Hello dear readers and the like! I have come with another chapter for my story. Now I know what your thinking, where have you been and why aren't you updating your other stories...well that is because I just haven't been inspired to write for Flabbergasted, Along came a Blonde, and Short skirts and Basketball. I know it sounds dumb but that's just how I feel, so please don't get mad at me. I'll update when I update so be patient XD. Okay enough of that, on with the story!
Disclaimer-I do not own Young Justice or D' grayman.
~Chapter 19~
About a day or two after the Red's incident, the team was back at the cave feeling pretty down. Raider's sudden disappearance had hit them pretty hard. On top of that they were still sore from getting the stuffing beaten out of them by some androids. Meanwhile Crow had her own pain to deal with; her son has gone missing again.
"Crow you need to calm down. Being in this state of mind won't help bring Raider back," Batman said to his sister. The latter stood in front of him with her arms crossed and a glared marred on her face.
"That's a little difficult to do Br-Batman! I can't just stay calm knowing that my son is gone," her lip quivered, "I can't deal with this again and you know it!" She walked past him giving him one last glare. Batman sighed.
"You still can't get through to her," Canary asked as she approached him. The man shook his head. "Well her feelings are the right ones for right now. Losing someone who she's practically known his entire life and raised is hard...how are you coping?"
Batman's jaw tightened and he looked over at his sister. "I'm fine, it's her I'm worried about...I'm not really big on expressing how I feel openly like her, but I promised her that I would be there for her when she goes through tough times." Canary smiled.
"You're such a nice big brother," she ignored his glare, "I mean it. I've always wanted to ask this but were you overprotective of her growing up? I seem to recall her mentioning that you drove all the boys away," she chuckled at his stiffened form. Siblings were a great thing to have.
"I can't believe that happened to us," Wally commented from his chair. Lenalee was right next to him along with Allen who was standing next to them. Robin was sitting on the other side of the table with Artemis and M'gann. Conner (Super-boy) was standing next to them with his arms crossed. Aqualad was talking to Batman.
"Believe it Baywatch..." Artemis couldn't say anything else after that or she just didn't have the will to do so. She was too upset to say anything besides that. Lenalee gave the blonde a pat on her hand and a small smile that didn't reach her eyes. M'gann touched her shoulder and gave it a small squeeze smiling at her as well.
"What I want to know is why. Why were those two androids here in the first place," Robin stated more than asked as he leaned against the table on his elbows. The others had the same questions running through their minds as they all stayed silent.
"...was it some type of set up perhaps," everyone turned to look at Allen, "All of that couldn't have a coincidence."
Lenalee nodded her head. "Those two androids got into the cave someway, but how." She sighed in frustration as she tried to think. Wally moved his hand over to hers and grabbed it lightly. He looked up when he saw Green Arrow put a bowl of pretzels in front of him.
"Thanks but no thanks," he said to the bearded man.
"Yeah, I want to know why this happened to us," Green Arrow said nothing as he gave the small group a look of sympathy."
"I don't know what to tell you guys," the man responded as he was about to take away the pretzel bowl. He felt a tug on the dish and saw Wally grabbing on to it with a frown.
"Leave the bowl," he said as it was set down in front of him. Lenalee rolled her eyes.
"Really Wally." He looked at her as he munched on the salty snack.
"What?" He got no reply so he he continued to eat.
"You knew," The group turned when they saw Conner walking up to Aqualad with a very angry look on his face. M'gann flew up to him with a look of concern.
"Conner what's wrong." He looked at her then back at Aqualad and pointed.
"He knew we had a traitor!" The team looked shocked.
"You what?! Why didn't you say anything," Wally yelled and was about to run up to the dark skinned teen until Lenalee grabbed his arm and pulled him back.
"Wally calm down," she said trying to ease his anger calmly.
"Oh he has the right idea to get mad," Artemis spoke as she glared at their leader.
"Why didn't you tell us," M'gann asked the male sadly.
"I was only trying to protect the team," Aqualad tried to reason but sadly his words were ignored.
"It's to late for that," Robin scoffed, "The Red's incident could have been prevented! Heck, Raider would still be here with us!" Those words had definitely hit home as the water bearer looked down in shame.
Batman was about to stop their argument but Crow had spoken first. "Enough! All of you," she yelled, "I have heard about enough out of all of you!" She glared at each of them with a fury they didn't know she had.
"Crow-" Robin tried to speak but was cut off.
"I don't want to hear it. Now Batman and I have a mission for you so I suggest you fix yourselves right now." She gave her brother a nod as he gave her a silent thank you.
(A/N Now I know that getting wolf was a big part of this episode and seeing Grodd etc, but I have something different...but don't worry the animal thing and Wolf will still be in this. Sorry for disturbing your reading)
"We have received word of a disturbance in a far region up north of the U.S," he brought up a screen with a large map on it with dots in different spots, "These red dots represent the emergency calls made since a week ago." Another screen was brought up with a picture of a hooded figure wearing dark blue jeans and combat boots. "This is Jakan, a male who looks to be around your age group. He has teamed up with several criminals and secret cartels gathering product from each one. As of late none of the league has heard or seen him. He might be incognito, or so we thought." Another image that showed a huge factory building surrounded by a dark gray cloud.
"What the heck is that," Wally asked with his mouth gaped open. That dark cloud sure looked familiar.
Robin stared at the picture for a few seconds then his eyes widened. "That cloud looks a lot like Raiders shadows...but I've never seen one this big before."
"That's because that isn't Raiders shadows," Crow grit her teeth at her own words, "This Jakan kid has a similar ability to him but quite different, but for now all you need to know is that he is highly dangerous. It also seems like he has taken over the small portion of land and animals that are in this location."
"So, what do you want us to do," Conner asked rather rudely. He got a glare from Crow that made him flinch just a bit.
"I was getting to that...your mission will to be to find out what exactly is going on. I advise you all now to stay cautious when you get there. Jakan seems to be an unpredictable person." Lenalee and Allen mentally agreed to that.
"And also considering the happenings from now on a League member will be here to monitor the cave but nothing else," they saw a muscular man in red with a cape fly over to them, "Captain Marvel has volunteered to do this job until further notice."
The big man smiled and waved. "Hey guys, we're going to have a blast." Some of the team groaned as they watched him talk animatedly to Batman and Crow.
"Aqualad you and your team will head out after coordinates have been given," Batman said. The young male nodded his head.
Wally scoffed. "Your leadership...OW!" He yelped out in pain when Lenalee hit him on the back of his head and gave him a glare. He was about to say something when he saw the look on her face. She was giving him the 'I'm really mad at you' look which he couldn't really say anything to.
What did he do?
Unknown
"...ugh," Raider opened his eyes drearily. His eyesight was kind f blurry as he tried to look around. He blinked a couple of times until his vision was somewhat clear. When his vision was clear enough to see he gaped. There was a giant blue dinosaur like thing above him with it's tongue sticking out. It had long ears like an elephant but a snot like a cheetahs.
"AAAAAAAH," Raider screamed as he moved away from the strange creature. The thing jumped up and down at his reaction as if it was funny. Raider glared.
"Oh haha, laugh it up strange creature," he huffed and slowly stood up while still keeping eye contact with the creature. He walked towards it slowly. The thing shuffled back a little with it's ears flapped over it's face.
Raider smiled and got a little more closer. "Hey big guy, I'm not going to hurt ya. I just want to touch you is all," he said as he stuck his hand out. His kevlar covered hand touched the blue leather skin lightly and then he shivered. "Boy are you cold. I can practically feel it through my kevlar gloves." He gave the blue creature on last pat then stepped back.
"It was...nice to meet you, but I have to go now...so uh bye," Raider stepped back then turned and began to walk away. He stopped when he heard footsteps behind him and turned around. The creature was right behind him.
Raider groaned. "I said I have to go," he made a shooing motion with his hands, "You can go do what ever you were doing before I showed up." He nodded and started walking again. The blue creature started following behind him and stopped when Raider stopped. The young teen turned around to give the thing glare then ran off as fast as he could.
For two hours, Raider tried to run away from the blue creature but it kept following him, flapping it's ears every time it got caught. Apparently it was a game to the thing since it seemed to enjoy chasing after the male, yet Raider didn't think of being chased as a game at all. He thought it was annoying.
"Alright, I have had enough of this! Why can't you just leave me alone?! I tried to be nice and tell you to leave but you just don't listen," Raider yelled in frustration. This was worse than his mom getting on his case about not being serious during patrol, and he hated it.
The blue creature was silent as it stared at Raider with it's big droopy eyes. It walked up to Raider and licked his face. Raider flinched at the creatures strange affection towards him but smiled. He felt a familiar feeling wash over him as he pat the thing on it's head. It made a strange purring sound as the teen rubbed its head. Raider's smile got wider.
"You like that huh...well you're affection is much appreciated. Maybe I'll let you come with me," the thing jumped up and down in excitement, "Yeah, yeah don't get to excited. I doubt my mom and uncle will be thrilled to see me with w-whatever you are, but maybe if I beg them...oh wait I've tried that before." Raider tapped his chin thoughtfully while still petting the creatures head. He sighed. "I'll think of something but for right now we should focus on getting out of wherever we are." Raider began to look around at his surroundings. He saw trees, of course, but what was strange was that they didn't look real. They looked more like the fake trees that are seen in various restaurants. He saw birds that looked nothing like birds but more like something out of a sci-fi movie, and bugs that were too huge to describe in detail.
"Where the heck am I," Raider asked tensely as he continued to look around.
"Your were you should be," a voice said from behind him. Raider turned around with his guard back up and in his fighting stance. He heard footsteps and saw a dark figure approaching him. He held his guard as the person got closer. He wasn't all that prepared for an all out attack since his energy was low but good ol' fashion but whooping with improvise would have to do.
"Who are you? Why am I here," Raider's voice held no playfulness as he kept his hard gaze on the rustling bushes in front of him and his new creature friend.
"Hahahahaha you were always so cautious when it came to certain things, but it seems that your mother still has much to teach you." Raiders eyes widened then shifted back into a glare.
"How do you know my mother? Who ARE you," Raider asked more aggressively. The voice chuckled, it sounded like a mans chuckle as the he got closer and closer. When the person was finally in the light Raiders mouth dropped and his eyes widened.
"D-Dad," his voice wavered as he spoke and a tingly feeling went up his spine as his father approached him, and it was not a good one.
"Hello son," the man said softly.
Marianne Wayne, also known as Crow, was pacing back and forth in the monitor room in the Watchtower. It was her day today which she was not all to pleased about. She swore that her brother had planned this out on purpose just to get her all riled up, which was something that she really didn't need to be. She didn't have to time for monitor duty, she needed to find her son and no one was saying anything about the matter at all, not even her ever fearless brother.
The kevlar clad woman bit her bottom lip as she looked down at the bright screen in front of her. She was biting her lip so hard that she had drawn blood that was now dripping to the floor. It would have gone unnoticed it Superman had not walked by the entrance way. The man walked up to the woman calmly while giving her a once over. He had been worried for her and wanted nothing but to comfort the woman, but it didn't seem to be his place to do that. He wasn't in a relationship with her nor did her have any right to give her his affection. All her could do was give her his condolences and leave her be...but these past couple of weeks he had been thinking. He had been thinking about his feelings for her and how it would affect the relationship that they have now. He didn't want to cross any boundaries with her, and he most certainly didn't want to cross that all might big brothers limits either.
"Crow," the man said softly as he got closer to her, "you have not been speaking to anyone else. Some of the leaguers are afraid that you may burst out in an emotional rage, and don't say I'm not right," he cut her off before she could even retort. She silenced herself and turned away from him.
"Then how do you think I should react," Crows voice cracked and was quiet, "What should I be saying if I can't even find one single freak'n lead on my son!" Superman couldn't say anything as he watched the woman he had feelings for break down in front of him. He could see tears coming from underneath her mask and a whimper coming from her mouth. He had never seen her like this before and it was enough to make him go up to her and kiss her, which is exactly what he did. He melded his lips against hers and moved his hands to caress her wet cheeks. He could feel her struggling against him, trying to push him away. He couldn't blame her though, what he was doing was completely and utterly wrong of him to do, but screw it he didn't care, Now was the perfect chance to make his evident feelings known to her, and he wasn't going to waste it.
Superman pulled his lips from hers and pulled her into a hug. He felt her flinch but didn't say anything. He just held onto her as she cried into his arms. He sighed.
"Listen, Marianne," he said softly, "I know that what I just did does not give me any jurisdiction over how you feel, but I want to make this known to you and I want you to listen." He puller her away from him so he could look at her. "I love you." Crows eyes widened.
"W-What did you say?"
Superman lifted her chin up with his hand so she could see his face. " I said I love you. You don't know how long I've been wanting to tell you." He gave her a beaming smile.
Crow shook her head. "No, how can you say that to me. You can't be in love with me...you know how my marriage went. My husband left me and I never heard from him again...so why," she asked the last part in a whisper.
"Because besides being Batman's sister, you are a wonderful, extraordinary, not to mention beautiful woman who I find to be one that I can't stop thinking about." Crow scoffed and rolled her eyes. "You would deny that you are all those things and more...that is so like you," the man chuckled.
"I find it hard to believe that you're the same Big Blue Boy scout that my brother and I encountered all those years ago...you really think about me," Crow said as her face began to flush in embarrassment yet with a small scowl on her face.
Superman nodded his head. "You've wormed your way into my heart and I can't seem to get you out, not that it's a bad thing though," he smirked as he saw her face turn a bright red. He thought it was cute.
"D-Don't get the wrong idea Boyscout, I'm still not sure where we stand as of now," Crow stuttered out as she pushed away from the mans embrace.
"I'm perfectly okay with that," Superman walked back over to the entrance way. "Just think about it okay." And he was gone.
Crow stared at the entrance and growled lowly. "That man is so irritating some times I swear!" She turned back to work with a glare and a flushed face.
"I can't believe him," Artemis yelled as she avoided a large crocodile's tail. She jumped back from it's swing and was about to shoot a trick arrow at it but was attacked by another one that came out of nowhere. She growled and jumped back again to avoid it's bite.
"He probably had his reasons to," Tori tried to reason to the blonde softly while trying to dodge a crocs tail swinging at her. She jumped up into the air and with her boots active, went back down to kick it in the face.
Artemis scoffed. "Yeah of course he had reason to hide important information of a possible mole being on the team, which there isn't," She grunted out as she slammed her bow into another crocodiles head.
Tori sighed dejectedly. "I find it hard to believe that there's a traitor on this team," she round house kicked another one sending it straight into a tree.
"Um guys, I'm going to set up a telepathic link. We need some type of plan since things have turned out like this," M'gann said as she was trying to avoid being attacked.
"Go ahead Miss M," Tori said to her as she took down the last crocodile.
"Aqualad can you hear me," M'gann's voice could be heard in their heads.
"I hear you loud and clear Miss Martian." Tori could hear their leaders voice waver as he spoke. He sounded so guilty.
"We were attacked by large crocodiles that had collars that looked like the ones from Belle Revve (?)." Aqualad was about to speak but was cut off by the others before he got the chance to.
"Oh great Aqualads voice," Kid said sarcastically, "Great to hear ya." Tori rolled her eyes at his sarcasm.
"That's unnecessary Kid and you know it," Tori scolded.
"All of you please listen to-" The male was cut off again.
"Should he really be giving us orders and should we even be listening to them." Tori glared over Artemis who turned away from her gaze. This was starting to get ridiculous. If they would just listen to him for one second.
"Hey Aqualad, we were attacked by large vultures but you probably don't think it's true since we're moles," Robins voice came over the telepathic link.
"What I want to know it why he didn't trust us," Kid questioned. Artemis rolled her eyes.
"Ha! Trust is a two way street."
"Artemis!"
"Tori you know we're right." The latter would hear none of it.
"Does that still give you the right to bring him down. I thought you all were better than this," She muttered in disappointment.
"So you're on his side," Kid blanched.
"I didn't say that. All I'm saying is that you guys should try to listen to him...for me Wally," Kid could hear her voice grow soft over the link and sighed. He saw Robin shaking his head at him and glared.
"You really need to stop giving into her Kid. You're becoming a slave of love," the younger of the two said with little humor in his voice.
"..." Kid didn't really say anything as the two ran through the trees. He could still hear the others talking in his head with complaints of how their leader didn't trust them. He was easily becoming distracted by Tori's voice in his head that he did not register Allen trying to talk to him.
"Hey, Hey, Hey Kid Flash can you hear me..." Kid still did not answer the male. He probably didn't want to speak to anyone, the same could be said about the others because of what was being said.
"Enough!" Everyone was wide eyed at Aqualads outburst. "Captain Marvel has been taken. We need to find someway to get to him while trying to complete this mission, under my leadership."
Kid scoffed. "Your leadership-"
"The subject is not up for debate. After the mission is over you may all see fit to where I stand concerning my role as your leader, but for now we must focus at the task at hand. Am I clear?" He heard a chorus of 'yeahs' and 'alrights'. He hoped they would all cooperate with him until this whole thing was over.
Hopefully.
"It looks like the little miss and her pathetic team are here," Jakan smirked at the floating screen in front of him. He had several floating screens around him that showed live feed of the team, the justice league, everyone, and he loved it.
"I might need to intervene soon," he said as he saw the team approaching the shield around the factory. He sighed and snapped his fingers. Two giant apes with silver collars on their necks jumped from above and knelt down in from of him. His back was turned to them as he continued to look at the lit screens.
"Make sure they don't get in here. I don't need the Light getting on my case," he ordered. The apes growled and leaped away.
"...So the fun begins," he smirked.
At Wayne Manor, Jasmin was in her room playing with her dolls while watching television. A marathon of Spongebob was on and she was clearly enjoying it.
"Mistress Jasmin," Alfred called from outside of her door, "Your mother said that you had to be in bed now." He opened the door and saw her on the floor with her dolls beside her. Her attention was clearly on the screen in front of her. The elderly man sighed and walked into her room. The five year old looked up when she saw the man standing above her. She smiled up at him beamingly.
"Hi Alfwed," she lifted up one of her dolls, "Do you want to play with me?"
Alfred shook his head and knelt down next to her. "I am sorry Mistress Jasmin but I can not. You have to go to bed." She had already taken her bath and put on her pajamas. All she needed to do was get into her bed...that was where things got difficult. The girl always whined and complained when it came to bedtime.
"But I don wanna," she whined. Alfred sighed and picked the young girl up into his arms with ease. She squirmed a little as he brought her over to her bed and lifted up the blanket. He set her down and pulled the blanket over her. She crossed her arms and pouted as the elderly man tucked her in.
"I don wanna go to bed."
"You have to Mistress Jasmin," he saw the look on her face and sighed. He had this issue with Marianne when she was a child. She was a stubborn one, but there was something he did that always helped her to fall asleep. Singing, singing a favorite song of hers always helped, and Jasmin's favorite was 'Do want to build a snowman'. He had come by her room one time and heard her singing it. He hoped he knew enough of the words.
"Mistress Jasmin," he called her name softly as he gave her head a pat, "Do you want to build snowman." Jasmin perked up and smiled.
"Come on wets go and pway~."
"I don't see you anymore." (You all know the rest)
The two continued to sing when Jasmin suddenly yawned. Alfred smiled and kept the song going for a little while longer until he saw her slowly drift off to sleep. He walked over to her night light and turned it on then went over to switch off her light before he walked out of her door. He looked back to her and smiled.
"Good Night Mistress Jasmin." Unbeknownst to the man, the small girl sat up in her bed wide awake. She threw her covers off of her and jumped down from her bed. She went over to the large window in her room that was covered by large curtains. She pushed one to the side so she could look outside.
Jasmin looked up at the sky and saw the moon shining its light on her. She smiled as she saw its glow get brighter. She lifted up her hand as it began to glow an eerie green. She closed her eyes then opened them and lowered her hand. She smiled up at the sky again and uttered four words.
"Be safe Big Brother."
Hello...I'm so sorry I didn't mention anything further about what happened on the mission. I just needed to get through this chapter cause I have something planned. I am not going to be doing Revelations next chapter, it will be mentioned, I do plan on writing about where Raiders powers came from and about his father. It will be a mini saga, nothing to big I assure you...unless I get really into it and go to far. It happens sometimes, but I will be sure to get to Zatanna. The OC that will end with Robin will be introduced maybe several chapters from now, so be patient please.
I would also like to announce the early release of my sequel. I know it's early but it's just been bugging me and I had to say something. It will be coming out soon...after I update several of my other stories. I have not decided on a name yet, but when I do I will tell you all.
Look forward to the next chapter dattebayo!
