Hola Spendolas! I am back with another chapter which I think is long overdue. I hope that you enjoyed the last one cause this is when things get good. I had spoken before of a mini saga, well It's a saga but it's not going to be mini. I thought over all the things that I had said in the sequel and I figured that you all would need a better explanation for everything.
Also, pertaining to the other ocs that I had mentioned in a couple chapters ago, they're going to be showing up in later chapters too. I'm not going to just make someone up and not use them; I'm not that cruel. Well enough of my blabbing, on with the chapter.
Disclaimer- I do not own D' Grayman or Young Justice.
~Chapter 20~
"Is it normal for abnormally large gorillas to be in this part of the world," Kid asked as he dodged from the large primates fists.
"Isn't it abnormal that you're even talking about this while we're in the middle of this," Artemis replied as she shot an arrow at their attackers. It struck one of the huge gorillas in the back before it could even land a hit.
"Can we all just focus on the matter at hand," Aqualad ordered. It eluded his how on every mission there had to be some type of non-mission conversation going on. He hoped that in the future it wouldn't be like this.
The team, sans Raider, were still preoccupied with their mission. Any ill will toward Aqualad from before had dissipated and was filled with dread. They really just wanted to go home, but that didn't see likely right now. The p lace that they were supposed to break into for info was heavily guarded by animals...animals, really? It wasn't strange though that the on behind this was the mastermind behind their unusual growth. It still ticked them off that the guy was enjoying it all.
"Hey, I think I see an opening. I'm going for it," Allen said as he punched a huge vulture away. There was a invisible field around the large creepy looking building, and if touched if would fry someone alive. But since the alarm had gone off there were a few holes in the places defense system.
"Affirmative," Aqualad replied, "Do what you must but be careful. I do not know if the field will close back up again." Allen nodded and proceeded forward. He dodged anything with fur and wings that tried to attack him. He was almost there until he saw something from the corner of his eye.
"Well well well, if it isn't the man himself," Jakan grinned in delight as he watched Allen's face turned pale, "I had heard that there was another one of you here, but who would've expected it be you of all people." His eyes turned black as a dark smoky screen surrounded him.
Allen couldn't help but feel fearful at the male in front of him. He had seen all of the Noah clan before but not every single one. He pushed those thoughts aside as he watched the male approach him. "What are you doing here?" Jakan shrugged.
"Oh this and that. I've been bored recently, so what better way to get rid of that then to mess around with nature," his grin got wider and wider as he watched Allen frown at him, "Did I also mention I was here to destroy your little friend over there." He directed the males attention over to Tori (Lenalee) who was in the middle of trying to avoid a giant eagle swooping down on her.
Allen glared at his and growled. "What do you want with Lenalee?"
"Nothing really, except that I was given orders by the Millennium Earl to get rid of her," he chuckled darkly. Those who were close enough heard what he said. Kid, being the protective boyfriend that he is, glared at Jakan and ran up to him.
"You are not going to touch her," he growled. Jakan only smirked at the red head as he attacked. He dodged his speedy punches easily like it was nothing for him, and when he saw an opening he took it. His shadows grabbed the speedster by the legs and threw him.
"Kid," Tori screeched as she watched him soar over her head.
"Tori, go help out Allen," Aqualad said to her. She looked over at her leader then back over to Kid who was slowly getting up. She was reluctant to but nodded and went over to Allen.
"Ouch," Kid said as he slowly got up. "That felt a lot like Rai's shadows."
"Do you think he was the one that took Raider," Artemis groaned out as she shot another arrow at the large gorillas.
"I do not know," Aqualad grounded out, "But what I do know is that he must be stopped." The two nodded their heads as Kid sped forwards back to Jakan.
Back over to Tori and Allen, the two were evading Jakan's shadow attacks left and right. It did not look like he was going to let up any time soon.
"It's amazing how things work out," Jakan smirked down at the two exorcists, "I being the one who was ordered to take you down, along with an added bonus. Lord Millennium will surely be pleased when I come back with your dead bodies." Tori frowned at him as she held her stance.
"Not if we can help it," Superboy said as he jumped from above them with a giant white wolf. "You're not touching anybody." The giant wolf next to him growled as it stared at Jakan. The others were right behind as they surrounded him. His animal guards already defeated, the collars they had on were missing too.
"Do not move," Aqualad said calmly as he stared Jakan down. The latter gave them an amused look. He chuckled darkly.
"I suppose you're all going to just take me down now, then bring me to your precious Justice League...hahahahahahahahaha," he burst out laughing as he clutched his sides then stopped, "...I don't want to be the bearer of bad news but-" He disappeared. Everyone looked surprised and started to look around.
"Where did he go," Robin asked as he took out several of his shuriken.
Kid looked around back and forth as he walked over to Tori. He grabbed her hand. "I'm not letting him anywhere near you," he said to her quietly. He tightened his hold on her hand .
Tori smiled at him as she clenched his hand. "Thank you." She turned her attention back to her surroundings, looking around for any sign of Jakan.
"hehehehehehe Isn't that cute," they heard his voice echo all around them. Kid growled. This guy was such a pain. Miss Martian flew close to them as she looked around.
"Ugh, come out already," Artemis shouted as she cocked her bow and arrow.
"hahahaha...as you wish." She turned around when she heard a yelp. She saw Tori fall to the ground, her sides pierced by a shadow blade. Everyone's eyes were wide when they saw her sides start to bleed.
"Tori!" Miss Martian's eyes glowed brightly as she levitated Jakan from the ground. She threw him towards a tree, hitting his head in the process and rendering him unconscious.
"Robin, tie him up now," Aqualad ordered. Robin nodded his head and took out some black wire from his utility belt, then went over to the fallen male. As he began to tie him up the others were over with Tori.
"It hurts," Tori cried out as Kid tried to pull out one of the blades.
"I know it does babe, I know it does but you have to bare with me here," Kid said trying to reassure her. He clenched his fist over the blade as he pulled it quickly and threw it to the side. She yelped out again. Kid took her in his arms bridal style and stood up holding her close.
"Is she going to be okay," Miss Martian asked as she knelt down beside them. Superboy and the white wolf walked over to them, the young kryptonian frowned as he watched them.
"She'll be okay," Allen said as he looked down at his friend. He grit his teeth. He should of stopped Jakan sooner, if he did then Tori wouldn't gotten injured.
"That guy is gonna pay when he wakes up," Artemis said as she glared over at Jakan.
Aqualad sighed. "I think it is best that we leave that to the League," he ignored everyone's shocked looks, "Our top priority now is to free Captain Marvel and bring Tori back to base for medical care." They all looked at him then nodded.
"Thank Goodness you guys saved me when you did or else I would've been a goner," Captain Marvel smiled at the team.
Allen gave him a small smile. "We are just glad that you weren't seriously injured. By the way, how did you end up getting captured anyway?"
"...Um," the man looked around nervously. He didn't want to him that he got caught because he followed after a tiger. "I-I was caught off guard." He grinned at the white haired teen hoping he bought his excuse.
Allen sweat dropped. "...I didn't think that you of all people could get caught off guard." He could tell the man wasn't telling him what really happened, but just let it slide. He looked back over to his teammates who were helping the rest of the animals get their collars off.
"Why aren't you with the rest of your pack," Superboy asked the overgrown white wolf. The animal huffed and bumped its nose on the teens shoulder.
"I think he wants to stay," M'gann giggled. Superboy looked up at her in surprise and grinned.
"Can I keep him," he said in excitement, like a child.
"Don't you already have Sphere?" Artemis asked.
"..." Superboy didn't say anything as he pet the wolfs nose. The wolf made a noise that sounded a lot like purring.
"If he wants to keep it let 'em," Kid walked up to the wolf with Tori on his back, her head laid on his shoulder. Superboy smiled. He was glad, he had really connected with the wolf after their fight. It saw him as it's own alpha now.
Robin smirked. "So, what are you going to name him?"
"I don't know."
"How about Krypto," Kid suggested. The wolf growled at that.
Superboy shook his head. "Nah"
"Isn't that already taken anyway."
"I think so." As they continued to talk about what to name the animal, Superboy looked at his new friend. He wanted something that the wolf would really like to be called, something generic like-
"Wolf," he said gaining everyone's attention.
"Wolf? That's what you wanna name him...Your naming sense is as weird as ever Supey," Kid deadpanned as he watched the wolf growl in approval.
"...Look, I have to ask," Robin said as he turned to look at Aqualad, "Why did you hold out on telling us that there was a mole?"
"I did not tell you because if there were a mole on the team it would have alerted them. I did not want to risk anything happening if I did say something."
"I understand. So that leaves the question, who told you that there was a mole?"
"The information was given to me by Sportsmaster."
"What! You can't trust him," Artemis screeched.
"I did not. It was obviously something to use against the team, to divide us."
Robin looked down with a frown. "And from the way this mission just went I say he almost succeeded."
Aqualad looked at his team. "If you all still wish for me to step down as leader I will."
"All in favor of Aqualad staying as leader," Kid said as he raised one hand. The others raised their hands as they smiled at him.
"The majority rules, I will stay as leader until you are ready to do so," the young atlantian said as he pat Robins shoulder. The younger grinned up at him.
"...what do we do with him," Superboy asked as he pointed at Jakan who was still unconscious and tied up.
"Give me five minutes with that creep," Artemis said as she began to walk up to the downed male. Aqualad grabbed her shoulder and pulled her back lightly. She glared back at him.
"We will bring him back with us so the League may question him."
"Someone should keep a close eye on him though, just in case he wakes up," Robin suggested.
"I'll do it," Allen and Artemis said. The two looked at each other then back to Aqualad who nodded.
"You two will watch him then, don't let him out of your sight." He looked to the others. "We should make our way to the Bioship now. Batman and Crow must be expecting us back now."
The team made there way back to the ship, with a few extra to go along; Wolf and Jakan who still who had yet to wake up.
Raider stared at the man in front of him in shock. He couldn't believe that his father was here. He didn't what to say since he hadn't seen the man in over a year and a half, since his kidnapping.
"It's good to see you son," the man said as he approached Raider. "You sure have grown since I last saw you. How is your mother? Is she doing well these days?"
Raider glared at the man. "As if I should tell you! You have know right to know about our family." He clenched his fists. "You left mom and me to suffer alone! Uncle Bruce had to take us in since she was so withdrawn! I had to watch as she slowly sank into a depressed state," he yelled in anger, his power started to stir a little as his anger grew.
The man sighed. "I had no choice."
"What do you mean you had no choice?! That's a load of bull and you know it!"
"If you'll just listen to-"
"No, I will not listen to you," Raiders shadows grew and grew, surrounding him, "I don't want to hear anything you have to say to me." He stretched his shadow covered arms out in front of him and pointed at his father.
"...Your powers have certainly expanded tremendously," the man said as he observed his sons shadows leap at him. He dodge quickly before they hit him and ran up to Raider. The teen looked at the man in shock.
"H-How did-" Before he could say anything he felt something hit him sending him flying.
"If you will not listen to me then I will do what I must to make you." A deep blue mist surfaced on the mans hands. "You have yet to understand why I did what I did that day son." He shot him arms out sending a scatter of small blue orbs at Raider. The teen dodged them and jumped towards the man with his hands coated in his shadows. He tried to hit his father but was blocked and knocked to the side.
"Ugh," Raider yelped as he hit the ground. He sat up quickly when he heard footsteps. He saw his father frown at him.
"Marianne apparently has not taught you enough. You still need more training," he held his hand out to his son, "I can help you better your skill's. You can master your powers with my help." Raider smacked the man's hand away and glared up at him.
"I do not need your help...how on earth did you do that," he asked the man.
His father smiled. "My dear boy you would know how if you just listen to me."
Raider stared up at him for a bit. He didn't want to trust his father after what he did, after the pain that he suffered that day from his betrayal...yet he wanted to know more about why he had these powers. He wanted to know what he was.
"Have you made up your mind?"
"...I have," Raider stood up with a groan. His dad certainly hits hard. "I wanna know what I am and why I have these powers."
The man smiled. "I am glad you asked. Let me show you." He closed his eyes. "Y'im tain em (1)," the man shouted out and a bright blue glow encased his body. Raider covered his eyes. When the glow had finally dimmed he turned back to look at his father, and when he saw him his jaw dropped. The man's auburn hair had changed to a platinum color, his eyes were no longer sea green but had a gray tint to it, his ears looked like elf ears, an red triangle showed up on his left cheek with a small circle under it, and his skin had grown paler.
"This is what I really am, what we are Taylor, a Gyphen."
Raider stared at him wide eyed. "...s-so y-your telling me t-that I'm an alien...I thought I was a magician or something." His father chuckled.
"That is what some say about our people because of our power, and they are not far off from the truth."
"Then what is the truth about our people," Raider said sarcastically.
"Gyphens are another form of what humans call nymphs."
"Well that explains why girls are always chasing after me." Now that he thought about, some guys chased after him too, but it wasn't like he wanted them to. He was straight.
" I dealt with the same thing at your age," the man said as he began to reminisce, "The only woman who didn't care much for looks was your mother, yet she was a beauty herself."
"...I guess...can you tell me more about the Gyphens though, what are their like, where they live, where-"
His father chuckled and ruffled his sons hair, but stopped when he saw Raiders glare. "I can tell you all about that in due time, but I do believe that you have somewhere you have to be. To a group of teens perhaps." Raider looked at him surprise.
"Oh crap! I almost forgot about them," he felt something nudge his back and turned to see the blue creature, "oh yeah, and you too. Um, what is this thing anyway. I can't seem to get away from it."
The man walked up to the creature and pet behind it's ear causing it to fall to the ground in a heap. Raider looked down at it in shock. "...okay how did you do that. I couldn't get that thing to leave me alone much less make it drop to the ground unconscious."
"All Ele'dines have a weakness behind their ears. It helps when they begin to get rowdy. Now about you getting home-" He held out his hand once again, his hand being covered in deep blue again. He walked up to his son and touched his sons forehead. "Take care of your mother...and sister. I'll see you soon," the man said before his son disappeared before his eyes.
"...it is only a matter time before it begins. I pray that he forgives me soon."
"Your Majesty!" The man turned around when he saw two guards in light blue hooded robes.
"Yes, what is it," he said as he pet the Ele'dine on it's back softly.
"The King and Queen request your presence in the dining chamber," one of the guards said as he bowed. The man stopped petting the animal and sighed.
"...tell them I will be with them shortly." The guards bowed.
"As you wish Prince Christopher." The two walked away leaving the man alone again.
"Marianne," he said as he closed his eyes, "I'm sorry."
Mount Justice
Infirmary
"Are you absolutely sure that you're going to be okay," Kid asked Tori in concern. She giggled and moved her hand to touch his freckled cheek. He relaxed at her touch and touched her hand with his gloved one.
"I'll be fine. Canary said that I should just be wary of my stitches for awhile. Other than that I'm good," she moved to give him a kiss on his cheek but stopped when she saw the look on his face. "Wally, what's wrong."
"...I could have stopped him from hurting you," he stared down at his lap with a deep frown. "You wouldn't have gotten hurt if I was just fast enough. Darn it...why did he go after you!"
Tori smiled at her boyfriend sadly and moved him over to her. She laid his head on her chest and combed her fingers through his red hair. "I said this before and I'll say it again, it wasn't your fault. You did what you could. He went after me because he had the element of surprise. We couldn't have determined where he would out from, so stop beating yourself up over it...okay." She felt his head move on her chest. That must have meant that he nodded. She smiled.
"Good, I don't want you to feel bad about me getting hurt anymore."
"...I'll still worry about you though," Kid moved away from her chest and took both of her hands. He gripped them in his gloved ones. He moved one of her hands up to his mouth and kissed it. He smirked when he saw her blush. "I know you don't want to be shielded, I understand that perfectly, but at least let me look after you okay?"
"I'll think about it," she said causing him to pout at her.
"You'll think about, heh I don't think so." Kid sprung from his chair and pounced onto the girl. He began to tickle her.
"hahahahaha W-Wally stop," Tori giggled out trying to pry his hands off of her. She winced when he touche her sides.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to," Wally was hovering over her as he looked down at her in concern. She looked up at him with a small smile and leaned up to kiss him. He returned her advance and moved more into the kiss. He moved his hand to touch her cheek and caress it softly as the two's lips continued to move with one another. They were so distracted with one another that they did not notice Black Canary come in along with Robin.
"I told you he would make a move on her once you left." Wally and Lenalee jumped apart from each other with flustered faces.
Canary's eye brow rose as she stared at the two. "I know," she said as she walked over to the bed. The two teens flinched when they saw her giving Wally a small glare. "I thought I told to not make her exert herself."
Wally shook his head. "I didn't, I swear." The blonde haired woman eyed him making him even more nervous. "I didn't." Robin cackled at his friend.
Canary glared at him for a little longer than sighed. "I guess you didn't," Wally sighed in relief, "but you should still keep your hands to yourself," she reprimanded. Wally stared at her wide eyed and slumped down.
"Not just by your girlfriend but by her mentor too," Robin cackled. He didn't say anything else after that, he knew that Wally knew what he meant.
The boy was whipped.
"Canary!" Someone shouted from the door. The woman turned to look and saw Crow breathing heavily and leaned on the door. Canary walked up to the woman in concern.
"Whats wrong," she asked.
"I-It's Rai..." Crow took a breath. "It's Raider, he's back," she said as she smiled.
The three teens in the room stared at the woman in shock then smiled. "Rai's back," Wally said in excitement.
Crow nodded her head. "He is. Batman is talking to him now." They all ran out of the room towards the common area. When they go there they saw Raider standing in front of Batman.
"Raider!" Robin and Kid yelled as they ran up to him. The auburn haired teen turned and broke out in a smile when he saw them.
"Hey guys what goin-" Wally punched him in the face and Robin smacked him upside the head.
"Where were you?!" "You had everyone going crazy!" The two males glared at him, then smiled. "We missed you bro." Wally ruffled his hair.
"Do you know what happened," Robin asked him.
"I don't really know what happened to me," Raider looked down at his hands, "At first I was freaked out over the whole passing out because the lack of air, then nothing...I'm sorry for worrying you guys."
"It's okay, but you might want to prepare yourself," Robin warned. Raider looked up at him curiously.
"Why... oh." He saw a familiar blonde walking his way and she looked mad. Artemis walked up to him with a deep frown on her face. He stared down at her nervously.
"Uh, h-hey Artemis how are-"
"Shut up!" Raider shut his mouth. The others looked at the two warily, they didn't want anything bad to happen.
"Listen Artemis, I'm sorry," he said as he wrapped his arms around her. He felt her flinch in his arms. "I promise I won't disappear again...even if it was against my will," he muttered the last part under his breath.
"...I'm glad you're back," Artemis sighed into his kevlar covered chest. Raider nodded his head.
"I'm glad I'm back too." He was happy he was back but...what his father said to him still irked him. He wanted to know more.
"I hate to interrupt this reunion but we have something to tell you," Crow said.. Everyone turned to look at her and Batman who looked at them grimly.
"I applaud you all for your capture of Jakan, but there is still something that needs to be said," Batman stated.
Aqualad nodded his head. "Yes, he had told us that he was sent here to kill Tori." He looked over at the girl.
"What I want to know is why? Tori is this Jakan from your world," Crow asked curiously. She nodded her head.
"He is...he is part of a group called the Noah family."
"The Noah family," Batman questioned. Lenalee nodded.
"Yes, they thrive upon those who have lost loved ones. They approach them, telling them that they can bring their deceased loved one back from the dead."
"Once they say yes...well it's too late," Allen finished.
"He mentioned some guy named the Millennium Earl, who is that," Robin asked.
Allen and Lenalee looked at each other. They knew that his name was going to be brought up sooner or later. "The Millennium Earl is the head of the Noah Family. He's the guy that makes these deals with people. He brings out a skeletal body called a Akuma, the person calls their loved ones name and their soul is dragged down into the body. It's happened many times to those that we've come across...once the soul is in the body the Earl orders it to kill the person who has called them back from the dead and wear there body."
…
"Are you serious," Artemis asked, her eyes wide in slight fear.
"Lenalee nodded her head and frowned. "I am."
"That's awful," Crow said in disgust. What kind of people where these Noah to do something like that to folk.
"It is, but that's where we come in," Allen said as he held out is gloved hand. He took his gloved off and activated his innocence. "Those who have been chosen by God were given a power called Innocence. With this power we free those trapped souls and they go off back to where they were taken from."
"Cool...but if that's true then why is this Jakan guy here," Raider asked.
Robin sighed. "Didn't you hear anything they said at all?"
"I did, but isn't strange how he's been teaming up with the worst criminals out there, and gathering all sorts of stuff too. If he wanted her dead he would've done it already."
"...You have a point there. Did he say anything when you interrogated him Batman," Crow asked her brother.
"He was silent the majority of the time I was there with him...but he did mention weapons...wait" Batman activated the holo-computer and began to type. He stopped when he saw something. "This was a recent picture that was caught on the security camera of a local pizza restaurant."
…
"Is that..." Lenalee gaped at the picture and Allen looked shocked.
"It is, I just never expected it to happen here of all places." Wally looked back and forth between the two.
"What, whats wrong," he asked. When he saw her look up at him he saw a look of fear in her eyes.
"It's an Akuma."
"You should have told them. They would have loved to hear what you had to say," a dark voice said. Jakan clutched his head.
"Shut up, just leave me alone." The voice chuckled darkly.
"What the matter? Are you to scared...oh you are. Jakan is scared." He shook his head.
"I said SHUT UP!" His shadows sprung and hit the metal walls around him, denting them slightly. He moved his legs up into the small chair he was sitting in and leaned his head against his knees.
"...kan...akan...Jakan." He could hear her voice again, it was dim but he could still hear her voice. It sounded as light and beautiful as ever...but it still tortured him to know end just like the other voice in his head.
"Why won't you both just shut up and leave me alone...huh" He lifted his head, his ears perked a little.
"...so they managed to make one...good. Now all I need to do is get out of here," Jakan smirked.
"It's just a matter of time, exorcist's."
And done...I'm sorry it's been so long. I've been obsessed with my new story as of late. I hadn't really felt like writing for this in awhile but I yeah.
(1) Y'im tain em- it means change now in Gyphen..yeah I know what your thinking, I took that from dbz, but it's all I could think of.
I hope you all liked this, please R&R.
