened but I can't really do that if we stay here. Rai we're going to need you to cover us." Raider nodded and summoned his shadows again.

"You got it bro but make sure you do it quickly...oh crap I think I hear someone coming." The other two looked back at him in shock and turned to run again. They ran into the kitchen and started to look around frantically.

"There's a vent up there," Robin threw one of his bird-a-rangs at the vent causing it to swing open, almost hitting Raider.

"Dude, watch it," he glared at Robin.

Robin rolled his eyes. "Sorry but we have no time for an argument," he turned when he heard a sound, "guys get in the vent now!" They nodded and got in the vent one after the other. They crawled as quick as they could when they heard another explosion go off. They barely made it when they saw fire coming after them.

"Oh great now it's hot in here," Raider started to fan himself, "who ever we're dealing with really wanted to make an entrance and with fire at that."

"Stop complaining Rai."

"I'm just saying that it's getting hot, and you know that extreme temperatures of heat is bad for me." He fanned himself again for emphasis. He really was getting hot just being in a vent.

Robin sighed. He knew that things could get worse than they are if Raider stayed in the heat fur much longer. He looked back at the two. "We need to keep going. If we stay in one spot for to long, whoever is after us will get us."

"Then lets get moving. Dying by flames was not how I envisioned how I was going to go." Artemis gave her boyfriend an exasperated look.

"You envisioned how you're going to die," she blanched. He nodded.

"In our line of business, yes, yes I did. Now move sweetheart." He moved one of his hands and pushed her leg. She glared back at him and kept crawling.

They had crawled a good couple of feet until they were sure that they were safe. Robin took out his holo-computer and began typing.

"What are you doing," Artemis asked curiously yet also frantic like.

"Hacking into the caves security system. We need to see what happened to the others." He brought up the screen and showed the two. They saw Aqualad, Superboy, M'gann, Wally, Tori, and Allen talking.

"Have any of you had any difficulty keeping up with school and being with the team," Aqualad asked as he approached them. They all shook their heads.

"I think having gymnastics practice right after school then having to come here is a little difficult, but overall not really," Tori answered as she sat next to Wally who gave her a peck on her cheek. Artemis and Raider looked at the screen in disgust.

"Okay if we have to look at those two be all goey and stuff then I don't want to see this anymore," Raider looked away.

"Dude, this is no joke. I think I heard something in the background," Robin said. He enhanced the sound a bit so that they could hear better.

"Being on the cheer-leading squad is amazing but my loyalties are with the team...this team I mean," M'gann blushed lightly. Superboy gave her a small smile and spoke up saying he had no problems either.

"Awww how cute," Raider said sarcastically. He yelped when Artemis hit him upside his head.

"Shut up," she growled at him. He shrunk down at the tone in her voice and zipped his lip. What was with women hitting him today? He glared when he heard Robin snickering at him.

As the footage progressed they saw a wave of water come out of nowhere. They gasped when the camera went out.

"Robin pull up another camera!"

"Okay." He pulled up another one. They saw the team trying to fight back against whatever was attacking then the camera went out. Robin tried to pull up the other cameras but they all ended up dying.

"That's it all of them are dead." Raider hit him upside the head. "What...oh." He saw Artemis' fear struck face. "Um I meant the cameras! The cameras are all dead!"

"Nice save dude. So...now what do we do? We can't contact the league cause communications are down and I sure don't have anything like a...wait a minute." Raider summoned his shadow. The two others looked at him curiously.

"What are you doing Rai?"

"If we go out there in secret maybe wen can see what condition the team is in," he said confidently.

Robin gave him a skeptical look. "I don't know Rai, I mean you haven't perfected that move yet have you. Remember what happened last time you tried to do this?"

Artemis looked back and forth at the two. "Wait what do you mean by that? What move?"

Raider looked at her and smiled. "It's a special move I've been working on with my shadow here," he ran his hands through the shadow that suddenly engulfed then, "I've been trying to transport myself to another place like say where the rest of the team is. I can turn each of us into a shadow as protection so we won't get hurt while we're out there." (A/N first of all this is nothing like the other story with the shadow thingy. Raiders shadow is different just so you know...that is all)

"That's amazing but are you going to be okay to do it," Artemis said with worry in her voice. Raider looked at her softly and gave her a pat on her head.

"I'll be fine. Now lets go save our friends."

(Okay this is a time skip cause I don't want to waste time going through all of that stuff that happened.)

"T-Things just had to get worse," Raider said out of breath. During the time skip. Raider had done exactly what he said and transported them to where their team was. Wally and Superboy were trapped inside of a metal casing that wrapped around them. M'gann and Aqualad had been trapped inside of a fire cage. Raide ended up next to them with his own fire cage. Tori and Allen were knocked out. Any one would think that because of their power they would defeat the two androids that had attacked them, but that wasn't it. Tori had gone down first but not without trying to take the androids down. Unfortunately she got knocked around and she ended up with burns and a concussion...Wally was very ticked off at that and wanted nothing but to run to her aid, sadly he was a little tied up at the moment. Allen was the next to go down as he had tried to use his innocents to crush the two androids with his enlarged hand. This shocked some cause they never saw his powers before...aside from that Allen went down. Robin and Raider were next as Red Torpedo, the water android engulfed Robin in water. His friend tried to save him but ended up getting hit with fire and got caught in a cage.

Now the only person that was left was Artemis, who had fled the room in fear of being the next one taken down. She feared for her friends dying as she ran like a coward. She had crawled through the vents and had ended up int Wally's souvenir room. There she saw the cat mask that belonged to her sister. Memories of the day her sister left flooded into her mind. She clenched her fist and gave the mask a glare.

"Leaving may have been your only option, but here, with the team, it's all for one and one for-" One of the androids interrupted her small moment saying that she had only a few minutes left. She flinched and looked back up at the souvenir shelf. She saw one of her arrows on it and grabbed it, putting it into her quiver.

When she came back out into the hangar area, she saw that the water levels were getting higher. She had to act fast. She looked up at the androids and took her bow and one arrow from her back.

"I surrender, stop the clock," she ignored the shocked stares that she was getting and kept walking up towards them. Red Inferno, the female android held her hands out so Artemis could give up her bow and arrow, but she didn't do that. She jumped up on top the android using at as her leverage and shot her arrow towards the power source for a homemade EMP, that was sadly not mentioned earlier...(Author bows apologetically). When the arrow hit an electric shock spread throughout the place causing all machines, including the androids to shut down.

"...You d-did it," Raider breathed out a sigh of relief. He tried to get up buy his arms felt like jelly and he slumped back to the ground. He looked over to Aqualad and M'gann who had managed to get up but slowly. He groaned.

"Hey a little help here," he called out. Tori and Allen walked over to him weakly and put his arms around their shoulders, walking him down to where the others were. "Thanks guys."

The two smiled and set him down next to Wally who was looking his girlfriend up and down. She walked over to the red head and gave him a kiss on the cheek as reassurance.

"It looks like every ones okay," Raider said giving everyone a smile. He looked up when he saw Artemis giving him a worried look. He gave her a reassuring smile and a pat on her hand since he was sitting on the floor.

"I still can't believe we survived that," Wally drawled out. As soon as he got out of here he was taking a long nap.

"Me neither." Robin sat down next to Raider looking as tired as the others.

"Do you think that our homemade EMP shut down all of the machines," Artemis asked as she stared at the androids warily. Everyone turned towards the zeta when they heard it cut on. They saw Red Tornado approaching them.

"All machines present at the time," he looked around curiously, "What has transpired?"

"We got a visit from your family," Robin said as he and Raider got up from the floor.

"Your extremely nasty family," Artemis added with a frown.

"They were interesting characters," Raider said sarcastically.

Superboy glared at Red Tornado. "Where have you been?"

"I was at the Watchtower on duty when the alarm for the cave went off."

Raider scoffed. "Well that figures." He winced in pain when he tried to walk. "Man, Crow is going to kill me."

"Same with Batman when he sees this mess," Robin groaned as he stared around at the cave. It looked like a tsunami had passed through the cave, literally.

"Will you stop playing with that thing," Wally yelled out. Tori smacked him upside the head.

"Wally, be nice. She's just trying to get you out," she said to him calmly. He sighed ad gave Artemis a glare.

"Yeah, I mean how am I suppose to get you out when the EMP shut down all of the machines here," Artemis emphasized her words with a shake of the jackhammer in her hands.

"...Man I hate when your right," Wally complained.

"Just be grateful that she's actually helping you," Tori said with a smile.

"Hey guys," everyone turned to look at Raider, "Should Tornado be doing that," he asked and pointed over to where the android stood. Red walked over to the fallen droids and touched them. Electricity danced around him causing the droids to wake up.

"That is not good," Aqualad said. Tornadoes eyes turned red as he spun up into the air making tornadoes with his hands. The team began to gasp as their air was being taken away.

"Ugh N-No," Artemis fell to the ground along with others unconscious.

.

"..temis...rtemis...Artemis wake up." The blonde woke up in a cold sweat looking around anxiously. She looked up and saw Crow standing over her along with Superman with worried looks on their faces.

"Are you okay," Crow asked as she helped the girl stand up steadily. She nodded. "Good, now what happened?"

"What happened? What happened?! The Reds happened...wait where are they," she looked around the cave then looked at the others.

"Their gone," Robin answered, "All three of them." He looked over to Raider who had a panicked look. "...Rai...are you okay." Crow looked over at her son.

"Raider, are you okay." The boy still didn't answer as his shadows appeared out of nowhere and engulfed him in them. "Raider," The woman yelled out.

"Crow do not go near him," Batman yelled. She stopped in her tracks as she saw her sons black shadows begin to go crazy. The wind in the room that wasn't there before began to pick up.

"Raider," Crow called out for her son once more. Superman held on to her along with Artemis. The team along, with their respective mentors held on for dear life as Raiders powers spread throughout the room, and when it was finally over Raider was nowhere to be seen.

"Raider," Crow looked around for her son frantically, "Where is he?! Raider...my boy." She almost fell to the floor If it weren't for Superman and her brother catching her.

"Crow, calm yourself down," Batman said as he looked at her sternly. He was as shocked as she was, he nephew just vansihed.

"He just disappeared, " Robin said in shock. His brother/friend just disappeared like that. He along with the others looked down sadly. But the one who was most affected besides Crow, was Artemis.

"...He's gone," Artemis said as she looked at the place where he was before, "he's gone." Her voice quivered a bit. Her boyfriend was gone.

Oh man that was intense! I never thought I would get through Homefront but I did. Thank God! Now I can finally move on and I hope you all enjoyed chapter 18.
